I loved the slow pace of this story, and the way we got to know the main characters with the backdrop of the horrific First World War. It is astonishing that this could actually take place in a modern society.
Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read and review this book.

I thought this story was interesting from the stand point that Venetia at twenty-six would have been considered an old maid by society standards and yet many people including her parents and Asquith’s wife were aware of the affair. Venetia was definitely ahead of her times insisting on an open marriage before she would agree to marry Edwin Montagu. The book brings life to two characters that played a major part in British history during a critical time period.
