This was an enjoyable sequel and while I liked the new characters introduced in this book, I just love Reyna and Kianthe. Their next adventure takes them to hunt down the promised dragon egg - but they require the help of many others, including Bobbie and Serina, who are currently pitted against each other and have quite the past.
I know there’s been a lot of talk about this series being mislabeled as “cozy” but between the narrator, the writing, and the rather low stakes (I mean yes, some risk of death is there), it felt cozy to me.
And wow, that epilogue was STEAMY.
Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for an ALC in exchange for my honest review! Absolutely looking forward to book 3.

Kianthe and Reyna are back and they’re engaged! While searching for dragon eggs that have been stolen, new friends are made and we get to know Serina. We are also introduced to Bobbie who has a past with one of these ladies which makes things interesting! Serina is a pirate with the mindset of stealing from the rich to feed the poor.
There are so many fun and cute moments in this book, it always feels like a cozy read! I don’t know that it falls completely into the cozy category since there are times where takes are a bit higher, but to me it’s cozy. I love the characters and all of the fun little quirks, this is such a cute read!
This audiobook was narrated by Jessica Threet. She’s done amazing with this series so far!
Thank you so much to Netgalley, Rebecca Thorne, and Macmillan Audio for providing this free ARC. This is my honest review. This publishes today on October 1st!
I have posted my review on Goodreads, my Facebook book club, and will make a TikTok to post before the pub date raving about this book!

I loved this book! Watching Reyna and Kianthe grow as a couple was really nice, and I loved the new characters. I do wish I got more time with the characters in town, as that’s kind of the charm of a cozy series (to me, anyway). Still, the addition of Bobbie, Serina and the crew was definitely interesting and I loved how the story progressed.
The Story picks up shortly after the first book and major plot points come from there, so this is definitely a series you should read in order. It gave a lot of the same warm, fun vibes as the first book with just more stuff going on. We had drunk shenanigans, pirate shenanigans, sexy schenanigans… all the shenanigans. I am interested to see what book three (Tea You at the Altar, coming out next year) will bring to the table. I would like to see more recurring characters.
The different aspects of the plot- the search for the eggs, the fight against the tyrany of the Diarn, the friends-to-enemies-to-lovers story line between two oposing views… it made for a little bit of chaos, but it was well written and easy to follow. I liked that we had multiple narratives to help us get a better feel for the characters. Bobbie is definitely a favorite of mine. For me, this is a five star book.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Rating: 5 out of 5.
As far as adult content goes, there’s quite a bit more than book one- cursing, drinking, sexual content (mostly allusions to, but one large sex scene at the end that they warn you about- it has nothing to do with the story and can be skipped if you don’t like that. I thought it was well done), and violence. I would say that this is geared towards adults, young adults maybe.
I was lucky enought to recieve an early edition from Netgalley working with Macmillan Audio in exchange for an honest review. My thanks!

A Pirate's Life for Tea is the second book in Rebecca Thorne's Tomes and Tea series. Kianthe and Reyna find themselves involved in another adventure. This time they are on a mission to find dragon eggs to save their town. During this journey they come across a pirate named Serina that is being chased by a very by the book constable, Bobbie. It soon becomes clear that Serina and Bobbie have a past.
I had just as much fun with book two of this series as I did with the first. I was so glad that Kith and Reyna were still a large part of the story. I love their relationship and adventures. Bobbie and Serina were such a great addition. This was a little less cozy than the first book but I personally enjoyed the higher stakes. The story and relationships are so engaging. Jessica Threet is really excellent as the narrator.
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillian Audio for the ALC in exchange for an honest review.

The coziest fantasy series of them all (now with twice the lesbians!) is also the best audio book series ever! So not only do you get the outstanding storytelling from Rebecca Thorne, you get the amazing talent of Jessica Threet acting it out for you in audio.
There are two main stories occurring in A Pirate's Life for Tea (the second book in this series, in case you haven't heard), Kianthe and Reyna are continuing to look for dragon eggs that they found out about in book one and Bobbie and Serina, a constable and a pirate who have their own problems to solve. Both couples participate in each other's stories and their is a delightfully satisfying ending to both stories at the end. I can't wait for book three to be published!!!
Jessica Threet is quickly becoming one of my favorite narrators, her voice acting is top notch and she kept me captivated from the first chapter.
You need to read this book!

I liked the first book in this series so I had high hopes for this book and it definitely lived up to them. I really enjoyed getting to see more of this world that Thorne has created and meeting more characters and creatures. The story was just as fun and the first book. The characters were funny and warm. Even the character that are meant to be villains are cute and just need a hug. Overall this was a fun addition to this series and I really hope we get more.

It’s rare that I like the second book better than the first but I just love this book so much! It was cute, cozy, fun, and full of adventure. I’m a sucker for a HEA and I cannot wait for more. These characters are so lovable and I want a baby griffin 🥰🥰 I would definitely read this again 🥰 It’s a great comfort read.

I wanted to like this one, but it just dragged on and felt way too long. Cozy fantasies have been hit and miss for me and this one sadly is on the ‘miss’ side of things. It sounded adorably fun, swashbuckling, pirates, ships galore, dragon eggs, adventure. But it just didn’t work for me.
I received an ARC, all thoughts in this review are my own.

I think this is a rare case where I would have enjoyed this more if I’d read this book rather than listened to it. It’s a personal preference, but narrators making sound effects (laughing, moaning, etc) always feels awkward to me.
The story itself was cute and I enjoyed spending time with Kianthe and Reyna, and while I missed their cozy bookstore, I did enjoy the hijinks they got up to with Bobbie and Serina.
I’m excited to see where the story goes in the next book!
I received a review copy of the audiobook from Macmillan Audio and NetGalley.

3.5⭐️s rounded up
Another punny, queer (double the lesbians!), and cozy adventure.
Settle in for a light-hearted romp, with more love and more puns.
I loved that there was "One Shot" of spice (right at the end) that you can choose to read or pass on. ❤️
Jessica Threet was a fantastic narrarator.
All characters had their own, distinguishable voice(s). The puns were executed perfectly= cute and dorky.
Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the advanced audiobook!

Sometimes books can be boring after the main couple begin their relationship and you miss out on the pining and the romantic tension. But this book gives the best of both worlds: a continuation of Reyna and Kianthe’s story as well as the tension of a new budding friends to enemies to lovers romance.
I enjoyed getting to see Reyna and Kianthe’s relationship progress and see them both continue to grow. But wish we got more of Bobbie and Serina as well because I just loved their characters.
While I would still consider the tone to overall be cozy it is definitely more high stakes than the previous book. I also found myself missing the charm of Tawney from the first book as well, although I still loved the pirates and seafaring adventures.
Jessica Threet does an amazing job with the audiobook and conveys emotion and accents with ease which only enhanced the experience.
I am definitely invested in where this series goes next and can’t wait to return to this world in book 3.
Thank you to Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for this ALC.

This audiobook was the perfect mix of cozy fantasy and adventure! The story of Kianthe and Reyna continues as they search for dragon eggs and get tangled up with pirates, political intrigue, and even crochet animals. I loved the balance between action and character relationships, which kept the story engaging without losing its warm, wholesome vibe. The side characters were fantastic, and the humor hit all the right notes.
Jessica Threet's narration was top-notch, bringing the story to life in such a vivid way. Her voice work, especially in the more emotional scenes, made the experience even better. If you're into cozy fantasy with a dash of adventure, this is definitely a series worth diving into!

3 out of 5 Stars
It was okay but much like the it predecessor, Can't Spell Treason With Out Tea, it didn't have the right cozy vibes.

The dedication alone did it for me.
This is by far my favorite sapphic cozy series. The book has some action as expected from a pirate romance but mainly focuses on the characters and their relationships. The perfect pallet cleanser this fall!

Jessica Threet did such a fabulous job with book 1 that when the ARC for book 2 was available I jumped at the chance for the audiobook because reading with my eyes would not do this book justice. Just like in the first book, she made this story come alive with her amazing narration. I loved everything about her narration style and when she narrated the bonus spicy scene I melted in my spot. She is definitely one of my top 5 favorite female narrators and I could listen to her read anything.
As far as the book, Rebecca has done it again by giving us an adorably cozy story while maintaining enough adventure that I was on the edge of my seat. I loved it so much and her story telling style really pulls you in.
I adored the established relationship and how we saw it ebb and flow. There was wonderful use of communication throughout which is so refreshing to see in books. All of the side characters were again really developed and I loved hearing about everyone's lives.
The dynamics at play with boss/employee and mother/daughter relationships were crafted really well. The humor and wit was exactly where it needed to be at every opportunity.
I am normally a dark and morally grey girlie but I found myself immersed in this cozy world with its cozy people living their small town lives. It has such a positive vibe with so much "feel good" energy that you just want to crawl between the pages of the book and become a part of their found family too.

I am captivated by "A Pirate's Life for Tea!" Kianthe continues her quest for the dragon eggs, while Reyna takes on the role of matchmaker and trains Ponder with Visk's guidance. The story is filled with pirates, thrilling adventures, near-death experiences, and all of the cozy feelings. Book two has successfully recaptured the enchanting essence of the first book. Personally, I found this book even more enjoyable than the first and I am eagerly anticipating the release of the third installment.
I love the narrator, Jessica Threet. She adds to the story with her amazing abilities!
Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the chance to listen to this ARC for my honest review.

This was such a full follow up to "Can't Spell Treason Without Tea." Kianthe and Reyna have hit the road, in a quest to find the missing dragon eggs and protect their new home town. During their journey they find themselves caught up looking for a pirate, Serina, who has been attacking one of the towns Kianthe and Reyna are led to in their search.
But is she really all that dastardly? As they look deeper, having exchanged their services tracking down the pirate for information, they discover the pirate may not be the villain here after all...
Loved all the scenes with baby Griffin Ponder and her beleaguered father, Visk. Parenthood is hard!

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Tor for the Audio ARC!
Narration and production: Jessica Threet can't be beat with this masterful feat of narration!
Rebecca Thorne does it again with another amazing (somewhat) cozy addition to Key and Rain's story! I say "somewhat" because this sequel definitely had my heart going and my tear-ducts working harder than the first, but the wholesome moments within definitely still make it cozy.
I seriously can't say enough about how much I love these characters and the unique and fun adventures they end up going on. This book has it all - pirates, romance, dragons, griffons, magic, near-death experiences, tea, BOOKS!....it's the perfect combination of all things fantasy and escapism.
If you're a fan of fantasy, especially cozy fantasy, pick up this series now. It's worth the time!!

Very excited about this one!!! Book number 2 of the Tomes & Tea series. I do think I enjoyed this one more than the first (Can't Spell Treason Without Tea) mostly cause I adore anything that has to do with Pirates.
We kick off essentially where book one left off (aka make sure to check out my review for book one!) with the hunt for the dragon eggs, bringing them to the Nacean River where they team up with some fun characters.
I don't think this one is as cozy as the first book since there's a lot more action which I really liked. I loved having one of our characters' crocheting as a stress relief, it was a fun cozy little addition. Honestly all our characters are great, each have very fun and different personalities which makes it a fun dynamic. The audiobook was great! Jessica Threet puts a lot of personality in each character's voices!
I can't wait for book 3!

I read A Pirate's Life for Tea with high hopes. "Can't Spell Treason Without Tea" was good but I was crossing my fingers that this book would benefit from editing and experience.
However, there was too much going on to really stick the landing. Dragon eggs, pirates, corruption, unrequited love...too many threads for me to feel like I truly had an attachment to any of them. I wanted less of Kianthe and Reyna, and more of Serina and Bobby. At the beginning of the book, while trying to "catch" Serina drug on, I couldn't figure out why anyone was doing what they were doing. Also, did Kianthe and Reyna need to refer to each other only as fiance and not use their names? It got a little repetitive.
Lastly, the narrator was trying too hard. The vocal effects of talking with their mouth full or laughing distract from the story instead of adding to it. And I couldn't understand some of the accent choices for characters.
