4⭐️s - Sandra Brown has a great formula when writing her books! Love the character chemistry, layered plots, and mystery. It’s just a perfect mix and I enjoyed this one capturing all those elements.
The main characters shine in this one working together to solve the mystery. Interesting incorporating that Blood Moon theory too. There were a couple scenes that kept me on the edge of my seat there towards the end! It all came together and recommend this fun romance thriller, especially for Sandra Brown fans.
Expected release: 3/4/25
✨Special thanks to NetGalley & Grand Central Publishing for this complimentary digital advanced copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Unlike other books that I have read by this author, this book was a very slow starter for me. I wasn’t pulled into the story much, but having enjoyed her books in the past, I pushed through and it got better.
Bowie is a dedicated detective who has that one case he couldn’t solve. The catalyst for his divorce, lots of personal guilt and bad attitude. When Beth, a tv producer comes to discuss that case, he wants to push her away , but can’t, just in case she’s right. The rest of the story is the two of them working together to solve the old case, and a brand new one with personal implications. There’s a few open door situations but mostly hints of possibilities between Beth and Bowie.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

Sandra Brown has been one of my favorite authors for years. Her writing style is captivating and enriched with layers of nuance that bring her characters to life in a profound way. The depth she infuses into her storylines creates a sense of realism that makes it easy to get lost in her narratives. Her books are typically one-sitting reads for me, and "Blood Moon" certainly lived up to that expectation.
From the very first chapter, Sandra's skillful prose flows effortlessly, drawing you into her thoughtfully crafted world. Her ability to create compelling and relatable characters resonates with me deeply and I was gripped by every twist and turn.
The chemistry between John and Beth was electric and tangible, practically jumping off the page. Their dynamic added an extra layer of intrigue to the storyline, making every interaction tense and emotional. As they navigated the harrowing quest to catch the elusive Blood Moon killer, the suspense intensified, keeping me on the edge of my seat. The unexpected twists and suspense kept me engaged and racing through page after page, eager to unravel the mystery ahead.

This book was intense and absolutely unputdownable! I couldn’t stop when life tried to interfere so I utilized the text to speech format and continued gobbling this up as quickly as possible.
Bowie and Beth were both characters that were relatable given that their emotions felt realistic and their flaws genuine. Things were not easy for them in any way as they began to work together on a case that had so many twists and turns, I wasn’t sure what to expect. This storyline could have been plucked right off of a current podcast and in the same manner, kept me glued until the end.

I absolutely love Sandra Brown. This book “Blood Moon” and all of her other books get your attention and hold on to it through out the whole book. I loved the characters and storyline. I did get a little lost or bored 3/4 of the way through but she got my attention back by the end of the book

Couldn’t put it down! Beth and John race against the clock to figure out the mysteries surrounding the blood moon abductions. It started with a bang and didn’t slow down.

This is a really good book. It starts a little slow, but once it gets going. Wow
Good mystery with some twists to it that I didn't expect.

Interesting story regarding Detective John Bowie of the Auclair Police Department of Louisiana and Beth Collin’s of a television program Crisis Point out of New York. The two worked on the case of the disappearance of Crissy Mellin and the quick closure of her disappearance case that Detective Bowie thought his boss Thomas P. Barker closed too early after some some things happening that shouldn’t have. The story involved the actions of the moon and some very strange activities of different people. I kept reading to see what as going to happen next and didn’t figure out who the bad guy was until almost the end of the story. I enjoyed the book and would recommend this book to others. I read the book a second time to make sure I didn’t miss something. Another good book by Sandra Brown.

Blood Moon by Sandra Brown is set in Louisiana and follows the mysterious disappearances of young women across multiple jurisdictions. Detective John Bowie is haunted by the disappearance by Chrissy Mellin. Beth Collins, who works for the television show Crisis Point, thinks that the case is connected to other disappearances in the area. Will John and Beth be able to strike the culprit before they strike again?
Overall, this was an engaging read that I would recommend to readers who enjoy romantic suspense books or any Sandra Brown fan.
Thank you Grand Central Publishing for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Detective John Bowie worked on the Crissy Mellin case. this was a case from three years ago, Bowieis still trying to cope with the actions taken or not taken during this investigation.
Beth Collins is a producer for Crisis Point a true crime tv series. She is coming to town to talk to Bowie to get the finishing touches for her story. A story Beth is certain is not an isolated incident. There has been a string of disappearance whenever there is a Blood Moon. Beth needs to convince everyone of this theary, so the killer can be caught. Will anyone believe her. Thanks netgalley

Sandra Brown’s storytelling shines with her signature ability to craft suspenseful, character-driven narratives. The plot keeps readers on edge, weaving a tapestry of secrets, dark pasts, and intense emotional conflicts. The chemistry between the lead characters is palpable, adding depth to the suspense as they navigate their dangerous circumstances.

Romantic suspense at its finest! The story revolves around a tv producer and a detective solving murders and we have some great twists and turns. There is a good balance between the romance and the mystery which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I have liked every book I’ve read by Sandra Brown so far!
Murder and romance?!
What more could you ask for!!

In Sandra Brown’s upcoming Blood Moon, New York City television producer, Beth, is hoping to talk to one of the skeptical detectives of a recent disappearance case in Louisiana about new information she’s uncovered that could link it to three other similar disappearances in other states. Detective John Bowie hasn’t released his frustration and determination that the wrong person was collared, leading the suspect to commit suicide while in police custody. Working together against time, John and Beth attempt to find the real culprit before the next blood moon.
Here’s what you’re going to get from this thriller: the Sandra Brown fare you expect - corruption, steamy sexual chemistry between the main characters, a flawed hero who is just trying to right the wrongs of the past, and a heat racing conclusion that will make it hard to put down no matter how late the hour. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for the advanced copy. Opinions expressed are my own. This book will be published on March 4, 2025.

A bizarre story with some fanatical views! Embittered Detective John Bowie and ambitious TV producer Beth Collins are on a race against the clock to solve a mystery and prevent another incident from happening. Along the way things heat up between the two. They also learn things are not as they seem.

Brown is a prolific writers but I’ve only read a handful of her books.. However, I’ve always enjoyed what I’ve read and this is no exception.
There’s a good mystery involving kidnapped girls, corrupt police officers, a petulant teen, a good southern boy detective and an east coast true crime news professional.
It all adds up to a fast paced, entertaining read with a dash of sexy.

I have followed Sandra Brown's literary career and have enjoyed her growth over the years from a romance writer to a superb suspense author. Blood Moon kept me reading as the characters sought to find the truth behind missing girls during a blood moon. As I have grown older, I often find that, not just with Sandra, authors have written in very descriptive sexual scenes which are not necessary to the story. I recommend this title's ability to build suspense and mystery while including good characters.

This was classic Sandra Brown but I didn't have the "gasp" moment I normally do when I read her books. The capture was so anticlimactic, i kept waiting for another shoe to drop. I did enjoy the chemistry between the two leads. A lot of good elements were in this book and I would recommend as a read but not as a page turner.

I have read all of Sandra Brown’s books and have loved them all, I was excited to read Blood Moon, her latest and was not disappointed. This was a great romantic thriller that had plenty of twists and I couldn’t put it down. Thanks to Netgalley for my arc.

I have a mixed experience with Sandra Brown — I really liked her last novel “Out of Nowhere,” but the one before it, “Overkill” wasn’t my cup of tea. I don’t recognize a particular style of hers (beyond interesting plots). Author Brown has been writing since 1981 and is credited with nearly 80 books. She’s been coy about whether co-authors are assisting. For “Blood Moon” I clearly had the vibe that it was written by a man. Either that or the author is *really* identifying with the psyche of a horny middle aged police detective (“she came and came and came….”) The serial killer mystery was enjoyable, but the immediate sexual attraction between the two main characters with a significant age disparity (detective John Bowie and TV producer Beth Collins) was never believable and, in audiobook form, sounded lascivious and awkward. Instead of moving the plot along, grumpy Bowie is distracted by the “half-moon shadows of her [Beth’s] breasts” rather than trying to prove Beth’s theory that there are other murders connected to one of Bowie’s old cases, which all occurred under consecutive blood moons. Like, just, ugh.
I had the opportunity to preview both the book and the audiobook read by Kyf Brewer. Brewer is a great narrator and put the emotion that was necessary into “Blood Moon.” Initially, it hard to tell who was talking when John and Beth were conversing (I’d really prefer a male and a female narrator in all audiobooks), but that was more the fault of the author who goes long stretches of closed quote paragraphs, where, even when reading it, you lose track of who is talking without an occasional “he said” or “she said.” Eventually, I came to prefer Brewer’s narration over the ebook. The plot was interesting enough to keep me engaged to the end. 3 stars for the book (get rid of Bowie’s sexual fantasies that were marginally requited by Beth), and 4 stars for the audio narration.
Literary Pet Peeve Checklist:
Green Eyes (only 2% of the real world, yet it seems like 90% of all fictional females): NO Gray, brown and some impossible “smoky topaz” eyes, but no green ones.
Horticultural Faux Pas (plants out of season or growing zones, like daffodils in autumn or bougainvillea in Alaska): NO The local swamp gets adequately described with its cypresses, live oaks, and Spanish moss.
