I read the self-pub version of the first book, but decided to do audio for this sequel.
The audio is sooooooo much better. This is the definitive way to read it. In the first book I found the characters kind of stiff and annoying, but I think the narrator removed that for me and made the story much more engaging.

A Pirate’s Life for Tea, book 2 in the Tomes and Tea series by Rebecca Thorne, follows Kianthe and Reyna, along with their new friends, Serina and Bobbie, on a pirate adventure. This cozy fantasy is so fun and heartwarming. I listened to the audio and thoroughly enjoyed Jessica Threet’s narration as well. Full 5⭐️ for me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

A Wonderfully Fantastic audiobook that just can't be beat! a brilliant story with fantastic voice acting, and perfect narration from start to finish! with the same narrator as the first book, and a continuation of an epic story with all the best characters, and a bunch of even better ones, you simply must read this series! with double the puns, (and double the lesbians) this sapphic high seas adventure is going to be a fantastic listen, and read, or even both! i certainly intend to listen to it over and over and over again!
follow Kianthe and Reyna as they go on their journey to find the dragon eggs... and get absolutely and completely distracted by the two women who are supposed to hate each other, but absolutely do not. one, is a deceptive pirate stealing food to save the people. the other is a constable who will do anything to stop her... problem is, they are both head over heals in love with each other, refuse to admit it, and have a very long history to boot. well, matchmaking might not be on the official list for an arcandors duties, buuuut... unnoficially? Kianthe is totally, TOTALLY the best at it. totally.

Overall,
A truly swash buckling tale filled with fun and and adventure! Kianthe and Reyna return as they hunt for some [redacted for spoiler from first book]! In that process we meet two new characters who are not quiet enemies, but have a lot of animosity and history to work out. We got so many pirates and so many pirate puns! I truly had a grand time with this book and can't wait for the next installment of the Tomes & Tea Cozy fantasy. I do recommend that it is necessary to pick up the first book in this series "You Can't Spell Treason without Tea" before going in or you will be pretty lost. Great for lovers of any fantasy type, LGBTQ+ rep and found family.

Oh it’s a Pirates Life for Tea…I loved this book. From the love story of our two intrepid heroes, to the two new dynamic characters. If you enjoyed the first one you will enjoy this one. It’s a cozy romance with some action and a scooch of spice and many puns. I can’t wait for the third book!

A Pirate’s Life for Tea is the second book in the Tomes and Tea series. While it still falls in the cozy category, I felt that this one pushed the boundaries of the cozy genre more than the first with the increased action. I did love that this installment gave us a new couple to root for while introducing some truly fabulous pirates. The characters alone are enough for me to recommend this book. I love that Reyna and Kianthe create lasting friendships wherever they go. Much like the first book, A Pirate’s Life for Tea also had excellent banter and puns. The main issue I had with this one was that it felt longer than necessary resulting in the story dragging at certain points. I combo eyeball and audiobook read this one. I will say I found myself gravitating more towards the audiobook because Jessica Threet’s narration is so good. Threet adds to the overall cozy vibe while simultaneously delivering puns for maximum enjoyment. Overall, I would highly recommend this book/series, and I can’t wait for the next one.

I adored this story just as much as I adored it when it was first indie published. I will say I did notice the chapter starts in each chapter were much louder than the first books narration which did tend to hurt my ears a little bit. The first book it was still cheery sound but had the subtleness to it book two's feels cheery but in exclaim. I don't know if it was intential, but as a reader with more sensitive ears it did make the listening experience not as great.
Still a phenomal story.
