Sandra Brown’s brand of romantic suspense just works for me. I can always count on her to weave a story that keeps me guessing, has me trusting no one, and nonstop turning the pages to solve the mystery.
‘Blood Moon’ is another great addition to her impressive list of novels. This time around, a true crime television producer makes her way to Louisiana in hopes of getting some more info on a missing persons cold case her show is covering. Enter the jaded officer who publicly questioned his department’s investigation at the time of the disappearance. It’s a race against time to outrun those who don’t want their corruption exposed and someone who may be planning their crimes in time with rare lunar cycle events.
I really enjoyed Beth’s character. She was headstrong and intelligent, and she had integrity and a drive to find the truth before presenting falsehoods as facts. I also liked the push and pull between Beth and John. John was a gruff, hardened man haunted by the case he felt his department botched. Buried under all that was a man who cared deeply and wasn’t afraid to go into battle when everything came to a head. The two of them following Beth’s seemingly far fetched theory around the case was intriguing and easy to get wrapped up in as they worked through various clues and threads to unravel.
There were some plot points and characters that felt like they could have been developed with a bit more depth and had me wondering if they needed to be included at all. However, John’s daughter, Molly, and his best friend, Mitch, added a lot to the story for me.

This book really hooked me and did not let go until I finished a day later. *Please note, that there is a dog mentioned in this story and he is perfectly fine throughout.*
Our story starts out with Detective John Bowie (frequently referred to as Bowie in the story) having a mystery meeting in a lonesome bar. When he arrives, Beth Collins is there to meet him. When Bowie realizes Beth is a part of the TV show, "Crisis Point", and is working on a show for the Crissy Mellin case, he immediately shuts off. When Beth brings up her theory about the upcoming Blood Moon being significant, he bids her goodbye and hopes to never see her again. But then things start adding up...
This story was fairly fast-paced and had a lot of action throughout. We are introduced to several characters, but I never found the story to be confusing or convoluted. These other characters are pieces of the puzzle but the main story centers on Beth and Bowie trying to chase down who really harmed Crissy Mellin years ago.
The only part of this story I can say I didn't love was aspects of the romance between Beth and Bowie. There are a few sex scenes, but nothing that I would really consider overly graphic. Almost from their first meeting, Bowie is eyeing Beth sexually. This didn't bother me but I think both characters needed more build-up and depth. Otherwise, it was hard for me to take them seriously; like they are trying to look into this botched murder investigation but also trying to immediately get laid? It didn't seem likely that either character would do that under normal circumstances. Had I gotten to know more about them, I think their attraction would have been more believable.
That said, I still enjoyed this book a lot. I could not put it down and kept coming back for a little more. It's fast-paced, the mystery is multi-faceted, and there's just enough spice to add some additional interest.

Another fantastic Sandra Brown book. I will read anything she writes! This one had me reading right until the end and I couldn't put it down. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy. I am looking forward to recommending this to our customers.

Wow what an awesome read! John Bowie ( like the knife) has always been haunted by the case of a local missing girl they couldn’t solve. Due to a cold case crime show that is producing an episode about the missing girl has the case back in Bowie’s thoughts. Throw one of the producers from the show and his old partner in to the mix they will play cat and mouse to solve the crime before the person strikes again. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Sandra Brown has always been one of my favorite authors. The queen of suspense. This book was good and I enjoyed it.

Sandra Brown's books are a given for me. I've been reading her books since "Love's Encore" and I guess my love of reading has progressed along with her writing. She use to write a good romance and now it is mystery along with a good romance, both favorites of mine in one book. If you have read the synopsis of the book and are reading this review this is about why I enjoyed the "Blood Moon". First of all, I'm big on characters, Strong male and female leads are important to me. A detective and a show producer is like oil and water usually so there is a bit of opposites there, They have agreed to work together on a closed case of a missing girl. I like a good mystery, and this is an entertaining one. Attraction, mystery, a big surprise (didn't see that coming Sandra Brown) makes for a good read for me. Thank you to all for the ARC but especially to Sandra Brown for book.

Lots of great traditional thriller vibes happening in this one -- brooding detective type, a woman who's focused on exposing the truth about a crime, a rural and isolated setting, and a murder that seems to be on the verge of repeating itself. Of course our two heroes must work together while on the run to solve the mystery and stop more murders from happening. (Isn't that why we're here? :) The suspense keeps the pages turning and the twists will keep you guessing all the way to the end!

In Blood Moon, Sandra Brown delivers another successful, sexy thriller. It has all the elements that readers have come to expect from a Sandra Brown book—a brooding hero, a heroine on a mission…circumstances that isolate them from the outside world, mounting suspense, intense romance, and a surprise twist at the end.
Beth Miller works for Crisis Point, a true crime show getting set to air an episode about the disappearance of a young woman in Louisiana. Something about the case has never sat well with Beth, and she travels to Louisiana to interview one of the detectives who had worked on the initial investigation. It had never sat well with him, either. John Bowie worked the case hard, but another ambitious detective in his department used the case to further his career, pinning the disappearance on an unlikely suspect who later died in police custody. The ambitious detective closed the case and got the promotion that would make him John’s supervisor, and John’s life miserable.
Beth’s arrival opens old wounds for John, something he resists until she presents an angle none of them had considered—that the disappearance was tied to the arrival of the blood moon, and that another blood moon would be happening in a matter of days. This possibility gives them the urgency to explore the case on their own, stirring up danger from a number of quarters. They are on the run and in hiding, while trying to solve what really happened, stay alive, and prevent the disappearance of the next woman.
Blood Moon is an enjoyable thriller that will also satisfy fans of romantic suspense.

Beth Collins is a senior producer on the true crime show, Crisis Point. She’s found a connection between a series of missing girls and vows to dig until she can convince authorities to listen to her. Detective John Bowie has been instructed by his boss not to talk to Beth or anyone else about the crime he has determined solved and closed. John never felt comfortable with the outcome of the case and didn’t agree with the resolution. Now that Beth has contacted him with her theories, the two join forces to find the truth about the case John worked on and those of several other missing girls. Both are in jeopardy of losing their jobs but will not stop until find that truth.
An awesome book with twists, turns, lies, corruption, coverups, and more!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a Sandra Brown book I don’t like and this one certainly doesn’t disappoint. You get roped into the mystery straight away. The book is action packed with a hint of spice. Definitely a great read if you’re into thrillers, crime, and romance novels.

See what happens when one determined fact checker. Meets with one fierce policeman. Together they try to solve the case of missing females. Only to be railroaded at each new development. Soon all involved will realize these two will not stop until this case is solved. And all involved are bought to justice.

This is definitely one you won’t want to put down. Plenty of suspense with twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

COMING SOON! - "Blood Moon" - 4 Stars
Sandra Brown satisfies again with her sense of place in Louisiana, her hard edged but honorable cop main character, and her love interest with a touch of steamy.
What works: The plot was engaging and interesting with a focus on ancient moon worship and numerology, both of which were super interesting. There was also the discussion about the dark web and it's use by predators to find victims. It was also an interesting reflection that corrupt cops might use a victim for their own career gains. This author always ties up her endings nicely.
The opinions in this review are expressly those of ButIDigressBookClub and are intended for use by my followers and friends when choosing their next book.

4⭐️s - Sandra Brown has a great formula when writing her books! Love the character chemistry, layered plots, and mystery. It’s just a perfect mix and I enjoyed this one capturing all those elements.
The main characters shine in this one working together to solve the mystery. Interesting incorporating that Blood Moon theory too. There were a couple scenes that kept me on the edge of my seat there towards the end! It all came together and recommend this fun romance thriller, especially for Sandra Brown fans.
Expected release: 3/4/25
✨Special thanks to NetGalley & Grand Central Publishing for this complimentary digital advanced copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Unlike other books that I have read by this author, this book was a very slow starter for me. I wasn’t pulled into the story much, but having enjoyed her books in the past, I pushed through and it got better.
Bowie is a dedicated detective who has that one case he couldn’t solve. The catalyst for his divorce, lots of personal guilt and bad attitude. When Beth, a tv producer comes to discuss that case, he wants to push her away , but can’t, just in case she’s right. The rest of the story is the two of them working together to solve the old case, and a brand new one with personal implications. There’s a few open door situations but mostly hints of possibilities between Beth and Bowie.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

Sandra Brown has been one of my favorite authors for years. Her writing style is captivating and enriched with layers of nuance that bring her characters to life in a profound way. The depth she infuses into her storylines creates a sense of realism that makes it easy to get lost in her narratives. Her books are typically one-sitting reads for me, and "Blood Moon" certainly lived up to that expectation.
From the very first chapter, Sandra's skillful prose flows effortlessly, drawing you into her thoughtfully crafted world. Her ability to create compelling and relatable characters resonates with me deeply and I was gripped by every twist and turn.
The chemistry between John and Beth was electric and tangible, practically jumping off the page. Their dynamic added an extra layer of intrigue to the storyline, making every interaction tense and emotional. As they navigated the harrowing quest to catch the elusive Blood Moon killer, the suspense intensified, keeping me on the edge of my seat. The unexpected twists and suspense kept me engaged and racing through page after page, eager to unravel the mystery ahead.

This book was intense and absolutely unputdownable! I couldn’t stop when life tried to interfere so I utilized the text to speech format and continued gobbling this up as quickly as possible.
Bowie and Beth were both characters that were relatable given that their emotions felt realistic and their flaws genuine. Things were not easy for them in any way as they began to work together on a case that had so many twists and turns, I wasn’t sure what to expect. This storyline could have been plucked right off of a current podcast and in the same manner, kept me glued until the end.

I absolutely love Sandra Brown. This book “Blood Moon” and all of her other books get your attention and hold on to it through out the whole book. I loved the characters and storyline. I did get a little lost or bored 3/4 of the way through but she got my attention back by the end of the book

Couldn’t put it down! Beth and John race against the clock to figure out the mysteries surrounding the blood moon abductions. It started with a bang and didn’t slow down.

This is a really good book. It starts a little slow, but once it gets going. Wow
Good mystery with some twists to it that I didn't expect.
