I really enjoyed this spooky horror novel. Thank you so, so much to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for allowing me to read this title!

Blurb:
Take the lift to the thirteenth floor, wait thirteen seconds…the key in your hand fits the lock. We’ve been waiting for you.

Inside Suite 13, the floorplan changes when you’re not looking, and the mirrors show you things you’d rather not see. Award-winning author David J. Schow loves the view in this joint…and the room service. You’re invited inside to experience:

Private dicks so hardboiled they’re dead…things lurking in deep, dark cave networks…those who visit your grave when the night winds wail…the easiest way in the world to change your entire identity in a snap…a heister with too many enemies to kill…a deeply-committed cadre of midnight racers…a serial killer fond of observing national holidays…a world where killing children is not only easy, but necessary…

Among these you’ll also see familiar faces such as the denizens of Clive Barker’s Midian (from Night Breed), Mike Mignola’s Hellboy, George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead universe, and Joe R. Lansdale’s world of The Drive-In.

Nonfiction visitors await your pleasure as well: John Wyndham’s Triffids, the “Poe-Poe Platters,” the exploits of the one-and-only Jack the Ripper (all of them) and James Bond, fantastic fictioneers named Bloch, Stefano, Trevanian, and two named Brown, and DJS’s own commentary on everything from the horrors of the 1950s to the horrors of the total end of the entire freakin’ world as we know it!

This volume includes four brand-new stories, never before published.

The darkest party ever is going on in Suite 13…and you’re on the guest list.

What a treat this collection was to me. I defiantly didn’t expect much from it, but I was fascinated on how it did not shy away from getting dark and tuning up some of the horror in each story. It defiantly won’t work for everyone but for those who are always looking for something different and none mainstream, this will work for them.

Suite 13 by David .J Schow, it’s a book of 13 stories some nonfiction, some horror, some hard boiled and of course zombies. I felt so lucky to get this book from such a traveled knowledgeable author on many subjects who writes like a wordsmith whether he’s riding nonfiction or general fiction. I really enjoyed the small town zombie stories. I loved the one about the rockstar the car that had the house built around it because OMG how much money do you have to have, a Bugatti to build your home around it or maybe they took it apart and put it back together inside the home either way wow! there’s a story about his friendship with the author of psycho, which I found Uber. Interesting. There’s so many stories in this book and I wish I could find out who the rockstar was because I think I know, but one can never be certain. This is a great book and I loved it all. The author really has a great writing style unlike anyone else in the business that I really enjoyed. I love to read stories by writers with a knack for forming interesting sentences in an interesting way and that is this author/journalist. this book is original just like the author and it’s a book. I definitely recommend. Whether you’re reading his articles or general fiction you will definitely be entertained. #NetGalley, #SubterraneanPress, #DavidJSchow, #Suite13,

Thank you for the advanced reader copy. Originally I did not finish this book. I was not a fan of the book.

This wasn't bad, but was a lot.
I went in thinking horror story collection but I got Alot of different stories in this mix, and this could throw off readers, especially if you aren't into mixed themes to this point.

I think this could be a great collection if it were a little more curated and some editing. I see the potential.

This collection of horror short stories is as promising as the cover. I liked them for the most part abd do look forward on reading more from the author. The addition of both fiction and nonfiction content was indeed unique and I recommend it highly.

i just could not get into this book. it felt like it was written by a cishet white man who both thinks he’s ‘woke’ and looks down on people who are and would write an essay in english 101 about slavery for no reason. the stories were hard to get through and never particularly compelling. it was a struggle to get through this book

This book wasn't bad however there are a lot of stories within the book and they range from a wide variety. There was horror, fiction, non-fiction, and then others are detective based. I liked a lot of the stories but, there were others that I feel just didn't belong in the mix. With some better organization (the non-fiction) this collection of short stories would be amazing.

This book holds a wide variety of short stories. Some are more horror than others. As with all collections, I liked stories, disliked stories, and loved stories. I think this collection would benefit from better organization, especially with the nonfiction.

Some of the shorts in this collection are fine but it's just too all over the place. Some fiction, some nonfiction, some is horror, others are detective based and then it just keeps adding more subjects after that. I like some differences but it just ends up being a mess when it's too much.
