I love the new detective Gina Harte book which I found much more intriguing and really kept me guessing until the last page, I also preferred the fact that in this book the action was really at the centre and we had less of Gina's personal turmoil to consider, she really grew now to take care of her own things and I prefer her this way. Thanks a lot Netgalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book!

My thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘One Last Prayer’, book 16 in the Detective Gina Harte series written by Carla Kovach, in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Sally, the vicar at Cleevesford, is concerned about Nell who’s just attended her mother and baby meeting but when she goes to Nell’s home she finds her dead in the garden and eighteen-month-old Alfie left unattended in the house. As DI Gina Harte investigates what becomes a very difficult and convoluted case, she’s worried about her own health and the text messages she’s receiving from an unknown number.
‘One Last Prayer’ is an addictive police thriller about Nell and her father Ross Craven who’s just been released from prison after killing her mother. This is a fast-paced and intriguing thriller with interesting characters all of whom are considered to be suspects at some time in the story. There are so many twists and turns that although I tried to work out who was responsible the discovery of new evidence kept making me change my mind. I was gripped throughout especially as the red herrings confused Gina and her team, but there were so many suspects towards the end that when the person responsible was finally revealed it wasn't what I was expecting. I’m already looking forward to reading the next book in the series as the cliff-hanger on the final page promises more problems are on their way for Gina Harte.

Thank you to NetGalley for my copy
Another great story from Carla Kovach about Detective Gina Harte.
When a young woman is murdered Gina and her team need to find the culprit, buy then another young woman is killed.
A good story with red herrings and misdirections. I don’t like the back story, I think it’s gone on to long, but that could be just me.

This is book 16 in the DI Gina Harte series. I haven’t read the whole series so can definitely be read as a standalone but if you like to know the backstory that is referenced you are better to start from the beginning. It starts off at a slow pace and eases you in and then it gets going and doesn’t let up. I flew through this one as it weaves a really interesting storyline with many a surprise and change of direction. Well developed storyline and characters. Really likeable characters especially the DI Gina Harte’s team. It all came together well with no unanswered questions. Really enjoyed this one and how the story unfolded. Looking forward to reading more of this series.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review #OneLastPrayer

What's it all about, Alfie?👶
4.5🌟stars
The murder mystery here is complex, twisty and unpredictable, starting with the macabre death of a young mother with her untouched toddler Alfie just steps away, and I certainly was kept in suspense right through to the end. I just found lead detective Gina Harte's health issues distracting and the way she handled them implausible.
I've been following this series through many books and the author has a way with her plots that sets them apart from the mainstream of police procedurals.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

It is no secret that I am a massive fan of Gina Harte, her team and her fabulous creator Carla Kovach. I eagerly anticipate the next release as soon as I finish the newest one.
This storyline in this next installment is filled with lots of different POVS which felt very different to a usual Gina Harte book. Including seeing previous character coming to the forefront of the story.
Not only do you follow the cases with this team, but there is always a background storyline that continues through the series. Getting to know everyone better and all that goes on in their lives.
The last 40% of this book was very hard to put down and very addictive. Had my heart racing, nails bitten as far as they will go with the suspense and waiting for everything to be revealed.
As always another installment of the series that is addictive and fantastic. Will eagerly be stalking for the next one. Especially after finishing on that cliffhanger.... I hope it's not too long of a wait.

This one starts with a bang. A solid plot that keeps you guessing.. while this has a solid cast I did find we didn’t really get to know the characters well. But overall this was a good read that kept me invested till the end

One Last Prayer by Carla Kovach is a highly recommended investigative thriller and the sixteenth novel in the Detective Gina Harte series. This procedural quickly turns into a complicated investigation.
Local vicar, Sally, finds a note asking for help at the morning mothers and toddlers group and immediately knows Nell wrote it. She rushes to Nell's home and hears her one-year-old son Alfie crying. Looking for a way in to the house, she finds Nell's body in the backyard and calls the police. DI Gina Harte and team are called in to investigate and are searching for a brutal killer. As the police begin to investigate, the case quickly becomes increasingly complicated and the violence continues.
The well-written narrative unfolds through several different points-of-view, along with diary entries. The suspense ratchets up with each new piece of information uncovered and discovery made in the investigation. There are a whole lot of people who could be suspects so the plot also increases in complexity and twists abound.
At one point there were almost too many twists, suspects, and characters to parse. In some ways this is a good development, in others, maybe not so much. I wasn't a fan of Gina's increasing health concerns in the plot.
Even though this is the sixteenth book in the series, it can be enjoyed as a standalone. This is a great choice for those who love complicated procedurals with lots of suspects. Thanks to Bookouture for providing me with an advance reader's copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary and expresses my honest opinion.
The review will be published on Barnes & Noble and Amazon.

Wow! How fabulous was this next instalment?
Gina Harte is one of my favourite characters in the crime thriller book world. It’s a series I always look forward to due to the fabulous secondary storyline than runs throughout the series. The characters are very well written, they are familiar and each have a character profile that you can’t help but want to follow due to their individual sub-themes. I’m not sure how the next book will go but I know that I’m already itching for it after that brilliant cliffhanger!
Once again Carla Kovach has delivered and raised my expectations for the next book. I’m still not sure how she still manages this after 16 books and I doubt that will stop anytime soon.

Gina has to solve a tough case, again. I absolutely love this series. I have the entire series and I envoured each book. The stories are well written, easy to read, twisty, page turning, ar realistic storyline with well developed characters. I can thoroughly recommend Carla Kovach's books.
I received an advance review copy via NetGalley/Bookouture and I'm leaving a voluntary and honest review.

One Last Prayer is the sixteenth book in the Detective Gina Harte series. I started reading these books fairly late in the series, but have enjoyed getting to know Gina and her team in the books I've read. Gina is working on a heartbreaking case when a single mom is found dead in her backyard. The crime scene is gruesome and unfortunately the killer isn't finished. This case is suspenseful and sometimes a bit confusing as the plot becomes more and more complex. It was sometimes hard to keep track of how all the suspects and witnesses were connected, but overall I enjoyed the book and I like the way the case wrapped up. After the case is resolved, there is a cliffhanger involving Gina that didn't completely make sense to me. I think this may be because I haven't read all of the prior books in the series.
I received an advance copy of the ebook courtesy of NetGalley and Bookouture, but my review is voluntary and unbiased.

Crime fiction perfection, do not start this book if you have anything else planned for a few hours, as it will be impossible to put this down. I was up until three this morning, unable to stop reading till the end. What a fabulous read, I love this series anyway, the characters are some of the best written in this genre and the writing is always superb, but this book is even better than usual. You really will suspect everyone. If I could give more than five stars, I would. Outstanding.

Detective Gina Harte has always liked the local vicar, Sally, and now she is involved in a case that Gina's team is investigating. A young mother who attends a parent-toddler gathering at the church is acting strangely. After the gathering is over, Sally discovers something that causes her to rush to the woman's home only to discover her murdered in the backyard with her young son still in the house. While Gina searches for the perp, Sally volunteers to care for the toddler until the murder victim's sister agrees to take in her nephew. It is a very well-crafted mystery with twists and turns that lead to a surprise ending.

Book 16 in this incredible series. It's brilliant. It is well written, with a good plot and the characters are credible with plenty of twists and turns

A great addition to the Gina Harte series. This book can be read as a standalone or part of the series. I love Gina because she is a strong woman and does not back down. A great detective book to keep you entertained!

One last prayer by Carla Kovach is the 16th book in the series and yet again the author does not disappoint.
When a young mother Nell is found murdered and her eyes taken out, Detective Gina Harte does everything she can to find the killer who has left a Nell’s small son Alphie an orphan. The local vicar Sarah looks after Alfie whilst the investigation is in progress and until they find Nell’s half-sister Maeve who also might be in danger. Because at first thoughts that Nell’s father is the killer, or is he?
This is another gripping thriller from the author, somewhat more complex that others, with a lot of red herrings along the way. But nevertheless, an enjoyable read and I can’t wait for the next one. 5 stars from me

Book sixteen in this series featuring Detective Gina Harte. Interesting story with many twists and turns plus some personal stuff going on in Ginas life. A good read.

Kovach delivers again!

Red flags everywhere, but I did foresee how this mystery would end. Carla crafted another story that keeps you engaged from start to finish, weaving snippets together that had you questioning all the characters but not quite knowing who responsible for the 2 murders they were trying to solve. The ending has a nice lead in to the next book or future stories.

“One Last Prayer” is the sixteenth book in the Gina Harte series by author Carla Kovach. This is a series that I have dipped in and out of disregarding the book order. This lackadaisical way hasn’t really spoilt my enjoyments of the series although I do appreciate it would be better read in order.
The book starts with a young mother named Nell racing home holding her son tightly in her arms oblivious to what danger lies ahead in her own house. Her body is discovered the next day by Sally the local vicar and the hunt for a savage killer begins.
Sally is a very good character and is a victim and a witness, her courage and empathy add a layer of emotion to the story. Sally struggles to make sense of Nell’s murder as well as facing threats to her own life.
The story is well paced and in my opinion this is the best book I have read in this series up to now. DI Gina Harte needs to catch the killer before they strike again.
I would like to thank both Netgalley and Bookouture for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I love Detective Gina Harte and her team and book 16 does not disappoint. This time we meet two half sisters Nell and Maeve. They have been estranged since the death of Maeves mother. When Nell is brutally murdered leaving behind her toddler son Maeves life is thrown into chaos. Did her Father kill her sister and who will take care of the young child now. As the local Vicar is also attached Gina is not only on a race against time to keep everyone safe but it also struggling with her own health and some messages from an anonymous person who seems to have a grudged to bear. Roll on book 17.
