Oh my gosh did I ever have a blast reading Constance Fay’s Chaos! I’ve been following this series since Calamity, and while I really liked both of the previous books (Fiasco included), Chaos was by far my favourite. There was something about the energy, the tension, and the dynamic between the leads that just really clicked for me.

I loved the premise of Chaos and am so glad it delivered on what I envisioned based on the summary. It had everything I hoped for—high-stakes action, emotional tension, and of course, romance. While this book’s female lead wasn’t my favourite in the previous two books, it was definitely different experiencing everything through her POV, and I ended up appreciating her a lot more. She’s now my favourite out of the three female leads. And I really love the male lead (I can’t say more).

Having been immersed in this world for three books now, I really hope the author writes more set in it because I really like spending time there. I had such a bad book hangover after Chaos that I had to really go and hunt down another book with similar vibes to fill the void!

Overall, the plot of Chaos also kept me the most engaged out of the three books (though I enjoyed the other plots as well, this one just held my attention the most). There wasn’t a moment I felt tempted to put the book down—each chapter had something that kept pulling me forward. I would be over the moon if the author wrote more books for this series!

This is the third book in the series following a space mercenary and a super soldier whose mind-control breaks when she touches him. Fay is a great writer, and I loved exploring the world again after reading books 1 and 2. This book had a fun storyline that kept you on its toes with all the action and the fast pacing. Honestly, these people don’t get a break for what they all go through. However, did I like this book more compared to 1 and 2, not really but it was still great. This book is told from Caro and Victory’s pov.

Caro is the FMC, and I liked her character. She was interesting and I loved seeing her discover the hideen truths. Then we have Victory’s pov. I personally didn’t find her as interesting and wish this book only had Caro’s pov or her and Levi. We do have many side characters in this book to keep the story going and showcase possible future books. The romance is a slow burn, but I didn’t enjoy it as much as books one and two.

The ending was good and overall, this was a good book. I liked the storyline but do wish the romance was good. I’m excited for the next book and see where Fay takes on with this world.

This series just keeps on getting better and better. I'm becoming quite attached to the crew members of Calamity and I need more.

The pacing and plotting of this series leaves something to be desired (just needs a little tightening) but I don't mind a bit because the characters are worth it! I was so excited to see this was Caro's book, and she absolutely was worth the wait. Levi was compelling and lovely, just exactly who Caro needed. I'll be continuing the series for Itzel (and maybe Victory and Victor?) for sure.

It took me a bit longer to get through this one compared to the prior two books in the series, HOWEVER, I loved this one the most! The tension not only between Levi and Caro, but also the concept of what makes us human (or monsters), was extremely well done. GR81 is an iconic character, as well, and the banter was top notch! I giggled more than I expected to and this provided an excellent distraction from the chaos (see what I did there?) that is life. If you love a snarky FMC, a snarky side character, and a mountain of an MMC who would do anything for the woman he likes (loves?), then this is a great book for you!
I especially loved the inclusion of new characters from the universe and hope to see more of them (if there are more books in the series/offspring off this series). I know who I want the next book to be about!

I took the time and slowly went through the first two books to get a feel for the third and it helped to not feel a stranger in this world. I can also say that i loved them and the third was such a fun read, it was entertaining between the pages.

Caro Ogunyemi is an engineer that is supposed to be resting when her ship's crew takes a break after a big mission. Instead, she decides to pick up a solo mission from an ex-boss who totally didn't give her all the facts. She is supposed to be breaking into a remote prison planet to extract two missing guards from his team who haven't been responding to any comms and also some important tech. What is left out is that the guards might not be communicating because it isn't safe to and oh the tech it is inside a super soldier! What starts off as an easy job ends up being so much more.
A fun and fast paced read!

CHAOS (Bramble, 352 pp., paperback, $19.99) is even the name of Fay’s third sci-fi romance adventure, and if you haven’t heard about this series yet then you have three books of nonstop thrills and pew-pew space lasers waiting for you. Our heroine is Caro Ogunyemi, a renegade engineer with a past she’s determined to keep secret. When a chance to repay some of her moral debt sends her on a solo mission to a high-tech prison planet, she recklessly jumps at it. There she finds Leviathan, a murderous super soldier controlled by an implanted chip that inexplicably fails the instant Caro touches him.

From there it’s a race to the finish, as prison riots, malfunctioning tech and inconvenient but irresistible attraction add twists and turns to this roller coaster of a plot.

this series is just consistently fun! This one had a lot of action and I love the adorable quippy nature of the whole series. I know I can pick these books up and have a good time no matter whole the couple is.

If Constance Fay isn't going to do anything else, she is going to have a hectic heroine. This book names are so on point. Caro is so chaotic but she is well intentioned and trying to remedy mistakes of her past and save a life or three while she's at it. Her love interest is a mind controlled solider that only seems to be able to snap out of it when he's in her presence. This book has all the drama, intrigue, action and bananapantsery that I've come to expect from a Constance Fay space opera. I just hope we get to the mysterious Itzel next! 3.5 stars!

I absolutely loved this book! The romance here is intense, passionate, and so well done. It’s not just about survival; it’s about them finding healing and freedom together. The world-building is fantastic. But what I loved most was the emotional depth. It wasn’t just a high-action story; it was about these two characters learning to trust each other, facing their pasts, and struggling for a future together. The book had me on the edge of my seat, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it even after I finished reading. If you love sci-fi romance with emotional depth and high stakes, this one is a must-read.

Completely missed the part where this was book 3. The premise is amazing but I didn't have time to finish the first books to properly review.

This book is everything I’ve come to expect from Constance Fay: it’s silly, it doesn’t take itself seriously at all, and it is just incredibly fun to read.

For those who aren’t familiar, this is the 3rd book of Fay’s *Uncharted Hearts* series of sci-fi space adventure romantic comedies. The books star the crew of the scout ship Calamity (which is also the title of the first book) as they go on adventures among the stars and find love. The first book was about the ship’s captain, Temper; the second was about Micah the ship’s medic; this time, it’s the Calamity’s engineer Caro’s turn.

Caro is mostly flying solo in this book. She gets a call from Ven, the former captain of the Calamity and Temper’s shitty ex, asking for her help rescuing someone from jail. Against her better judgement, she lets herself get talked into it, and the fact that the person she’s trying to rescue is extremely hot has absolutely nothing to do with it. So she finds herself on a prison planet run by the Pierce Family, one of the capital-F Families that controls everything and antagonists from earlier books (and from Caro’s past, personally, which we learn more about as the book goes on). There she meets the prisoner she’s trying to rescue; a research subject known only by his codename Leviathan. He’s gorgeous, and super buff, and huge; he’s also a mindless killing machine, a prototype Pierce supersoldier. Until Caro touches him; physical contact with her brings him out from under Pierce mind control, and allows him to become his own, kind self again, though with no memories of who he is. He does remember how to kiss, though.

Like I said: this book is extremely silly. It’s the story of an escape from the universe’s most absurd jail - it’s a prison exclusively for high-ranking members of Families that get into trouble, so it’s more like a spa where no one is allowed to leave than anything else. The relationship between Caro and Leviathan is utterly lacking in surprises, but it’s still fun to read about. There *are* surprises in Caro’s personal journey and the way the adventure plays out.

Overall, I think it’s weaker than the first two books, because it’s largely missing the rest of the found family of the crew of the Calamity. They’re not 100% absent, but their appearances are brief. I’m always a sucker for a good found family in my fiction, and I felt their lack. Though I will acknowledge that it was entirely appropriate for Caro, as a character, to try to do everything on her own here, and when they do show up Temper (lovingly) chews her out for it.

At the end of the day, this is a book that seeks to entertain and delight, and it accomplishes this with gusto.

I'm a big fan of this series, even though I shy away from romance mostly. It was fun to read more about Caro here and I love the way Fay's fleshing out characters more and more!

It was a good sci-fi romances. I really liked Caro. She was amazing and brilliant. She's fierce and opinionated. She knows what she wants and gets to it. Leviathan was an amazing, mysterious and deadly MMC. Loved their relationship and banter. They were made for each other.

I had a hard time with the world building. But I saw too late that it was the third book in the same universe. It's advertised as standalone in the same series but I think it's better to read them in order to fully understand what's going on.

I'll try reading the first one to see.

I really enjoyed "Chaos," especially seeing Caro's story unfold. Her mission to help her crew and confront her past by infiltrating a prison and controlling a super soldier with a touch? Pure fun. The ensuing hijinks and escape, mixed with a budding romance, made for a quick, engaging read. I'm also loving how each book expands the Uncharted Hearts universe and crew dynamics. The sci-fi romance was well done, balancing the steamy scenes with a compelling plot.

Chaos is the third book in the Uncharted Heart series, and we finally get to follow Caro! After Caro gets a message pertaining to the safety of her old crew she jumps at the chance to help them out especially since it's in a lab to do with her past. Things immediately go awry and she ends up imprisoned and being chased down by a super soldier, who she can reprogramme by touching. Hijinks ensue and escape plans take action all while a love story is unfolding. I really enjoyed this book and these characters and I look forward to reading more in this series!

Another fun installment in the Uncharted Hearts series. Each can be read as a stand-alone as they focus on a different character but there is a common thread running through. This is a sci-fi romance (or science friction as the author put it) which is a lot of fun. A lot of great banter in this one which I love.
