If you love Hallmark type stories, this one is for you.

A Winter of Sweet Secrets is a lovely clean romance novel by Heidi McCahan.

Years of feuding has left two candy companies leaving emotions running high. With Jovi on a quest to find the elusive Salted Caramel Chews recipe to save her families company from being bought out by a conglomerate. Her grandmother is in an Alzheimer unit and doesn't remember any of the family. Which puts Jovi on the hunt in every cubby and corner of Grammys house.

Burke has relocated to Alaska after a tragic loss of his wife and baby son. He brings his five year old daughter, who is a delightful addition to the story. He meets Jovi at the airport where they are stranded and offers her a ride. The romance blooms even though both families have been feuding for years. The mystery of the rift between the families is engaging as they try to figure it out along with who owns the recipes.

Good dialogue, interesting plot and entertaining reading.

I received a complimentary ebook from the publisher through Net Galley. All opinions are my own.

If you love movies on the Hallmark Channel then you're definitely gonna love this book. After all , a feuding family and a secret recipe are the perfect combination for a love story.

I also loved how the book was written from multiple points of view. Mostly are two main characters but a family member as well so it gave a great perspective. I also loved that it was set in an Alaskan town because Alaska's one of my favorite places. Jovi and Burkes story had just the right amount of banter. All in all this story was charming and appealing. Its the perfect book to cozy up with on the couch on a cold winter day.

This book gave charming, sweet, small town, Hallmark movie vibes. It was a nice, clean and cozy read. I do like that there was a bit of mystery involved about feuding families and secret recipes. I also enjoyed the triple point of view piece - I’m used to dual point of view stories but this was the first triple point of view. It was written well because I did find myself invested in all the characters stories!

However, at the end of the day it was just a charming and cozy story, but not memorable, hence the 3 stars.

This was a sweet and charming romance, perfect for putting one in the mood for wintertime. I enjoyed the romance between Jovi and Burke, the push and pull between the two was well done. I also enjoyed the multiple points of view in the book as we get to see things from not only Burk and Jovi's perspectives, but also from Jovi's sister as well.
The underlying mystery of finding the missing recipe and figuring out what caused the rift between Jovi's family and Burke's family added an extra layer to the story.
I admit at times I got quite irritated with the characters, a few times they were too dense for their own good, but overall I did really enjoy this book.
*I received an ARC from author. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

With this being my first book by this author, I was more than pleasantly surprised! Emotions ran high, family feuds seemed interminable, disappointments clung mercilessly, yet hope was the single thread woven throughout bringing closure to years of bitterness and regret. And could the possibility of that one single, magical recipe being found and recreated save the failing family business? How about hints of romance sprinkled throughout? A delightful, entertaining read!
