A delightfully sharp mystery with a unique twist. Engaging and unpredictable. I loved Pomona!
Many thanks to Atria and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Paloma Afton is basically what would happen if Alexis Rose from Schitt’s Creek decided to become a detective—charming, a little chaotic, and way sharper than people give her credit for. She’s got great one-liners, and absolutely zero chill when it comes to solving a murder.
This book is such a fun ride—equal parts twisty mystery and laugh-out-loud humor, with a heroine who refuses to be underestimated. If you love Only Murders in the Building-style amateur sleuthing with a side of sass, Paloma Afton Can So Solve a Murder is definitely worth picking up.
My only slight criticism, and maybe this was my own fault, was that I anticipated this book being much more of a “romance” story than a “women’s fiction” story. I tend to prefer romance, but I still really enjoyed this one!

I knew I needed to read this book as soon as the main character Pomona Afton was compared to Blair Waldorf solving a murder mystery! Mysteries are not my typical genre but I thought this was a fun book. I also enjoyed the romance that was intertwined. This was a fun and fast paced read!

I was caught the second I read that the pitch was "Dan Humphrey x Blair Waldorf." Like hello? Are you kidding me? Say less. The book is being consumed. I had so much fun reading this one! The characters were hilarious, the relationship was adorable, and the murder mystery was entertaining to follow. I love a cozy mystery and I will absolutely be coming back to Bellamy Rose!! She kept me engaged and had my jaw DROPPING at the plot twists.

This was very cute, such an entertaining and fun read! This book follows Pomona Aston who is a hotel heiress. Pomona has to figure out who killed her grandmother in order to receive her inheritance.
Enjoyable but felt a little flat for me at times. The writing is really fast paced.

Pomona Afton Can So Solve a Murder is an amazing time. Pomona is an interesting character who diverges from the usual one note female main character in Romance books. Starting as a rich socialite who knows how to do nothing do herself you see her completely change as a person when she loses everything and becomes “normal” after her Grandma dies. Pom ends up being a kind hearted and passionate individual who you are constantly rooting for!
The romance between Gabe and Pomona was adorable and I really did like their characters together. He seemed to ground her and really helped her adjust to her new normal after she lost everything. Don’t expect this Romance to be the main focus as it is actually more focused on Pomona’s development and actually solving her Grandma’s murder but you get a good amount of Romance to scratch the itch.
I had really no issues with this book. It was a light and easy read that helped me out of a slump and effortlessly made me smile with its great humor and cute moments so I absolutely recommend it!!!

I enjoyed Pomona Afton Can So Solve a Murder, but I wouldn’t say it blew me away. The premise of the story, a quirky amateur sleuth trying to solve a murder, definitely caught my attention, and I loved the vibe of the mystery. Pomona herself is a likable character, full of charm and wit, which kept me interested in the plot.
The mystery was engaging, but at times, I found the pacing a little slow. There were moments when the story dragged, and it took me a while to truly get hooked. I appreciated the humor and the lighthearted moments throughout, but I did feel like I wanted a bit more depth or intensity in the crime-solving aspect.
Overall, it was a fun read with some great moments, but I just didn’t feel that strong connection to the story or characters that would make me rave about it. If you're a fan of cozy mysteries with quirky characters, this might be for you, but for me, it was more of a solid read than a standout one.

This one started out a little slow, but picked up for me. I loved Pomona's character growth and was really happy how everything worked out for her in the end. However, I do think the mystery could have been a little bit more developed. I predicted the ending (there was something I thought was a major clue even if it was not meant to be). It was good, but could have been better.

This was one of my most anticipated, but fell short for me. I struggle with books like this that try really hard to have a specific quirky voice. I can never connect with those types of characters and I should have known going in with the style of the title, but it really wasn't my cup of tea and I had absolutely no connection to the story.

One of my favorite crossover genres is a mystery romance, and this one was great! I’m normally too big of a scaredy cat about mysteries, but this is low stakes and character-centered. I loved the growth we got to see in Pomona as the story unfolded, and I thought the mystery was well-done. The thing that lacked for me was the romance. I wish we got to see more development between Gabe and Pomona because their relationship didn’t seem to be much focus, which made it harder for me to buy into it. Like obviously they are the couple to be, but their relationship progressed seemingly out of nowhere without a lot of foundation. Nonetheless, a good fun read for spring/summer!

Pomona is a spoiled heiress who lives at her family’s hotel chain and has never held a job. She thinks she has the perfect life – until she finds her grandmother murdered. She is then kicked out of the hotel with all funds frozen until the murder is solved! She moves into her old nanny’s son, Gabe’s, apartment since he has a room for rent, and must figure out where to go from here. She needs this murder solved pronto but it doesn’t seem like anyone else cares as much as her – not her family, not the police. With Gabe’s help, she tries to solve the murder herself so she can get her life back, only is her former life the one she still wants?
I was hooked from the start of this one. I love a mystery, I love a romance, and throw in some rich family drama – the perfect story! The secrets, lies, and family drama kept me intrigued throughout the story, and I did not suspect the murderer! The chemistry between Pomona and Gabe was perfect, and I loved their back and forth while searching for clues. While this was a mystery with romance, I think the biggest part of the story was Pomona’s growth. I loved watching her figure out who she really was, and who she could really trust and count on in her glamorous but pretentious life. The whole story was done really well.

I was excited to read this novel from the start and though I enjoyed the mystery and romance subplots, I found myself wanting more at times. Pomona was a likable character as well as Gabe, but could have stood for more development.

The premise had potential, and I was excited to get a chance to read this one, but found myself struggling to connect with the characters and the storyline. The book just wasn't my cup of tea.

After pomonas grandmother is murdered all the families assets are frozen unless they can find the murderer in a year.
Pomona has to live life like a working class person. She also tries to catch her grandma's murderer.

Pomona is a very entitled young woman. She takes her family’s wealth for granted but when her grandmother is murdered she’s forced to vacate the hotel where she lives and has no access to the family fortune. The only way to unfreeze the assets is to solve her grandmother’s murder.
I’m rating this 4.5 stars. I feel like if you like Finlay Donovan you’ll enjoy this. It’s a little goofy a little awkward but very entertaining.

So many Gossip Girl and Blair Waldorf references but make her ditzy. Not my cup of tea or not enough time to really dig into her and show me why I love her.

"Pomona Afton Can So Solve a Murder" is a fun murder mystery that has the energy of "Only Murderers in the Building." I loved Pomona's character arc in discovering herself and changing for the better. I also thought that Gabe was adorable! I wish there was a little more development with Nicholas and Pomona's relationship, but overall it was a good murder mystery.

The premise had potential, and I was excited to dive in, but I found myself struggling to connect with the characters and the storyline. The themes explored didn’t resonate with me personally. While this book may appeal to readers who enjoy this genre, it just wasn’t the right fit for me. I’m sure there are many who will find value in it, but I’ll be passing on future works by this author.

Cute story. I enjoyed the mystery, but I’d have liked to see more development of the romance. I didn’t feel the tension between them building as much as I wanted to.

Pomona Afton, Upper East Side heiress to the Afton Hotels, lives a life of luxury and ease. When her grandmother is murdered, Pom’s standard of living grinds to an immediate halt as the will explicitly states that all assets be frozen in the event of her grandmother’s untimely demise. Pom reluctantly moves in with a roommate, her old nanny’s son Gabe. Together Pom and Gabe set out to solve the murder and restore Pom’s inheritance.
This is a super fun murder mystery romp! It felt very much like if Schitt’s Creek had a murder to solve. Pom was a delightfully naive heiress, and watching her come into her own was really satisfying. I also loved her friendship with Gabe as it anchored her in her new life.
The resolution of the mystery was fun and unexpected. I loved the way Gabe and Pom teamed up to solve the murder, and how their mutual crushes on each other developed into more.
This is a must read for Finlay Donovan and Riley Thorn fans!
