Abby Jimenez’s latest novel was cute, but it wasn’t my favorite. Xavier and Samantha had great chemistry from the start, and their relationship kicked off with a lot of sparks. But for me, it leaned a little too hard into the insta-love trope, which isn’t usually my thing. Even though it’s not my favorite setup, I think Jimenez pulled it off pretty well, and the first half of the book kept me hooked. But by the second half, things started to drag. It felt like they were just getting hit with problem after problem, and since they were already so into each other, the excitement wore off a bit.

One thing the book did really well was its portrayal of dementia and the challenges of being a caregiver. Jimenez handled this with a lot of care and realism, and I really felt for Samantha and her family. It added a lot of depth to her character and made her relationship with Xavier more complicated in a good way. I loved how supportive and understanding Xavier was, but at times, the focus on their individual issues made it feel like the relationship took a backseat. I wanted to see more of them actually together, instead of just dealing with all the obstacles in their way. Overall, it was a good read, but it didn’t quite hit the same as some of her other books.

This book was absolute perfection. Every single detail was perfect and the characters were perfect and every word on every page was perfect. I will accept zero criticism about this book or Abby Jimenez in general because this book absolutely wrecked me in the best way. That’s it. That’s the review. Read this immediately. 😭🥰

While I finished this one several days ago, I have really struggled on how to rate and review it!

Abby's romances always have something heavier and more emotional involved, from infertility to parent issues and beyond. This time, main character Samantha's mother has dementia, and she moves home to California to care for her, leaving behind her adopted town in Minnesota and Xavier, the man that she just had the world's best first date with. The connection between the pair stretches across the country as they try to find a way to make a relationship work from afar while struggling with their own daily tasks.

The romance is definitely one of insta love, and the beginning of the book brims over with joy, fun banter, and cute moments. The pair's initial meeting had me laughing out loud, and their date night was memorable to say the least.

I ended up feeling like this was more aligned with contemporary fiction or WF than a romance. The connection between the two frays and wears as they struggle to find ways to see each other in person, and things got repetitive in the middle of the book while they struggled with this. They each have important things keeping them where they are, and it is hard for them to look forward to a future where they are together when they can't see a way to make it work.

The back portion of the book is trauma city, with everything that could possibly go wrong going wrong. I did find beauty in the way Abby describes the importance of witnessing someone else's life, of being the one there making the memories and holding on to them. If you are someone who holds memories dear and who feels deep nostalgia, this book will absolutely bring you to tears

Thank you to Forever for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Too heavy for my taste in a romcom. Did not like the aspect of a long distance relationship either. Flat characters.

Say You'll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez is a beautifully emotional romance that tugs at your heartstrings. The chemistry between Samantha and Xavier is undeniable, and I loved how their love story unfolded amidst the challenges of family, sacrifice, and distance. Jimenez does a fantastic job balancing humor, romance, and real-life struggles, especially with the themes of caring for a loved one with dementia. A heartfelt, touching read that I couldn't put down!

Memory plays an important role in "Say You'll Remember Me" with coping with how to deal with a family member losing their memories and figuring out how to make memories with your partner 2000 miles away. I appreciated seeing how memory was talked about with Samantha's family and her relationship with Xavier. While the book has its funny moments, it is a heavier story that left me wondering until almost the very end how things were going to resolve. (I thought the story hit rock bottom, but then it went even further down). Overall, I enjoyed this story from all the cute animals to the relationships.

I don't think Abby Jimenez will ever disappoint me. Say You'll Remember Me was another heart-wrenching romantic tale that just kept me reading and rooting for the main characters. While there were important, serious topic explored (dementia), it only added to the love story. Fantastic read!

I was hooked by this one immediately! A hot stoic vet and a silly social media marketer? Say less. Xavier was certainly written by a woman, seriously the words and actions of this man were simply two perfect. I also really enjoyed the plot, there’s definitely some heavier topics in this one and it really puts a spotlight on what it’s like to be a caregiver.

I think toward the end of the book I got a little annoyed because it felt like the characters were just consistently complaining about being long distance. I get that was their main relationship hurdle but at the same time I was sick of hearing about it and struggled to push through. It was a lot of whining and nothing was really happening.

Overall, it was a solid read. A lot of laughs, love, and heart. Would recommend to AJ lovers!

i've read this in one sitting and i have so many thoughts. okay. this is more women's fiction than romance. i don't understand why abby's books are "rom coms" when there's no comedy evenly distributed.

i work as an occupational therapist, so i'm familiar with neurologic conditions and let me tell you. being a caregiver is a lot. it is a lot to take on and it is not easy. dementia... is not easy.

now can we talk about the one line that i can't let go of. "her ex husband omar has a sex addiction.... she got full custody and he fucked off back to his motherland". first off. where is his motherland? who is omar? with context clues and the current state of the US - my assumption is he's african american, SO we're sending him back to africa? are you kidding me? i'm actually disgusted and disappointed. i'm so tired of racism and now i'm finding it in a book that's supposed to be a romcom???

let rhysand go. he does not need to be talked about every five seconds. i cant tell if she's for me anymore... i'm really sad and really disappointed. i wish there was more romance, more care into these characters, and awareness of harmful ideas.

This is another great love story from Abby Jimenez with a satisfying mix of humor and drama. The romance in this story feels like it's happening between real people and the obstacles keeping them apart stem from real challenges that people have to face in life. And still, there's charm and wit, adorable side characters and witty dialogue.

Abby Jimenez is one of my all-time favorite authors. She makes romantic comedies come to life in a way that is real, human, and relatable... even if you haven't yet found The One. 'Say You'll Remember Me' is possibly her best book yet. It made me laugh and cry and gave me warm fuzzy feelings. This is a book you won't want to miss!

It pains me to give an Abby Jimenez book anything less than five stars because she is one of my favorite authors, and I will forever read anything she writes. However, I have to be honest—this book started out with so much potential but ended up feeling a bit repetitive. And the ending… just grrr—my biggest pet peeve: the characters finally resolve their major conflict, and then the story is O V E R. Whyyyy?

Now, onto the good parts—and trust me, there are a ton. I love, love, love the two main characters. They are both so likable—no, lovable—and they seem like the perfect pair. The dual POV totally works in this novel and was absolutely necessary. It’s a very touching, somewhat sad story with a lot of frustrating, real-life moments, reminding us that not all books can be fairy tales.

This was a tough one because I found myself both loving and hating it at different points, but I never stopped rooting for the main characters. I’ll still recommend this book to all my friends, as I always do with everything Abby writes!

Sweet long distance romance by romance queen Abbey Jimenez. Per usual Abbey tackles real life issues while also creating a sweet romance. This was not my favorite of her books overall but it was still really sweet and real.

Much like Just For the Summer, Jimenez dives again into the complex relationships and dynamics that family can bring into our lives. In this read, she explores the heart wrenching effects of a parent suffering memory loss, alongside the complications of experiencing a long distance relationship. She pairs all of this with a heartwarming, undeniable love story between a vet and a social media manager. While the topics get tough, she weaves the pain in with laughter (including our main characters hilarious social posts) and adorable animals. Jimenez will have readers laughing out loud at hilarious references, as the book is very deeply entrenched in 2020’s pop culture and memes. This is ultimately a story of triumph, what sticking with your beliefs can lead you to, and the incredible power of love. We witness the strength of family through coworkers, deep friendship, blood relatives, strangers, and more.

My gawd. This book. I can’t remember the last book I read that made me start crying so early in the story and kept me crying throughout the whole damn thing! And not because it was super sad, although the aching is still lodged firmly in my heart. But also because of the sheer loveliness of the writing, the depth of emotion generated, the way the relationships are all beautifully wrought and so much more. This is a gorgeous read and I am very much looking forward to the next in the series I just realized will be forthcoming! 💜📚

I so wanted to love this book and I think if I had gone into it with a different mindset I would have enjoyed it. This is a SAD book. Dealing with a family member with dementia is a HEAVY load and Jimenez does handle the complexities very well. The love between Xavier and Samantha is sweet, but seemingly toxic in their love for each other- leading Xavier to the hospital with pneumonia. Samantha gives up her career to be the full time care giver of her mother and Xavier goes into more debt to leave Minnesota for her. This is a crushing book with romance in it. If you are looking for a romantic easy book to escape real life- skip it.

I loved their journey to one another. The setting of this book is very realistic to what real life is. It was refreshing to read something other then billionaires romances or teen rich kids…

I’m not crazy about instant love but their progression to one another got me hooked.

Loved, loved, loved Tristan. I need a book please for him…. I think that goes for the hole family.

I would love to see Dan’s journey through his wife’s illness.

Loved it.

Beautiful real-life love story!

Abby Jimenez’s ‘Say You’ll Remember Me’ moved me in so many ways. This is a story about finding your person and choosing that love over and over despite all the messiness of real life. Samantha is a glass half-full person who loves her work as a social media writer and is deeply devoted to her family. Xavier is a grumpy veterinarian who admits he often prefers animals to people.

Samantha and Xavier are always showing up for each other while they both deal with real life struggles.

“That there is nothing more beautiful than being a witness to someone’s life. To know them inside and out and be with them through everything...”

If you’ve read Jimenez’s other books, you know that the author writes the BEST book boyfriends. And Xavier is another great example. He doesn’t just say the words ‘I love you,’ he also shows his love through consistent actions. Xavier adores Samantha and does everything he can to make her life easier. And he’s smoking hot too.

The book deals with some difficult subjects (read trigger warnings) which Jimenez portrays with great sensitivity but doesn’t shy away from showing us life’s struggles. Yet the story remains hopeful and has a lot of humor too.

Abby Jimenez will always be an auto-buy author for me. This story will stay with me for a long time.

Many thanks to Forever Publishing and NetGalley for this ARC. Say You’ll Remember Me will be published on April 1, 2025.

This book was phenomenal! Pretty sure this is a new favorite Abby Jimenez book now. There were too many good things about this book.

First the writing. I have always loved how Abby Jimenez writes. It is so fresh while also hitting on harder topics. I love how she is able to incorporate more modern pop culture references and slang without making the writing cringy or dated. There was also never a point while I was reading where I was bored. She also did a really good job at depicting having a family member with memory loss. She was able to show that there are hard times but there are also good days. I related so much to the family as someone going through this as well right now, I was comforted in the fact that these things that I feel are felt by other people in these situations.

Now for the romance. I LOVE Samantha and Xavier. I love the fact that they both fell hard and fast. I love that Xavier is so grumpy with other people but as soon as he sees her, he lights up. I love how the conflict between them played out, and how there was a certain something that did not happen. There were so many quotes from this book that were between the two of them on love and what love and relationships are to them that I just loved so much. I actually highlighted things while I was reading for the first time ever!

This book was perfect, and I am so grateful that I got to read it early.

Say You’ll Remember Me

“Love is the brightest color in a gray world.”

Wow this was hard to read. Samantha and Xavier are in an impossible situation. She’s in California, living as a caretaker for her mom, who has dementia. He’s a vet in Minnesota, struggling to make ends meet and keep his new practice a float to defy the expectations of his abusive parents. They’re meant to be together. They’re perfect for each other. They just happen to live worlds apart and can’t afford the flights to see each other often.

Samantha and Xavier both know life is hard. Through their story, they learn that love makes it worth it.
