There really is nothing like reading an Abby Jimenez book and this one was no different. I laughed, I cried and felt so many emotions for the characters (and animals) in this story.

Say You’ll Remember Me is the newest release in a brand new romance series by New York Times bestselling author Abby Jimenez.

We follow our two protagonist’s Samantha and Xavier who share one endless and unforgettable date, the only problem is Samantha is set to move across the country the next day.

When neither one are able to forget the other, or the magical night they spent together, Xavier and Samantha must decide how much they are truly willing to sacrifice for love.

There were so many aspects of this book that I enjoyed, from getting a glimpse into Samantha’s family life to all the adorable animals we met along the way.

The difficult topics that are explored in this story were handled with so much appreciation and care. This book has given me a brand new perspective on caregiving and the everyday struggles of past familial trauma. Samantha and Xavier’s relationship was so much more than just romantic, they are truly soulmates and the way in which their deep emotional connection is explored was so magical.

There were a couple things missing for me with this one, it felt a bit repetitive at times and I also wished we got to see more of romantic build up between our love interests in the beginning.

Overall though I would definitely recommend this one if you’ve enjoyed Abby’s other books and I’ll be patiently awaiting the next instalement in this series!

Abby has done it again. This book hit every emotion possible. As a caregiver to my fil with dementia, she described what it's like to care for someone you love who is sick. I sobbed reading this story. Samantha's love and dedication to her family was refreshing to read. Not because it's a fun story, but because it's real life. The hardships and the struggles Abby writes about are real. That's one of the most amazing things about her stories.

Xavier is legit the absolute best golden retriever boyfriend. I fell in love with him instantly. His parents story broke me, but how he used that trauma to be the best version of himself was admirable. He loved Samantha and their relationship is on everyone hopes for.

I know a lot of people are saying this book is too sad, but that's life at times. I loved it and can't wait to see where the next book in the series takes us.

Rating: 4.75/5

This book brought out so many emotions in me. As someone with a family member currently going through dementia, I was deeply moved by how heartbreakingly accurate the portrayal was—not just the experience of the person with the condition, but also the ripple effect it has on the people who love them. The author captured that pain and confusion in such a real, tender way.

And can we talk about the playlists Xavier made for her? Absolutely beautiful—such a soft, thoughtful touch that added even more heart to the story.

I highly recommend this book. The only reason it’s not a full 5 stars for me is that I wish the resolution had come a bit sooner. But still, this was a stunning, emotional read that stayed with me long after I finished the last page.

Thank you NetGalley for an e-arc copy of this book one day before release!

What can I say about Abby Jiminez latest book other than I loved it! I was laughing out loud at the banter between the FMC Samantha, the MMC Xavier and her lovable family. This was so much more than a romance book it took a deep dive into family dynamics and how we turn out as adults. Xavier has a broken relationship with his parents and because of that breaks his back to prove to them he has made it. Samantha grew up in a loving household, but her family is faced with very hard and very real decision that will impact their future. It is a beautifully written story that I could not put down.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the digital ARC!

I absolutely love Abby Jimenez and her romcoms that dive into heavy topics in such an authentic and heartfelt way, so I was overjoyed to get an ARC of her latest book! 📚 She has this magical ability to blend warmth, humor, and real-life challenges into stories that feel both entertaining and deeply emotional.

What did I love the most? 💔👵
Abby once again shines when it comes to exploring the emotional weight of caregiving—this time through the lens of someone caring for a loved one with dementia. She doesn't sugarcoat it. Caregiving is exhausting, isolating, and at times heartbreaking, and Abby captures that reality with grace and honesty. It felt deeply personal and respectfully portrayed, which I really appreciated.

What to expect:
📞 Long-distance relationship
👩‍⚕️ Honest caregiver representation
🐶 Vet MMC (yes, animal lovers—he’s a veterinarian!)
🐕‍🦺 Adorable animals that will steal your heart

How was the romance? 💌🤷‍♀️
This is probably my least favorite Abby Jimenez book so far—and that’s mostly because of the romance. While I loved the MMC (he’s got major black cat energy 🐈‍⬛—stoic and guarded, but soft for his person), I couldn’t really connect with the FMC. She felt underdeveloped, and oddly, I came away knowing more about her siblings than her own personality. The romance played out almost entirely long-distance, which made it feel emotionally thin. I wanted more chemistry, more shared moments, more spark.

Do I recommend this book? 🤔
This one was, unfortunately, a miss for me. While I’ll always admire Abby’s storytelling and the way she handles tough topics with heart, the romance just didn’t land. That said, if you’re drawn to deeper emotional themes and don’t mind a slower, more reflective story with sweet animals and a gentle MMC—you might still enjoy this one. 🐾💕

Abby Jimenez is a hugely popular Minnesota author who writes romantic comedies. Her new book, Say You'll Remember Me, just came out April 1.
Samantha meets Xavier when she brings in an adorable rescue kitten to see him (he's a veterinarian). It's a grumpy-meets-sunshine complete disaster, but an epic all-night first date gets them back on course. Then, to Xavier's surprise, the very next day, Samantha picks up and moves from Minnesota to California to deal with a family crisis. The rest of the book is about their long distance relationship, her family journey through caregiving, her mom's dementia and whether Xavier and Samantha can make it work when it seems like there might be no future for them.

This book is great if you like a rom-com that's borderline women's fiction—a lot about the relationship and their families and character development, not too steamy. I love that Abby Jimenez's books are set in MN and feature local places. The author has said that side characters in this book will also have their own love stories featured in upcoming books, and I love when authors do that. Put your name on the list now for this fun book because it will be very popular this spring!

I really enjoyed both Samantha and Xavier as individuals. They both had trauma that was explored throughout the story and I definitely appreciate the family experience of caregiving during illness. The heaviness of that situation seemed very realistic.

When it comes to the romance, it fell flat for me. I would have loved some deeper development in their characters and I could even get past the insta-love, but as the story progressed I was less interested in their connection. You guys also know I love a book with heavy topics if it’s written well, but I feel like there was trauma unnecessarily thrown in over and over in the second half just for the sake of making it feel more depressing.

As a huge fan of Abby’s books, PART OF YOUR WORLD and YOURS TRULY, it makes me sad that the writing in her last two releases felt completely different from those books. I did read the first half of this one on my kindle then swap over to the audio halfway through. The dual narration on audio is the way to go!

Be prepared to cry. Abby Jimenez never shies away from emotion in her novels, but this one is even more gut-wrenching than the rest. Featuring a gorgeous veterinarian and a kind-hearted woman returning home to take care of her family, Jimenez breaks your heart within the first 50 pages by separating our couple into a long distance relationship. Paired with a mom suffering from Alzheimer’s, a hilarious but flawed family, and a love strong enough to cross multiple state lines, Jimenez has outdone herself in this Taylor Swift inspired title, Say You’ll Remember Me. (Also features many cute animals, re: hot vet).

Abby does it again!! Another heart wrenching honest romance. I loved Xavier & Samantha from the very first page. Always so honored to read Abby’s books. Thank you for the arc!!

I'm sorry but no. No. No. No. to this entire book. I have laughed, sobbed, and cried at every single book Abby Jimenez has ever written... up until this one. I feel like I woke up in an alternate universe and read a book by someone named Jabby Bimenez. Close in some ways to the original works but a cheap mockery of the depth and love that went into them.

First off.. the SHEER AMOUNT of modern day tiktok slang, pop culture references, and brain rot humor did NOT land for me. I can guarantee there were so many references that ALREADY felt dated from when they first blew up online less than a year ago, and something about the constant usage of tiktok memes felt like it just cheapened the narrative/storytelling.

Second... this book was instalove to the max. In no world would I have been able to justify the sheer Hell Xavier and Samantha put themselves through (for more than a year) after ONE date and 8 hours of knowing a person. They were quite literally driving themselves into the ground and excess financial ruin for what...? Someone they had spent all of 4 days with? Like... pls make it make sense.

Lastly, this book just felt like trauma porn... how many damaging, effed up things can you put into a book in order to give the character the illusion of depth? Like, just one for each MC would have sufficed. NOT TO MENTION, every single character was shallow and insufferable (miss girl literally saw her boyfriend working 80 hour weeks and made ZERO effort to try to go to him in minnesota???)

The ONLY redeemable character in this entire book was Hank who appeared at the 80% mark, and was referenced 2 other times max.

I was so excited to receive an ARC of Abby Jimenez’s newest book and flew through it in two days! Abby’s writing never disappoints: I lost track of the amount of times I laughed out loud, but also found myself tearing up just as often. It’s such a heartfelt, genuine story - I loved it so much. I didn't love the number of times Xavier was compared to Rhysand from ACOTAR - the first time was funny but by the third time it felt like overkill. I wish we had seen more of Xavier's friend group because they seemed awesome! I loved Samantha's family and how the dynamic of caretaking changed their interpersonal relationships. Overall I thought it was a beautiful story - Abby can do no wrong!

With any Abby book I laughed out loud and even had some tears. I loved Xavier so much! He was truly the star of this show for me. The SUPERIOR golden retriever MMC and I don’t think he could do a darn thing wrong. His tragic past was heart wrenching and everything that Sam has to deal with is heartbreaking. Them being separated a lot and the push and pull of what they each had to deal with both past and present made this a lot of back and forth but it ended well!

Quick and cute read. She has a good way with words and characters. Co plenteous unrealistic lol but that’s what a rom com escape is. Worth the read

Absolutely LOVED Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez—this is without a doubt my favorite book of hers yet. The story had me hooked from the first page and took me on such an emotional ride. I laughed, I cried, and I didn’t want it to end.

The characters were incredible—so real, raw, and relatable. I fell hard for the Samantha and Xavier. Their chemistry was electric, and their individual struggles made their connection even more meaningful. Abby does such a great job showing the messy, beautiful parts of love and healing, and this book was no exception.

And I have to give a special shoutout to the Dodge Dart! It added so much charm and humor, and somehow became this quirky little symbol of resilience and hope.

If you're looking for a romance that will make you laugh, cry, and feel everything in between, this one is it. Abby Jimenez has truly outdone herself.

Abby is my favorite romance author. When SYRM was first announced in a 2024 interview, I was giddy over the gorgeous cover, T Swift title reference, & a new heartwarming romance to look forward to.

Once I got into it, I quickly realized it had a different feel. While there WERE heartwarming components, & of course, some jokes, SYRM is much more emotional than her backlist. I tend to prefer this (vs. a true romantic comedy), so I didn’t mind, but it is important to go in with awareness. The romance is toned down; the story focuses largely on the main character’s personal lives, & how those events & hardships affect their new/growing relationship. Both have experienced trauma, & I can see where these topics would be too emotional/potentially triggering for readers; however, I related deeply to a lot of it- namely, parts of Xavier’s childhood. There were moments that stopped me in my tracks- like I was reading about my own life. I felt connected to him specifically, & found comfort in that.

Speaking of Xavier, I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again- Abby has a special talent for writing male MCs. Xavier loved Samantha so well. He was my fave, but I enjoyed all of the characters (special note for sweet Hank!!!).

SYRM is definitely “insta-love” esque, & the entire nature of the relationship is less developed than Abby’s past works. I can see this turning people off; however, I DO see where it can be realistic. It was insta-love between me & my husband; we’d both admit that! I also related to the long distance relationship (how me & my husband started out).

Loved it! Relatable for me, & a fantastic start to a new series. Filled with excitement for spring 2026! 🩷

I always know going into Abby Jimenez’s novels that I’m in for a treat. She has a gift for creating stories that have me cackling in glee one moment at her characters and the absurd situations they find themselves in, but then crying my eyes out later because I see myself in these same characters and what they’re going through on a deeper level. This was exactly my experience with Say You’ll Remember Me.

About three pages into the book, I was already in love with Xavier. The sexy vet may be gruff, but his actions speak louder than his words and this guy is serious book boyfriend material.

A meet cute involving a kitten named Pooter with a life threatening birth defect introduces Xavier to Samantha, a passionate and stubborn woman, and this meeting will change both of their lives. One unforgettable date and they connect on such a level that they both feel they have met their person, their soulmate, but Samantha is moving thousands of miles away to help care for her mom who has early onset dementia, while Xavier has just opened up his practice and is too in debt to think about relocating.

While this book has many romcom worthy moments that had me chuckling to myself, it’s the more emotional moments that really made this book stand out to me. Watching Samantha & Xavier fight against all odds to try to be together was just so moving. They were both flawed and messy characters, but watching them struggle & grow together just felt so realistic. There was also an incredible supporting cast helping them, & I adored all of those characters as well.

I also really appreciated the sensitive way Jimenez wrote about Samantha & her family’s challenges trying to care for her mom. My father-in-law had dementia and reading what they were going through, I felt myself nodding along remembering what my husband and his family went through.

Say You’ll Remember Me is a fun read but it definitely packs an emotional punch!

"Say You'll Remember Me" is another great read from Abby Jimenez!! She has quickly become a must-read author for me, and has yet to disappoint.

Out of all of her books, I'd say this one dealt with much heavier issues than the rest.. I really appreciated her being sensitive to her readers and including a trigger warning at the beginning. This definitely dealt with several difficult topics, but the story was delivered with a lot of care and sensitivity by the author. While the romance aspect between main characters Sam and Xavier was always front and center, I thought Jimenez did a fantastic job of also weaving these topics into the story, giving the reader insight into how both characters coped and grew together through a lot of tough decisions. This book felt a lot more character-driven than romantic, and I enjoyed it!

I loved both main characters and found both of their perspectives to be interesting and easy to invest in. Jimenez has a gift in being able to bring her characters to life, and I was immediately hooked on this story from the very first page!! Sam and Xavier made an adorable couple and I was eager to keep reading as they navigated their own personal issues while growing closer as a couple and eventually having to deal with a long-distance relationship. Sigh.

Again, Jimenez's books have always been a must-read for me and this is one I had been eagerly waiting for. Thank you very much to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for the digital ARC of this book!

This book was really good but it was a lot heavier than I expected. My favorite part was how she captured the magical little chest sparkly tingly feeling when you meet someone and have an instant connection. Where it’s not just driven by lust but this whole body sensation of pleasure and excitement. I didn’t realize this book would be closed door which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but I thought spending more time leading up to those intimate scenes would add greater intimacy between the two characters. But circulating back to the heavy part, I don’t know if I would consider this a romcom. It dealt with a lot of heavy topics and spent a lot of time with these characters experiencing hardship. At times it was hard to watch what these characters were going through and how it effected them. Before they got into the trenches in the latter half of the book, I do remember laughing and smiling a lot though, so luckily it wasn’t heavy the whole time.

What a great book! Abby Jimenez was already becoming one of my favorite romance writers but this book was so much fun. I am so happy that she is starting a new series right when her career is taking off, this will be a perfect first book for fans who are new to her books.
