I am captivated by "A Pirate's Life for Tea!" Kianthe continues her quest for the dragon eggs, while Reyna takes on the role of matchmaker and trains Ponder with Visk's guidance. The story is filled with pirates, thrilling adventures, near-death experiences, and all of the cozy feelings. Book two has successfully recaptured the enchanting essence of the first book. Personally, I found this book even more enjoyable than the first and I am eagerly anticipating the release of the third installment.

I love the narrator, Jessica Threet. She adds to the story with her amazing abilities!

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the chance to listen to this ARC for my honest review.

This was such a full follow up to "Can't Spell Treason Without Tea." Kianthe and Reyna have hit the road, in a quest to find the missing dragon eggs and protect their new home town. During their journey they find themselves caught up looking for a pirate, Serina, who has been attacking one of the towns Kianthe and Reyna are led to in their search.
But is she really all that dastardly? As they look deeper, having exchanged their services tracking down the pirate for information, they discover the pirate may not be the villain here after all...

Loved all the scenes with baby Griffin Ponder and her beleaguered father, Visk. Parenthood is hard!

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Tor for the Audio ARC!

Narration and production: Jessica Threet can't be beat with this masterful feat of narration!

Rebecca Thorne does it again with another amazing (somewhat) cozy addition to Key and Rain's story! I say "somewhat" because this sequel definitely had my heart going and my tear-ducts working harder than the first, but the wholesome moments within definitely still make it cozy.

I seriously can't say enough about how much I love these characters and the unique and fun adventures they end up going on. This book has it all - pirates, romance, dragons, griffons, magic, near-death experiences, tea, BOOKS!....it's the perfect combination of all things fantasy and escapism.

If you're a fan of fantasy, especially cozy fantasy, pick up this series now. It's worth the time!!

Very excited about this one!!! Book number 2 of the Tomes & Tea series. I do think I enjoyed this one more than the first (Can't Spell Treason Without Tea) mostly cause I adore anything that has to do with Pirates.

We kick off essentially where book one left off (aka make sure to check out my review for book one!) with the hunt for the dragon eggs, bringing them to the Nacean River where they team up with some fun characters.

I don't think this one is as cozy as the first book since there's a lot more action which I really liked. I loved having one of our characters' crocheting as a stress relief, it was a fun cozy little addition. Honestly all our characters are great, each have very fun and different personalities which makes it a fun dynamic. The audiobook was great! Jessica Threet puts a lot of personality in each character's voices!

I can't wait for book 3!

I read A Pirate's Life for Tea with high hopes. "Can't Spell Treason Without Tea" was good but I was crossing my fingers that this book would benefit from editing and experience.

However, there was too much going on to really stick the landing. Dragon eggs, pirates, corruption, unrequited love...too many threads for me to feel like I truly had an attachment to any of them. I wanted less of Kianthe and Reyna, and more of Serina and Bobby. At the beginning of the book, while trying to "catch" Serina drug on, I couldn't figure out why anyone was doing what they were doing. Also, did Kianthe and Reyna need to refer to each other only as fiance and not use their names? It got a little repetitive.

Lastly, the narrator was trying too hard. The vocal effects of talking with their mouth full or laughing distract from the story instead of adding to it. And I couldn't understand some of the accent choices for characters.

I absolutely loved this book!!! This is the second book in the series and I could not put it down. I would recommend reading the series in order as the second picked up shortly after the first book ends. This series is a wonderful cosy fantasy with great LGBTQ+ representation. The pacing of the book was perfect, I was engaged throughout the book. The character development was good and the characters were lovable. I can't wait for the next book. If you are looking for a cozy fantasy with LGBTQ+ representation then this is the book for you!

A cute addition to the world of the first book! It definitely needs to be read as a straight-up sequel. It’s been a while since I read Can’t Spell Treason and I wish I had reread it since I forgot about a lot of the side characters. Still was a fun read though, and the focus is mostly on the two MCs from the first book, with some cute secondary relationships as well. An excellent audiobook.

🌈Queer Rep: Main FF relationship. Secondary FF relationships, nonbinary characters.

A Pirate's Life for Tea is the sequel to Can't Spell Treason without Tea in which Kianthe and Reyna continue hunting dragon eggs and get dragged into adventure with pirates, political intrigue and crochet animals... yes you read that correctly.

Kianthe and Reyna find themselves in a deal with Diarn Arlon in which they agree to capture Serina, a pirate who has been causing him some trouble, in exchange for information that could lead them towards the dragon eggs. With the help of Bobbie, a constable and childhood friend of Serina, the pair quickly find themselves entangled in the affairs of the residents as they realise there may be issues with how Diarn Arlon is running things.

This book was much more of an adventure than book, but still with some slice-of-life elements. I was so glad that the personality of the characters was the same and we still had all of the puns! I think Kianthe and Reyna are such great characters to read about with their own distinct personalities and seeing them more in this books was amazing! It was the perfect balance of cosy fantasy, humour and adventure. I love how this series has higher stakes than typical cosy fantasy, but still feels so wholesome and cosy.

I can't wait for book 3 in this series!

Thank you to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for this ALC.

A Pirate's Life for Tea is the delightful sequel to Rebecca Thorne's Can't Spell Treason Without Tea. This book brings back the magic of the first book and introduces some new characters that are adorable and loveable. We pick up right where we left off in Can't Spell Treason Without Tea and Thorne wastes no time diving into some action. With just as many puns as the first book, pirates, adorable crochet projects, books, and a spicy bonus chapter that's hot as hell you're bound to love this book as much as I did.

Kianthe and Reyna are back in the next Tomes & Tea Cozy Fantasies and this time they are exploring the open waters. The search for the dragon eggs has brought them to Nacean River and to Diarn Arlon's estate. In exchange for information on shipping manifests that might bring them closer to the dragon's eggs, Kianthe and Reyna must find a pirate that has been stealing wheat and grains. The couple joins forces with Bobbie, one of Arlon's constables and childhood friend of the pirate, Serina. The group soon finds out there is more to Serina being a pirate and finds them in a pirate's adventure.

This series has been one of my favorite romantasy series of the year. Although I did not enjoy this book as much as the first book, it did bring a lot of growth between Kiantha and Reyna as well as bring in new characters I am sure we will see again. I loved the audio for this series. The narrator was the same as in book one and felt that she was fantastic. Overall, I highly recommend this series, and I am excited for book three to come out next year.

A Pirate's Life for Tea is out October 1st.

Thank you to NetGalley and MacMillan Audio for the opportunity to review the opportunity to review a Pirate's Life for Tea. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Tomes and tea is one of my all-time favorite cozy series! I absolutely adore the first book and I'm so excited to continue on with Kianthe and Reyna's journey. This book brings the same cozy and beautiful atmosphere of the first book with even more fantasy elements and sapphic romance. With the addition of pirates lords and magical dragon eggs, this book was shaping up to be an absolute hit for me. With the perfect amount of stakes, this is my ideal type of cozy fantasy.
Kianthe and Reyna are such an amazing couple and I really love getting to see their development throughout the books. The addition of Serena and Bobbie was extremely well done. They really flowed into the story and we're extremely good compliments to Kianthe and Reyna. Overall there was a perfect blend of sweet romance with a little bit of spice and tons of adventure.

Rebecca Thorne has done it again. A Pirate's Life for Tea, expertly narrated by Jessica Threet, is a delightfully cozy tale of swashbuckling adventure and daring-do. The sequel to Can't Spell Treason Without Tea follows Kianthe and Reyna as they search for the missing dragon eggs and find themselves caught up in piracy. We are introduced to a wealth of charming new characters: the rogue pirate Serina and her crew, constable Bobbie, various denizens of the Nacean River, and of course, the dread pirate Dregs. There's more adventure and some higher, more serious stakes for our characters this time around, but they still find time for tea and silly puns.

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillian Audio for an advanced copy of this book. Can't wait to read the next one!

I was gifted an audiobook ARC of this book through Netgalley. I voluntarily read it and am leaving an honest review.

I loved this book! The audiobook has FANTASTIC NARRATION. I could listen to this narrator all day. Jessica Threet portrays the characters perfectly.

I loved this book just as much as the first one (which is to say A LOT). I love Rebecca Thorne's writing and these characters so much

I love the idea of a cozy pirate adventure but for me this didn’t quite hit the mark. I had a good time reading but I felt like there were so many things introduced that nothing was explored thoroughly. I missed the cozy bookshop and small town feels from the first book, and even though this was a good addition to the series it wasn’t my favourite. I would have liked it a little more of the pirate side of things and of course every problem was easily resolved so again we didn’t really get into anything fully. I’ll probably still continue with the series because this is a nice palate cleanser but not something I’ll go out of my way for

Thanks to Netgalley, Rebecca Thorne and Macmillan Audio for this ALC

Back with even more puns! I absolutely loved this one! The relationship between Kianthe and Reyna is fantastic, and the story has a heightened sense of excitement. The new characters are a delight, and there’s an empowering display of badass women throughout.

The narrator is exceptional—she masterfully shifts her cadence and tone for each character, creating a mood that perfectly compliments the story. Her voice is so engaging and pleasant to listen to.

And wow, that surprise spicy bonus chapter caught me off guard but it was gooooood.

Thank you NetGalley, MacMillan Audio, and Rebecca Thorne for the audiobook arc!

Kianthe and Reyna are back in action in this sequel to Can’t Spell Treason Without Tea. They are searching for stolen dragon eggs when they find themselves dealing with Serina, a pirate who steals grains from the lord of the Nacean River to redistribute to others who need them. Kianthe and Reyna join forces with constable Bobbie, to find the pirate - except Bobbie is Serina’s childhood friend and they both are harboring secret feelings for each other!

I loved the cozy vibes in this story. Kianthe and Reyna are such fun characters and the wordplay and puns make me giggle. I loved the sweet romance throughout the book and thought there was just the right amount of magic included. The low stakes were still adventurous enough to be engaging and kept me immersed in the story. I would have loved for Serina and Bobbie’s POVs had been included, but that didn’t detract from the overall story at all. I’m crossing my fingers that the next story is set back in Tawney. While I enjoyed the pirate adventure, Tawney feels extra charming and magical to me.

I listened to the audio which was really well done. The narrator, Jessica Threet, did a great job giving each character a distinct voice. The cozy vibes of the story were truly brought to life!

Thank you to Bramble Romance, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for the advance copies.

I really enjoyed this book! The first book in the series was good, but this one was great. The adventure was cozy but still active and kept my attention, and I loved all of the different characters and relationships that this book followed. It felt fresh and interesting and engaging and I can’t wait for the next book!

I listened to the audiobook of this and thought the narrator did a great job.

Thank you Macmillan Audio and NetGalley for the ALC/ACR of this book!

Do y'all buddy read? It gets difficult when you and the person you try read with are in different timezones and are both just a tiny bit competitive, @planwithemm yes I'm talking about you. But good suggestion, "A Pirate's Life for Tea" by Rebecca Thorne, like many forms of media, made me consider piracy as a vehicle for the redistribution of wealth.

Kianthe and Reyna need to find those dragon eggs. Unfortunately, their leads took them to a river lord who needs a favor. Catch a river pirate who is interfering with his interests and he can check some ledgers for them. They join with a local constable, Bobbie (yes I got the joke), who has some insight into the Pirate's thought process, they kinda know each other. Not complicated at all.

Narrated by Jessica Threet, this sounded like a blast for you to narrate.

Reasons to read:
-Piracy
-Food that just sounded delightful, thankfully was getting groceries at this part
-Banter
-Spice in the extra part...
-A Dread Pirate
-Stop making me want to open a bookstore!

Cons:
-Why does the spice always start when I'm running errands?!?!
