Tana French is one of the best of the best and this is no exception. I will read everything she writes forever, no one else gets the creepy fascinating weird but normal vibe that she has down so well.

One of the things I like about the Dublin Murder Squad is the focus on different members of the detective team. the plot was interesting. Although I understand that because of the location of the murder, a girls' school, it was necessary to use teen age language, but I felt it went a little overboard. As a teacher, I realize kids talk that way but many of them can use language older people can understand. The introduction of the paranormal in this book seemed a little strange.

I am reading everything I can find by this author now. The book was well paced and I enjoyed the protagonist very much. Will be looking forward to more.

I found it interesting to hear the teenage girl side of the story. The way they told the tale and how their conversations went made me think back to my days in school. How I thought I knew my friends so well and that we told each other everything, then the rumors and gossip would start. I enjoyed that there were two groups, the popular better than everyone else and the wierdo’s. It was entertaining watching them place the blame on each other all while not really knowing who the actual killer was.

Throughout the story I had many theories as to who the actual killer was. Tana French did an excellent job at keeping me guessing and not truly giving away the real killer until last part of the story. As my first Dublin Murder Squad book I was not familiar with the characters, but this did not slow down my reading and hinder my enjoyment of the story. It was nice that I could just pick up the book and read without having to learn the background of every character and the history of their relationships.

I will be looking for more of this series and certainly checking out the past books. A good mystery is hard to find and I believe this is one of the best I have read in quite a while.

As much as I truly enjoyed Tana French's previous entry in this series (Broken Harbor) which made me want to like this one as much, it just wasn't possible.
This story centered around a near Cold Case of the murder of a teenage boy at a girl's boarding school. The characters of the girls in attendance lack dimension and made it very difficult to plow through the story. The pace was too slow in spots which made me as the reader want to say "Get on with it" and the high school girls just were too over the top caricatures of what I suppose boarding school girls are believed to be. Sadly disappointed.

This was more enjoyable than I thought it would be. This was about girlfriends being awesome friends to one another. It is about heart and the bond of female friendship. It is also about strength and I think that's missing from a lot of books. There is also murder, mystery, banter, and secrets. I won't give much away but I enjoyed this and want to read the rest of the series.

Although I was approved by NetGalley to read and review this novel, I was delayed significantly in downloading it and never got the chance to begin reading it. The novel sounds like a good read and something I would enjoy. I hope to get a copy of this novel at some point soon, so that I can give it a proper review.
