When Jovi rushes home to save her family’s beloved Alaskan candy shop, she’s determined to revive her grandmother’s famous salted caramels, despite a missing recipe and Grammie’s fading memories. But her toughest challenge comes in the form of Burke, a single dad and grumpy author next door whose family has feuded with hers for decades. As old secrets surface and sparks fly, Jovi must decide if some recipes (and relationships) are worth the risk to pursue. A cozy winter read!

Cute story set in Alaska. I found it to be an endearing story and perfect for those looking for a cozy and clean romance. While being a christian romance novel, it does not over do the faith aspect at all. The romance is tasteful and not overly cheesy. There are always elements of a christian romance that feel a bit cheesy, but this one wasn't terrible by any means.

I would have liked to see Jovi do more with the Evergreen Candy Company. The whole time she is trying to find a secret recipe but there aren't really any scenes of her working at the shop.

Darby Jane is such a sweet little girl in the story. She is suppose to be about 5-6 years old, but seems more like a 7-8 year old. It's a minor detail, but it all plays into how realistic the story feels as you read.

I grew up in Alaska, so I found the mention of some towns fun to read about. Overall, this was an enjoyable read and I thoroughly enjoyed the romantic tension between Burke and Jovi.

Thank you for the ARC!

Fans of books set in Alaska with all the hallmarks of a wintery feel-good story will love Heidi McCahan’s newest release, A Winter of Sweet Secrets.

Jovi is a sunshiney character in need of a change. Reeling from a broken engagement, traveling nurse Jovi Wright is ready for her next contract. When her older sister, Isabel calls for help, Jovi jumps on the next plane to Alaska to help rescue the family’s chocolate business.

Burke Solomon is grieving the loss of his wife and infant son, while coming up empty for his next contracted book. In need of a change, Burke moves to Evergreen, Alaska, living in his aunt’s home with his young daughter.

I love how these two characters meet – it reminds me of Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow (minus the FBI chase). AND I love how a family feud goes back generations, making it next to impossible for these two to move forward with any kind of relationship. Darby Jane, Burke’s daughter adds that extra bit of charm to a perfect wintry read.

This book has all the feel-good vibes with a bit of drama that any squeaky-clean romance readers will enjoy.

I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.

If you enjoy a grumpy sunshine this book is for you. Jovi is a sweet caring nurse that drops everything to go help her family and for a change of scenery after a break up, Burke is looking for a fresh start after tragedy.

This book also has hard topics about loss, dementia, miscarriage and misunderstandings. Done in a way that is tender and relatable.

A Winter of Sweet Secrets was delightful. I enjoyed every page.

Jovi has come home to help her sister with the family business. Her parents are wanting to sell, but she is holding out hope that she can change their mind. If she can only find her Grammie’s salted caramel chews. She knows this is what the business needs to keep running.

Burke has had a hard few years. He is moving his daughter to Alaska for a fresh start. When he arrives he meets Jovi and things really get intersting.

Between the two of them they imbark on a slow journey of falling for each other and solving the msytery of why their families have been fueding for decades.

A Winter of Sweet Secrets is such a cozy read. It has love, friendships, mystery and second chances. I adored the characters, the town and Burkes sweet daughter.

I highly recommend!

A sweet, slow romance that has not 3 POVs: FMC Jovie, MMC Burke, and Jovie's sister Isabel. Jovie is a traveling nurse that comes home to help her sister with the family business, but gets stuck at the airport, enter Burke and his daughter Darby Jane. They drive together and then find out they are neighbors.

The slight mystery in the book kept the storyline moving. It was a fun and sweet read.

A Winter of Sweet Secrets is a heartwarming romance with a sprinkle of mystery that kept me engaged throughout. I really enjoyed the three POVs—it was refreshing to not only follow Burke and Jovi’s charming grumpy/sunshine romance but also get insight into Isabel’s (Jovi’s sister) journey. Darby Jane and her growing bond with Jovi added another sweet layer to the story. While the pacing was a bit slow in a few spots, the emotional depth and character development more than made up for it. Overall, an enjoyable, feel-good winter read!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own. The faith thread is light. 4 stars.

"A Winter of Sweet Secrets' indeed! Heidi McCahan has written a totally romantic novel. What would a great romance novel be without secrets being revealed that could threaten a budding relationship. A handsome widowed male novelist with an adorable little girl and a model-worthy female main character with a Romeo & Juliet feud between their families. Can forgiveness find its way into their challenges to offer a chance for a future?

Releases Spt. 30th. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This author is new to me, but I will be keeping an eye out for anything else they publish. I loved the story and the characters. The pacing of the story was great and the characters were relatable.

A moving and slightly suspenseful clean romance. Author Heidi McCahan drew me in on the first page with a delicious description of chocolate and weaved it throughout the entire story. A charming story set in an Alaskan chocolate shop you won't want to put down.

Clean, cute, cozy romance. It’s definitely a book to recommend for hallmark fans. The plot wasn’t very original, I could guess the ending, but overall it was a fun read.

thought this was a great Hallmark esk book, enjoyed the simplicity of it! was so happy that it was a clean romance too!

I thought the characters were very relatable and it was sweet seeing the romance blossom.

my biggest issue was the fact that the pov's changed and there wasn't like a break telling you. like in the beginning, Jovi is talking with her sister on the phone and mid conversation the pov changes to the sister. I'm not sure if it's just how the book was formatted for the ARC or what. but I didn't like how it flowed.

overall it was a good book! thank you NetGalley and the author for this ARC!

A chance meeting, of a grumpy single dad with a precious little girl and a recently jilted woman with a sunshine personality, leads to an engaging story as they discover a rift between their families.

This is a charming tale that pulls various emotions throughout the book. Topics included are dementia, miscarriage, loss of loved ones, secrets, betrayal, forgiveness, and more. The little girl is delightful, adding another layer to the interaction between the main characters. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to those who like romance in the midst of drama.

Sweet, cozy winter romance. Jovi Wright's family has run the Evergreen Candy Company ever since her grandmother started the company. But now it's in trouble. Jovi's parents want to sell the company. Jovi and her sister want to keep it. Jovi believes if she can just find her Grandmother's secret recipe for her caramel chews, it'll be exactly what the company needs to stay in business.

Burke Solomon is still blaming himself for the accident that killed his wife and infant son when he decides to take his daughter Darby Jane to live in Evergreen. When he meets Jovi, sparks fly. Except that his late aunt and Jovi's grandmother have fueded for as long as everyone can remember. But perhaps Burke can help Jovi find the recipe she's seeking and they can create the family they both need.

Some religious undertones included that do not aid the storyline - I didn't realize the imprint when I requested the novel.

I always love anything by Harlequin LoveInspired authors with Heidi’s newest book being no exception. I loved this sweet winter time Alaskan clean sweet romance.
Jovi after a devastating breakup before her wedding, she doesn’t know where to go but when her sister ask her to come back home to Alaska to try and save the family’s candy shop. She mets Burke, single widowed father and his sweet bubbly daughter, Darby Jane.
This book has some mystery to it with the family’s secret which kept me intrigued even more. I read it in basically in one day (started late last night but knew if I didn’t stop I’d stay awake all night 🫣.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

This was a sweet and charming romance, perfect for putting you in the mood for wintertime. I really enjoyed the budding relationship between Jovi and Burke—the push and pull between them felt believable and well-paced. The multiple POVs added a nice depth to the story, especially getting glimpses from Jovi’s sister’s perspective.

The underlying mystery surrounding the long-lost recipe and the family rift added just enough intrigue to keep things moving. I’ll admit, there were moments I wanted to shake a few characters—they could be a bit dense—but it didn’t take away from the enjoyment overall. A lovely winter read!

I received an ARC from the author. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
