I tripped and fell and consumed this book as voraciously as if I myself was suddenly and inexplicably becoming a werewolf a la Devin Ashwood, the chiseled dream boat main character. Consider this book a raw steak on a counter or the hot female lead and *me* the beast unable to stop going at it. I could not stop.

Devin is a former star of a paranormal show with a cult following who somehow finds himself losing both his career and his humanity when he shifts into a wolf following a once-ever-150-years cosmic event. First of all, I love Alex; she's the grumpy Jewish tattooed black cat girl of my dreams. And second of all, I love the wound of para-social relationships and misunderstanding being a central point here. Like everything Rosie Danan writes, it is hot and charming, and I want to give a particular shout out to the moment where Alex mentions only liking video games for the fussy bisexual vampire. This. Book. Is. For the Astarion girlies, and I love that more than I can really put into words. But really it's also for all of us who have followed a paranormal tv show and experienced the exquisite joy of learning way too much about it and reading or writing fanfic.

Thank you so much to Rosie Danan, Berkley, and NetGalley, for this absolute GEM of an eARC in exchange for my honest review.

I’m a big Rosie Danna fan, and while this book was a departure from her last books, it had a lot of her normal stuff that I really enjoyed. While the supernatural aspect took a bit for me to get used to, I really loved the relationship, and I loved the power of fandom that Rosie showed with Alex and her friends. I liked how they opened up to each other and felt like real people, werewolf aside.

Fan Service explores fandom, the safety it can offer, and the walls you can build around yourself with it.

Rosie Danan introduces us to a teen obsessed with a supernatural TV show featuring a werewolf cop. She invests, connects, and becomes part of the online fandom. Then she meets her obsession, and cold water is poured all over her.

Jump ahead several years, and the show is canceled, the teen is grown, and the actor may be turning into a real werewolf.

Yes, it's not a super realistic plot but some very real lessons come from reading it.

Is Alex really a town outcast or is she sheltering herself from life to avoid getting hurt?? Is Devin a vapid actor or just stuck trying to fill someone else's goals for him?

Will Rosie Danan make you giggle and blush while reading? The answer is always yes.

Read it and then take a look at the stories about yourself that you tell-- how much of it is real? How much of you are you hiding?

That was beautiful and sweet and, surprisingly, deep.

I received this as an advanced reader copy and I will probably re-read it whenever the audiobook comes out because I loved it so, so, so much.

Devin is a bit of a self-focused guy who was pushed into Hollywood as a child and never found a way to having a life outside of it. In a weird twist of fate, his real life is about to mirror his character's life when he experiences some weird changes. He ends up finding the moderator of his fan wiki page who happens to be someone who had a crush on him when she was a kid. They are now 34 (her) and 42 (him) when they meet again as adults when he works to convince her to help him out.

This is a contemporary rom-com with a slight dash of the paranormal that helps the two characters work through their issues and come together in such a beautiful way. The way this man is ravenous for her and how he schemes to woo her? 🥰

I cannot even begin to tell you how beautifully written this book is as it shows them peeling back their emotional layers and learning to trust each other. There was definitely some real tears being shed in the later part of this book.

Basically, I highly recommend and I loved it so much.

Safety deets
- On page spice. He's great at making sure she 💦 first.
- Beautiful consent. They discuss what each is comfortable and have a really good conversation that continues in a sexy and comforting way in all their physical intimacy.
- He's been married and divorced. There are some signs that he has slept around, but we don't hear about any details.
- She's slept with various folks and we do meet one of her ex-lovers. Other than Devin getting VERY jealous/possessive, there's no drama there.
- They are unequivocally together at the end. No wedding or long-term epilogue, but I still thought the peek we got several months into the future was super cute.
- Birth control discussed and condoms used.

I absolutely adore Rosie Danan. Her books bring me such joy and her characters sit with me long after I complete a book.
For some reason Fan Service just isn’t giving me my usual feelings when it comes to Rosie’s writing.
I had issues connecting with and caring for the main characters which in turn made it hard for me to love the story or the romance.
I know this was one of her first dips into true fantasy but I think it was a solid mix of fantasy and not for any of those who typically only read romance, I however would have liked it to have MORE fantasy elements. I don’t believe I’m a fan of like fantasy themes in a real world setting - but that’s a personal preference of course.

Overall I’m not disappointed that I read this, and like I said I LOVE Rosie, this just wasn’t my favorite installment from her.

This book is a delightful F1 romance that effectively balances good romance and a strong understanding of the sport. The author's research shines through in their descriptions of the tracks and driver rivalries, making it a must-read for F1 fans. The story is light and fun, with a refreshing enemies-to-lovers trope that fits the book perfectly. While some may find the character descriptions lacking, the book is an adorable and enjoyable read. I highly recommend it, especially for those who enjoy a good romance with a unique twist.

As a huge fan of werewolf paranormal romances and TV shows like 'Teen Wolf', 'Supernatural', and 'The Vampire Diaries', I knew I was going to enjoy this book, but WOW—it completely exceeded my expectations! From the first page to the last, I was hooked. This story isn’t just a love letter to supernatural lore; it’s also a brilliant homage to fandom culture that made me feel so seen.

The characters, the plot, the tension—everything was perfection. Alex Lawson is such a relatable protagonist, especially for anyone who’s ever been obsessed with a show or series as a teen. Her love for her fan forum and her dedication to cataloging all things Arcane felt so nostalgic and authentic. Devin Ashwood, on the other hand, is the kind of flawed, unexpectedly lovable hero I didn’t realize I needed. His redemption arc was incredibly satisfying, and seeing his confident exterior crack to reveal his insecurities gave the story so much depth.

Speaking of arcs—fated mates trope? YES, PLEASE! The chemistry between Alex and Devin was electric, their banter was hilarious, and the slow unraveling of their walls was just chef’s kiss. The mix of tension, comedy, and angst was absolutely irresistible.

Devin’s POV was a standout for me—watching his journey from a seemingly egotistical actor to someone vulnerable and genuine was incredibly rewarding. And Alex’s struggle to connect with people, born from her fandom-centric life, was so well-written. Their different life experiences mirroring each other’s issues felt so real and meaningful.

If you’re part of the fandom world or just love a gripping paranormal romance, this book is a must-read. Between the werewolf lore, the redemption arcs, and the swoon-worthy romance, I’m officially OBSESSED. Can’t wait to recommend this to everyone I know!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I was not sure what to expect with this book, but I have enjoyed Rosie Danan’s books in the past, and I was so surprised by this book! It’s fantastical and corny and silly in all the best ways, reminiscent of the teen wolf days, of which I was part of!!

Alex Lawson, longtime fangirl finds herself in an… unthinkable position when her favorite past TV start shows up in her small down, having a sort of unrealistic breakdown. All she has to do is help him through his “werewolf” problems.

I found the story to be ridiculous but attention grabbing, and the characters were silly and made a perfect romcom banter. I was happily surprised how quickly I found myself invested.

The pacing did feel slow at times, but overall this was a fun read!

This book was a fun & easy read that I flew through in one sitting! In typical Rosie fashion, it had cutesy moments, funny banter, and fantastic spice. I loved the premise of this book and where it was headed but I definitely didn't love how the mmc treated Alex throughout the book. This is a grown man who definitely had the maturity level of a high schooler and I wished he would have grown up a little more by the end of the book.

Other than that, I loved this book and its premise, just as much as every other Rosie book out there!

Thank you NetGalley for the eARC!

3.5/5 🌟

thank you to netgalley & berkley for the opportunity to read this arc <3

as someone that grew up watching teen wolf i was so excited for this one and the way people were comparing it to the show! unfortunately i didn’t feel entirely invested in the story until about 45%-50% mark. after getting to that percentage i couldn’t put it down!! you have an actor that is trying so hard to not let his main role be abandoned & a girl who was once his biggest fan and honestly this was so fun! i loved the way they interacted with each other and the appearances made by the side characters (loveddddd alex’s dad!)
the last 10% had me aw-ing and smiling at my kindle like a crazy person.

devin did have his moments where he pissed me off and i wish alex stood her ground more but the one thing i loved about this so much was the fact that we got reasons for everything and nothing was left unmentioned! it was a nice change to not have any plot holes. on the other hand, devin and alex were both very funny characters and had me giggling at the jokes they were making.

if you miss teen wolf and the way it made you feel with the humor & romance, definitely pick this one up!!
(devin is the perfect mix of scott, stiles, isaac & peter *not the evil in peter but definitely the cockiness and humor)

thank you again to netgalley + berkley for this arc!

Thanks to NetGalley & Berkley for the early copy in exchange for an honest review. Sadly, I DNF'ed at 40% of the way through.

The main issue with this book for me was the basis of their relationship. She knew him when she was 14 years old, met him when she was 17, and they reunite like 20 years later. However, I feel that the imbalance on his end makes it uncomfortable. She knows *everything* about him and his life since she was a tween. He doesn't know anything about her.

It also doesn't help that I've never liked the fanfiction where it involves real celebrities instead of the characters they play as. And basically this is about turning a real celebrity into the real character he plays as. Which is a bit uncomfortable to me.

Devin and Alex weren't really nice people so it was hard to root for their relationship at all. Alex especially still badmouthing Devin 20 years later virtually also left a sour taste. It was weird how immature both of them acted, they acted like they were 20 year olds but they were in their late 30s/40s.

The fandom commentary was funny, at least.

This was such a fun read! A nice nod to fanfictikn and the idea of “don’t meet your heroes” and a very sweet romance at its core.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐.5/5

I really enjoy Rosie Danan's books and this is no different. I think she is amazing at telling an entertaining, fun, and usually fast-paced story.

This is a love story to fandoms and how it can be life-changing and help bring some of the best friendships in life. As Danan lovingly writes, “Fandom was everything when you were in it and embarrassing as hell when you weren’t.” I did love how this story made being part of a fandom about being passionate about a topic and not necessarily an obsession, but it can become one. There is always something that connects deeply to you about the show/group/movie/book that leads to your fandom. The friendships you develop can last you a lifetime and transcend the fandom.

Alex and Devin were an interesting pairing. I do not love big age gap couples and it did sometimes take me out of the story when Alex would say things like 'he was signing autographs before I was even born' and I would have to take a step back. It does make it better that she is in her thirties, but I feel like the story could still be powerful without him being in his forties. There are 'washed-up' celebrities in their late thirties, so it could have worked without such a big age gap, but in the grand scheme of things, it was not a major plot point.

The story was going for a more 'grumpy x grumpy' troupe, but Devin was a jerk several times throughout the story and I did not want to forgive him as easily as Alex did. There were reasons why he was a jerk, but I felt like it would have been better character growth for him to have thought of his snarky comments and realized before he spoke the words that they would be hurtful and choose differently.

I felt like the story was very fast-paced in the beginning and slowly started to lull, so it took me a little longer to get through the whole story, but ultimately I did enjoy the story. If I could have a wishlist of items in the story: I wished we could have met her fandom friends more, expanded on the side characters, and seen them further out in the future in the epilogue. I am excited and can't wait for Danan's next novel!

Such an adorable story. The characters are fun and loveable, the dialogue is laugh out loud funny, and it has the right amount of well written spicy scenes. I read it in a single day! So much fun.

I was really excited to read this book based on the authors previous work. Loved the representation. Fun fandom werewolf read.

Thank you to Berkley and NetGalley for providing and ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a love story to fandom. I loved how messy and raw this was. I also really liked how this was a werewolf story without being ABO (fanfic fans know what I’m talking about.) I loved all the looks at Alex’s online community, but actually wish we had “seen” a little more of her friends. I also had a hard time with Alex and Devin’s ages, they just seemed so immature for their ages. I truly related so much to Alex’s nerdy fandom obsession though, and found myself saving several lines to go back to reread later.

This book was so much fun. Automatically became a favorite among a group of friends that also have NetGalley. I read this in one sitting. I loved both main characters. It was lovely to watch both of them grow, while remaining flawed, and making realistic decisions in a fantastical situation. Now I wanna go back and watch my favorite high school teen werewolf show! Highly recommend and would absolutely reread!

This was such a find and interesting take on a paranormal romance. I had such a good time getting to know Devon Ashwood and Alex and their long history. This story started in such a fun note by jumping to their past and really setting the scene on where we start with these two characters. Alex is such a hurt children that grew into herself and who she is, but still remains so closed off to the world. To Devon who had success he’s been chasing since the show ended all those years ago. When it becomes his reality and needs help from the one person who may believe him. Their first I retraction again after all those years already started off with the best tension. I love their back and forth. With a bit of an age gap, I do like the way Devon accepted her and everything she was from the very beginning. We get a bit of tension that you are just waiting for one of these two to snap and when it does it had me flying through the pages. Both characters go through so much growth into this, Devon discovering what truly makes him happy in life and Alex lowering her walls and letting people in to see the true her and loving her anyways. Then ending was a bit rushed and I wish we got to see more of them back in Alexa hometown and how they’re living now. I wanted to see how well Devon was thriving and what was in store for Alex and Devon. But I do love their hard earned happily ever after and the direction the author chose to go. All over a very enjoyable read and I’m very excited to see how well loved this couple will be.

A perfectly cromulent romance. A little silly, and it has a good sense of humour about itself but not exceptional.

I've been a big fan of Rosie Danan since I read The Roommate so I was really excited to see her dipping into romantasy. This book was so charming and fun to read. I loved watching the two leads grow as individuals while they fell in love. Fans early 2000 paranormal shows like Buffy, Supernatural, Vampire Diaries will enjoy this book.
