Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
It was a good book for the ending of the duology. I think I liked the first book better but I had fun with this one too.
I really liked how Clara's powers were fleshed out. The multiple POV and trying to piece together the events ourselves was a nice touch. I'm glad to finally have the answer to who was the murder. I've been waiting for this since the first book.
The best part was still the characters who were Lost and became a twist of the fairytails. The pacing was a bit off and slow in the middle but it became better when it picked up.
The main villain was very interesting and seeing them slowly losing it in the end was entertaining.
I liked Clara here a lot better than the first book. Maybe because I already knew her? Axel was okay but he was putting so much pressure on her when she was already doing so much, it was maddening.
I really liked the duology. It was a very interesting read and I loved the magic.

Just as fun and magical as the first book, the author creates a beautiful world for you to be transported to. I highly recommend this book.

If you’re a fan of fantasy reads, I found a good one for you. The Deathly Grimm by Kathryn Purdie is coming soon.

In this sequel Clara and Axel have returned to the village, but suspicions grow about why they were only able to save four of the Lost. The villagers want answers and want to have their Lost returned to them. Clara and Axel return to the forest searching for the way to break the curse completely. They encounter even more deadly individuals from various fairy tales and Clara even helps a frog return to his human state. As they try to find the way to break the curse, they find their relationship strained. Does saving the village mean sacrificing their relationship and even their lives? A nice conclusion for this duology.

Perhaps I would have liked this one more if I would have read the first in the series. I love a good fantasy/fairy tale, but this one just was not my cup of tea. I never connected with the characters and the story seemed to take a long time to get nowhere. The repetitive unnatural writing was also unnerving. I kept thinking, if Clara complains about her S-curve one more time, I am going to lose it! Who would keep saying that instead of "My back hurts" Anyway, I could see this working for some readers, and I really loved some of the fairy tale tie ins and the shape shifting element of the story. It just didn't hold my interest, and I was glad to finish it.
Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martins Press for providing me with an eARC of this book to read and provide an unbiased review.

4 STARS! If you have read The Forest Grimm, I know you will love this one a little bit more! Why? The writing and plot of this story was absolutely a dream and addicting to read. Who also doesn't love a murder mystery mixed with forest grimm tales? I adored this story.
Getting down to the nit and grits, I was hoping more of the twisted tales mentioned in the story. The page count could have been a bit shorter, I felt like the riddles were overworked with the guessing and I was eagered to figure out who was the murderer... I think I had a pretty good idea of who it was when reading around 60% of the novel. The story was clever itself and having Clara figure her own talents. I was hoping for more magic or magic elements in the story but I think it would drown out the mission of the story. Ollie was absolutely my favorite character and this book definitely pulled some heart strings.
Thank you Netgalley and the Wednesday books for giving me the opportunity to read this. This was my most anticipated reads and I am so grateful I got to read it!

The stakes are raised for the main characters as they come to terms with the fact that it's time to finally lift the curse on the Forest Grimm and Grimm Hollow, and there are more spooky retellings of the Brothers Grimm's fairy tales. Clara has to learn how to use her abilities and tell what is real and what isn't along the road. Overall really happy with this duology!

4.5 rounded up
I actually enjoyed this more than the first book.
This book reminded me more of The Brothers Grimm movie from 2005. It has a darker feel to it than the first one.
The added emphasis of the mystery or catching a killer really drove the story.
Overall I really enjoyed it and felt that the ending was very satisfying and not as predictable as I originally thought it would be.

Thank you NetGalley for the ebook arc. I loved this first book, but this one fell a little short for me, in some areas of the book I felt like they drone in and it dragged. I still enjoyed it so 4 stars for me.

this is the sequel and conclusion of The Forest Grimm, a very intriguing and magical read from start to finish! I’ve been anticipating this book since reading the last page of the first book! Clara, with her red cape, goes with Axel again through the forest to attempt to find the missing page and the m*rderer who started the curse. those who wonder in the forest with no protection usually become lost easily and succumb to the magic, becoming a dark form of what they are lost for.
in the first book we discover some characters that are lost inspired by Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and others i’ve forgotten. In this one we get Jack and the Bean Stalk, Rumpelstiltskin, Snow White, and even Princess and the Frog. but it’s all twisted and in a merely subtle form or mention, definitely not a disney vibe.
I really enjoyed this one for the most part, i did feel like it was a bit dragged through, i was hoping for some more forest intervention like in the first book. I was genuinely surprised from the twist in the end! and am glad Axel and Clara finally get to be happy together.

This was a good conclusion to the duology. I didn't love this one as much as the first one - I felt like some of the storyline got bogged down a bit, but thank you so much for the opportunity to read this one! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher!

After surviving the Forest Grimm and the dangers that lie within, Clara and her friends are devastated to find that they have not fully broken the curse. They must find the missing page from Sortes Fortunae, the Book of Fortunes and find who was responsible for killing Bren Zimmer. When villagers are being lured into the forest again, Clara and Axel must enter the forest and finally find the truth. With the help of Clara's visions and some of the Lost, the story of the curse's beginning starts to be revealed, but Clara and Axel must hurry. If they cannot break the curse in time, their home will be destroyed by the Forest Grimm.
The Forest Grimm was a 5-star read for me last year. I loved the different characters that Clara and her friends found in the forest and was eagerly waiting for the sequel after reading the cliffhanger. The Deathly Grimm was the perfect conclusion of The Forest Grimm duology. I loved the new characters that we find in the forest and enjoyed reading about Clara's character growth as she learns to use her visions in the forest to help break the curse. Clara and Axel's relationship is also put to the test as new discoveries about the curse is brought to light. The conclusion was beautifully done and although not everyone gets a Happy Ending, it was the perfect ending to this story.
The Deathly Grimm is available on March 25th.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to review The Deathly Grimm. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Reread The Forest Grimm just so I could read the egalley for The Deathly Grimm. Fun and entertaining read. It was an adventure going back into the Forest Grimm. It was a little more fast paced than the first book with even more stories and magic.
Thank you
NetGalley and Wednesday books. I was not obligated to leave a review. All opinions are my own

Such an excellent conclusion to this fairy tale retelling duology, which I will absolutely be adding to my bookshelves! The teenage angst was a little much in places but I’m thirty-seven so keep that in perspective. This is a fun, interesting, and age-appropriate YA novel that I would feel comfortable recommending, so high marks to Ms. Purdie for “The Deathly Grimm.”

Thank you @wednesdaybooks #partner for the gifted copy of this eARC!
Yesterday I posted my review of The Forest Grimm and The Deathly Grimm is the second book in this duology! In this book, we are back in the mysterious and enchanting world of The Forest Grimm where Clara and Axel thought they had tamed the beast however discover that really there is more work to be done to balance what’s wrong in their world. This time, they need to explore the Forest to find the murderer who started it all. Their journey is anything but easy as they encounter riddles, women that will pull them into a never ending dance, and ghosts! Clara and Axel must survive the trials, solve the mystery and escape the eerie and terrifying forest that will restore peace.
This was a satisfying conclusion to The Forest Grimm duology. As with the first book the setting and mysterious and dark elements are my favorite part! I loved the different and creative adventures Clara and Axel had to overcome. Once again, Kathryn blends The Grimm Fairy tales into this story and truly it has made me want to go read more of them. This book is very imaginative, creepy, and had a perfect blend of feeling familiar but different vibe because of the fairytales expertly woven in! If you are a fan off immersive magical storytelling with twists, a touch of romance and darkness then this duology would be perfect for you!

The story of The Forest Grimm continues in this thrilling sequel where Clara and Axel must return to the forest to once and for all find what they need to cure the village and the forest. Clara must use her visions, wits, and strength to navigate her way not only through the forest, but the past. Can she and Axel survive the forest and its challenges and finally put an end to it all?
I definitely enjoyed this sequel. There wasn’t a dull moment to be had once they made their way back into the forest. I enjoyed the riddles, the songs and the twist of each fairy tale that surfaced in the story. It was well done and I loved how each fairy tale popped into my head before it was named.
Clara remained a strong character, even through her hiccups. She was truly determined and I loved how resilient she was along with Axel, despite everything they’d been through and were going through.
If you enjoyed the first book, definitely don’t miss this one! If you enjoy fairy tales, magical forests, mysteries and murder, I recommend giving this duology a try!
Thank you NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press and Wednesday Books for the chance to read the arc to this awesome book.

Thank you NetGalley and Wednesday Books for the ARC.
This book was a nice completion of a duology with an interesting story weaving the characters of traditional Grimm tales into a new tale and a giving them a different life. The twists and turns as Clara and Axel fight to figure out a murder and finally break the curse keep you guessing until the shock of learning who did it. Like book one it can be a bit confusing at times to follow and I had to read something a second time to make sure I understood. Also, I still don’t understand why they constantly mention Clara’s scoliosis, it never plays any significant part so it is weirdly forced when it is constantly mentioned.

This wasn't anything that I was expecting at all! This is such a good thriller and kept you to the edge of your seat!

While I did not like this as much as the first one it was still really good! I love the world and atmosphere of this story!

Kathryn Purdie takes readers back into the dark Forest Grimm in “The Deathly Grimm,” the sequel to “The Forest Grimm.”
Filled with more eerie retellings of the Brothers Grimm’s fairytales, the stakes are somehow higher for the main characters as they realize that it’s time to break the curse on the Forest Grimm and Grimm Hollow once and for all. Along the way, Clara must learn how to wield her powers and distinguish what is real and what isn’t. But that is easier said than done in the Forest Grimm…
“The Deathly Grimm” is an excellent follow up to “The Forest Grimm” and serves as a great conclusion to the duology. Purdie cleverly twisted several more classic Grimm fairytales to suit the needs for her plot. She also filled the story with twists and turns to leave a reader guessing what will happen next. Some twists are definitely a little predictable, but that doesn’t make them any less fun.
If you’ve ever watched “Once Upon a Time” and wished it was just a little darker (and have a less confusing family tree), then “The Forest Grimm” duology is definitely a series you should check out!
I received a digital ARC of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
