This. story of family drama is so good! Fresh and engaging characters of multi generations that you feel connected to them. Mother and daughter relationships were developed and well done. Father's were very interesting too with the different personalities and backgrounds. I didn’t want the story to end. Recommend!

ARC releasing 2/1/25. Lila's life falls apart after her husband leaves her for a fellow mom at their children's school and her step father and biological father move in with her. I originally rated this one higher, but honestly, Lila was really annoying and unlikable. This was readable, but felt like she didn't have a good enough arc.

Lila is 42 years old. Her marriage ended. Her mom died. And she now lives with her two daughters (eight and sixteen), her lentil-cooking step-dad and her constantly barking dog in a house that needs a lot of work and money. And then her real dad is suddenly back in her life too after 35 years of almost no contact. And obviously he needs a place to crash for a while. And she's also way behind on her book deadline. Yay. Life is going super great for Lila.
Oh, and there are also two guys suddenly in her life. Is she ready for something new?

I really loved this book. I'm not the biggest Women's Fiction fan, but this was so much more. It was sad and sweet and hopeful and crazy and funny. We get romance and grief and letting go and moving on and ... I just loved reading it. I would so love to see this on TV one day.

I went back and forth between 3 and 4 stars and would say this is a solid 3.5 rounded to a 4. Overall it is an enjoyable story of a multigenerational non-traditional family. I especially loved the relationship between Gene and Bill! The first half of the book was slow in spots. It definitely picked up the second half. I enjoyed seeing Lila’s growth and transformation through the book. Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Random House for the privilege of reading this ARC!

In no way do I directly resemble the main character’s life except I have two daughters similar in age to the daughters in the book but boy did I feel so deeply connected to Lila. I felt every bit of her feeling lost and overwhelmed and burdened by the emotional and mental load she was carrying for the family. My older daughter went through a very similar situation to what Celie did and my heart broke for her 100 times, she wrote her character so beautifully. The chaos, love, miscommunications of this multigenerational family trying to figure out how to move through grief, challenges, every day stress, finances was so engaging and relatable on so many levels. I loved this book like everything else Jojo Moyes has written, she never lets me down. Thank you Jojo Moyes and Viking for the advanced copy.

This book was so much fun. Best described as "a Hugh Grant movie." Pacing was good, characters were realistic and so well drawn. It was a real pleasure to watch this family evolve. Plot driven, engaging, sometimes funny, sometimes sad. Kept my interest from page 1!

Best character development in a long time!

So many great characters! Loved how my feelings shifted throughout the book for characters.

Jensen constantly made me smile ...
"Have you been on many non-dates?" he (Jensen) says. "Because you may want to work on your opening."

Lila has two daughters, one in high school and one in elementary. Two very different fathers (well ... one is a step father). And her husband (that she was just bragging about in her last book) just left her for one of the "school mums". There is a lot of "blended family" going on in this book. And I just loved it. 464 pages and I really wouldn't have wanted it to be any shorter. Guessing that this may be my favorite non-historical fiction novel of 2025 (as the release date is Feb 11, 2025).

Just perfect!

Lila is a giver and in this book she gives all of herself to her family to the point that she is emotionally and physically spent. She feels like her life similar to her house is crumbling around her. She wrote about her marriage which turned out to be a face especially when Dan left her for a woman who unfortunately she has to see during school pickup. As a reader, I can certainly feel empathy for her as she struggles with being so overwhelmed that she often turns to negatively. That is why she has such a hard time forgiving Dan. Gene. She appreciates Bill and his willing to try to help her with Violet and Celie; however, he is set in his ways and routines as evidenced by his meals that he has a hard time embracing change. When Gene enters their life and brings chaos in terms of his larger than life personality and acting background, he wad exactly what this family needed. He created confidence in Celie. He engaged Violet in watching TV together and helped out with her play. He truly loved Francine and what most people seemed to overlook was that he had a huge heart. He wanted Lila to have fun with her life like riding in the car with the top down. Lila struggled but I was happy to see her get her self confidence back. She no longer felt that she was less than especially when she confronted Gabriel. She knew she had another story to write but it wasn't going to hurt people. She realized that Dan wad not right for her. In loving herself again, she let the right person in. She let Jensen in.

Jojo Moyes does it again. We All Live Here is a great family story. There are parallel stories: mother and daughter are both going through some stuff. The characters are interesting and likeable, even Marje. The story is engaging, heartbreaking, and redemptive. The ending is satisfying. If you're a fan of Moyes or realistic fiction or stories that tug on the heartstrings, don't miss We All Live Here.

I have loved all of Jojo Moyes' books but this one just didn't do it for me. I didn't feel emotionally connected to any of the characters and the constant switching of viewpoints felt distracting rather than helpful. Looking back, I think that if the absentee father had been introduced in the first 5-10 pages, I would have been more intrigued with the family dynamics and not been so bored. As it was, the beginning of the story dragged on and on with how miserable Lila and her oldest daughter were.

Another good book by Jojo Moyes. We All Live Here is an honest look at the messiness of life but at the good that is present as well. Relatable characters who are flawed but you like them even more for it as they realize their imperfections and work through them. I loved Gene, despite his past, as he works so hard to make up for it. It isn't a fast paced action packed book but it is full of love, forgiveness and hope.

Not as good as some of her other books. A story about familes. Didn't care for a few of the characters. ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for a fair review.

Another hit from one of my favorite authors! Relatable and heart warming. By the end of the book I felt so connected to the characters I didn't want it to end!

You will definitely take Lila and her quirky family into your heart. Lila is an author struggling with her next project following the death of her mother. She must juggle her 2 children, her ex, her stepfather as well as her own father recently returning to her life. The relationships are strained at times yet they capture real life problems and situations in such an endearing way.
Lila is also trying to balance personal relationships in this rollercoaster ride of her life. These characters have found a place in my heart as I am sure they will with you. A must read especially for those of the sandwich generation!

Jojo Moyes never disappoints and her latest is one of my favorites! I loved this heartfelt story with characters and emotions that felt so real. She did an amazing job depicting the challenges that come with fractured family and the emotions each person must go through. Highly recommend!!

Jojo Moys has had my heart for years, the writing is always so beautiful a "We All Live Here" is no exception, it's quirky, wholesome and so heartfelt. These characters are *chef's kiss*

Jojo Moyes is a great story teller of every day life. she is relatable although some of the stories are a little tough to believe but despite that, you read her books and can imagine the screenplay and who will play each of the characters. This book was a bit long but I still enjoyed it and look forward to her next book. Thans for the opportunity to read.
