If you ever watched the Tinkerbell movies and thought "boy, the queen of Pixie Hollow and the guardian of the Winter Woods have a lot of chemistry," this is the book for you. The story follows Clarion, a fairy who's being primed to take over as the queen, as she comes into her own and tries to protect the other fairies from a dark magic called the "nightmares". Her curiosity leads her to the Winter realm, which is isolated from the Spring, Summer, and Fall realms in Pixie Hollow. That's where she meets the handsome and kind warden of the Winter Woods, Milori. They have a slow burn, sort of forbidden romance that is really lovely to see unfold. I also really liked the side characters, like Artemis and Petra, who had their own situation going on.

I could certainly read more novels that take place in the world of Pixie Hollow - I hope they're planning on releasing more!

Lord Milori and Queen Clarion?! Yes please!!

Take me back to my childhood with this exquisite trip back to Pixie Hollow. While it is heartbreaking, it is so well written! I could not put it down. You get a Pixie Hollow experience like never before. Adore this book!! Seriously if you were a Tinkerbell girlie this book was made for you. But bring tissues.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for a chance to read and review,

Congratulations are in order for Ms. Saft for publishing her fifth book! That’s an incredible accomplishment, especially considering how successful all her books have been.

Wings of Starlight takes readers back to Pixie Hollow, set a few years before the famous Tinker Bell makes her appearance. In this prequel, we get a closer look at Queen Clarion before her coronation and finally understand why, despite all four seasons coexisting, the fairies cannot cross from one realm to another.

While this would make a fantastic introduction to the world of Pixie Hollow for new fans—especially those unfamiliar with the Tinker Bell movies or books—for readers who already know Queen Clarion and Milori’s story, it might not be as satisfying. At least, it wasn’t for me.

I truly enjoyed the writing style; it was beautiful and immersive. However, I felt that the story had too much going on while simultaneously lacking something essential. For me, that missing piece was the romantic development between Clarion and Milori. As a reader, I never really felt the moment when they fell in love—it just seemed to happen without much buildup.

My biggest disappointment, though, was the way the plot handled the accident and its consequences. Given the implications from the movies, I expected something different, something with more depth and emotional weight. Instead, it felt rushed, and the emotional impact didn’t quite land the way I had hoped.

That being said, Wings of Starlight still has plenty to offer. It expands on Pixie Hollow’s lore in an intriguing way and delivers a fresh perspective on Queen Clarion’s past. While it didn’t fully meet my expectations, I can see it being an enjoyable read for those who want to explore this world from a new angle.

A fun edition to the Pixie series. I adored this and felt like I was back in time snuggled up in bed reading this to my daughter 15 years ago. It brought me right back. It was also well done and true to who Queen Clarion becomes. I did like seeing her more youthful path and how she made mistakes along the way but she had to make sacrifices for her throne and all of Pixie Hollow. I definitely recommend this for any Disney fan.

Thank you to NetGalley, Disney Press, and Ms. Saft for the opportunity to read an ARC of Wings of Starlight. An honest review was requested but not required.

Don't hate me but I've never seen any of the Pixie Hollow movies/shows/whatever. I've never seen Secret of the Wings, I'm not a Tinkerbell stan, I didn't grow up on this. I had absolutely no context for Clarion prior to this book. For some reason I thought this was an adult fiction book, although it's definitely young adult and I'd go so far as to say would be middle-grade appropriate, reading-level wise.

I really liked Clarion's emotional growth process of learning to stand up for herself and do what she knew was right and (don't hate me) but I thought that that part, and the her friendships with Artemis and Petra, were even better developed and complex than the relationship with Milori. I'm not really sure where or when the feelings moved past attraction on either of their parts. The portions in which Milori takes Clarion to experience Winter were my favorite. Ms. Saft really has a knack for making each season shine and spotlighting everything appealing about each season.

I'm still really unsure why Elvina spent so much EXHAUSTIVE time teaching Clarion everything about governance but chose to keep the Nightmares a secret. Did she think Clarion would be better able to handle them if she... knew nothing about them at all? Likewise, I really didn't understand Clarion's decision at the end. It seemed to go against everything she had learned and realized and grown into in the rest of the story. However, I assume - and a quick Google search has mostly confirmed - that Ms. Saft was constrained by the parameters of the plot already in place, which is unfortunate.

I can see this book is *eagerly* awaited by Pixie Hollow fans and I think it will mean a lot to them. It is beautifully written, I will say. I didn't love the ending but that's the plot of the overall Pixie Hollowverse, not the author's choice. I'm willing to bet that Pixie Hollow/Tinkerbell fans will eat this up.

THIS BOOK. I am forever broken 💔

Never in a million years would I have thought that I’d be getting this book but here we are. This was everything I needed and more!

YEARNING, YEARNING, YEARNING. I am undone. Allison Saft absolutely delivered on everything I wanted from this book. The forbidden romance and secret sunset meetings and angst!! I was SCREAMING and crying. Everything was just so vivid and it truly felt like another movie! I am going to need this entire book portrayed word for word, scene for scene on my TV right now.

I immediately had to watch Secret of the Wings IMMEDIATELY after finishing Wings of Starlight to console myself. TEARS! There were definitely tears! The mere CRUMBS in that movie are never enough but my god this book was so full and wonderful and everything I’ve dreamed of for years.

Even if you weren’t a Pixie Hollow girlie growing up, I think it’ll be so easy to fall into this world. Allison Saft brought the world alive on every page and it was just so magical.

Nothing like a tragic, forbidden romance to send me into a fit of giddy feet-kicking one moment and have me crying into my pillow the next. Anyone familiar with the Pixie Hollow lore knows exactly where this book is going and Allison Saft still manages to make each pivotal moment - from the first meeting to each beat of the love story - feel exciting, fresh, and new. The gorgeous prose made the sickly yearning feel all the more wonderful and gooey in my lovesick little heart. Saft's original characters and their storylines were also a fabulous and very welcome addition that fit into the existing Pixie Hollow world so beautifully and naturally. Everything about this book was just pure perfection.

A Pixie Hollow story starring Queen Clarion! Warm-seasoned fairies rarely, if ever, cross in the Winter Woods, but Clarion is intrigued by its stoic beauty. However, she is very busy being royal (or so her ministers, etc. tell her) and she has no time to sit and daydream. But suddenly there are reports of a monster crossing over from Winter into Spring and heading straight for the palace. Clarion sees that meeting this threat head-on will give her new role as queen a much needed confidence boost. But she only discovers Milori, a young guardian of the Winter Woods, not the monster she was searching for. Together, they form a bond and work together to save their lands.

I do not have enough words to express how much I love love love this book. I wasn’t expecting to love Queen Clarion even more and honestly as a fan of the Tinker Bell movies hadn’t realized that I wanted to know her backstory. This book made me sob in the best ways between the tragic love story and the healing of my inner child coming back into the world of Pixie Hollow as an adult. I cannot wait for it to come out so I can recommend it every day at work!

I am a big fan of Disney & I always enjoy delving deeper into the characters through books.
Having said that it was awfully bittersweet exploring the early relationship between Clarion & Milori. If you have seen the Tinkerbelle movies, you know there is only one way it can end. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed this story! The world was well built & the characters from the movies accurate but earlier in their evolution. Any new characters were well rounded & I love the representation.
I hadn't read anything by Allison Saft before but I will be going back & reading her older stuff now! She perfectly balances lore for fans & newcomers of Disney Fairies. She also describes the world of Pixie Hollow so beautifully, I felt really immersed.

I do wish that there was an epilogue that fleshed out a HEA post Secret of the Wings.

Thank you SO MUCH to Disney Publishing Worldwide and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this title!!

I had a lot of faith, trust, and pixie dust in Allison Saft to handle the Queendom of Pixie Hollow with care, but this exceeded all of my expectations. Saft’s writing style is luscious as ever, perfectly befitting of the IP, with each lush description bursting at the seams with magic. Admittedly, it’s been a minute since I delved into the world of the Disney Fairies, but the lore was explained in enough detail for entry level fans while still staying true to each facet of the original media. This prequel follows Pixie Hollow’s Queen-to-be, Clarion, as her battle against a grave threat to her people leads her to the mysterious—and forbidden—Warden of the Winter Woods. Perfectly paced and tantalisingly tense, their romance was really the book’s crowning glory. However, my favourite part may have been the side characters. Each fairy or sparrowman we met, no matter how minor, was imbued with so much life that I felt myself almost wishing we could spend more time with them; especially Petra and Artemis, Clarion’s best friend and guard respectively. At the risk of spoilers, watching their relationship develop behind the scenes was an utter delight. As a whole, this book was just the whimsical journey I needed to be swept away on during an otherwise bleak month. If anyone needs me, I’ll be looking for the second star to the right.

Readers who love the pixie hollow lore and fairies will most likely like this book. It has all the same settings and bubbly characters as the movies and books do.

What a beautiful book to give Queen Clarion her first back story. This book really fleshes out a piece of Pixie Hallow lore. We are all introduced to Milori in the Secret of the Wings movie, and we know that something tragic happened to his wings. We also see Clarion looking at Milori like there is something more going on between them. This story does a beautiful job of fleshing out their relationship, what happened and leaves the readers respecting Clarion even more. This is a perfect addition to Pixie Hallow and I am so excited that other readers will soon be able to experience it.

Secret of the Wings is the movie prequel story. First, seeing the movie, I've been itching to know more about the Queen Clarion and Lord Milori love story. She is the queen-in-training of Pixie Hollow, and he is the Master of Winter (not Lord; more on that later). The Nightmare Beast (easter egg to Tinker Bell and the Neverbeast?) is terrorizing Winter, and he asks for her help. Their two sides have given each other the cold shoulder for the longest time, but Clarion is intrigued of why. As she gets to know Winter and Milori, Winter, like her heart, grows warmer.

The longing and that ending have me misty-eyed. I'm bummed that in order to get the HEA, you need to watch the movie. I wish Allison would add an epilogue of them getting back together.

I know going into this that Milori is going to break his wing, but the fact that he did, while saving her, and he could have left but he stayed to make sure she is fine. The little angsty heart in me could not take it any longer.

Please read it!

This was devastating and I loved it. Really interesting insight into Clarion's character, and Saft explores her insecurities and desires well. The romantic relationship is so beautiful and heartwrenching - I loved seeing them find and reach for each other throughout their struggles, and their separation is beautifull written. The plot pacing gets a little muddled toward the climax, but there's a lot going on. I loved being back in Pixie Hollow!

Clarion is queen in training for Pixie Hollow. But she worries that she won’t be a good queen. She often looks longingly at the Winter Woods, home of the winter fairies. Crossing over into the Winter Woods is strictly forbidden by Queen Elvina. When a monster from winter crosses into Spring, nightmares start plaguing the kingdom. Determined to save her people, Clarion secretly travels to the Winter Woods. There, she meets Milori, Warden of the Woods. She soon learns the world is nothing like the queen has told her. Together, the two work together to uncover the secrets of Pixie Hollow. Along the way, the two face many challenges, conflicts, and consequences. Can they save Pixie Hollow?

The plot is engaging, well developed, and enchanting. The characters are strong protagonists that are authentic to the world of Pixie Hollow. The world building is well drawn and true to the original Tinkerbell movie. Readers who like fantasy, fairies, mystery, and adventure will want to pick this one up. Recommended for most library collections. 4 stars, Gr 7 and up.

As a Disney Fairies fan since the original Gail Carson Levine illustrated book, I was so thrilled to add Wings of Starlight to the official canon, and Allison Saft does not disappoint. Clarion's coming-of-self story blends seamlessly with her romance plot. The side characters are all believable and well developed and the suspense is just right. Will highly recommend for all Disney Fairies fans, past, present, and future.

So, this is my first ever ARC book and ARC review, and I am so happy that it was this book.

I loved this book I was able to read it within three days of starting it because of the fast pacing and how the story kept my interest. At about the page 200 mark, my family and I ended up watching the 2008 Disney film Tinker Bell.

Overall without spoiling anything: I loved it. I love YA books because of how they are paced, and this book hit the mark. I grew up reading the Gail Carson Levine fairy books, so reading this gave me that feeling of wonder I had while sitting in the back of my elementary school library. It really brought me back to why I began reading fantasy in the first place.

Thank you, NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC!

I never thought I’d see the day where I get to finally read about clarion and milori. And boy what a ride it was. I’m still trying to process everything I read because I don’t think I’ve ever cried THIS much in my life. Queen Clarion is one of the most kindhearted and amazing characters I have ever read about. She just makes you sad and the entire time throughout the book all I wanted to do was give her a hug and tell her “I’ll be ur friend”. She deserves everything that is good.
AND UGH when her and Milori met I just didn’t even know how to contain myself knowing their ending is tragic. Allison şaft did a beautiful job bringing their story together and I truly think no one would have written her story better than her.

Infinity stars.
