A charming and light fun story that I enjoyed reading. I love how the attraction between Lucian and Julia began. I liked the characters and the story was good from beginning to the end. I love forward to reading more stories from Megan Frampton.

Luciano and diantha are the odd ones in their families. It's almost as if they were each born into the wrong family. Diantha is the serious one in a family that only wants to have fun. Lucian is the one that is the fun-loving son, whose father and older brother are all business and no pleasure.
The two of them have come together to work on a project. As the work continues, the attraction grows. They are the most unlikely of partners but it seems to be working.
It was a cute, fun, easy to read romance and I enjoyed it. I want to thank netgalley for the opportunity to review this book

The name and cover are awsome but, it was a real struggle to read this. I just don't think it was for me. Normally I love historical romances but this one like I said was not for me. It was a very slow start and never realy picked up.

I enjoyed this book! It was sweet, funny, and charming. I loved the two MCs. Diantha and Lucien both were characters who had more to them that meets the eye. Also they had great banter and the build of their relationship was very satisfying. It was fun getting to watch them grow and come to a better understanding of themselves and those around them. The cast of side characters were also interesting, especially the Courtenay's. They brought some wonderful hilarity to the story. I look forward to what comes next in this series!

Lord Lucian Eldridge, second son of the Duke of Wexford and Lady Diantha Courtenay, oldest daughter of the Earl of Courtenay, may not have anything in common, but that doesn't stop secret meetings for kisses. Their fathers' are enemies over a business transaction that fell through twenty years ago. Diantha and Lucian are tasked to come up with a solution for using the abandoned factory before it's taken by the Crown. Diantha wants her independence, Lucian needs something to prove his worth to his father. Maybe they aren't so different after all. A sarcophagus?

Julian Eldridge, the second son of the Duke of Waxford, meets Diantha Courtenay, the daughter of the Earl of Courtenay, his father’s former partner, now a dreaded enemy. Julian and Diantha decide to work together to come up with an idea that will revitalize the factory that is mutually owned by their fathers. As they spend time together trying to make the factory profitable, they find themselves unable to fight the attraction hey have for each other. Julian and Diantha both know their families will not approve of a relationship between them but they are unable to deny their connection with each other. The Devil’s Charm is a slow burn with lots of family drama and a HEA.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Thank you to Harper Collins and NetGalley for the ARC of this title.

This is my first Megan Frampton and it is easy to see why she is so prolific in historical romance. This is a low-angst/conflict and serviceable historical romance. Diantha is the daughter of an eccentric Earl and Countess who just wants to have her freedom and clings to being stable and predictable. Her family has had a lot of financial instability due to her parents and their whims so she just wants some stability.

Lucien is the second son of an overbearing duke who is feuding with Diantha's family. He has a libertine reputation, but honestly isn't that rakish. He just wants to feel some joy and not be under the thumb of his disapproving father. Diantha and Lucien come together first for an illicit tryst but then are thrust together to figure out what to do with a shared factory between their families. They end up deciding to make life jackets in the factory and continue to rendez-vous but oops! they fall in love! The third act break up is quite short and really just about Lucien figuring out how to manage what he wants and his father. A good entry level historical romance. Not too steamy and the characters spend a lot of time just chatting and becoming friends and laughing together.

This book bored me. The story has a lot of promise with our main characters children of feuding parents who are working together to figure out a use for an old factory. However, the story just makes the same points over and over and forward movement is slow. Then they admit their love, but have a months long breakup for reasons that seem stupid and then voila they are back together.

This book just wasn’t for me. Thanks to the publisher for a review copy via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I adored this book so much. Lucien and Diantha are well matched for each other. I loved reading their story, and how they fell in love with each other. He helped her loosen up, and she helped him “settle” a bit. They just fit each other so well, and I wish there was more of their story.

Tryst lists will include museums thanks to Megan Frampton’s The Devil’s Charm, first in the Heirs & Spares series!

Lady Diantha Courtenay and Lord Lucian Eldridge’s meet-cute escalated real quick! I enjoyed that they have different personalities. He was seen as a rake however kind and misunderstood. She was serious however hiding a sensual side. What makes this story better was their parents were enemies, yet they were forced by duty and desire!

This was a well-paced and low angst book. We can enjoy the character development, the plot twist, the anticipation of meeting for dates, and the kissing sessions.

I also enjoyed the secondary characters! The Courtenays were made of eccentric, serious, and middling family members. We can feel the love, irritation, and support. And, I love the message that family doesn’t have to be biological, it could be our own friends!

If you enjoy “love” at first sight, opposites attract, close proximity, found family, nefarious agreements, and amazingly capable women standing up for what’s best, then I highly recommend this book!

Thank you to Net Galley, Avon, and Harper Voyager US for the ARC in exchange for a honest review.

Lord Lucian Blackwood enjoys the life of the spare son that is until his father gives him a task Lucian cannot/doesn't want to get out of when he finds it involves Lady Diantha Courtney. Diantha wishes for one night of fun which ends up involving Lucian and kissing. Once the night if over she will return back to her steadfast ways to keep her family from their often rocky ventures. Yet, Lucian & Diantha's father's have a factory that needs to be dealt with & after a settlement has been reached, Lucian is tasked with dealing with it. And he soon finds Diantha a most intriguing upside to a task he had been loathing.

The Devil's Charm gave me such great cozy romance vibes. The audiobook narrator really brought the frothy fun to the story and characters. And I loved how much one-on-one time Diantha and Lucian had at the museum!

I enjoyed the characters of Diantha and Lucian. I love how Lucian excels at finding the perfect person for any possible task―thus allowing him the freedom to enjoy life's pleasures from his favourite ices to dancing with beautiful women at balls. He was a character that really imbued joy. Diantha, I felt a kinship too in a number of ways. I am enjoying her night of fun and the 'consequences' she is finding in luscious Lucian.

The Devil's Charm gave me such great cozy romance vibes.

The Devil's Charm is the first book in Megan Frampton's new Heirs & Spares series. Practical, reserved Diantha and tall, dark playboy Lucian find themselves caught in an instant attraction. But there's a catch – their families have been feuding for decades due to a business fallout. Despite Diantha’s best efforts to keep her distance from Lucian, things take a turn when both their parents ask them to solve a tricky business problem: What to do with an old factory they co-own, despite the ongoing feud?

As Diantha and Lucian team up to find a solution, their chemistry grows harder to ignore, leading to a few (ahem) secret spicy rendezvous at the art museum. While Diantha steps out of her comfort zone and embraces new experiences, Lucian is on a mission to prove to his father that he’s more than just a pretty face—he's got worth (and his father is the worst, so we are definitely rooting for Lucian here).

At the start, Diantha is the quiet, responsible one, while Lucian is the wild playboy. But as they spend more time together, they meet somewhere in the middle, bringing out the best in each other as they each discover new sides of themselves.

Without giving too much away, let’s just say Diantha and Lucian end up saving the factory by investing in a lifejacket production business. The backstory behind the lifejacket was fascinating, and honestly, I wish Frampton had dived deeper into its history – the design, production, and the world of seafaring work was a goldmine for a history nerd like me!

Frampton doesn't shy away from the sizzle (check out my jalapeno score for this book below!), so if you like a breezy read with some pretty substantive canoodling on the page, this is the book for you.

That said, the scene in the sarcophagus (yes, really) was a bit of a tough sell for me—coffins aren’t exactly my idea of a romantic setting. But hey, to each their own!

I also really enjoyed how Diantha was an outspoken woman who became unafraid to speak up for what she wanted. Lucian is a real stud in that regard, too -- he worships Diantha and encourages her to vocalize and take what she wants (both in and out of the sarcophagus).

Frampton’s writing is easy to digest and engaging, with plenty of witty dialogue, which, in my opinion, is essential for a great romance.

You'll Love This Book If:

You enjoy light romance with low stakes

You're feeling anxious about the state of the world and want to escape for a few hours

You love a reformed cinnamon roll rake (think: Anthony Bridgerton)

This was actually such a fun book!

Lucian and Diantha are such opposites- she likes order and predictability, he likes doing what makes him happy. Interestingly enough, it seems each would fit in to the others family perfectly. Their fathers are old rivals, but now they have to decide what to do with a jointly owned factory… and they decide their children can figure it out.

Lucian and Diantha are thrown together trying to decide what to produce at this factory but they are also falling for one another after another stolen kiss at a wedding.

I loved their chemistry and how they were just trying to “get it out of their systems”. It felt so believable and like something people do today. I was rooting for them from the start. I also very much enjoyed Diantha’s family- they seemed like they would be so fun. The business proposals were also absolutely hilarious.

Why they kept making out at the British Museum to cleanse their system is ridiculous but also very cute and fun. They could have been caught but that didn’t stop them from a failed second time and an explosive third time. This was my first time reading Megan Frampton and I very much enjoyed these silly opposites attract characters.

A historical romance that did have some fun witty banter going on.
The main characters were….just ok. Neither Diantha nor Lucian caught my interest.
Overall, The Devil’s Charm was a slow burn historical romance that was a ok read.

Super cute and fairly lighthearted read here. Total opposites, Diantha and Lucien meet at a ball and have instant sparks. Too bad their parents hate each other. And then they both get thrown together to work on an issue of a co-owned factory, and they’ve got to spend more time with the person their crushing on, even though it’s ill-advised. This book gets points for having the fun-loving and reportedly rakish Lucien falling first and hard. He even impresses Diantha by acknowledging her intelligence and asking her thoughtful questions. I loved how supportive Diantha’s wacky family is of her, even though they’re a bit chaotic. Overall, a fun book to read.

I've enjoyed Megan Frampton's fun stories in the past and this book was no exception. Lucian was a second son who was busily enjoying his life. Diantha was always prim and proper. Neither one of them took after their fathers. Lucian's father was strait-laced whereas Diantha's father was basically insane. Of course, the two fathers are bitter enemies. What better way to set the stage for a romance?
Diantha and Lucien end up being forced to work together and needing to fight their growing attraction. This story was cute and lots of fun. The happy ending might not exactly have been realistic, but it certainly was entertaining.
I received a free ARC from NetGalley and this is my honest review.

Notorious charmer Lord Lucian is unexpectedly captivated by proper Lady Diantha, daughter of his family’s enemy. A shared project forces them together, challenging Diantha’s composure and igniting a forbidden attraction.

This is a fun and romantic story. I love the chemistry between Lucian and Diantha. The audiobook narration was entertaining.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
