A solid book- not surprising as I love Sandra brown! The twists twisted in all the right ways and I was 100% wrong about the way the story would go which was fun. Definitely worth the read & recommendation!

Beth Collins has come to Auclair, Louisiana from New York City to try and talk to Detective John Bowie about a three year old case that has haunted him all this time. The TV network that Beth works for is going to air a new episode about the case and they want to talk to John, who flat out refuses, although his boss Tom Barker has no issues with talking to them and spinning the evidence and information the way he wants even John has called him out about it several times, which has caused John nothing but trouble all this time. Beth has some new ideas about who actually has some new ideas about what might have happened the night three years ago when the young girl went missing and it ties with other missing girls in the surrounding townships. No one wants to listen to her, especially John, but after some events happen that point to her being on the right track, John finally starts looking at the case differently. What follows shows what happens when a few corrupt cops only care about themselves and not the citizens they are to protect and how the the ones who do care are good at weeding out the bad.

This was good. It included a twist or two that took me by surprise. I had a good time reading it. I liked that it took a beat to like the main male character.

I’m a long-time Sandra Brown reader and listener, so this one was a must for me. Her books have evolved into sexy suspense, and that description fits Blood Moon. The setting is Louisiana, and Detective John Bowie is working on a cold case, the abduction of Chrissy Mellin more than three years ago. Beth Collins is a producer of Crisis Point, a true crime television series, and she’s in town because she believes there’s more story to tell about this case, and also others resembling it. John and Beth join their efforts to try to figure it all out. Beth believes she’s found a common thread that ties seemingly random abductions together.

This one did not disappoint! I switched back and forth between the book and the audiobook. The narrator did an excellent job, and the simmering (and soon more than that) love story was just icing on the cake. John and Beth are working together from almost the beginning of the story, and the scenes including them both became highlights.

The story resolved in a satisfying way, and I always look forward to the next Sandra Brown book!

I received a copy of the digital ARC and ALC via NetGalley. My review is voluntary.

Four stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️!

Is another young woman about to go missing?

Several years ago a teenage girl named Crissy Mellin went missing one night in the small Louisiana town of Auclair. Suspicion fell on a boy who lived near her who later committed suicide while in custody after writing a confession to having murdered Crissy. Although Crissy's body was never found the case was declared closed by the head of the police department, Lt Tom Barker. That decision did not sit well with everyone, not with the two detectives investigating the case nor with Crissy's mother. Now the case is going to be in the public eye again, featured on national true crime show Crisis Point on an upcoming episode. But Beth Collins, one of the producers of Crisis Point, has some doubts about the case and heads to Auclair to talk to one of the two original detectives, John Bowie, to run her observations by him. Bowie is not receptive to the intrusion; the case was the beginning of a downward spiral for him that ended with him divorced, drinking more than he should, and having to deal with a boss who hates him and whom he despises. He isn't happy with how the case played out either, but as someone who is one misstep away from being fired he feels he has no power to do anything about his own misgivings. Beth is a bit off the reservation herself....due to corporate shake-ups her longtime boss and mentor has been pushed into retirement and her new boss doesn't want her rocking the boat and causing the completed episode to be shelved. Despite their initial antagonism, the two end up pooling their resources and digging into the case. Is it possible that Crissy's killer is still out there, and might the killer have had other victims as well? With so many forces against their probe and the clock ticking, Beth and John are fighting an uphill battle...and they have more than their jobs on the line if they don't succeed.
Veteran writer of romantic suspense Sandra Brown knows how to craft an intriguing mystery, and she does so here. The two protagonists are smart, headstrong and carry around emotional baggage. Initial hostility morphs into an undeniable attraction and, while John is a bit of a Neanderthal at the beginning, as Beth gets to know him he is revealed to be a good man who is climbing back from a dark place in his life. The book follows a fairly standard formula, so no points for originality, but its an enjoyable (3.5 ⭐️ rounded up to 4) read that will likely appeal to Ms Brown's usual readers as well as fans of Karen Robards, Linda Howard and Nora Roberts. My thanks to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for allowing me access to Blood Moon in exchange for my honest review.

I am genuinely surprised that this is my very first Sandra Brown novel. With over 70 novels there is a big backlog I can visit when I have the time. Blood Moon is a romantic suspense novel. Louisiana Detective John Bowie (like the knife), is recently divorced and being given the crappy calls at work. His career has taken a turn since the disappearance of a teenage girl three years prior. Beth Collins, a crime tv producer comes to Bowie with a theory that disappearances are ongoing and occur only when there is a blood moon.

Of course the pair team up to investigate. I liked the pacing and the twists and turns along the way, I felt the romance was more of an add on and not as central to the story, but I still liked it. I like that they are both smart and I wasn’t concerned about their slight age gap. I think Brown’s fans will enjoy this novel as will newbies like me who enjoy romantic suspense stories.

Beth Collins is a producer for Crisis Point and she is always on the hunt for a good story, and she is certain she has just stumbled onto one in Louisiana. But this one comes with some complications and lots of townsfolk who want nothing to do with her camera or interviews. But she is not giving up, she has a new angle to be investigated and she will stop a nothing to get her answers... even if it is a little dangerous!

The pages of Blood Moon will grab ahold of you and not let go, it's action-packed storyline is downright riveting! Ms. Brown can do no wrong when she puts pen to paper, her creative story lines are attention grabbing and always thrilling, and they come with characters that are impossible to forget. Highly recommend this one, once you crack the cover you will be hooked!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, via NetGalley, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

What do you get when you combine a murder, a natural occurrence, and chemistry between two characters? You get an unputdownable book that keeps you on the edge of your seat and always guessing. Blood Moon by Sandra Brown is THAT book—mystery and romance in one fast-paced mystery thriller.

Beth Collins is the producer of a true crime show called Crisis Point. About to air is a segment about the murder of Crissy Mellon. But Beth isn’t convinced that the information included in the segment is 100 percent accurate and that the wrong person may have been attributed to the murder, which means that there is a murderer on the loose and may strike again. With only 48 hours to prove her theory and only one person on the inside who believes her, Detective John Bowie, she and the detective race against the clock to solve this crime before the real murderer does it all again on the night of the next blood moon.

Filled with plot twists and turns, Blood Moon will keep readers mesmerized and wanting to read just one more chapter before putting it down for the night.

Sandra Brown is an author whose books I’ve read extensively. She’s well-known for her "Sexy Thrillers," and Blood Moon certainly falls into that category. While I enjoyed the book, I didn’t find it quite as compelling as some of her other works. The story takes place over the course of four days, so I expected a faster pace, but it didn’t feel that way to me. In fact, the action didn’t really pick up until around the 70% mark. Once it did, however, the story became more engaging, with plenty of twists and turns to keep things interesting.

I am normally a fan of this author's books, but this one was a miss for me. It started out as a slow burn, and I just never really connected with the story. I did like the two main characters, and how well they worked together to solve the mystery. Overall this is a 3.5 rounded up to a 4.

Sandra Brown as always, keeps the reader totally immersed with romance, passionate and suspense. One of her best, right up there with ,Envy and Exclusive.

Blood Moon by Sandra Brown has a little bit of everything going on in it. There is the thriller part, the mystery part and the romance part. But as usual the author is able to pull it all together. Very easy read and well written. Characters are well defined.
A reporter for Crime TV, Beth Miller, teams up with a police detective. John Bowie, to solve a cold case. Beth had her won hypothesis as to what happened and that entails a blood moon.
A very enjoyable read; one that is hard to put down. I am a big fan of this author.

I’ve read Ms. Brown’s books for many years and each one is an intriguing as the next. Blood Moon has corrupt police, kidnappings, murder, scientific theories about the moon, and great romantic suspense. There was a lot going on in the book, but I couldn’t put it down, waiting to see what came next.

Between John Bowie as a somewhat disgraced police officer and Beth Collins, a TV producer, their plans didn’t match up with a lot of tension in their work and plenty of chemistry.

The ending surprised me and learning about the criminal, was a tense time period after the last kidnapping and also some interesting twists. Thankfully, there was a happy ending on the kidnapping and the romance between John and Beth.

There’s great character development, intense storyline and intriguing plot. I highly recommend this book and any others by Ms. Brown.

Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this new work.

Beth travels back to her home state of Louisiana to have a private meet with John who was a detective working the case of Crissy, who was kidnapped and presumed dead several years ago. His partner at that time was Mitch, who has since transferred to the DEA. Beth believes the killer will strike again soon as there is a Blood Moon coming.
Between John, Beth and Mitch and the help of other police who still believe in John they rush to find the killer before the next Blood Moon.

I enjoyed this book very much as it was fast paced and a unique story line.

I would recommend this book to lovers of suspense and mystery.

This was a mildly entertaining, mildly spicy, mildly suspenseful story. The plot twist should have hit harder, but didn't. The final conflict was so easily wrapped up I kept waiting for something else to happen. This was only my third Sandra Brown book, so I don't really know how this compares to her others. In general, everything could have benefitted from an intensity increase: the mystery, the romance, the writing...

The ending was rather abrupt, but the epilogue was really sweet - it was probably my favorite part.

Thanks to Grand Central Publishing and NetGalley for the eARC - all opinions provided are my own.

Blood Moon was, unfortunately, a bit of a disappointment. Considering that Brown's books kept me sustained during my romantic suspense era, this book feels lackluster.
The case, in itself, took some time to properly take shape, in the sense that I felt like the characters were going over the same things over and over before real progress was made. The pacing was weird.
As for the romance part, it was mostly lust and gave no real sense of anything long-lasting.
I think I've read better from Ms Brown.

I’m a lifetime fan of this author and couldn’t wait to read it, and I kid you not, this is by far my favorite. The backstory given by tv documentarian, Beth, stuns police officer John with her hypothesis. In working with her, they are thrust into a spin of webs coming from every direction. A murderer or murderers have this suspense thriller spinning action from every possible direction. When I say I couldn’t put it down or read it fast enough, I may be underselling it. Even when I thought I figured it out, and sometimes I did, I didn’t expect the outcome ever. You will need to remind yourself to breathe while reading this!

I enjoyed this book from start to finish, even with just a bit of the story feeling
over done. Readers of this Author are well able to carry thoughts from one
scene to the next without repetition.
I love the ‘Blood Moon,’ backdrop because it’s not your typical serial
killer backdrop. I’m hesitant to dive too deeply into the specifics,
but with a Detective and a TV Producer working through all kinds
of bizarre thoughts and theories, the story develops into a quick
pace and from all over the Country hints and tips and cooperation
rolls into rescue young girls, nail a long overdue rotten cop, and
save victims and cement love.

This one opens with a bang! A reporter for a TV crime series and a police detective hide-out in a Louisiana fishing shack while they try to solve a murder that happened on the night of a blood moon. I would have liked a little more romance but it’s a good mystery that kept me in suspense until the end.

Beth Miller is in Auclair, Louisiana to meet with John Bowie, a police detective that worked on a missing girl’s case three years earlier. She is a fact checker for a TV show in NYC that is getting ready to air a story about the case. But she feels there is more to the story: She thinks there have been more abductions during blood moons and whoever took the girls will strike again in four days when it’s the next blood moon! (The blood moons happen when the sky turns red during lunar eclipses.)

The case has been eating away at John because the abducted girl was never found and he believes the neighbor boy who was charged with the murder and later died in his cell was falsely accused. John is aware of corruption in his police force and he has been warned to stay away from the case so he is wary to talk to Beth. But he wants to know more about her idea that the blood moon is connected to the abduction plus he felt an instant attraction between them. They go to his home to talk about the case but when his dog alerts him someone is outside watching them, they sneak away to his family’s fishing shack where no one can find them. They go over their notes and discuss the case to try and find the murderer before he can strike again.

I thought John was special with his cool dog and how he makes Beth homemade gumbo, while keeping her safe at his shack as they investigate. But when he is frustrated with the case, he becomes sarcastic and snarky, which isn't fun. The case has eaten away at him for three years and he worries about what happened to the girl (they never found her body). As the story went on and his old partner Mitch came to help them, we saw a more caring side of him and I grew to like him better.

Beth is a delight - self-assured, calm and successful and she's not afraid to stand up to John when needed. She found an important clue, which was exciting and impressive. She is thirty-three and John is nine years older so there’s a bit of an age gap but they are intensely attracted to each other and there are a few short spicy scenes.

The story is fast paced with lots of action. There’s the mystery of the disappearing girls, police corruption, drama with John’s teenage daughter and his ex. In addition, there are a few chapters that take us into the villain’s mind that give us insight into his motivation which added to the suspense.

I didn’t always like John in the beginning when he was sarcastic and I also would have liked to see a little more romance between him and Beth but there are lots of twists and turns that surprised me and I didn’t guess who the villain was until the end.

I think Sandra Brown fans will enjoy Blood Moon along with romance suspense fans who like their mysteries lighter on the romance. I used to enjoy Brown’s romance books many years ago and am glad I got this chance to try one of her newer books. The suspense was good and kept me on the edge of my seat until the satisfying ending.

Once again Sandra Brown writes another amazing book. Mystery, thriller, romance and spice what could be better. This was an amazing story and I loved the characters so much. The whole time it kept my attention and interest. I did not see the ending of the cases coming but wow was it a good twist. Highly recommend this story.
