Thank you to PRHAudio for the free audiobook and Berkley for the free book.

Full transparency I was nervous reading this because the magical realism could’ve fallen down a million plot holes but bless Rosie Danan for keeping control of the narrative cause I ended up really enjoying this. It’s an amalgamation/love letter to fandoms from both sides of the curtain, to me most reminiscent of Supernatural and Vampire Diaries.

For the premise I would read the back of the book/what's marketed because it really says it best. This is overall a fun adventure as the main characters try to figure out the parameters of the MMC suddenly shifting into a werewolf. In my opinion this actually pulls off an “unlikeable MMC” which I know won’t be everyone’s cup of tea but from his POV it felt true to his character of being a bit of a has been actor and honestly he could’ve been way worse lol so I loved his growth arc. I also love the subversion on the alpha trope, his inner wolf actually has to learn how to submit to her 😌 to be clear this is a paranormal NOT monster romance, there is no knotting but I’ll forgive it this time because the rest was compelling enough and I was sold by the initially unlikely romance.

As for the narration- really enjoyed especially the MMC POV done by Aaron Shedlock, he did such a good job. I loved this pair together. I did think though if a book is in 3rd POV anyway why not just have Aaron tell the whole thing to me like a bedtime story.. you wouldn’t hear me complaining. But the dual narration did balance well.

What a fun read!! I thoroughly enjoyed my time throughout the entirety of this book. I’m obsessed with how Rosie Danan created the rules of being a werewolf and the trials.

Also, let’s talk about his obsession with her scent—HOT!

Devin was such a himbo, and I loved every second of it. Alex was such a fun character, and I loved learning about her fandom days—being there, girl (one direction).

This book is the perfect black cat / golden retriever (who’s sometimes an ass). I loved how the two characters got to know and respected each other for who they were, not who they thought they would be.

Also, the primal play—okay, ma’am, I didn’t know I was into that, but YES!

I just had such a good time with this book.

I received this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. ARC provided by Berkley Publishing Group.

The only place small-town outcast Alex Lawson fits in is the online fan forum she built for Arcane, a long-running werewolf detective show. Her dedication to archiving fictional supernatural lore made her Internet-famous, even if she harbors a secret disdain for the show's star, Devin Ashwood. (Never meet your heroes - sometimes they turn out to be The Worst.)

Ever since his show went off the air, Devin and his career have spiraled, but waking up naked in the woods outside his LA home with no memory of the night before is a new low. It must have been a coincidence that the once-in-a-century Wolf Blood Moon crested last night. The claws, fangs, and howling are a little more difficult to explain away. Desperate for answers, Devin finds Alex - the closest thing to an expert that exists. If only he could convince her to stop hating his guts long enough to help.

Once he makes her an offer she can not refuse, these reluctant allies lower their guards trying to wrangle his inner beast. Unfortunately, getting up close and personal quickly comes back to bite them.

This was one of my most anticipated March reads, but it was disappointing. The premise of this sounded like so much fun and the werewolf part of it was very fun and cheesy, but the romance felt flat. Devin and Alex lacked chemistry which ultimately had me not really caring if they got together or not. But you can definitely only see that Devin really liked Alex in her werewolf form. Devin is also suppose to be forty two years old, but his maturity levels was questionable. I kept having to remind myself of his age. He did some pretty nasty things to Alex and I would of not let that slide. There is some character growth for both Devin and Alex, but it was not fleshed out enough. So much of the conflicts in this book could of been resolved if they just communicated. I was a fan of Teen Wolf when I was younger, and I really liked the fandom aspect of this. This was definitely a love letter to fandoms. If you are a fan of all thing werewolf or paranormal romance, this one is for you.

This one was fun! This was my first Rosie Danan book and I heard really good things about it from one of my friends! I enjoyed it in the first half but it did kind of lose me in the second half! I still think it was overall a really good plot and story!

This was great! It's not your typical paranormal romance but I loved how the characters grew and the depth in their backstories that came through as the story progressed. Everyone can have an outer shell but learning about the person underneath and their true value is the theme of this sexy contemporary romance. It's a strong contender for my best of the year list.

Thank you to Berkley and NetGalley for the copy of this ARC. I loved this so much! I've been a fan of Rosie Danan, but this has become my favorite of hers. This is a love letter to fandom, a check on your parasocial relationships (just remember your fave is a person and you don't know them like that) and a steamy romance.

This is obviously Supernatural/Teen Wolf inspired but Rosie Danan did a great job with world building here. Not only creating the real world that Alex and Devin inhabit, but the world and fandom of The Arcane Files, where Devin played a werewolf for umpteen years on a "TW" show.

Devin is 42, washed up and alone in the world. He's divorced, estranged from his parents (he is a former child star who got his start on soaps and his parents were AWFUL) and realizes that in a crisis such as "help I've turned into a werewolf for real" he doesn't have any actual friends to lean on.

Alex is 34, a vet tech and volunteer at her small town in Florida whose friends came from fandom and who has her walls up. She came back to town after her father got sick (he's fine now) and never finished college, sticking around to take care of him. Her mom split as a teen and she sees herself as the town outcast, the loner. Devin travels all the way to her town to ask her, as the mod of a now defunct fan site for TAF, to help him control his shifting into a werewolf. She agrees, even though she's still pissed at him for how her interaction with him at a meet and greet went when she was 17. After a series of trials, Alex and Devin can't resist their connection. Devin begins to find his community and make friends and so does Alex. They both have to learn to trust and let down their walls, but in the end this is one of the best black cat/golden retriever pairings I've ever read.

Thank you NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for this eARC in exchange for an honest review!

This was cute! I had a great time and I loved all of the fanfic references. This was a true enemies to lovers story and I liked that both of the characters were older than your typical romance leads. The whole premise of the story was ridiculous in the most fun way which lead to me having a great time and laughing a lot at the situations Alex and Devin got themselves too.

The spice was fun, the banter was a delight to read, and the chemistry between the characters, even when they hated each other, was fantastic.

Overall, a fun read!

this book was so cute!! i love a good paranormal romance. i struggled a bit with devin’s character, but enjoyed seeing his growth by the end. i really loved alex!!

you can tell this was made by a fangirl, for the fangirls and i LOVED THAT. it very much gave off vibes from the show supernatural and i couldn’t stop comparing the arcane files to it hehe.

overall i really enjoyed it and will be reading more by this author!!

This was such a fun read! The chemistry between Alex and Devin was fantastic. Their banter was sharp, and their vulnerability made them so relatable. The supernatural elements were a fun bonus, and I loved how the TV show's fictional world played into the romance, creating a perfect blend of nostalgia and intrigue. The way the mystery unfolded alongside their budding relationship was just the right balance of tension and sweetness. And of course, the humor was spot-on—there was just enough lightness to balance the more serious moments, keeping the story engaging and fun.

It’s a slow-burn romance done right, with the perfect mix of humor, steam, and heart.

DNF @ 30%. I really tired to get into this but the characters are so unlikeable and dense. I found the synopsis entertaining but the writing & characters were a total turn off.

This book was everything I hoped for AND MORE 😩

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️🌶️/5 spice

I absolutely adore a werewolf romance and at first I was a little iffy on the plot because Devin seemed like an ASSHOLE from the moment we met him and I didn’t think we would ever come back from that….

But clearly he proved me wrong because I was feral for this book. The smut scenes were so well done. Actually they were PERFECTION. The feral wolf in him only needing one thing and that was Alex.

I loved that she was so into a fandom that helped her grow and how he pushed her out of her hard exterior a bit. Both Alex and Devin had strong character ARCs over the whole book.

It was funny and romantic and I loved the spark they had.

Unfortunately there was no knotting - which was a bummer for me but it made up for it in everything else.

Highly recommend this to someone looking to step into the werewolf romance genre or just looking for a fun paranormal romcom.

Big thanks to Rosie Danan, Berkley and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinions!

I loved everything about about Rosie Danan's Fan Service, especially the supernatural aspect of the book. I mean, I was definitely a Teen Wolf girl back in the day. I knew Alex and Devin would have an amazing story after their first interaction where Alex, a big fan meets her idol, Devin. But, things don't go as planned and Alex spends the next several years hating Devin's guts.

Devin, a once-famous actor on The Arcane Files, is now at a very low point in his career--his agent drops him and he wakes up fully naked in the woods outside his home. He thinks his memory loss is just another side effect of a hangover, but when he sees a video of himself wolfing out, he seeks answers from The Mod of the fan website for The Arcane Files. Devin is extremely surprised to discover The Mod is Alex and she's equally sure that someone from her fan group chat is pranking her, but soon, they discover they're going to need to work together to make sure Devin doesn't have any repeat wolf incidents.

Fan Service is definitely different from the other romance books I've read as of late, but I loved the unique aspects of the book. I loved how jaded and stubborn Alex was in the beginning. She's a tough one and watching Devin break her walls down was so sweet. And Devin, I loved how he became part of Alex's hometown and he developed friendships with her dad, with Rowan, and with Lou.

Thank you Berkley for the copy of Fan Service!

**3.5-stars**

Fan Service is a light Paranormal Contemporary Romance novel from Rosie Danan. I really enjoyed Danan's last novel, Do Your Worst, so was excited to check this one out. In this story, we follow Alex Lawson and Devin Ashwood through alternating perspectives. Devin is an actor who starred in a CW-style werewolf television series, The Arcane Files. Alex is the girl who created and moderated the largest fan forum for the show.

We find out early on that the two actually met at a Con years before the start of our novel. Unfortunately, for Alex, the old adage 'never meet your heroes' turned out to be true. She overheard Devin making nasty comments about her and the costume she made; crushing for a teen. Even years later, even as she's internet famous for knowing everything there is to know about TAF, Alex holds a secret-disdain for its most famous star, Devin freaking-Ashwood.

Ever since the show went off the air, Devin has found his life in a steadily downward spiral. The morning he wakes up naked in the woods with the no memory of the night before though, that may be rock bottom. The recollections he does have, not to mention the witness reports, are disturbing. Like claws, fangs and howling. Certainly, the full moon was a coincidence, but maybe it's not. Is Devin literally turning into a werewolf?

Desperate for answers, Devin seeks out the one person who seems to know all there is to know about werewolves, at least the ones portrayed in The Arcane Files, the moderator of the popular fan forum. Thus, Alex and Devin's paths cross again. This time they're on more equal ground though, and in fact, Alex may have the advantage. Devin doesn't remember her, and she can play this any way she wants.

Ultimately, Devin pleading for help, makes Alex an offer she can't refuse and the two begin working together to figure this thing out. Before you know it, walls are coming down and an animal attraction is growing strong.

Fan Service is a great read. I enjoyed a lot of aspects of the story. It's an understandable romance, with a ton of solid character work, but it was a little too drawn out for my tastes, I have to admit. While I enjoyed learning about both of our main characters, I feel like I almost learned too much about them. Hahaha, is that even a thing?

IDK, but it is the feeling I walked away with. I'm not sure what specifically I would have cut out of it, but yeahhh, I just feel like all the details started to weigh the story down a bit. It sucked some of the fun out of it for me. Nevertheless, it had a lot of positives, not least of which was the lovely conclusion. I also thought the steamy bits were great; definitely my kind of kink, and I appreciated the work the author put into Alex and Devin. Trust, they were FULLY developed.

The more I think about it, the more I think I should round this rating up -- LOL. Don't be surprised if you see that little tick up at some point in the future. I did love the banter between the two and Devin's thoughts, in particular, cracked me up. It was definitely a slower build, but also still full of enjoyable content. I would definitely recommend this one to Readers who enjoy some steam and werewolves. Also, solid fandom vibes for those, like myself, who love that type of thing in a story.

Thank you, Berkley, for providing me with a copy to read and review. I'm definitely excited to keep picking up more from this author!

I feel like this is romcom fantasy if that was a genre. I went in skeptical and worried that I would cringe through the whole thing, but by halfway, I loved the characters and how different of a story this was. Quite a pallet cleanser and so millennial. The humor and supernatural aspects made this a good time

4⭐, 2.25🌶️, 4🎧

This book was so fun and unique. I wasn't obsessed over Alex or Devin charcater's but I still really enjoyed the entire plot premise and the romantic plot as well. The audiobook is narrated by Aaron Shedlock and Brittany Pressley and they both did great jobs!

If you liked Fangirl Down by Tessa Bailey, this is kindaaaa similiar in that Alex is a fan girl of Devin and his old show, The Arcane Files. After a meet and great where Devin unknowningly insults Alex, alex becomes a hater. Until years and years later that Devins life is in full chaos, hes a D-list celebrity fighting for a reboot of his old show....oh, and he thinks hes turning into a werewolf. Thankfully he tracks down Alex, who used to be a moderator for a Arcane Files/ Werewolf forum. Will Alex help Devin, and will he earn a redmption arc?

Thank you NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest and unpaid review!

Fan Service really just toed the line for me in terms of boredom/enjoyment. I feel overall pretty neutral about this book and I think it’s mostly my own fault. The whole world of fan fiction and fandoms is part of this story VERY heavily and the closest thing to a fandom I ever got to is my overwhelming nostalgic love for Sailor Moon. I never spent any real amount of time on fandom forums or fan fiction websites like AO3 and Wattpad, so I can’t really relate to a good portion of the story. I enjoyed that the fandom aspect added a bit of unseriousness that works really well for this story. It took well into the halfway point before I started seeing a kind of chemistry between Alex and Devin and the building of Devin’s character was a little too late in the book for me. I wanted to be endeared to him much sooner, but alas, I was 75% of the way in before saying “yeah, you know what he isn’t totally awful”. I think this will be an absolute hit for those who can relate to Alex as a character, especially those who are in fandoms and follow fan fiction. Unfortunately, since I don’t spend much time in that space, it fell a little flat for me.

Thank you to Berkley Romance, NetGalley, and the author for sending me an early copy!

Thanks to NetGalley, Penguin Random House, and Rosie Danan for providing me with an early copy in exchange for my honest review.

This book feels like it was written for anyone who read fanfiction and was deeply immersed in a fandom as a teenager. It features a fun concept that kept me turning the pages, and I found myself laughing and enjoying the witty banter. I thoroughly enjoyed reading a paranormal romance from Rosie and would love to see more of her work.

This might just be a wrong book wrong time kinda deal, but this didn't grab me the way I thought it would. Everything felt just slightly too shy of being fully fleshed out. I liked the complexity of Devin's life and personality, and I like reading books about slightly older protagonists since all romance skews toward early to mid-20 year olds. I just wish there was a little more oomph to some scenes but I am also a mood reader and I wasn't really in the mood for this kind of book so take this all with a grain of salt.
