Abby Jimenez is an auto-buy author for me, and this book is another perfect example of why. She blends whimsy and misery in a way that completely captivates while tackling real-world, rarely discussed issues.

Love, love this so much! I only discovered Abby Jimenez last summer, and after reading her wildly popular Just for the Summer, I just had to read her entire backlist. I enjoyed every single one. When I was able to get an arc of her new book, of course I jumped on it (thank you, NetGalley!).
Xavier is a veterinarian who meets Samantha when he flatly tells her that she should euthanize the kitten she found because it won’t survive without an expensive surgical procedure. She tells him off, raises money for her kitty, and he is forced to admit he was wrong. They go on one date (extra-long because of circumstances beyond their control) before she moves from Minnesota back to her childhood home in California.
Jimenez has created another couple of characters who grapple with real-life difficult situations amid their love story. Samantha’s family is wrestling with her mother’s early onset dementia as it progresses, creating strife among her father, grandmother, and siblings. Xavier, driven by the need to prove his abusive parents wrong, works endless hours at his clinic and local animal rescue shelters. Samantha and Xavier seem to be locked into their long-distance romance for the foreseeable future, living for all-too-brief times when they can reconnect.
As usual, Jimenez made me laugh and cry multiple times. The scenes with Samantha’s mother are especially poignant for anyone with a family member who has dementia. Beautiful and heartwarming—highly recommended!

First of all, this has got to be the funniest, cutest "Meet-Cute" of all time. FMC meets MMC when she brings an abandoned kitten to his vet clinic where she finds out that it has no BUTT HOLE. He recommends euthanasia as the surgery is extremely expensive, and she refuses stubbornly saying she'll come up with the funds. She starts the most adorable Go Fund Me in the history of time, and the rest is history.

Well, sort of. Tragically, the two have a once-in-a-lifetime first date, but then FMC character is moving out of the area to help in the care of her mom who has advanced dementia.

I won't give any major spoilers, but I have to say that some of the MC's decisions after this point just seemed unrealistic and serving only to force the main conflict of the book. I felt like there was a fairly simple and obvious solution to their problem and they just kept making it worse. Especially the FMC's behavior was almost bordering on acting the martyr.

With that being said, the narrative really kept me engaged. The humor was perfect IMO - enough to keep a mostly heavy topic somewhat lighthearted while not devolving into silliness. I loved the pop culture references, and the overall tone.

I believe many readers are going to absolutely love this book -- I enjoyed but couldn't get fully onboard.

I am so so honored to have been chosen to ARC read this book. As a romance lover, a Certified Dementia Practitioner, and a granddaughter to someone living with Alzheimer’s Disease, this book is everything. Abby did it again. Sam and Xavier are everything. The portrayal of the family caregivers is everything. The complexities of duty and desire are everything. This is her best book yet.

this one was sweet and sexy…. love a romcom where the guy is completely obsessed (in a good way) with the girl.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for offering me an arc of Say You’ll Remember Me! This was a very cute, yet complex romance novel as it dealt with many deeper topics. Abby Jimenez is very hit or miss for me. She didn’t completely miss in this book, but I do feel like, at times, it is a bit TOO cheesy for me. If you are an extra cheesy romance lover, you may really enjoy this. I know many people have had nothing but great things to say about Abby’s books, and that makes me happy because I love supporting a local author (I live in MN as well).
Overall, I think that this book didn’t exceed any expectations I had because it just felt a bit more repetitive than her past books, with less of a plot and more of the main characters inner feelings about the obviously tough situation they are in while doing long distance after first meeting.
Not completely my cup of tea, but I would say that Abby Jimenez fans should still read and see for themselves!!

A cat with no butthole, mustard, a VILF, and a UFO escape room walked into a bar… Come On Eileen began to play.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

While this is definitely not my favorite Abby Jimenez book, I still very much enjoyed myself, and that’s the kind of book I want to read. I giggled and smiled and cried and awwww’d.

Other reviews have pointed this out but there was a lot of telling not showing when it came to Sam and Xavier’s love. Would’ve loved a bit more on their times together.
I will say this, I LOVEEEEEEEED Xavier as a character. He was interesting and sweet and incredible and lovely and a total simp. I love a simp MMC. Samantha however… she was a little selfish for my tastes, and while I love to turn my brain off around my man (which thank fuck I can do so sometimes!), relationships are 100/100, and this was Xavier putting in ALL the emotional heavy lifting.
Something feels missing here, especially compared to Yours Truly (my fav) where it was so perfectly flushed out and well rounded story & characters.

Regardless if you’re an Abby Jimenez fan you’re going to like it, overall a nice read!

I think, perhaps, I didn’t love this book was because it felt like a very early draft. Maybe it was. Regardless, the writing felt sloppy and read like someone trying to use slang (and failing). I loved the plot line and I loved the characters. They both had appropriate amounts of depth and emotion and everything that makes book characters feel real. And yet, the writing ruined this for me. I couldn’t get past how much I didn’t like the writing. I hope this is just because it’s a first draft, and I will be checking out other books by Jimenez so I have something to compare it to.

Oh Abby, you played hard with this book. This might be the most emotional book yet by Abby and I am so thankful that I had book friends on standby to hold my hand as I read it. Xavier and Samantha are truly love at first sight. But life and proximity and circumstances work against them and against them and against them.

I will admit that the opening chapter was almost too much. The cat situation was almost enough to boot me out. But the longing and the story were so good that I am glad that I kept reading. Again, this is not an easy one. They both have real life problems that kept them apart. But in trusted Abby fashion, the pay off and HEA are worth all of the heartache.

I could not put it down!

Abby Jimenez really puts the comedy in Rom-Com. This book was laugh out loud funny, but I still managed to cry.

Samantha and Xavier are such a fun couple, I loved the family dynamics, and all the animals!

- Long Distance Relationship
- Dual Point of View
- Complicated Family Dynamics

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

One of the biggest pieces of feedback I get from customers about this author's work is that they are often frustrated by significant miscommunication between characters that lasts too long. In the past they have specifically asked me about this and then avoided buying her books because of it.

I am SO pleased that Say You'll Remember Me will satisfy these readers, as it did me, by NOT having miscommunication play a significant part of the third act. Do the characters experience hardship? Yes. Do they question their relationship? Yes. Do they have a multiple-chapter misunderstanding that could be cleared up with a simple conversation but never is until its too late? NO THEY DO NOT! Rejoice.

This was a quintessential Abby Jimenez novel, full of emotion, heart, and humor. I liked the characters and how much they supported each other through difficult circumstances. I think that is what made this one stand out for me... instead of separating during a hardship they came together even more. I did feel the ruminating and lamenting about their situation (often via internal dialogue) lasted awhile and could feel repetitive at times.

I laughed a lot reading this book, and I loved the animals. Even the hardships felt true to life. I especially liked how neither character expected or forced the other to just get over it (toxic positivity is also frustrating to read!). One thing I'd like to see reduced a bit is the pop culture references (Rhysand) and Jimenez-centric references (the line about the bakery was forced) because for new readers it can begin to feel like an inside joke they're not in on.

I am excited to recommend this to readers when it comes out this spring! It is one of my new Abby Jimenez favorites.

Another greta book by Abby Jimenez. Even though the topic is hard to read about at times, Say You‘ll Remember Me leaves you with a hopeful feeling. The book shows you can get through dark period of times but with the right support system, everything feels a bit lighter.
I loved how Jimenez showed how both characters had to fight for their relationship and it wasn’t easy but in the end, they knew they were each others person so it was worth it.

I am so excited for Abby Jimenez next book and will definitely recommend this one to friends!

This book was so wonderfully written and also so emotional for me. I thought this would be more of a “rom-com” story but I would say it is actually more a 50/50 split between romance and literary fiction. This book felt so much like real life: the grief and heartache was so real and powerful. I loved the characters and their chemistry. They loved each other from the first time they met. It felt like one of those true loves that you can’t put down. You love to read it and maybe it’s over the top but why else do we read then to feel all of those gushy feelings?? As odd as this is to say, I liked that they had visible things they were working through from the start. Nothing is more frustrating than getting to the part of the book where they need space. In this story, there are still times they are apart (spoiler: understatement of the year) but it feels natural and not forced.

The dementia storyline was very emotional for me and the way she wrote the different character stories around it was wonderfully done. The heartache that each character experienced was so relatable and while I wanted the MMC and FMC to pick “the easy way out” and be together, the story wouldn’t have been as impactful if she wrote it that way. I LOVED Xavier and Samantha and their characters were perfect in every way. I don’t know if I will ever reread it, which is rare for how much I loved it, but I can say that I was so happy to have gone on this journey and experienced it. It was a beautiful story and though I don’t like to cry, I give Abby a bow for bringing tears to my eyes.

As always, she makes such amazing reads. Always will recommend her for a good romance. The next book always better than the last one she has written. I laughed, I cried and repeat. Everything seems just real as well

First off I want to state, this was my first Abby Jimenez book and I absolutely LOVED it! (I’m awful, I know)

Samantha and Xavier stole my heart from the first few chapters during their meet cute. This book has everything from a meet cute, forced proximity, angst, dual POV, witty banter, and very real family dynamics we see in everyday life. I could NOT put this book down. If you are ready to fall in love with the characters, laugh out loud, and possibly cry- stop what you’re doing and read this!

Rang in the New Year with this one and couldn’t think of a better choice!

Abby Jimenez does it again with another heart wrenching and real romance. I can’t think of another romance author who writes such tangible, deep characters. In this one, the reader truly feels the pain of the distance between the MCs, and how futile it feels to continue the relationship despite their being so in love.

ah, what a way to rip my heart out and also make me want more. This was a really delightful, romantic book, and it also centers grief and loss.
