The Woman in the Cabin by Becca Day delivers a solid mystery with a chilling setting that draws you in early. Though the plot has some twists, parts of the story feel predictable and certain characters lack depth. It's an enjoyable read for fans of light thrillers, but it doesn’t quite leave a lasting impression.

Wow! This thriller was so gripping! I really enjoyed my reading experience with this one and was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I loved how creepy Cal was and how the story was told. There were so many twists in this book.

An edge-of-your-seat thriller. This had me hooked from the first page and I couldn't put it down! One of the best I've read in a while!

So much tension, which just keeps building and building. It's fast paced and I read it in just one evening. So creepy!

The Woman in the Cabin is a chilling, atmospheric thriller that draws you in with a quiet sense of dread and never lets go. Becca Day masterfully builds tension, layering the story secrets, shifting perspectives, and a creeping sense that something isn’t quite right. The remote setting adds to the claustrophobic mood, and the characters are complex, haunted by both past and present. It’s a slow-burn psychological mystery that delivers both emotional weight and gripping suspense.

"The Woman in the Cabin" by Becca Day is a heart-pounding thriller that hooks you right from the start and will not let you go to the last page. The book masterfully explores topics of manipulation, gaslighting, control, and abuse. The characters are well developed, the plot is compelling, and the storytelling is great. I found it impossible to put down. I absolutely recommend this to any thriller reader. Such a creepy thriller set in the remote Scottish highlands that will keep you awake well into the night.

This book kept me interested the whole time—it was full of suspense until the end. Sure, some parts were a bit predictable, but that’s expected. The story follows a woman living in a remote cabin with her husband, Cal. They met in Scotland and now stay deep in the Highlands, far from everyone and everything. There were also some surprises along the way that I didn’t see coming!

I loved this book from the very first chapter. The setting is a character in itself. The Woman in the Cabin is a fast paced thriller that will leave you on edge till the very end. I did not see the end coming, and I love that in a book. This book maybe a bit much for some so check the trigger warnings.

3.75 rounded up

Mary is in a remote cabin in the Scottish Highlands, playing the role of Cal's perfect wife. However, Mary is fearful of Cal and trapped. She's tried to leave before, but has never been successful. She's come up with a new plan, but will it be enough?

I've read a few books with a similar premise before. This story was different from some of these other books, but still drew on a lot of the same premises. I did find some parts a bit predictable but other parts were truly surprising. I also really enjoy Becca's writing style. I will definitely be reading more of her books! I loved the quick pace, isolated environment, and the looming sense of dread.

Thank you Embla Books and NetGalley foe the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 stars rounded up. This book definitely held my attention, but it wasn't a fun book to read. I was filled with dread and anxiety while reading it and kept waiting for the villain to get what he deserved. It was a twisty tale for a bit at the end. There was a part that made me question everything for a minute there - in a fun way. It wasn't a ground-breaking book, but it was easy to read and decent for what it was.

I read an ARC of this book from NetGalley. All comments are my own.

The Woman in the Cabin was an excellent read. It was filled with twists and turns, and it soon became apparent that not all was as it seemed. I have read similar stories before, but I still enjoyed it and it kept me engaged until the very end.

Thank you to NetGalley and Embla Books for my ARC.

The hairs on the back of my neck were on full alert in this creepy and disturbing thriller. The woman in the Cabin is a chilling read featuring 'Mary' who aims to be the best housewife to keep her husband happy. Lately, she is showing signs of aging and is displeasing him. She fears her days are limited. She can easily be replaced. You won't be able to put this down. #thewomaninthecabin #beccaday #emblabooks #netgalley

This is a suspenseful page turner, more and more is revealed as the story unfolds, what is the truth?
Mary is seemingly under Cal’s control, living her life in a cabin deep in the woods.
Mary is at Cal’s beck and call as she keeps the house operating, I wondered how much of Mary’s life she knew, prior to the cabin, I also thought that Cal was hiding a lot from Mary.
When Mary finds evidence that she is not the first woman to live in Cal’s cabin, life gets interesting and there are more questions. The fear and uncertainty surrounding Mary’s choices opens up the mystery, suspense and possibilities for her future.

Thanks to Embla Books, NetGalley and the author for the opportunity to read and review this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

A pretty good read… I’ve read a lot of kidnapped girl books and this one wasn’t too bad. The psychology of control with deprivation, brainwashing is interesting. By the end I was skimming it to get to the result.

Definitely not what I expected, but in a good way - this was incredible! Completely gripping and enthralling, and just a complete rollercoaster of emotions. So many twists, some I saw coming but there were far more I didn’t. Definitely a book I’d recommend

I found this a brilliant book but deeply disturbing in places. Mary lives in a cabin hidden in the woods in the Scottish Highlands. Her husband, Cal, goes to work each day and returns, expecting the food to be ready and the house clean—the perfect wife. But the reader soon understands that not everything is as it seems, and so we are drawn deeper into the web and fabric of the story. I would really recommend this book.

This book was full of suspense and I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I didn’t expect it to be as good as it was but it really surprised me and I enjoyed all the twists right up until the end.

It took me a while to get into it, but once I did I was hooked and really intrigued to see how it would play out. The main character was abit annoying and I couldn’t quite relate to her. I did enjoy the book but felt the ending was rushed and didn’t really do it for me. Felt like the book was abit pointless by the end.

This was really enjoyable. A well written book full of suspense with interesting characters that kept me hooked throughout. I couldn’t wait to find out how it would all end and it didn’t disappoint.
I’m looking forward to reading more from Becca Day.
