*I want to start by thanking the author and publisher for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book. Very Hallmark, but I liked it.

Fantastic book!! There were so many twists and turns that I didn’t know if Emmy and Jason would get their HEA and I was so happy when they did. I loved all of the side characters and the pop culture references that were mixed in throughout the story. The witty banter between everyone, especially the two main characters, was great and it was easy to see what a connection they had right from the start. Their chemistry was off the charts and I loved them together!

This book is between 3 and 3.5 for me. There were parts of it that I loved, I liked Emma and her daughter, I loved her as an author and it was so much fun watching her get to experience the fun of meeting famous people. I also liked Emma's bestie. Jason was equal parts lovely and frustrating. I loved how engaging he was with his fans and kiddos. But he continued to make really nonsensical decisions. And then Emma's plot to use Jason...I hated that she went along with it.
Overall a fun book.

Thanks to Forever, Hachette Audio, and NetGalley for early copies of Celebrity Crush in exchange for my honest opinions. The book is now available everywhere! I listened to Celebrity Crush over the course of one evening, while cooking and cleaning and packing. Once I started it, I was sucked into the story by the great narration, and it was the perfect romance to binge while getting things done. I mostly listen to audiobooks while doing chores or while walking/commuting - for me it’s the best distraction from anything required which might feel monotonous.
In Celebrity Crush, Emmy is a single parent and a debut author who has written a romance about her celebrity crush. The book she’s written takes off, and there is a ton of speculation about the identity of her crush. When it is optioned as a movie, it becomes an even bigger deal when the producers plan to cast her crush! Emmy gets to meet the crush that inspired the book, and the tension is huge. There is plenty more that happens, but I don’t want to give away too much because it happens in such a fun way.
Celebrity Crush is Christy Swift's debut novel, too. If you like reading books about books and movies, reading romance with older main characters, or if you’ve ever imagined meeting your celebrity crush, I think you’ll like this one. I really enjoyed the narration by Stephanie Willing and Andrew Eiden - I think that’s a big reason why I didn’t stop until I had listened all the way to the end!

Emmy, a debut author, has written a book about her celebrity crushes. Her book is optioned for a movie, and her "dream" crush lands the leading role. On set sparks fly, as she relives all her moments crushing on Jason.
This was a good, cute romance with some funny moments.

DNF REVIEW • The summary appealed to me — I love a celebrity romance and the fake dating trope — but the execution left a lot to be desired. Although there’s always inherently a “lie” in a fake dating storyline, the plot in this one just made me incredibly uncomfortable. I wasn’t clicking with the writing style pretty early on and found myself cringing at the characters (the way they acted and spoke). I can handle complicated, flawed people but these felt immature and juvenile in a way where I could no longer continue reading.

I enjoyed reading Celebrity Crush by Christy Swift. You will fall in love with all the characters. I received an ARC of this book courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and given freely. Happy Reading!

**3.5 Stars
This is such a fun premise: when Emmy wrote a novel based on her real-life celebrity crush, she had no idea what would unfold. After meeting her crush, and sparking instant chemistry, Emmy finds herself having once-in-a-lifetime experiences in the spotlight. The banter between Emmy and Jason is excellent, and I loved the supporting cast, but there were some pacing issues for me. Namely: the chapters from Jason's POV pulled me out of the story. I did however love the mix of social media posts and TV transcripts mixed into the narrative, as well as the abundance of sci-fi/geeky movie references. Overall a fun read.

Overall this was a cute book and as a debut author, Swift did a great job.
The things I enjoyed mostly were the side characters - are there going to be more books after this following these side characters? If so, I would absolutely love that because, in my opinion, the side characters were the real treat in this book. I wish they got more page time.
As far as the plot goes, it felt extremely juvenile. The miscommunication trope is one I'm not a huge fan of but it's fine if it's done right and this just wasn't done right. The issues between the MMC and his ex - weird. The romance between the MMC and FMC - weird. It felt so lacking. I don't understand what brought their romance on other than a simple celebrity crush? Weird.
The book definitely had potential but it fell a little flat for me. Still a cute story so a solid 3 stars for me.
Thanks to NetGalley for an e-ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I love stories set in Hollywood, but Celebrity Crush didn't work for me. It sounded promising with a writer who meets her celebrity crush who was the inspiration for her bestselling novel. So much of this book the presumed tension in this book could have been easily solved if there was more communication in this book. Whether it was between Emmy and Jason, the two protagonists, or Jason and his ex, a more secondary relationship. Emmy and Jason read very immature to me, which didn't help with my reading experience. There are plenty of characters to lead to a series within this world, but I don't foresee myself reading any more if that's the case.
Thank you to Forever and Netgalley for a copy in exchange for review consideration.

Thank you NetGalley, the publisher and Christy Swift for providing me this ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts!
I looove a celebrity romance so much seeing as I’ve been a fangirl for more than 14 years LOL This was such a fun little romcom about Emmy, a woman who dreamt about becoming a New York Tomes best selling author and it finally came true! If this book ever becomes a movie, I will be first in line to watch it! 👀
Tropes:
- Hollywood Actor x Romance Author
- Single Parent
- Forced Proximity

This review is hard to write because I was excited for this book. I haven’t a lot of grace since it was a debut novel.
I think the plot and writing overall were good. Definitely entertaining and it had lots of potential that just didn’t pan out. However I just never bought into Emmy and Jason’s romance. I still have no clue why they love each other. There needed to be way more substance here for me to believe they actually wanted to be together. Do I think if their relationship had been cultivated I would have rooted for them. Absolutely!
I did enjoy the kids in this book. I also enjoyed the side characters, especially cast mates, who we definitely needed more of since it looks like there may be more books after this one with them as mains. I also like that the author wrote in vlog posts and media interviews making it seem very try real and Hollywood-esque.
Overall a cute quick read that will definitely find its people.

Celebrity Crush by Christy Swift is dreamy romance that is also clean! Emmy Ellison has written a book on about her celebrity crush, but without his name. She gets to meet him, help him with some PR, and try not fall in love.
This was a delightful book for me. Emmy is a wonderful character that I enjoyed getting to know. Her life has had some twists and turns, but she is positive and trying to make the best of it. It was fun to visit the world of Hollywood, and travel there with an author. The story had great humor, banter, and a happily ever after that made me smile. It was fun to think about what would happen if you met your celebrity crush and were immersed in their world. The author does a good job of helping you to feel like you are attending those interesting Hollywood parties.
I enjoyed the humor, setting, and romance. I appreciated that the story was clean, full of chemistry and great romance. A wonderful read that you will enjoy. I highly recommend Celebrity Crush by Christy Swift
I was given a copy by the publisher and not required to write a positive review.

Who doesn't love a good Rom-com? I feel like this one hits you from the start and it is so fast paced, fun, and quirky. There's nothing to miss here. Emmy being a social media influencer turning NY best-selling author who wrote a book featuring her celebrity crush Jason.
Emmy and Jason grew close during the book while Jason was trying to rebuild his image and star in the movie adaptation of Emmys' book and Emmy was adjusting to being in the spotlight after being told she wasn't good enough for Hollywood. They both grew a lot during this time and watching them grow together in this fast paced, fun, but brutal world that is Hollywood was so invigorating! I had so much fun reading this book!
If you're looking for a quick read with lots of pop culture, this is it! If you need something more in depth and heartfelt, you might want to steer away from this one till you're ready for something fun!

Influencer and author Emmy aims to garner interest in her book by revealing the celebrity inspiration behind her main male character. When sci-fi tv star and single father Jason is revealed to be Emmy’s #celebritycrush he decides to ride the wave of positive press and signs on to star in the movie version. As Emmy and Jason get to know each other and spend time together they realize just how human and imperfect they are despite their celebrity status.
I’m not a huge fan of the celebrity romance trope but this one was pretty delightful! I do wish there would have been more elaboration on Emmy as a writer and author though!

This was cute! I didn’t love it but it wasn’t bad. I thought the plot was pretty interesting and I liked that the fmc was in her 30s. I’ll def check out Swift’s next releases!

This was a cute, quick rom com and I enjoyed the banter between the two main characters. I felt like Jason was really relatable to what we are told celebrities are like today. They can put on the charm when needed, are often misunderstood, and sometimes turn to alcohol in hard times. Emily was a little immature to have a daughter in some aspects to me. I enjoyed the big celebrity falls for not very well known author view. They were really cute together and I just knew there had to be foul play when those pictures were shared.

Celebrity Crush by Christy Swift is a fun and fast-paced read about Emmy Ellison, a romance author whose bestselling book is being turned into a movie. The twist? The movie’s lead actor, Jason, is the real-life inspiration for her fictional hero. To drum up PR, they team up for a fake dating scheme that quickly turns into something more.
The premise is great, and there’s lots of humor and pop culture references that add charm to the story. However, the connection between Emmy and Jason feels rushed, and their relationship is more about lust than building a real bond. I struggled with both characters at times, especially Emmy, who can come off as a bit immature. Jason, too, doesn’t fully win me over, and some of their actions felt a bit selfish.
Overall, it’s an entertaining and lighthearted read, but the lack of character depth and slow-building romance held it back for me. If you’re in the mood for a quick, steamy book with a bit of celebrity sparkle, this might be a fun pick.

Celebrity Crush by Christy Swift
Emily Ellison is a romance author and on her way up the New York Times bestseller list and her book has been optioned for a movie. Promotional plans for hyping the book and movie have the secret Hollywood crush she wrote into the story set up with a fake dating scheme. Emily is so excited to meet her crush and she gladly goes along with photo shoots and more.
Jason Connor has been an actor for years and has had continued image problems. He’s asked to meet and pose for photos with the author that used him as her hero in a book. He’s flattered and more than willing to play along with his agents advice to make a romcom come true. At least as much as the public will know. But he finds himself falling for Emily and he’s not sure how to handle all the feelings.
🎧 I alternated between an ecopy and an audiobook copy of this book. The audiobook is narrated by Andrew Eiden and Stephanie Willing. Both do a phenomenal job with their POV chapters including emotions, and character voices. From apathy to joy the enthusiasm of a good story came through making it entertaining to listen to as it progressed. I think these two narrators made a great pairing for this romcom. I listened at 1.5 for a standard conversation speed.
The audiobook narrators made the characters come off the page making it my preferred format. The podcast characters were a bit over the top but it’s Hollywood.
A romcom crush from page to screen and from writer to actor. A clean, feel good read with engaging banter. Definitely an author to watch.
I received a copy of this from NetGalley and publisher Hachette Audio.

the concept for this one was really fun - small-time author, emmy ellison publishes a book inspired by her real life celebrity crush, jason connor. the book is picked up by a movie producer, with jason as the main male lead & emmy's #celebritycrush intensifies - but is it mutual or just a PR stunt?
i enjoyed this one - it was a decently quick read with some fun twists throughout. there were a lot of little nerdy easter eggs & references to past movies/stars that were neat to find. i liked that emmy's character was a little odd & sarcastic.
there were some parts that came across as a bit much, but i think that's just how the insta-love trope works. i really liked the inclusion of interviews & blog posts - they were nice way to breakup the text & i felt they also gave context to the characters.
overall, it was entertaining - i think a movie adaptation could be fun.
