ARC obtained through NetGalley - thank you to the author's and the publishers for allowing me to read this book.

Wicked Pursuit:
Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Oh my goodness, now Katee Roberts is one of my favourite authors so when I see this on netgalley, I snatched this up right away.

Wicked pursuit is little red riding remix - a mob princess with a taste for doing things she shouldn't acquires a stalker who will kill anyone who touches what's his. Now this little short story blew me away, I loved it from the beginning, there's a plot twist that I did not see coming! If you liked Haunting Adeline then this little short story is for you.

There's stalking, mafia lifestyle and kink play....

Divine Intervention:
Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Now I did struggle a little bit with this one probably because I jumped straight from Wick Pursuit into this but I did enjoy it nonetheless. There's a lot of world building which wasn't my favourite but I loved the storyline with heaven and hell and games.

This one is a goldilocks re-telling with angels & demons and forbidden love.

I do feel like this short story would of been better as an actual full length book.

But I would recommend both of these books if your in a reading slump or just want to read a short story!

I have been eagerly awaiting the release of the Black Rose Auction collaborative series as it has many of my favourite authors, but, OH MY GOD! I was not expecting to love these as much as I did! Thank you so so much for this ARC opportunity I had an absolute blast reading these. And I desperately need this book for my shelf. Can’t wait to get my hands on the other stories because this series is so much fun. I also had the chance to read Shattered Innocence (Cinderella remix) from the series.

Katee Robert came out Sa-wiiiiing-in and knocked it out of the park with Wicked Pursuit. This might be my favourite one by her yet. A second gen spin off of the Wicked Villians series. I am OBSESSED with Red and Wolf. A dark fairytale remix of Little Red Riding. Stalker romance. Mob Princess. Masked man. Twists. Safe space for k!nk exploration. I really enjoyed every minute of this. It is so well written, I loved the full story arc and now want to dive into the Wicked Villains series (picked up Desperate Measures today)

RM Virtues is a new to me author and I’m so glad I got the opportunity to read their work. I really enjoyed the writing and the third person POV felt smooth. It was cool to see the connection to the other stories but with magic as it’s only been eluded to previously. The PNR take was fun and I always enjoy an angels/demons set up. Goldilocks remix with age gap. It was a little world building heavy for a novella but still super enjoyable. I could see how this could easily be a full length. Overall enjoyable.

Thank you SO much for this opportunity this may be one of my favourite ARC reads yet.

The Black Rose Auction is a place where all sorts of debauchery can occur. Luckily the queen, Katee Robert, is here to start us off on this sexy and fun journey.

Wicked Pursuit was experything I wanted from a Little Red Riding Hood retelling. Katee’s ability to provide a safe place to explore kink and taboo topics allows the reader to explore thought and feelings that may not have arised before. One of my favorite aspects was the usage of safe words within the concept of CNC to further push the importance of consent of any sexual act.

Divine Intervention was a bit more difficult to get into, but I think that would happen to any novel to follow Katee Robert. I was a bit confused by the use of third-person and felt like I would have felt more connected to the characters if it was told in first-person. I did enjoy the the spicier scenes and the way the author uniquely remixed themes from Goldilocks.

I definitely plan to read more of the Black Rose Auction series!

Thank you Sourcebooks and Netgalley for the eARC for review!

Wicked Pursuit is the first title in the Black Rose Auction, novella one is written by Katee Robert.

*Red vs. The Wolf
*Secret Identity
*Second Gen characters

This is absolutely one of the spiciest novella’s I have ever read, from page one to the very end!! Would not expect anything less from Katee Robert! 😍

Divine Intervention is the second novella in the Black Rose Auction series, this title is written by

*Goldilocks x Papa Bear
*Angels & Demons
*Forbidden love

This is my first book by this author, and I enjoyed the Goldilocks theme and the spicy scenes with “Papa Bear.”

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the opportunity to read and review this title.

Little Red & the big bad wolf retelling - but put us back into Katee Robert’s carver city. This appears to be the grown children of the fairytale characters in previous KR books. Add in the mafia and a human auction. This was fast paced, loads of smut and a bit dark. Would recommend.

Wicked Pursuit — Red Riding Hood but make it a stalker romance. This book was so, so good. It had me hooked from the very beginning with Ruby making some interesting choices to break free from her boring life. I love how she enjoyed toeing the line just to see how far she could push it. Additionally, the chemistry between Ruby and Wolf was intense. They played off each other so well and to say I was shocked by the Wolf revelation would be an understatement. I combo read this via ebook and audiobook, and both formats were so good. Less Lamb and Jack Calihan did so well at bringing the intensity to their roles. It really helped see Ruby’s character and the chemistry Ruby and Wolf had during the story. Overall, this was a great opening installment to the collection, and I can’t wait to read the others.
Overall rating: 5⭐️

Divine Intervention is the second book in the Black Rose Auction collection. This installment features Angels, Demons, and witches all wrapped up in a Goldilocks retelling. I thought Virtues writing and writing style was incredibly good. I really enjoyed the spin of the feud between Heaven and Hell as well as the lore that features in Divine Intervention. However, I feel this would’ve been better as a full length novel. I wanted to know so much more about the feud and the characters, as well as the fallout from Anthony’s decisions. Not getting to spend a while in Hell with the MC’s also felt let like a missed opportunity. I also couldn’t handle “papa bear” and “just right” - they pulled me out of the scenes. In the context of the retelling, the terms make sense. It just wasn’t something I enjoyed. Overall, I’d be interested in continuing to read if this was expanded into a full length novel to get more of the world building and characters that I enjoyed.

Below is my rating and revie for each story separately.

Wicked Pursuit by Katee Roberts = 4.5 stars
I have always loved Little Red Riding hood retellings, couldn't tell you why, I just do. I think this has become one of my favorite dark retellings.

I loved that we got to experience some second generation from the Wicked Villains series. Belle's daughter was a hit. We got some serious twists and turns in this book and I am not just talking about the smutty scenes.
I loved how this book really played with the stalker trope in a new light and that it was fast & HIGHLY addictive.

Divine Intervention by R.M. Virtues = 3.25 stars
Interesting to see some official magic in the world. This story world is shared by Dark Olympus & Carver city and while it is hinted at, we never see actual magic until now.

A twisted take on Goldilocks and the 3 bears we get a mixture of angels, demons and magic creature in a heist game for good and evil and the sexual games played between the characters.
loved the magic elements and the smut scenes because I am all for sharing is caring in books!

It was very heavy on some lore that at the speed it flowed and with how short the book is, that was a lot and took me a while to get into the story because we had some heavy setup,

Evidently filling the book with sex to make up for the lack of a plot still works, but this story is really little, perhaps because it is the first in a new series....and that's as far as Kathee Roberts is concerned.
The second novel is poorly written, chaotic, and moreover would really need some good editing to salvage what can be saved. I did not like it at all.

I received from the Publisher a complimentary digital advanced review copy of the book in exchange for a honest review.

Wicked Pursuit:
I'm not normally a stalker romance girl but damn clearly I've been missing out because this was fantastic!!! I adored the OG villains series and it was so fun to see how the daughter of some of my favorite characters is doing. As always, Katee Robert masterfully blends intense kink exploration with in-depth emotional development. I fell hard for the characters and I loved the stakes of this story. I would have loved to see her and Wolf figure out their dynamic in a longer story. Maybe an extended epilogue is to come who knows? Either way I will definitely be reading more in this series.

Divine Intervention:
I adored the first book in this collection but I found that Divine Intervention got too bogged down with worldbuilding for a novella. There was a lot of politics and plot going on that I got confused about. I also didn't completely understand this angel/demon world. I did enjoy the relationship dynamics though. I would have loved to see them get more development.

A masterpiece, honestly I can't get enough of the writing, add in the playlist and the use of footnotes, I think it should be a mandatory addition to ebooks!

This review is only for Wicked Pursuit by Katee Robert.
Actual rating 3.75 ⭐️

What I always loved about Katee Robert and will continue to love forever is how easy her books are to read.
I loved Ruby and the MMC and I enjoyed so much how this book was written. I really wasn't expecting that twist at the end so I was pleasantly surprised.
As all of Katee's other books this one was soooo smutty and sooo good.
I loved the mafia lore but the end was a little to quickly done. I really wanted to know what happens with the Bellamontes and the other family and of course with Rose's friend and the other side characters.

Straightforward joyful smut. Both entries deliver on promised vibe. You have to be in the headspace for these stories, but if you are, delightful.

4 ⭐️ for Wicked Pursuit
2 ⭐️ for Divine Intervention

Wicked Pursuit is a dark reimagining of Red Riding Hood. Quick novella about Red who is a mafia princess and Wolf who is stalking her and killing anyone she hooks up with. Slightly reminded me of Haunting Adeline because of that but there’s a lots of unique aspects to this story to separate the two. The plot twists in this book really made it for me. There’s a TON of smut but I didn’t see the plot twists coming.

Divine Intervention is a dark Goldilocks remix where they are angels and demons. This book had a unique world that was hard for me to grasp in such a short amount of time. Also there was only a tiny mention of the Black Auction Market. I was expecting a little more ties to the series than that. I wasn't a big fan of the authors writing style. The sex scenes were just as boring as the plot was for me. I wanted to DNF many times but because of the length I decided to continue however I didn't find that it got better.

This is a special edition, and it sure is a special treat reading two stories in one book. Katee's story was my favorite, and I was drawn into the book immediately. RM's took longer for me to grasp. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

Thank you so much for the chance to ARC read this book. I was so excited as Katee Robert is one of my guilty pleasure authors with Neon Gods being a favorite of mine. I want to discuss these parts separately because I feel they both had strengths before jumping into the overall vibes.

For Wicked Pursuit, I genuinely wish this was drawn out more. I really enjoyed the world set up, the lore, the charaters, and the twist with Wolf. The smut was well done (as always), and I really appreciated Robert bringing in subspace and subspace drop. Ruby was an interesting character that I wanted to see fleshed out more. I wish, in reality, both of these were longer sections to this Duel book. I am so invested in Ruby's friends as well.

For Divine Intervention, this is a concept I would have loved a multi-part series of. I feel like the building of this magic system and world needed more page time, and this concept deserved more page time. Tlalli could have easily been a FMC in her own series had Virtue decided to go that route. I feel like the ending was a bit rushed and a bit of a cliffhanger. Overall, I feel like this section of the book suffered the most from the issues I am about to address.

My issue lies with these two books together. I do not feel like there is a connection between them other than the Black Rose Auction and Tlalli mentioning, very briefly, seeing Ruby during the viewing. The worlds the authors built felt very disconnected from each other when it is infact meant to be the same world. I, personally, do not feel footwork was properly put into these two stories to connect them.

To drop a full magic system in Divine Intervention without a set up being done in Wicked Pursuit felt very almost random, especially when Wicker Pursuit also leaves the reader with this sense of "what happens now" between the mafias and heirs. I understand the concept they both were aiming for here and I appreciated the two books separately for what they were, but I would not say they are connected in any other sense than Reaper and the Auction are mentioned. I feel like that situation could have avoided had this been to separate books released together instead of two books in one.

The writing in both of these parts did feel weak as well, but again, I think that's due to this book being so few pages it did not allow either author to fully complete the story. It feels as if they limited themselves in these retellings and did not truly get to explore and build their worlds, especially in Divine Intervention, which I feel has a lot of potential as a romantasy.

Again, I do see what Robert and Virtue were aiming for with the concept of 2 books in one that is going to really appeal to some readers, especially with how beautiful these covers are. I just do not feel this concept was executed as well as it could have been had it been done in two separate books. Overall, I can only give these 3 stars due to how it read together as a whole and the weakness in the overall writing style due to the limitations. Both of these stories have so much potential, though, so I do not want to drop it to lower than 3 stars.

I’m a simple girl. I see Katee Robert’s, I read. Once again she has not let me down. I’ve never read anything by R.M. Virtues before so this was a good chance too.

Two stories in one book: A little red riding hood remix and a goldilocks remix.... Of course it's not the usual fairy tale but a super steamy one. Not for everyone but good for readers who like their books sexy and steamy. A quickie for readers who are in the mood for more steamy reads.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

This read like a wattpad fanfiction. The writing was weak and basic but might work well as a palette cleanser for some people. Not for me unfortunately and had to dnf.
