I absolutely love anything that Steve Cavanagh writes and I adore this series so much. Eddie Flynn is arguably one of the most fun characters to read, with his mix of street justice and playing by the rules, while always being in just a little bit of trouble.
I love that every book is intense and suspenseful and will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. You are never every bored when you are in this series, and you are forever guessing at how Eddie can possibly extract himself from the very complicated situations he finds himself in.
I loved. it. And I cannot wait to see what is next.

I loved Kill For Me, Kill For You so I had HIGH expectations for this book. To say I was bored is an understatement. I’m very sad to say this but I was not pulled to the book like I wanted to be. It’s a soft DNF for me so I will try to get back to it.

This book started off strong for me, but I found myself skimming a lot as it went on. It was interesting and twisty overall though. I was able to follow it easily enough despite the fact that I haven't read the previous books in the series. I probably would've appreciated the story more if I had. That said, this book was interesting enough that I'm at least considering checking out the others.
I read an ARC of this book from NetGalley. All comments are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria books for the advanced e-book. All opinions are my own.
Steve Cavanagh is quickly becoming one of my new favorite authors. While Eddie Flynn walks the line between good and bad regularly, he does morally gray in the best possible way. After Th1rt3en, this book had very big shoes to fill and for the most part, it lived up to it.
Nine points of view definitely was not an experience that I would like to repeat. I found the story as a whole to be a little confusing as we bounced back and forth between so many characters and subplots. The courtroom scenes were somewhat scaled back compared to other books in this series which was a little disappointing.
It was still a typical Steve Cavanagh book and Eddie Flynn will always be a beloved character. It wasn't my favorite in the series but it was still worth a read and I look forward to what comes next.

A slick legal thriller that blends courtroom drama with psychological suspense. Mr. Christmas added a twisted layer to the chaos. A great addition to the series.
Many thanks to Atria and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

While Flynn makes a move to unleash the truth, he soon learns that those from his past have put out a hit on him. Cavanagh delivers a great addition to this series with this legal thriller.
Read if you like:
▪️legal series
▪️unreliable narrators
▪️psychological thrillers
▪️police procedurals
▪️interesting characters
▪️multiple storylines and POVs

All the tough guy buzz words! Con man! Murder! Affairs! Money! Strip club! Cool assassins! Marlon Brando! I got a little lost with all the characters but any time that Ruby or Mr. Christmas was mentioned I was zoned in! Overall I liked the story and the narrator did a great job. It wrapped up a little too neatly, I felt but would definitely recommend.

While I've read another Steve Cavanaugh book, I'm a newbie to the Eddie Flynn series. And after finishing this one, I may just have to go back and read from the beginning to get the full picture. I already love Eddie's slyness and quick thinking as well as his gang of misfit friends. It's obvious Mr. Cavanagh can pen a good suspense novel with a unique plot. But I did get a bit hung up on the amount of characters and numerous pov's finding it confusing at times. Granted, I read this while I had a lot going on so I was probably easily distracted. I still found it entertaining and will likely indulge in the series now. My thanks to Atria Books for providing a review copy via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

There were way too many characters and plots in this book. With a few having zero character development or adding to the story. Bring back when it was all about Eddie Flynn. I like this series, but this book was a flop for me. If you are new to the series, this could never be a random pick-up read.

I honestly did not realize that this book was part of a series until after I already started it. It is the 8th book in the Eddie Flynn Series. I do not feel like reading it out of order made a difference to the storyline.
Ruby Johnson used to live in a rich elite neighborhood in Manhattan until her father abandoned her and her mother. Now her mother is sick, they are living in a bad neighborhood and she is working as a maid and Nanny in her old neighborhood. She witnesses a murder. Eddie Flynn, ex con man, is the lawyer that is defending the individual accused of the murder. And it is not an easy job!
I enjoyed this book a lot. I loved most of the characters, even the ones that I didn’t seem to like. This is a riveting criminal thriller with lots of twists. The chapters were short, the villains were plenty, and the book kept me engaged, guessing what was coming up next. Thank you to NetGalley Atria Books and the author for the opportunity to read this book. My opinions are honest and my own!

Steve Cavanagh can do no wrong for me and has become an auto buy/read author to me. I have not read the entire Eddie Flynn series yet, but I am obsessed and am making my way through them. Eddie is a lovable character and I enjoyed reading about how he tricks corrupt police officers into admitting wrongdoing in court in this book specifically. I also loved reading about Ruby and enjoyed her POV more than the other characters and the ending - *chef’s kiss*. Even Mr. Christmas has become someone I loved in this story, even given his profession. I loved this book and gave it 4.25 stars, only because the beginning (other than Ruby’s POV) dragged a little for me and it gets a bit repetitive that Eddie is constantly talking about being an ex-conman. Other than that, this book was perfect.

This one was so twisty I really couldn’t guess what was happening. It really kept me engaged throughout, and I was eager to find out what happened. There’s a lot of things to keep track of so as long as you pay attention, you’ll know what’s going on. It’s definitely more crime and police procedural. The ending twist was something I definitely didn’t see coming. There seem to be a bit of a lag in the middle but I still think overall it was a good story.

A murder happens right out of the gate—witnessed not just by us readers, but by Ruby Johnson, a nanny and cleaner on a posh New York street. Ruby sees everything, even where the killer dumps the weapon. So she reports it and justice is served by chapter two, right?
Yeah… no.
Ruby doesn’t come clean. And because of that, someone else ends up accused—and defended by none other than Eddie Flynn. What follows is a high-stakes, fast-paced legal thriller full of secrets, tension, and emotional punches.
We also meet Mr. Christmas, a hitman with a code (and honestly, weirdly likable). Eddie and the gang are all back—Gabriel Lake and Bloch’s chaotic dynamic made me smile more than once.
This book kept me up way past my bedtime. The mystery, the misdirection, the looming sense that Eddie’s luck might finally run out—it’s everything I love in this series.
If you’re a fan of courtroom drama with serious bite, you’ll tear through this one.

Steve Cavanagh does it again—with razor-sharp tension, gasp-worthy twists, and courtroom scenes that are as addictive as they are smart. Witness 8 takes the classic unreliable narrator trope and flips it inside out, blending legal drama with psychological suspense in a way only Cavanagh can.

My first “Eddie Flynn” book… thoroughly enjoyed it. I was afraid it would be too heavy on legal/police procedural, but the Ruby chapters were a nice look from the other side.

This story was very entertaining. I will say, the ending could have used some tightening up. It got a bit too explain-y. However, the build up of the story was fantastic and kept me turning the page. I haven’t read an advanced copy so fast in a while. I don’t want to spoil the read but I will say if you are considering this book, just read it.

I received an advance ebook copy of Witness 8 by Steve Cavanagh from netgalley.
This is my first time reading this author, and I'm blown away!
The storyline and characters are so well written.
I was barely focused on the main 'who done it' mystery, because there are twists after twists.
Definitely recommend.

Mood: 🕵️♂️⚖️🧬⏳
🕵️♂️: Fierce detective work and courtroom drama
⚖️: Moral complexity and justice on the line
🧬: DNA evidence, twisty forensics, and hidden clues
⏳: Old wounds reopened and time running out
If you crave smart legal thrillers with morally complex characters, jaw-dropping twists, and a haunting unreliable narrator, this thriller is a propulsive, tension-packed ride from first to last page.

After reading Cavanaugh’s Kill for Me, Kill for You, I was expecting to be excited about this one… but then I realized this was part of a detective series and this is more of a legal drama than physiologically thriller imo, so I was a bit let down

Thank you to Atria Books and NetGalley for this ARC!
I love the Eddie Flynn series and this book was fast paced and action packed. Loved the story line and characters.
4 stars!
