Two women band together in an attempt to discover what happened to their sisters who disappeared under similar circumstances two weeks apart 7 years ago. Someone out there knows what they are doing and doesn’t like it. I found this book a little slow in the beginning but then I was sucked in and couldn’t put it down. So many unlikeable characters all of whom seem guilty. The shocking ending is worth the read. Many thanks to Netgalley for the ARC.

Mind blowing.
Nicole “Nic” Monroe is in a rut. At twenty-four, she lives alone in a dinky apartment in her hometown of Mishawaka, Indiana, she’s just gotten a DWI, and she works the same dead-end job she’s been working since high school, a job she only has because her boss is a family friend and feels sorry for her. Everyone has felt sorry for her for the last seven years—since the day her older sister, Kasey, vanished without a trace. On the night Kasey went missing, her car was found over a hundred miles from home. The driver’s door was open and her purse was untouched in the seat next to it. The only real clue in her disappearance was Jules Connor, another young woman from the same area who disappeared in the same way, two weeks earlier. But with so little for the police to go on, both their cases eventually went cold. Nic wants nothing more than to move on—from her sister’s disappearance and the state it’s left her in. But then one day, Jules’s sister, Jenna Connor, walks into her life and offers Nic something she hasn’t felt in a long time: hope. What follows is a gripping tale of two sisters who will do anything to find their missing halves, even if it means destroying everything they’ve ever known.
I finished it in a single sitting.

"The Missing Half" was Ashley Flowers' sophomore novel, and while it didn't have the intensity of her first novel, it was still a solid read for me. Nic Monroe is in her early 20's, with a dead end job and a penchant for drinking too much. She was never able to recover after her older sister, Kasey, disappeared without a trace seven years prior. Kasey's abandoned car was found on a dark road one summer evening....but Kasey was never seen again.

Nic is trying her best to move on and forget the past, until the day that she meets Jenna. Jenna is the older sister of another young woman who vanished right before Kasey. Jules also disappeared without a trace, leaving Jenna to wonder what the fate of her sister was.

At first, Nic is resistant to Jenna intruding in her life, but Jenna eventually convinces Nic that the two of them should band together and search for answers about what happened to the young ladies. As they search, it becomes clear that the investigation was not as thorough as it needed to be. Secrets have been kept, and guilty people have been protected. Nic soon becomes fueled with a strong desire to figure out what happened during that long-ago summer.

Overall, this was a suspenseful read. While I found some parts to be predictable, I definitely did NOT see the end coming. Personally, I found the ending to be a little frustrating, and it didn't really wrap it up neatly for me. Quick and twisty, this is definitely a good book to immerse yourself in.

OH. MY. GOODNESS. Can I go back and read it again? This book was wonderfully written and I can’t wait to rave about it when it releases. Loved the character development, loved the twists, loved even more twists, and loved the ending. Another great masterpiece by Ashley Flowers!

Ok. So this was a very twisty mystery thriller! It gave me a few flashbacks to Listen for the lie and none of this is true. I think the plot was soooo well written and the tension made it fun to follow whilst also being able to figure out what happened to Ashley’s sister. This story does a great job of fully developing characters and there were a lot it felt like. It goes back to the town the podcast host grew up in and she uncovers all sorts of lies and secrets that ultimately lead her to the truth she was searching for. The only downside of this was ithat I could see some people getting confused and a bit lost in the multiple twists. However for a seasoned thriller reader I think this is a great read!

The Missing Half by Ashley Flowers is a riveting mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Flowers masterfully weaves a complex narrative filled with intriguing twists and well-developed characters. The pacing is impeccable, and just when you think you’ve figured it out, she throws in a surprise that changes everything. The themes of loss and the quest for truth resonate deeply, making it not just a page-turner, but a thought-provoking read. I couldn't put it down and was left breathless by the conclusion. Highly recommend for any mystery lover!

I am hooked and want to read more by this author right now! This book had me hooked from the description. I knew I would like the story line but I was NOT expecting to like it as much as I did. This book hooked me in from the start and had me hooked until the very last page. I would have even loved to have a little bit more. I can't wait to read more by this author. I felt like the pacing of the book felt like a real investigation, when you are finding out so much stuff and then there is a break in anything happening and then it picks back up. This book had my jaw on the floor by the time I finished. I was not expecting that ending AT ALL. I was way off base with my guess.

The imagery was the strongest element of this book. My only real issue with it is that it didn't feel realistic really whatsoever.

This will be a perfect 2025 summer read- propulsive, fast-paced, with lots of twists. Absolutely loved the story and couldn't put it down!

I enjoyed Ashley Flowers previous book so was excited to read this one. It kept me turning the pages and I did not guess the twist ending; however, I think the set up required some suspended disbelief on part of the reader. It seemed strange to me that many of the discoveries the two women found in their investigation were not previously known to them and/or the police. The ending also seemed a little farfetched that it would be possible not to be discovered. All in all, a fun "popcorn thriller".

No such thing as a boring moment in an Ashley Flowers book! I loved All Good People Here and this one managed to top book #1 for me. I loved seeing this dark story unfold alongside our FMC Nic: the pile of suspicious characters we got to meet, secrets that don't stay buried, and a true wtf ending that shocked me but also had me cheering. Loved it!

I had to sleep on this review because I had SO MANY emotions. The story sucked me in from the beginning and I was obsessed, I wanted to skip date night to finish it, but I didn’t😂. I think having a break at 60% let me think about it a bit and I unfortunately predicted most of the ending.

The storyline itself is so interesting, what would you do if your person went missing? But as secrets start to come out to light, the life (and people) you thought you knew just might not be what it seems.

This book stated off great. Lots of character build up. As the story went on, I felt like the 2 main characters started to become redundant. We never followed up on Nic's legal troubles and it felt like that story line was a dead end. The twist at the end seems like it came out of nowhere. Nic said she wanted to finish something for the first time, but she never actually finished something.

Loved this one! The Missing Half kept me turning page after page until the very end! Huge twist towards the end that I definitely did not see coming. Ashley Flowers never disappoints and her latest is definitely worth reading!

Thank you to net galley for the arc in exchange of an honest review.

The Missing Half by Ashley Flowers ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I would rate this book more than 5 stars if I could. I am still reeling from the ending of this book. TOTALLY UNEXPECTED.

Nicole’s sister Kasey has gone missing and there are absolutely no leads. While working at her dead end job, she’s approved by Jules. Jules sister has gone missing under similar circumstances and she wants to work together to find their missing sisters.

A gripping novel of sisterhood.

The Missing Half is a story of two women who team up to search for their "missing halves"- the sisters who disappeared within two weeks of each other years ago. Nic Monroe is struggling badly- she's on probation for a DWI and works a dead-end job in her hometown. She's never recovered from her sister Kasey's disappearance. When a stranger approaches her after work one day her first instinct is to tell the woman to go away. But when the woman, Jenna, tells Nic that she is looking into her own sister's disappearance, Nic decides to her her out. They agree to investigate together to find out what the police may have missed. Nic feels hope for the first time in years. But all is not as it seems. The story takes a left turn toward the end which I didn't see coming. Overall a solid book but neither character really stood out to me as very intriguing. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for honest feedback.

After reading Flowers’ debut book I could see the making of a good storyteller but in THIS book she proves she has it. The book is gripping from the first sentence and it never lets you go. The chapters read quickly but intriguing so it’s really hard to find a place to put it down. There’s also not a lot of extra background to the story.
I find a lot of thrillers try to bog down the storyline by throwing in plot points that end up not mattering to the story but in this book the focus is on the search for the missing sisters.

The ending is wild. I think I told my husband I had figured out this book at least 3 different times and that was a lot because the ending of this book was not something I foresaw. It does end kind of abruptly; I think an epilogue would have been nice, but then again maybe the ending wouldn’t have had the same impact.

Either way, this is a solid 4.5 stars and I’m already restless for book 3!

Ashley Flowers does it again. A cold case presented and relationships explored.

I stayed up too late reading this mystery, because there was no way I was going to bed with 50 pages left. I couldn’t put it down until every last twist and turn had been revealed. Nic as a character was such an interesting read. You could really feel how stuck she was without her sister, in a dead end job, with no other familial relationships to lean on.

Kept me on the edge of my seat as any Nancy Drew-esque novel should.
