I don't think my original review saved so I'm rewriting it now.
This book was so good. At the time of reading this book, I hadn't picked up many single dad romances but I still think about this book. I don't mind age gap romances when they're written right and this book was a great example of this. I liked the bond that Lana and Alex formed as well as the one Lana did with Alex's child. This wasn't a completely lust-filled book which I highly appreciated and I wasn't sure if I would like Lana's character after book 2 but I did and I would reread this book again.

I love series like these with interconnected characters and really enjoyed the fast pace of the romances. Definitely a good quick read!

Sorry, I could not cope with this writing at all. It's a shame because there are elements to this series I really like but I can't get passed the writing style

Lace nails the banter and chemistry between the characters, making the slow burn feel all the more satisfying. The storyline is engaging, with just the right amount of twists to keep things interesting, though a few moments felt a bit predictable. Still, it’s a lovely, feel-good read that scores big with anyone who enjoys a cheeky romance with heart and humour!

This is a good book. The two main characters are Lana and Alex. They are both football players. They meet in a bar, they have a one night stand. The next day they meet at the stadium. There is an attraction. They start dating. They each have issues but together they work them out and fall in love.

This is a really lovely story of finding your way through grief, of trying to manage all the stages without losing yourself and those most important people in your life. Of making the most of things despite the pain and forging on to find happiness….something that is quite often in the most unlikely of places!
Alex is just the person for Lana, he’s steadfast and reliable, he’s honest and her safe place to land….while she brings joy and light into his and Brodies life. She’s impulsive and confident and just the spark that he needs.
Yes there’s a bit of a wobble towards the end but the author manages it just right!

4 stars for the best one yet!!

“Wild child” soccer star Lana Sinclair (who is anything but) accidentally finds love with single dad, new to Calverdale men’s, and former teammate of her father (yikes) Alex “Big Mac” MacAllister. In a well-written and fast-paced book, it’s surprising how complete and beautifully this story of grief, coping, and finding it in your heart to be able to love truly is!!

In case anyone’s wondering, my first favorite pirate is Stede Bonnet but my second-favorite pirate is Mary Read!

Thanks so much to Sasha Lace and NetGalley for a chance to read this in exchange for an honest review!

4⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

✨ Age Gap
✨ Single Dad
✨ Women’s Football
✨ Scottish
✨ Series but can be read on its own.
✨ Level :🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

✨ Definitely a different from the other 2 books. Apart from the guy is a footballer too and Scottish .
I did not felt the chemistry of these two.
The guy is a single dad and Lana is a ‘captain’ of the team while the original captain is in L.A.
Lana felt like she is just using her then she gone missing at the end which is quite confusing .
Definitely a miss on this one.
But it’s great to read some of the chapters connected on the first 2 books.

Thankyou for the opportunity to read this arc for a honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced copy of Playing For Keeps. This book dealt with several themes: family, empathy, forgiveness, fresh starts, humor, grief, and redemption make this book a standout. If you love these themes, then add this to your TBR.
The spicy scenes in this book are not just entertaining—they play a crucial role in deepening the story and characters. But as always with Sasha Lace, there’s so much more beneath the surface. A poignant quote from Alex, the MMC, really captures the heart of this book: “You never know when you walk around in this world, who is doing everything they can, just to hold things together…” His emotional maturity and the message of walking in someone else’s shoes before judging them are central to the story, and Sasha Lace handles this theme with sensitivity and grace. Behind the brave faces of the characters lies a painful, complex reality that is deeply moving.
Family—whether biological or chosen—remains a powerful theme in Sasha’s books, and it shines here as well. The sibling relationships, particularly Alex’s and Lana’s bonds with their sisters, play a significant role in shaping who they are. I love how relatable her characters are, displaying both the good and bad traits of everyday people. This is my first book by Sasha Lace, I look forward to reading the other stories in this series.

This book had me sobbing and laughing at the same time. I felt so bad for Lana and everything that she was going through and been through in her life - she has had a tough life and when she starts to have things go right for her the press comes for her and her family. She meets Alex and tries to deny her feelings for him and hides away parts of herself to protect herself, however by the end she has overcome this and asks for help if she needs it.

This book was a very enjoyable read. I read it in a few sittings and was hooked after just a short time reading. The story was well paced and the characters were well developed.

⚽ Book Review⚽

Okay Sasha- just take my heart and give it a good squeeze, why don't you? The FMCs family situation in this book was heart wrenching and hard to read. Addiction is a terrible disease and impacts the whole family. The support the MMC gives to the FMC as she comes to terms with everything is just wonderful to read. This MMC is everything! The way he finally gets the FMC to show her real self is just gorgeous. Another great sports romance where both the FMC and MMC play professional sports. Again, Sasha did a fabulous job with the spice.

Big thanks to Netgalley, Montlake and Sasha Lane for an early release copy of this book. This is my honest review.

Lana

The press say I’m the wild child of women’s football, and now a tabloid journalist’s blackmailing me. No wonder I needed distraction in the shape of Alex, the men’s team’s new Scottish goalie.

It was a one-night stand: fun and done. I don’t do commitment – and he’s old enough to be my dad. But there’s something different about Alex…

Alex

Lana is like a tornado. Fierce. Devastating. Just passing through. My son, Brodie, is my world, and he needs someone who’s sticking around.

But Lana’s made me feel alive again for the first time in years, and I can’t get her out of my head. Is a future with this party girl too much to hope for…?

Playing for Keeps is the third book in the Playing the Field series—addictive romances full of heart and steam, perfect for fans of T L Swan.

Loved it. Will recommend to others.

Recently sports romance has become my favourite and this was such a easy breezy quick read with brilliant character. Both the protagonists were mesmerizing and amazing in their own way and I had a great time reading this one. This is the third installment in the series and it was as impressive as the previous parts of this series.
