This was a 3.5 stars review for me.

This was fun, easy to read thriller. Perfect for a poolside or beach read. Definitely fun and entertaining with one twist I didn’t see coming.

This book was a big surprise! Not only was it a surprise ending, it was also a big surprise in that it was so well-paced and so well-written. I enjoyed the characters quite a lot, though I wish I had gotten to know them a bit better. I appreciate that the author didn’t try to make this into a duology or trilogy, as this book was just long enough. And again, I loved the ending!!! 💜📚

This book has a lot of things I enjoy in a YA thriller: a fractured group of friends, multiple POVs, a town’s hidden secrets and a fun last minute twist. It certainly kept my interest throughout the whole story, but there were a few things that missed the mark for me. I absolutely loved Grace and Henry, but Ally was incredibly frustrating and barely got better. I understood her standing by Henry and his family, but my goodness, she was just awful sometimes. There’s a side plot that was interesting, but no explanation as to why it was happening or how it started, which was disappointing. And finally, the twist before the BIG twist was a good one, but the villain just IMMEDIATELY started spilling their guts the second they’re asked a question. It felt a little silly and kind of a let down since it was such a cool twist. Overall, an okay YA thriller for me.

First of all thank you to Netgalley for allowing me access to this awesome read!

There are some errors on pages still which an editor should recheck. But that didn't hold back the crazy turns this story took.
Ally, Grace and Henry 3 teens did a better job in investigating a murder. Bringing justice to people in their lives while doing things that might be impossible to have to imagine yourself having to face. Loved it!

Thank you to both Liz Lawson and Netgalley for the gifted ARC of “Murder Between Friends” in exchange for an honest review by me.

“Murder Between Friends” was a captivating and thrilling experience from the get go! I could NOT for the life of me, put it down. The twists and turns were incredible. Additionally, I became attached to many of the characters throughout the whole of the story. Their traits, behaviors, and relationships with one another is something I always appreciate in thrillers and mysteries. I am so so impressed with Lawson’s capability of writing full-fledged, in depth characters and relationships. Not only was this book chilling and spine-tingling, it was quite the emotional roller coaster, as well. I truly enjoyed reading this one, and I totally recommend it to anyone who loves thrillers and mysteries with in depth emotional backgrounds.

I thought this book was good overall. It reminded me of One of Us is Lying by Karen. m. McManus. I do feel like the storyline jumped around a bit and I would have loved to see Jake’s character develop more. Overall though I did enjoy the book!

Goodreads review: I received this book as an arc. I thought it was a good low stakes thriller. The storyline got lost a bit towards the end & the ending seemed a tad rushed. I think if you're a fan of the One Of Us Is Lying series, then you'll like this book.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat. It felt a little bit slow at first, a hometown murder mystery requires proper context and setup. But about 15% into the book I was hooked. The three main characters are relatable teenagers who struggle with normal things (besides murder that’s not as common🧐) but they are put into a strange situation. It was an easy read and always had you trying to solve the murder alongside the teenagers. Sometimes you think it’s the right person and other times it leads you to a dead end. If you want a quick and fantastic thriller check this one out!!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Liz Lawson for providing me with a complimentary digital ARC for Murder Between Friends coming out April 22, 2025. The honest opinions expressed in this review are my own. .

I’ve read a few books by this author. I’m obsessed with the Agathas. I really love murder mysteries and the YA genre is fun. I thought the story was really interesting and complex. I enjoyed that they were once best friends and had gone through that trial together. It brought a lot of conflict. I definitely love the writing. I would have to say I didn’t love it as much as the Agathas series. But it was definitely a strong story, and I would definitely read more books by this author.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys YA murder mysteries!

This started off slow for me, but towards the end was so fast paced. Teenagers getting into trouble is one of my favorite themes. The plot was good, each character had a purpose, I was able to guess the twist but still enjoyed the story!

Two years ago, the murder of a neighbor tore three best friends apart--now the killer is going to walk free and the ex-friends are going to have to face the past--and each other--in another twisty thriller from the New York Times bestselling co-author of The Agathas.
Grace, Henry, and Ally grew up together on the same block. They used to be best friends--until Grace's testimony put Henry's brother, Jake, away for killing their English teacher. Now, two years later, Ally and Henry hate Grace, and Grace is doubting what she thinks she saw that night. It feels like everyone's getting a second chance, then, when due to a mistrial, Jake is suddenly released. And Henry knows his brother is innocent, but when Grace reaches out to say she’s rethinking what she saw the night of the murder, Jake’s reaction is confusing. He doesn’t want Henry—or Grace--getting involved.
For Ally not getting involved isn’t an option, and there’s nothing Grace can say to convince Ally she’s not the enemy. But can Ally afford to push Grace out when she’s one of the only other people willing to believe in Jake’s innocence? The clock is ticking. Jake’s new trial date is about to be set, and he's sure to be found guilty again unless there's new evidence to prove he's innocent. Grace, Henry, and Ally are going to have to decide whether you can trust an old friend now that they’re your enemy.

This is an adult mystery that dives into the complexities of friendship, trust, and the search for truth. The story revolves around three former best friends—Grace, Henry, and Ally—who are brought back together by a murder case that tore them apart two years ago.

Grace's testimony had put Henry's brother, Jake, in prison for the murder of their English teacher. However, a mistrial leads to Jake's release, and Grace begins to doubt what she saw that night. As the new trial date approaches, Grace, Henry, and Ally must work together to uncover the real killer.

The novel is not just about finding the person who killed the teacher but it also explores the dynamics among the characters. The author weaves suspense with emotional depth, making the readers question the reliability of each character's perspective. The story is fast-paced and filled with twists/turns, keeping you engaged until the very end.

Overall, this was a thought-provoking and suspenseful read that highlights the importance of trust and the impact of secrets on friendships. It's a must-read for everyone who loves suspense novels.

Thank you to Random House Children's and Netgalley for allowing me this ARC! I’ve been so excited to read this one!

This one had a Good Girls Guide to Murder vibe and I loved it! It’s a fun mystery, corky, YA thriller because it’s based around high school kids but as an adult I enjoyed this read! Easy, quick read. Enjoyed that it was told from the perspective of three kids instead of one but the author still managed to incorporate other characters as well. I definitely recommend reading this one, it’s a fun “who really did it” kind of story!

This was good, so similar to GGGTM in my opinion and One of Us is Lying.
Definitely flew through it fairly quickly, many twists, and turns that will have you second guessing.

This will definitely be a hit for the target audience especially those newer to mystery books.
I picked it up after reading and loving the authors previous books and I found it enjoyable if a bit predictable. I think it was clear from the beginning who the killer was but the ride was interesting and I enjoyed the added subplots we got.
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the advanced copy.
