Thanks so much to @onemorechapterhc for this gifted E-ARC, all opinions expressed are my own! Though Iโm five months late in reviewing it, ๐ฑ, I am so glad I made time to give this delightful book a shot!
This is the first book in a delightful new regency romance series, called the Fairfax Sisters, and given that there are four of them, I hope that we can look forward to more in the future!
This book features Phoebe, a girl of only 18, who has been promised to an older widowed Earl, by her older brother/guardian, which was her fatherโs dying wish. Having not even ever had a season, she is dying to have some adventure and to be a heroine before her fate is sealed. So she dresses as one of her brothers and attempts to run away to London for some fun.
Along the way she meets Alexander, a Viscount who seems destined to rescue her from all of her scrapes, but is also promised to another, so the match canโt come to be, or can it?
The majority of the book is set against the backdrop of Bath, is a kissing only romance, and also features an LGBTQ+ character at a difficult relational crossroads, who I hope we see more of in future books.
The book has extensive nods to Jane Austen in its characters, their mannerisms, language, and attitudes. Sometimes this frustrated me, as it made the plot events a little too predictable, but at others it felt comfortable and warm to be with familiar tropes.
This book was great fun and quickly devoured! I hope more of my friends will give it a shot!

I loved this book so much! It was very cute and I would definitely recommend it to any older students (high school) who like romance, especially regency romance. I would love to see more people read this book.

This was a beautiful regency era romcom. It did a great job of blending modern language with the historical setting and a swoony romance.

A fun, funny enchanting book! Love a good regency rom com and it delivered.
The characters felt fully developed and had a bit of a My lady Jane vibes.

Thank you Enemies to lovers with all the Bridgerton vibes โ I was hooked!
Phoebe is such a fun, fiery heroine who refuses to just sit back and marry some old earl, and I loved every second of her rebellion. The way she keeps clashing with the broody, annoying viscount was honestly the best part โ the tension, the banter, the chemistryโฆ SO good.
This book had me laughing, swooning, and totally invested in the characters. I also really enjoyed the dynamic between Phoebe and her sister โ they added so much heart to the story.
Overall, just a super entertaining, feel-good read that I flew through. Iโm seriously hoping thereโs a sequel because I need more of this couple! Five stars from me.
Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC!

The Mismatch of the Season by Michelle Kenney is an absolute delight โ charming, heartwarming, and full of genuine emotion. I adored the vibrant, cozy setting and the opposites-attract chemistry between the main characters. Kenney has a gift for creating layered, lovable characters that you can't help but root for. Their slow-burn romance felt both tender and realistic, with just the right amount of tension and sparkle.
This is the kind of story that feels like a warm hug โ perfect for fans of cozy, seasonal love stories with plenty of heart. I'll definitely be recommending it to fellow readers looking for a feel-good read with depth and sweetness.
Highly recommend for anyone who loves small-town settings, witty banter, and second-chance hopefulness!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this beautiful book.

Due to health issues cannot write a proper review now even if I enjoyed this book. as it's well plotted, fascinating world building, and entertaining. . I liked the good storytelling
A more extensive review will follow
Recommended. Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

I adored The Mismatch Of The Season and read it cover to cover in one sitting. This is a Regency story set mostly in Bath in 1820. It is filled with fantastic characters like Phoebe Fairfax and ViscountnAlexander Damerel, who were easy to love as well as a few like the Earl of Comberland, who I could definitely put in the โstrong dislikeโ basket. This is very definitely an enemies to lovers romance, with Phoebe and Alex clashing regularly as she gets into one misadventure after another. Their banter is witty and there is plenty of humour throughout the book. Itโs not without its emotional undercurrents, however, as Phoebe is essentially being forced to marry a man she loathes to satisfy her fatherโs deathbed wish, while Alexโs brother has issues of his own to address. There were plenty of plot twists and, while I knew things would fall into place in the end, the manner of that happening kept me guessing.

This was a decent book. It's a bit of a retake/redo of Pride & Prejudice and other Regency books. Phoebe wants to have some adventures before she has to marry an old man. She keeps getting into trouble and the Viscount keeps showing up and helping her out.
Overall a decent but not great book.

GIVE ME HISTORICAL ROMANCE OR GIVE ME DEATH. Maybe itโs just my obsession with Bridgerton but I loves good period romance and this delivered on every level, it was witty and thought provoking and adorable.

This story left me feeling like it needed a little more. It had the Pride and Prejudice feel with the characters but it's a really hard love story to pull off and I don't feel this one quite made it. However, what I did love was the adventure and how everything Phoebe tried seemed to backfire on her, which had me laughing on a few occasions. I also loved the regency feel and the use of the slang the author added. Overall, I think it was a lovely, enjoyable read.

Thanks Netgalley for the ARC.
I enjoyed this book, it was a fun and easy read with lots of great characters.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this arc!
This was a fun regency romp overall and I enjoyed it. My main critique is more of a personal preference, in that I wish it had had spice. But still, the characters were enjoyable to read and the plot was a good balance between entertaining and normal.

A lighthearted, cute regency romantic-comedic story that had me smiling throughout. With a wonderful cast of characters, and a plot that kept me invested to the end!

In this book, we follow Phoebe Fairfax, as she tries to have one last adventure before being married off. However, sheโs soon met with adversity after adversity!
My favourite part of the book was undoubtedly the friendship and strong bond between the Fairfax sisters. As for Phoebeโs adventures, it really is pitiful the way that she is set up. I also found it difficult to connect with the authorโs writing style.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a cute regency rom-com, it's low spice, enemies to lovers, and just overall, fun! Phoebe is a strong-willed girl trying to get out of a horrible, arranged marriage and so begins series of misadventures and lapses in the proper rules of society. Always around to see her at her lowest is the ever grumpy and disdainful Viscount Damerel, who can't help but be charmed by her spirit. I feel like Phoebe was a really relatable protagonist, I think most of us feel stuck and hope for a life of grand adventure, I respect how hard she worked to go after it!

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for the ARC
Oh I had so much fun with this! An enemies to lovers can never go wrong, but when you make it historical? Instant hit! I loved how strong and determined Phoebe was. She wasn't the ordinary "I will do as I'm told", no. The characters were great and I really felt the author had done her research on the time period as well. Witty, clever and entertaining this book was a delight to read.

Despite this novel having a confusing start, I quite enjoyed this more than I thought. From start to finish, the FMC, Phoebe, was a strong character and I liked that she could actually stand up for herself and didnโt bend to the way society expected females to act. She was courageous, adventurous, stubborn, had a good heart and so much more. I loved the bond Phoebe had with her sisters. She was very protective.
There were some things that didnโt work for me which was the narrative it was written in. I donโt mind third person, but it got so confusing every now and then, to me it couldโve worked better in first person. Which is why on the romance side of things between the FMC and MMC, it also got a touch confusing when they were supposedly โintimateโ with each other. The ending felt like it kind of dropped off. Donโt get me wrong it was a beautiful ending, but I felt there were things that were left unanswered. Like does Sophie ever find out about the captain? Does the viscount know about his brother? Just some small things for meโฆ maybe itโll get explained in Sophieโs story.
The glossary was good, but it would be great to have it at the beginning of the book ๐
Overall, it was great, so now Iโm in the mood for more regency romance that arenโt bridgerton. Jane Austen, here I come. I want more from this author too!

Big thanks to NetGalley, One More Chapter and HarperCollins UK for the ARC. Canโt wait to read more from this author!!

An overall fun historical romance perfect for fans of Pride & Prejudice.
While this Austen-esque book takes a few liberties with the regency era, itโs perfect for the modern Austen fan.
A really fun and fast read, that will have you unwilling to put it down.
I do, however, wish that some of the side characters got more closure (maybe we will be getting more books set in this era๐ค).
Hoping this author writes more โcozyโ regency romances.

If you liked Pride and Prejudice (novel, film, mini-series) and also the recent film version of Persuasion, you might like this novel too. It's an enemies-to-lovers historical romance, but the language is more modern (not sure whether that is on purpose, though).
Phoebe is supposed to enter an arranged marriage with a much older Earl. She has about three months to escape her fate. Her first idea, running away and joining a theatrical group. Unfortunately, that doesn't quite work out as she planned. She met the Viscount Damerel though. The two of them bump into each other from then on. Phoebe and the viscount cross paths far too often from now on. Most often when Phoebe has managed to get herself into an embarrassing situation.
I liked the plot, but struggled with the aforementioned anachronistic language.
