Enjoyable!

Intense and sexy yet emotional journey of love with some parts to make you chuckle.

I voluntarily read an advanced copy.

I received this book for free in exchange for my review from Netgalley.

I read this book in one night. It was enjoyable. I think that I liked it better than the second book in this series, which I had read prior to this. (You do not have to read the books in order to enjoy them.) This is an alpha male/mob love story. It does have a happy ending, which is not surprising, but the road to get there is enjoyable. The relationship was steamy and did border into a little bit of "kink" without being "full on 50 shades."

Hot romance with some spanking. I don't think bringing reiki healing into this book is appropriate though.
A good mob based story.

Very good story. Kinda sweet.
Perfect for a lazy Sunday.

At the end I wasn't 100% committed to this couple, because the heroine kept putting up feeble excuses that even she didnt't believe.

Read this on holiday, hoping it would be something to add to the bonfire.. but I was left slightly confused.. maybe I wasn’t paying as much attention as I thought, or I’m not fluent in New Jersey mobsters.. still kinda sexy..

The writing was great, loved Joey.

Just didn't like Sophie as much as I thought I would.

Please be warned that this book includes consensual domestic discipline (spanking). If you are not in to this, it would be better to skip this book.

This was a short hot and fast paced romance. Three spanking stars, because I would like more of a story between the two characters and that there is too much kink in this.

If you enjoyed the 50 Shades series, you’ll like this one. Not much story and lots of sex. If that’s your cup of tea, go for it.

This was a good quick read. It was a love story between Sophie (whose father had been in the mob, but been killed) and Joey (the second in command). His brother was the boss. Sophie did not like the "family" and wanted no part of Joey at first, but he grew on her. A lot of this book was about spankings and what they meant to the other person. A little too heavy on that for my taste, but I liked the outcome by the end of the book.

I’m struggling with what to write about this book. I think my problem is that I went into it thinking it had a plot. I thought it was a mafia romance with some kink. But alas, that wasn’t the case. The plot was sketchy and centered around Sophie Palazzo’s misconceptions and her fondness of being spanked. So this turned out to be a spanking story, not a mafia story, and the only romance to be found came from Joey La Torre.

I hated Sophie. HATED her. She was rude, holier-than-thou, inconsiderate, a liar, immature, and just a truly disgraceful character. I found no redeeming qualities about her. She was a 30 year old woman acting like a petulant, lost child. Nothing about her thoughts or actions endeared her to me. I couldn’t care less if she ever found happiness. And I definitely didn’t think she was deserving of Joey.

As for Joey, he was an easy character to like. His brother was the Don, whom he worked for for years, but he was tired of the mob life. He was just going through the motions. And he was ready to settle down with Sophie immediately. I loved how persistent he was. How dominant he was. How caring he was. He was the character to watch out for. He made this story and without his point of view, I probably wouldn’t have finished this book.

If you’re a lover of kink, you’ll enjoy this one. Joey definitely knew how to dole out Sophie’s punishment ;)

The Bossman by Renee Rose is the first book in the series called "The Bossman" series. This is the story of Sophie Palazzo and Joey La Torre.
After Sophie's father died in the Mafia she has turned the other direction by staying away from them. But when Joey walks into her job and starts putting on the charm she is finding him hard to ignore. Joey knows that his life in the Mafia is not something Sophie wants to be near but Joey isn't giving her up either! I have been wanting to read this book and have waited until now to do so. It was so worth the wait. I loved it!

This is the story of Joey and Sophie. Joey is part of the Chicago's mafia and Sophie is a licensed masseur. Sophie used to be part of the "family" until her father died and her mother cut off all connections with the mafia. Joey is hurting on his knee and his doctor suggests that having massage may help him and his mother proposes to him to go to Sophie.

From their first massage session the sexual tension is high. Joey enjoys Sophie's massage and he ends up with a hard-on while Sophie is unexpectedly aroused. When later Joey jumps in to help her with the confiscation of her car, he does not miss the opportunity to take her on a date. They start going out and out of the blue Sophie finds herself enjoying spanking and Joey is there to help her through this explorative journey.

A fast paced spanking story evolving around the mafia world, its dangers, its rules and it's commitments. If you are into BTSD lifestyle, you will enjoy this happy ending story with many erotic scenes.

I received an ARC from Netgalley. If you are looking for a quick read and a fast paced romance, this book is for you. You will definitely feel the connection between Joey and Sophie right from the beginning. 3.5 stars just because it moved too quickly for me.

This was a quick easy read. The relationship between Sophie and Joey was believable, it was good to see a man not afraid to pursue someone but not be over the top about it. Sophie was quite conflicted by her feelings due to her past. The author dealt with this in a good way which allowed Sophie to move forward with her life. The kink in this was spanking and there was a good amount of it I would have preferred a wider variety but I understand why there was so much. Overall a quick read with low angst.

This was a short easy read.
The summary is that Joey is a bad-boy mafia guy and Sophie is a good girl that doesn't want anything to do with The Family. Her father was part of The Family and he was murdered.

This book has a bit of kink with spanking. So if you aren't into reading those types of books this isn't for you. If you are then read on. Sophie really likes Joey's dominant side. And falls for him fairly quickly. She wants him to dominate her with some spanking.

I only gave this 3 stars due to how choppy the book is. There isn't clear format when the thoughts change from one person to another. You will be reading about Joey's thoughts and the next sentence is from Sophie's point of view. So that tends to be a little frustrating.

Otherwise a cute fun smut read. Enjoy!

Thanks to NetGalley for providing me a copy for an honest review.

Sophie always stayed away from the mafia. Her father's involvement ended with his murder. Fifteen years later, Joey shows up at her massage studio. And things go from Hot to HOTTER fast. Sophie isn't usually into aggressive men, but Joey doesn't give up on anything he wants, and he wants Sophie.

A very sexy story, but not for you if your not into BDSM storylines..

The story was fast pace. It seemed the scenes were choppy and had no segue. I had to back up my reading to see what I missed because it jumped right into another part of the story.

DNF - the blurb sounded like something I'd love, but it fell flat for me. I did not leave a public review.

This book read more like a bad version of the Grey books, and I really did not like the 50 Shades of Grey books to begin with. Not because of the hot scenes, no, I know what I was getting into, when I requested this book, but there is no chemistry between the main characters, and it is simply about the horizontal action. Give me a little bit more.

Sophie Palazzo never imagined that falling in love with a mafia don would get her a spanking – and that she would love it!

Sophie Palazzo steered clear of the mafia after her father's involvement ended with his murder. Fifteen years later, Joey La Torre, the Don's brother himself, shows up unannounced at her massage studio and wheedles his way into a date. She has no interest in aggressive, macho men like Joey, or so she tries to tell herself, but her body just doesn't get the message. When Joey takes her in hand with a firm bare-bottomed spanking, she ought to be furious, instead, she's aroused. As she explores her physical desires to be dominated, she tries to keep Joey at arm's length emotionally.

Joey knows he wants Sophie for keeps from the moment he walks into her life. She is hot, classy and full of fire, even though submission turns her on. But his involvement in the mafia is a hard limit for her, bringing to conflict his own dedication to the Family, the code of silence and his relationship with his older brother. Can he reconcile his duty to the organization and his growing need for Sophie to remain in his life permanently?

While this wasn't my type of book because of the instalove and I'm not really a fan of that...it will be someone else's cup of tea. It was a short read for me and didn't take a lot of my time. I'm short on time so for me, a quick read is just what was needed. The plot wasn't heavy. If you're looking for something that is long and involved - this isn't it. I found this book to be just...meh. I didn't hate it and I didn't love it. I wouldn't rave about it to my friends but I wouldn't blacklist the author from my list...so I would definitely read from Renee again. It you like these types of books, then this is definitely right down your alley.

I was given a copy of this ARC from the publisher on NetGalley for an honest review. All of the above comments are my express opinions and no one else's.
