Love at Second Sight is a sweet, heartfelt romance that explores the beauty of unexpected connections and new beginnings. F.T. Lukens crafts a tender story filled with warmth, humor, and moments that will make your heart skip a beat.

F.T. Lukens does it again in this type of storyline, it had that writing style that I wanted and enjoyed from this type of book. The characters felt like real people and thought the overall storyline worked with the paranormal element that I was expecting. It was so well written and thought the overall story and characters worked wonders. I can't wait to read more from F.T. Lukens.

I enjoyed the paranormal aspect of this book. I enjoyed Cams journey as he became his own person. I just felt we didn’t get the full angsty teenager that is going through it. I also, felt this was slightly rushed with conclusions, instead of developing the full picture. I also felt like we didnt get a full story or idea of his parents or their thought process. Also, the brother disappearing then appearing wasn’t fleshed out enough.

I’m a big fan of paranormal romances! I find them so fun and always devour them. This didn’t disappoint. I really enjoyed the plot, characters, romance, and the writing.
I enjoyed the mystery in this book and the characters had their own little found family with each other that I loved!
The only criticism I really have is that sometimes Cam felt a bit underwhelming as a main character and I wanted to shake him a little, but I didn’t mind it too much. Made him a bit more relatable at the end of the day.
If you’re someone like me who loves paranormal romances then I would definitely recommend giving this story a try!

This is my first book by this author and it won’t be my last.
Love At Second Sight is a fun high school paranormal romance.
I went into this book with no expectations and no clue what it was about. I got a fun mystery being solved by a found family, all while still being heart wrenching.
I loved all of the characters, the relationships just felt so real and relatable.
Overall I really enjoyed this one, if you’re looking for something light I recommend this.

F.T. Lukens has done it again. Urban Fantasy and YA is not a cocktail that's for everyone, including myself. Especially when it's a YA romance. And yet they create this brilliant and vivacious community of people around the protagonists and it all just ends up being the perfect paranormal hug. While this one does have a romance in it, it's not the main focus AT ALL. Normie wallflower Cam just wants to have a normal year of high school with his best friend, with a side of mooning at his werewolf crush, all the while grappling with the loss of a beloved sibling to estrangement, and the increased coven responsibilities of his witch bff. Until he is thrust into the paranormal spotlight with a violent emergence of his own clairvoyant powers. Suddenly he is having to play lore catch-up and ALL the attention of every paranormal faction in town. While his relationship with his best friend goes through growing pains, and his parents come out as cartoonish bigots, he suddenly has more friends than ever (almost a full paranormal bingo), including the shy werewolf crush. There's tension between the factions but Cam's squad are focused on helping him acclimate to his new reality and solving the mystery of his first vision of a gruesome future. It's honestly such a fun and perfectly wholesome story of queer adolescence and found family, that you don't mind that the romance is playing a distant second fiddle to the story of a friend group. The climax is almost predictable and the adults are either cartoonish or largely absentee, but those are nitpicks, because this is really about the journey of coming into your own powerful identity, being thrust into a much larger and sometimes brutal world, and learning to trust in the safety and kindness of your chosen family.

This book presented a serious and somewhat frightening look at the cost of becoming who you really are. Cam discovers he has a gift and has to navigate the repercussions of what he can do and what others want from him as a result. This book feels darker than FT Lukens' other YA novels. I loved the found family that gather around to protect Cam, and the elders who give him wise advice. I will recommend this and all of Lukens' books to readers of YA LGBTQIA fantasy.
Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!

Listen, in this household, we love F.T. Lukens. Their work is incredible and they’re always able to somehow walk the line between ridiculousness and being sincerely heartfelt. This book is no exception. It’s all the best parts of their writing that any F.T. Lukens fan has come to expect. It’s fun, it’s zany, there’s a strangely endearing and mismatched group of weirdos at the center, and it’s also asking big questions about how we navigate discovering new parts of ourselves.
I read this all in one sitting. I loved it that much. It was *so* entertaining. I loved the mystery at the core of the story and this ragtag crew trying to work together to figure it out. But also going from having no power to having an incredibly rare power is a major shift for Cam, and it’s interesting to see how that impacts the way he sees himself. And I think his clairvoyant powers are a really great metaphor not only for how we approach the inevitability of the future as it continuously rushes towards us but also how important it is to understand context. Especially in this age of disinformation, especially with upcoming generations ho are going to struggle with media literacy or any kind of literacy in a way that no other generation has before, that is such an important theme to explore.
Cam can only see a glimpse of the future when they have a vision, and it’s from a very specific first-person perspective. They can’t see everything. They just see a piece. And we see time and time again throughout the story how having just a little information can be a lot dangerous, especially when we’re using limited information to make big decisions. Context matters, and as the friend group in this story are trying to investigate who this killer might be, what they’re really trying to do is figure out what context they’re missing so that they can find the right approach when this moment inevitably comes to pass.
That’s another thematic overtone I really appreciate in this story, how it shows that we may not be able to change or stop the future from happening, but we can prepare ourselves for it as best we can and find people who will anchor us as we walk through those moments and those changes. Again, I think those are invaluable things to think about, especially for teens reading this story. And I love how F.T. Lukens is able to explore those ideas within this funny, entertaining, endearing package of genre tropey-ness and goodness.
My two minor notes are that sometimes there’s so much going on that important plot points seem to be forgotten, which can make some things feel underdeveloped when they come back around. And I also wanted a tad bit more from the cute romance between Cam and his werewolf crush. But this was still absolutely wonderful, and I gave it 4.75 stars.

it was fun to read. but it just didn't hit for me just like his last book that i've read.
some of the author's writing are getting repetitive. not to mention cam; one of the main characters, has main character energy, which leave me disappointed a bit.
for the mystery part, nothing scary about it (since it has mystery element). and i already knew who the culprit is once the book continues.
and of course, i love and appreciate cam's friend group. i love the friendship growth from cam and al; his best friend, to slowly making the way to find new friends.

This was such a surprise! I haven’t read an F.T. Lukens before, but this one just sounded so good! It’s been awhile since I’ve read a paranormal book, so I was hella excited for this one. And I’m so glad it did not disappoint.
Ok so the paranormal world in this was so cool! There’s all sorts of paranormal beings, but the info about them is so scant. Besides the like wolf thing and the information that Cam gets about the new thing he found out, we don’t get much. I wish that we got more information about the others, but maybe it’s setting up for a series that will follow some others. I’m hoping that’s the case because I actually really want more of this story.
The mystery in this was cool tho. I did guess who it was, but I didn’t care because I was still so into the rest of the story. And plus, its been SO LONG since I’ve read a paranormal book, so I wanted to finish it out. And it didn’t disappoint! So it starts at the very beginning, so it hooks you right away. It does get a little slow in some places, but not enough for me to get bored. I was hooked in this one and I really couldn’t stop reading it.
The entire way I was enthralled tho was because of the narrator. Idk, but I really liked them. I listened to them several times in other audiobooks and I don’t think I thought about it as much afterward. For whatever reason I really got into this book and went to look up everything else that they narrated. It was really good.
This was so cute, but also so mysterious and dark. The whodunit is going to rock you if you don’t guess it. And tbh, even if you do because it still rocked me too lol This was a really cool (I hope) opening to a new series and I can’t wait to see more of what is to come!

Using familiar fantasy elements, but adding some new conflicts and modern twists, Love at Second Sight is a fun high school romance. I loved all the Scooby characters; they brought both attitude and humor to the table. I always like a romance that is pretty straightforward and doesn't struggle for dumb ways for characters to be mean to each other. The antagonism comes from a different quarter and misunderstandings are understanable. Hard to discuss without spoilers, but the importance of the final showdown was clear. I'd read a sequel to this enjoyable romp.

I really wanted to love this one especially since I always love book by this author but I just wasn’t into it. Cam was such a damsel in distress that I found myself annoyed by nearly everything he did. The romance felt pretty superficial and the event he was trying to prevent felt so underwhelming and brief when it finally arrived. The outcome as well felt a bit way too convenient. This wasn’t the satisfying read I was hoping for a felt like it could have been for the younger side of YA (12-14) if the foul language was removed. As much as I loved the premise the actual story itself was far too simple and long winded.

Love at Second Sight follows Cam, starting his sophomore year with his witch best friend by his side as they vow to find their best selves this school year. Cam is one of the few humans at his school with no magic and no powers, and he's fine with it, expect that it means his best friend is starting to pull away. When he accidentally finds himself caught up in a fight in the hallway, he has his first psychic glimpse. It changes everything as he navigates supernatural factions wanting to ally themselves with him, worry about the glimpse he saw coming to pass, and of course, the new attention of his werewolf crush, Mateo.
I am a big F.T. Lukens fan, and was so excited after reading the premise of their latest book. I really loved these characters, and felt for what Cam was going through. I was enjoying getting to know their ragtag crew of supernatural teenagers slowly at first, but then the last quarter of the book, stuff really hits the fan and it's a wild ride from there. I liked this world that resembles ours, but with magic and supernatural beings all coexisting, even if it's fraught at times. There were a few loose ends I felt could have been wrapped up a little better, but overall I enjoyed this story a lot and can't wait to read what they write next!

This was so so so fun! I read it fast and was completely devouring it. It's been so long since i've read a paranormal romance that completely enamored me. Even though the world is contemporary it feels so full of world building and magical creatures. This coming of age story with the backdrop of the paranormal was so fun! I loved that the story felt more centered around Cam and his experiences rather than just a romance with Mateo.
The journey of self-accceptance in this was great! My only issue was with the story revolving around Aiden's brother, he quickly became a character I didn't like and wasn't "redeemed" for me. As well the last 15% of the book felt a bit rushed to me and there was suddenly so much going on. I did enjoy the various plot twists as they kept me suger engaged with the book!

Considering that I have never read anything by this author before - I wasn't quite sure what I was expecting going into this book. However, all of my expectations (even unknowingly to me!) were met. This was such a great and fun read - the layers and questions that keep you guessing, the sweet and tender romance subplot, and the fun mystery that keeps you guessing? All very well done.
Perfect for lovers of YA mystery with a wee bit of paranormal activity, and an incredible found family.

FT Lukens has become the master of teen found families for me, and this was no exception. I loved everything about this grouping. Cam was a great leader into it, as the one with some of the greatest stakes in the game, who also knew nothing going in and needed everything explained to him along with the readers. I don't think I've ever read a clairvoyant story before, at least not in recent memory, but it reminded me of all the best days in my Charmed and That's So Raven media history. Gemma was absolutely iconic as the main guide to the paranormal, she reminded me a lot of early Nico with his Mythomagic cards. The slow teeny-bop romance between Cam and Mateo was handled perfectly too.
I've seen a couple of reviews hate on the ending, I really liked it. It was definitely a huge ramp-up on the story beats to that point, and I really wish they'd done more with Cam's brother Aiden in the lead-up, but I thought it was done well enough. It was very La Sala's The Honeys, another one of my favorite recent teen fantasy/horror books, so I can't be mad at it.

I haven't had such a fun time in a while! I genuinely went into this with no expectations just that it was queer and paranormal. I ended up with a thrilling mystery being solved by a ragtag found family friend group all while still being cozy and delivering exceptional lessons in acceptance and finding who you are. My first FT Lukens book but absolutely not my last!

Cute and fun! I think this one had a lot of light to it and I really enjoyed how good it made me feel by the end. The characters were easy to root for and I enjoyed how their stories wove into one another’s. Paranormal romances can be difficult to nail but this really worked for me!

I enjoyed this book! It’s fun, past-paced and features quirky characters that bring their own charm to the story. Cam is a pretty realistic main character who’s fifteen and facing a wild paranormal crisis.
Although it was a bit predictable and didn’t go outside the box too much with stereotypical paranormal tropes, I think for a younger reader this would be perfect. It’s designed for lower YA, but I think even upper middle grade kids would enjoy this as well!
I gave it a 4.25 ⭐️
Also, this was originally an ARC, but it’s been out for a few weeks now, so go check it out!

There’s this cool blend of everyday life and just a hint of the supernatural that adds a little extra spark to the story. It’s got that warm, slow-build feel with themes of second chances, trust, and fate nudging people together. Such a fun read!
