🐶 Say You’ll Remember Me 🐶
By Abby Jimenez

When life doesn’t send you a knight in shinning armor, you get a veterinarian. Same thing, right?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

📖 An immediate must read book!

☀️ Mark this down as another summer 2025 read, but please keep a few tissues nearby.

🐱 Not a spoiler but important before you read- no animals die in this book. Take a deep breath now. I was in a panic a few times, thinking to myself “there’s no way Abby would do this to us…” She doesn’t. It’ll be ok. BUT she does crush our hearts and play with our emotions in many other ways, so I guess that’s the trade off.

💕 I absolutely loved this, and even though it’s considered “romance” it’s not a “rom-com”. This is real life romance! Filled with choices, decisions, and hurdles to overcome. People face real challenges in life and romance in real life is rarely a knight in shinning armor. No rainbows and butterflies. But that’s what makes this book so perfect, because it’s as close to reality as one can get.

💬 There might be no such a thing as a perfect guy, but Xavier Rush comes disastrously close. A gorgeous veterinarian giving Greek god vibes—all while cuddling a tiny kitten? Immediately yes. That is until Xavier opens his mouth and proves that even sculpted gods can say the absolute wrong thing. Like, really wrong. Of course, there’s nothing Samantha loves more than proving an asshole wrong…

Another amazing read from Abby Jimenez! I loved how relatable the characters are. Abby writes books that are so relatable that you easily get swept up by the story. I couldn't put the book down from beginning to end. It was so good!!

It really pains me to have this opinion, but Say You'll Remember Me is the first Abby Jimenez title that I have picked up and struggled to get through. The writing is fast-paced and easy to get through, but I really struggled to emotionally connect with our main characters, Samantha and Xavier. I felt like their connection was VERY insta-lovey, which I am never a huge fan of. I understand how their instant attraction was meant to serve the plot of a realistic willingness to pursue long-distance, but it was just too unbelievable for me. Loved that Xavier was a vet but asking out a client on a date while on the clock was so bizarre and gave me the ick I'm sorry!

I also found Samantha to be a bit insufferable at times, with cringe dialogue and bad attempts at incorporating references that might appeal to readers (the ACOTAR ones were particularly bad - anything that references the online book space in a contemporary novel is always going to take me out of the story). She also had a bit of a "not like other girls" energy to her. It was just a bad mix.

Not only could I not get invested in their relationship, I found that the emotional heaviness of the side plot outweighed the romance. I like how Jimenez explores other storylines and relationships outside of the main romance in her novels, and I normally really enjoy the way humour and lighter, swoony moments balance out the more somber or serious elements of the story, but this was not the case here. I really hate to say it but this is my least favourite title from this author thus far, although I am still interested in checking out her future works as I believe this was just one miss after some solid entries.

Abby Jimenez hits it out of the park again. While at times I got frustrated with Samantha, Xaiver was the perfect fictional man I wish existed in the real world. He is the definition of if he wanted to he would in all the ways. Also the pets in this book and the original vet are the most precious things ever. Appreciated the way this book navigated the trials and tribulations of a family member having dementia and the toll that takes on everyone involved. Per usual with Abby's books the story took me through the gambit of emotions the good, bad, and ugly leaving me uplifted and heartful and warm at the end. I don't know what extra ingredients she uses in her book because I devour them and leave no crumbs.

Abby Jimenez and her writing has done it again 🥹🫶🏼 this book has so many emotions in it. It’s not just a cute little romance. The book tackles many real-life issues and the all of the characters are relatable. I feel like every reader can find a character in this book that they can connect with.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5/5

Ahh Abby Jimenez. She can do no wrong. Say You’ll Remember Me is another emotional, swoonworthy romance full of lovable characters. My emotionssss.

Samantha and Xavier have the perfect first date..until they have to admit that it is the wrong time for a relationship. The problem is neither can forget each other. What follows is the definition of right person, wrong time trope.

I always love an Abby Jimenez book. This one is just as perfect as her others. Give me her next book stat.

I am a big Abby Jiminez fan and this one fits with her usual books. The story felt less focused on the relationship and more focused on the character's family life/problems/etc. I didn't love how overly heavy the book felt, and the "Instant love" trope is my least favorite. But if you like Abby's books, I'm sure you'll at least enjoy this.

This is a delightful grumpy/sunshine romantic comedy by a master of the genre. We access both Samantha and Xavier’s POV in a meet-cute that’s primarily concerned with a cat’s butthole. You read that correctly. She’s a loudmouth who won’t take “no” for an answer and he’s an upright vet who reminded me of Ted from Schitt’s Creek. Unfortunately, just as they show one another the time of their lives in a very funny locked-room scenario (literally), Sam reveals she’s about to move away to take care of her mother, who has dementia. What unfolds is their mutual denial of the depths of their feelings, but we don’t waste too much time on the contrivance of “We can’t possibly allow ourselves to do this!” Instead, the romance unfolds long-distance.

The characters are nicely motivated. Her, by loyalty to her family, and her desire to make meaning from Mom’s remaining lucid time. Him, by his family’s chronic lack of emotional support, which has turned him into a high achieving good boy. Low spice and complicated yet delightfully human family relationships really round this one out, though there isn’t much here that you can’t find in many other romantic comedies of this stripe. The voice and humor really carry the day.

3.5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

I cannot say how excited I was for this book! Abby Jimenez has become one of my favorite authors in the genre and I knew I would devour anything she put out. Now I bet you are looking at my 3.5 stars and wondering what happened? Well, there were so many amazing, hilarious, and beautiful moments in this book, but it sadly got repetitive for me. I will break down the pros and the cons, but all this is not to say I didn’t enjoy the experience (I finished it in a day!), it was just not my favorite Jimenez book to date.

I LOVE the premise of this book, and I LOVE almost everything about the first half of the book. I flew through the pages and could not put it down.

The idea of a whirlwind first date that lasts hours past when you’d imagined with hilarity and flirting - what more could a gal ask for! I will never hear Come On Eileen and not think about their UFO escape room. I thought the chemistry between Samantha and Xavier felt genuine, and it had me blushing at how cute it was. The dialogue between Samantha and Xavier is so good.

I think Samantha is an amazing MC. She’s hilarious, strong, and dedicated to her family. I’m so glad she didn’t give up being with her family for a man, and I really is a well-thought-out character that shows love and flaws in a really real way.

Xavier is also cute, a headstrong and stubborn man who falls head over heels for Samantha. I love the interactions between him and all his side characters, but I wish we got a little more from him. After a few chapters, he started to feel more one-dimensional, and overall, at about halfway through, I’d get to the end of a chapter and it would end exactly the same over and over: “our chemistry is perfect…but the distance!” I know it’s a part of the story that Samantha brings out more in him, and that the whole point was the distance, but I found myself a little like “ok I get it they are far apart, what else?”

I did love seeing their dates in the beginning, but even their visits as I got further in the book just got a bit boring.

Now, the relationship between Samantha and her family was fantastic. As someone with a family member who has Alzheimer’s, this felt like a very real a relatable struggle I’ve seen up close and personal. I thought Jimenez handled it with care and depicted the pain and love that shows when you are faced with something like this. It was beautifully heartbreaking to see.

Overall, I recommend this book and have recommended it to many friends already, just not my top favorite Abby Jimenez book of all time.

I am so mad at myself for taking so long to read this book!! This book was an absolute love and I now need to buy the physical copy. If you have ever been in a long distance relationship you will definitely relate to this book. It touches on all the hardships of loving someone but not being able to be with them the way you want to be. Both of the characters make it work and seeing them grow together was absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend this book and I can't wait to read more from her in the future.

Abby Jimenez always delivers captivating romances that hook you right from the beginning. I immediately found myself fully investing in the characters and the storyline and stayed up way too late wanting to finish this book. It was a deeply emotional book with lots of tough topics discussed. Great read but not the most light-hearted romance read out there.

I feel like I say this with every Abby Jimenez book—but this just might be my new favorite!

Samantha & Xavier’s story is breathtaking. With its rawness and authenticity, it reads like a true story unfolding right in front of you. Abby has such a gift for writing characters you instantly care about and connect with.

The emotions in this book are deep. Samantha’s struggles are heartbreakingly real, and the way Abby weaves love and hope into her journey is nothing short of beautiful. I wasn’t ready for this story to end, and honestly? I’d be first in line for a sequel. I need more Samantha and Xavier in my life!

WELP Abby does it again. Her writing is impeccably fun and readable, even when the topic is heavier - and this one certainly is heavier than her usual books. My heart broke for our FMC as she watched her mom progress into dementia - and man, did I ever want our two MCs to get their hard-earned HEA! I inhaled this one in a day - while nothing tops my all time fave, part of your world, this one had the heart, hope, and great love we’ve all come to know and expect from Abby. Another winner!

As an Abby Jimenez lover, I was expecting to love this and I’m so sad to say it just wasn’t for me. While her writing is emotional and well done with characters, I wasn’t able to feel the chemistry between our love interests. I think I also didn’t enjoy the mentioning of Rhysand from the ACOTAR series, but that could just be a personal preference (it just pulls me out of the story and feels like a pop culture reference, which isn’t my fav). I’ll still be happily tuning in for whatever Abby writes next!

Abby Jimenez delivers a deeply emotional and authentic love story in Say You'll Remember Me. Jimenez's signature blend of humor and heartfelt storytelling makes this novel a standout in contemporary romance.

Say You’ll Remember Me is Abby Jimenez at her best. You’ve got two relatable humans falling in love and a very real, painful event keeping them apart- literally. Samantha and Xavier have an amazing meet-cute thats actually more of a meet-hate, and not long after go on the first date to define all first dates. You will wish you had had this first date. Abruptly, family and professional circumstances tear them apart, and we spend the rest of the book watching them negotiate and finagle their way back together.

I laughed, I cried, I cherished - and you will too.

I loved Abby Jimenez’s last book “Just for the Summer” so my hopes were really high for this one. I was unfortunately let down. It just wasn’t the trope for me. I felt like our mmc did everything and the mfc didn’t give any energy. It was still a good book overall just not a trope I love.

LOVED!!!! Xavier is a fantastic vet and he tragically meets Samantha when she brings a kitten in. They go on a date only to find out Samantha is moving across the country the next day. To hear the story about her mom and see the struggle she goes through was so extremely difficult. The ending though was everything for me.
