Jojo Moyes has been a favorite of mine since Me Before You. I was so excited to see that she wrote a new novel. The first part seemed a little slow but she was just setting the stage for the heart of the story. Her characters are a bit quirky but so enjoyable. Lila’s life has been a little rocky since her father Gene left her at 4 years old. He now comes back in her life and boy do the family dynamics change! Her mom has died and she now has both her stepdad and biological dad living with her and her 2 daughters. By no means is Gene the typical dad but has a good heart and helps to heal this fractured family. There is also an ex-husband who lives close by but now has a new wife who has a son and is also pregnant. Families come in all shapes and sizes which is very much on display in this book. Good character growth by all is so important to the story. By the end of the book, I loved them all!! Well done!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the book.

This is my first (but definitely not last) Jojo Moyes read. Lila’s life has been completed upended by her husband Dan’s decision to leave her and their two young daughters, along with the sudden death of her own mother. For the first part of this book, Lila is mostly just full of (justifiable) rage and bitterness towards everyone, but there is a slow stitching together of a new definition of family that is messy, chaotic, and redemptive. It involves a light touch of romance, a lot of forgiveness, and a celebration of friendships and unconventional family dynamics. I most of all loved this cast of characters, young and old—all rebels in their own way—and each one endearing and memorable. Moyes's characters all felt real and relatable to me. I know at least a dozen women who will definitely be able to see their own stories reflected honestly in this lovely book.

Highlights include the hilarious interactions between her shy, quiet, meticulous step-father and her biological dad who has just crashed back into their lives after decades of only occasional contact. And her blunt, potty-mouthed elementary-aged daughter Violet who is a hoot.

Big thanks to Penguin Publishing Group, Jojo Moyes, and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have been a huge fan of JoJo Moyes books ever since I read Me Before You so I always jump at the chance to read any book that she writes. This book was enjoyable, not my favorite by her but I would still recommend it.

Lila is just trying to hold her life together - being left by her husband for a younger woman who is now pregnant is just the icing on the cake. Her stepdad lives with her and one day her real father, a man who hasn't really been part of her life shows up wanting to reconnect. But, she realizes that he is down on his luck and is really just looking for a place to crash.

Add to the mix two gentlemen who have interest in Lila and a looming book deadline that is supposed to be a follow up and is about her journey after divorce and you have a lot of things happening.

The flow of the story, as is the case with all of her books, is great. And I also really enjoyed how the characters were developed. I would highly recommend this story.

This book was just okay for me. It was a pretty slow read, and I had some trouble engaging in the beginning. It does well in exploring dysfunctional family relationship and how they affect many different generations. I did not feel Lila was very likeable at times, so that did detract from the story somewhat. She does redeem herself toward the end.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group for giving me this ARC in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are my own.

After writing a successful book about how fortunate she is in the support from her husband, she's blindsided by
his request for a divorce. Still dealing with her mother's death, she is trying her best to hold it together for her
two daughters. On top of the house falling down around her, her stepfather seems to have moved in, her father
suddenky reappears and she has writer's block. Loved the charaters and story about family, forgiveness and
moving forward,

Lila is a mom of two, divorced, her mom's husband lives with her and her absent dad shows up one day. Her ex husband is going to be a father again with a woman she knows from her neighborhood. And she's trying to write her next book about how great her sex life is as a single mom living it up. It's not. To say she's struggling is putting it mildly. This is the story of how she puts her life back together again when it doesn't seem possible.

I have enjoyed all the books I've read by JoJo Moyes and this is no different. The start was a bit slow for me but by a quarter in I was hooked. She writes about everyday lives so well.

What a touching story of family and who we choose to build a family with. Moyes is one of my favorite authors and she doesn’t disappoint in her latest novel.

This. story of family drama is so good! Fresh and engaging characters of multi generations that you feel connected to them. Mother and daughter relationships were developed and well done. Father's were very interesting too with the different personalities and backgrounds. I didn’t want the story to end. Recommend!

ARC releasing 2/1/25. Lila's life falls apart after her husband leaves her for a fellow mom at their children's school and her step father and biological father move in with her. I originally rated this one higher, but honestly, Lila was really annoying and unlikable. This was readable, but felt like she didn't have a good enough arc.

4.9 Stars

Lila is 42 years old. Her marriage ended. Her mom died. And she now lives with her two daughters (eight and sixteen), her lentil-cooking step-dad and her constantly barking dog in a house that needs a lot of work and money. And then her real dad is suddenly back in her life too after 35 years of almost no contact. And obviously he needs a place to crash for a while. And she's also way behind on her book deadline. Yay. Life is going super great for Lila.
Oh, and there are also two guys suddenly in her life. Is she ready for something new?

I really loved this book. I'm not the biggest Women's Fiction fan, but this was so much more. It was sad and sweet and hopeful and crazy and funny. We get romance and grief and letting go and moving on and ... I just loved reading it. I would so love to see this on TV one day.

WE ALL LIVE HERE was such a beautiful + funny + moving + sad + sweet + crazy family, love and life story. Run to your nearest book dealer for your own copy - it will be sold out asap!

I went back and forth between 3 and 4 stars and would say this is a solid 3.5 rounded to a 4. Overall it is an enjoyable story of a multigenerational non-traditional family. I especially loved the relationship between Gene and Bill! The first half of the book was slow in spots. It definitely picked up the second half. I enjoyed seeing Lila’s growth and transformation through the book. Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Random House for the privilege of reading this ARC!

In no way do I directly resemble the main character’s life except I have two daughters similar in age to the daughters in the book but boy did I feel so deeply connected to Lila. I felt every bit of her feeling lost and overwhelmed and burdened by the emotional and mental load she was carrying for the family. My older daughter went through a very similar situation to what Celie did and my heart broke for her 100 times, she wrote her character so beautifully. The chaos, love, miscommunications of this multigenerational family trying to figure out how to move through grief, challenges, every day stress, finances was so engaging and relatable on so many levels. I loved this book like everything else Jojo Moyes has written, she never lets me down. Thank you Jojo Moyes and Viking for the advanced copy.

This book was so much fun. Best described as "a Hugh Grant movie." Pacing was good, characters were realistic and so well drawn. It was a real pleasure to watch this family evolve. Plot driven, engaging, sometimes funny, sometimes sad. Kept my interest from page 1!

Lila's life is falling apart. Her husband has left her for another mother from their kid's school. Her mother has died and her step-father has moved in with her. Then out of nowhere her real dad who she hasn't seen in many years shows up. Just when she thinks she can't take it anymore, she takes a step back and looks at what she really has, which is a family that looks out for each other.

"We All Live Here" by Jojo Moyes is a beautifully crafted, emotionally resonant novel that will stay with you long after you turn the final page. Moyes' gift for creating rich, multidimensional characters is on full display here, as she brings to life a cast of unforgettable individuals who will capture your heart and imagination.

This is a book that will make you laugh, cry, and feel everything in between. Moyes expertly weaves together moments of humor and heartbreak, creating a story that is both deeply moving and genuinely funny. I found myself getting teary-eyed at one particularly touching scene—a testament to Moyes' ability to craft emotionally authentic moments that never feel manipulative or overdone.

At its core, "We All Live Here" is a celebration of the human experience, with all its joys, sorrows, and quirks. Moyes' writing is a joy to read, and I found myself fully immersed in the world she creates. It's hard to imagine another book this year topping the experience of reading this one.

In short, "We All Live Here" is a must-read for anyone who loves richly drawn characters, emotionally resonant storytelling, and a healthy dose of humor. Moyes has crafted a truly unforgettable novel that will leave you feeling both uplifted and deeply moved.

Thank you to Jojo Moyes, Viking Penguin, and NetGalley for sending me the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Best character development in a long time!

So many great characters! Loved how my feelings shifted throughout the book for characters.

Jensen constantly made me smile ...
"Have you been on many non-dates?" he (Jensen) says. "Because you may want to work on your opening."

Lila has two daughters, one in high school and one in elementary. Two very different fathers (well ... one is a step father). And her husband (that she was just bragging about in her last book) just left her for one of the "school mums". There is a lot of "blended family" going on in this book. And I just loved it. 464 pages and I really wouldn't have wanted it to be any shorter. Guessing that this may be my favorite non-historical fiction novel of 2025 (as the release date is Feb 11, 2025).

Just perfect!

Many many thanks to NetGalley and Pamela Dorman Books for approving my request to read We All Live Here in exchange for an honest review. I will be highly recommending this book (a lot!).

Lila is a giver and in this book she gives all of herself to her family to the point that she is emotionally and physically spent. She feels like her life similar to her house is crumbling around her. She wrote about her marriage which turned out to be a face especially when Dan left her for a woman who unfortunately she has to see during school pickup. As a reader, I can certainly feel empathy for her as she struggles with being so overwhelmed that she often turns to negatively. That is why she has such a hard time forgiving Dan. Gene. She appreciates Bill and his willing to try to help her with Violet and Celie; however, he is set in his ways and routines as evidenced by his meals that he has a hard time embracing change. When Gene enters their life and brings chaos in terms of his larger than life personality and acting background, he wad exactly what this family needed. He created confidence in Celie. He engaged Violet in watching TV together and helped out with her play. He truly loved Francine and what most people seemed to overlook was that he had a huge heart. He wanted Lila to have fun with her life like riding in the car with the top down. Lila struggled but I was happy to see her get her self confidence back. She no longer felt that she was less than especially when she confronted Gabriel. She knew she had another story to write but it wasn't going to hurt people. She realized that Dan wad not right for her. In loving herself again, she let the right person in. She let Jensen in.
