After losing the love of his life, Dr. Dresden Xavier decides it is time a for a change and moves his family back to his hometown and embarks on a clinical research project. Dresden feels he will never experience the love he once had until a business meeting when he encounters Professor Harper Kingsley. Feelings he thought were dormant, explode and Dresden is tongue-tied when in the beautiful professor’s presence. Harper is just as affected by her instance attraction to Dresden, but she feels she has too much on her plate to entertain a relationship. As the two work on the clinical trials, the attraction grows as the pair interact and learn more about each other. They are drawn to each other through shared losses but try to fight the attraction. As the saying goes, the heart knows what it wants, however Dresden and Harper must fight their grief and open their hearts to another chance at love.
This was my first time reading Robbi Renee’s work and I was thoroughly enthralled with the storyline and the character development. Ms. Renee does a great job setting the scene and weaving a tale of loss and trying to step out and take a chance on love again. Dresden was man who loved hard and, in his words, knew “only one way to do it”. He was portrayed as a man of integrity and a renowned physician. His heart knew Harper before his head caught up. Harper has always been a survivor and independent. She had the personality type of when she needed something and people failed to come through for her, she would figure it out. She felt she was not “seen.” As she works with Dresden and gets to know him more, she realizes he “sees her” This story will take readers through various emotions, and certain scenes will brings tears.
This is a story of healing, bereavement, comfort, and forgiveness. Most of all, seeing two people who have lost love ones find their way to each other and experience a love of their own. Overall, I enjoyed Somebody’s Husband.

Robbi Renee strikes again! This book was amazing. The way grief was handled and finding love after!! This story will definitely bring out some tears but it will also put your heart back together again.

Somebody’s Husband by Robbi Reneé is a poignant tale of love, loss, grief, and healing that captures the complexities of human emotions with exquisite care. This unconventional romantic drama seamlessly blends heartbreak with hope, making it an unforgettable read.
The story centers on Dr. Dresden Xavier, a grieving doctor grappling with tragedy, and Harper Kingsley, a nurturing professor fighting to hold her family together amidst secrets and lies. Their partnership on a medical research project becomes the foundation for an unexpected and profound connection that challenges them both to confront their personal struggles.
Dresden and Harper’s emotions are palpable, their struggles deeply relatable, and their decisions refreshingly grounded in reality. This authenticity makes their story feel incredibly personal. As a reader, you don’t just follow their journey—you experience it alongside them. Be prepared for tears; the raw portrayal of grief and resilience hits hard, but these moments are balanced by glimpses of joy and triumph that leave you feeling uplifted.
The third-person narrative style—often a divisive choice—is used to great effect here, providing insights not only into Dresden and Harper’s inner worlds but also into the perspectives of key secondary characters. This enriched storytelling gives the novel depth, adding layers to its central themes of healing and second chances.
While the slow-burn romance builds delicious tension, the pacing sometimes feels overly drawn out. The push-and-pull dynamic between Dresden and Harper could have been interspersed with more individual growth arcs to further round out their characters. However, this doesn’t detract significantly from the overall impact of their journey.
Somebody’s Husband is a deeply emotional and rewarding read that will resonate with anyone who has faced grief, sought redemption, or yearned for a fresh start. It’s not just a romance—it’s a story about the resilience of the human spirit.
Highly recommended for readers who enjoy heartfelt, character-driven dramas. Keep tissues handy—you’ll cry, you’ll laugh, and you’ll leave with a renewed appreciation for the power of love and healing.

Don't miss this one!

This book was great! I loved Somebody’s Wife so I had no idea what to expect with Somebody’s Husband. My goodness! This book had me tearing up from page one! Grief is something!
In Somebody’s Husband, the grieving Dr. Dresden Xavier and Professor Harper Kingsley come together to work on (potential) ground breaking clinical trial. A trial that neither of the thought would connect them in ways that neither of the expected.
“I read somewhere that death is only tragic if you haven’t lived.”

Baby, this book was so good! I couldn’t even put it down Dresden and Harper story was so emotional but so loving and the way he noticed her and his connection from the beginning. I’m literally lost for words

This book was everything I can’t wait til I get the physical copy in my hand. When it comes to Robbi Renee she can do no wrong.

I enjoyed reading this book so much! I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. This was such an emotional book. I couldn't put my kindle down until I finished reading it. Such an amazing book! I would read another book by this author.

Of this was a definite 5 star read!!!
Looking at the title, I thought it was a story of infidelity; how wrong I was. Second chance romance stories are a favorite of mine. I thoroughly enjoyed the wild emotional ride that I was on as I read this book. Dr. Xavier was in a new city, after the death of his spouse, with his children; Finding love was not what he expected.
The message that I walked away with although there are losses in love, that a second chance is possible. Thank you Robbi Renee; you are on my list of favorite authors. I recommend this story to all those that loves love.

Robbie Renee masterfully crafts a mature, emotionally rich romance in *Somebody's Husband*. This story explores the depths of grief, resilience, and the possibility of finding love after profound loss. Dresden’s journey as a widowed father struggling to rebuild his life while navigating the complexities of raising two grieving young adults is deeply poignant. His guilt over his growing feelings for Harper, juxtaposed with his undeniable attraction to her, adds an intense layer of emotional depth to the story.
Harper is a standout character—her unwavering dedication to her family, especially her selfless care for Terrance, showcases her incredible strength and compassion. Her struggles to balance her family obligations, career, and personal desires make her a relatable and admirable heroine. Harper and Dresden’s connection feels organic and pure, a testament to how love can provide healing and hope even in the face of overwhelming loss.
The narrative beautifully captures the challenges of moving forward while honoring the past. Dresden’s internal battle with guilt and his desire for happiness with Harper mirrors the real-life struggles of those grieving the loss of a partner. Harper’s character adds layers of inspiration, as her journey is equally one of self-discovery and determination to create a fulfilling life for herself.
While the story occasionally falters with a few inconsistent details, these minor missteps are overshadowed by the raw, heartfelt portrayal of love, grief, and resilience. *Somebody's Husband* is a moving tale for readers who appreciate realistic depictions of life’s hardships and triumphs, coupled with a deeply satisfying romance. It’s a beautifully written story that reminds us of the transformative power of love and the strength it takes to embrace a second chance.

I thought this book was good! I thoroughly enjoyed “Somebody’s Wife” so I couldn’t wait to get into this book. The two stories are definitely different vibes. This story was filled with grief, forgiveness, love and understanding and got me all in my feelings. I’d suggest reading the trigger warnings before jumping in. Professor Kingsley and Dr Xavier pulled on my heart strings for sure and I enjoyed reading their journey.

This book completely destroyed me and put me back together in the best way. Seriously, grab your tissues because this book will have you emotional. This second chance at love romance is everything I didn't know I needed. I appreciated the depths of the story and how it highlighted grief and navigating love after loss. I also like that the story touches on how terminal illness and death impact the family as a whole. These things added to the story but the focus was definitely on our FMC and MMC, the tension between these two could be felt from the beginning and when they finally gave in to each other I was excited and smiling ear-to-ear. The spice in this book was perfect. Dr. Dresden and Professor Harper are one of my new favorite couples. Overall, this was a beautifully written book and I highly recommend it.

Let me start by saying that while I liked this book, it was not what I thought I was going to be getting and there were times where I actually shed some tears because there are some emotional scenes.
Somebody's Husband follows Dr. Dresden Xavier and Dr. Harper Kingsley and how their loss and grief in their lives helps them lean on each other more first as friends and co-workers which develops into something more. When the book starts off we meet Dresden's character in a flashback of how he met his wife and had his daughters but then we also learn how he lost her and is now deciding to move back to his hometown to be closer to family. He is having a hard time believing that he will be able to love again until he meets Harper..
Harper is dealing with her own situation which at first I will admit i was a little confused about but after I continued to read and saw her flashbacks, I got the full picture and understood that she was acting in a friend capacity. I thought it was nice that although the majority of the book was written in present day, it did have some flashbacks to get a glimpse into how the current situations were what they were and it helped develop the story a little more for Dresden and his deceased wife.
While I appreciated getting to hear from and see what their children were up to, at times I felt like it took a little away from Dresden and Harper's story. Overall I enjoyed the book and how it showed that you can have a second chance at love after losing your first love. It makes for a good read but check your triggers because there is a lot of mention of cancer within the book.

I knew after reading Somebody’s Wife that Robbi Renee had a new fan. I loved how well written that story was. When I received this ARC of Somebody’s Husband, I had to read it.
First things first, I loved how Robbi Renee tied the emotions of losing a significant other and finding love after said loss. It was realistic and so thought out. I also love how Dresden and Harper gradually found solace in each other.
This was a well written story from start to finish.

I can honestly say it left me utterly spellbound. From the very first page, I was drawn into a world rich with emotion and authenticity, where the characters felt like old friends grappling with their own struggles and desires. The story follows the intertwining lives of its protagonists, and I found myself deeply invested in their journeys as Renee masterfully captures the intricacies of marriage and the often-unspoken challenges that come with it. What struck me most was how she tackled difficult themes with grace and sensitivity, balancing darker moments with glimmers of hope and redemption that kept me on the edge of my seat. Her vivid descriptions and emotional depth created a rich tapestry that completely immersed me in the narrative, and the pacing was perfect, allowing me to savor moments of reflection while still maintaining a gripping momentum that had me turning pages late into the night. In conclusion, "Somebody's Husband" is a powerful novel that resonates on multiple levels, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who appreciates a beautifully written story about love, loss, and the complexities of the human heart—it's a journey I won’t soon forget!

Thank you to Robbi Renee and Black Odyssey Media for allowing me to read Somebody’s Husband!
Somebody’s Husband was such a good read about finding a new love after grief and loss. Dr Dresden Xavier is moving back to Monroe City to be closer to family after losing his wife Nina to cancer. Dr Xavier is heading a medical research team where he meets Harper Kingsley. Harper who is a caregiver, mother, and professor seeking love and peace in her hectic life. In each other they find peace, happiness, and so much more.
While I did enjoy the story I do feel the title is misleading, especially considering the popular books Somebody’s Wife & Somebody’s Forever. I enjoyed the dual POVs from Dresden and Harper. It gave an insight on what they bother were dealing with individual and how much healing they had to do together. Most of the story seemed to be about that, their actual connection and journey of love seemed rushed in some ways, as well as the ending. Overall this still was an enjoyable story that held my attention and I couldn’t put down. I can appreciate it’s a mature story about adults over 40 and the real life situations of death, grief, healing, and love.

Book Review: Somebody’s Husband by Robbi Renee- 4.5 stars!
Dr. Dresden Xavier and Professor Harper Kinsley were only supposed to be working together on a clinical research assignment. This working relationship transformed to a genuine friendship that evolved into so much more.
Robbie Renee’s execution of this love story shows a second chance romance after the loss of a spouse with both Dresden’s and Harper’s POV. And of course it ends with a happily ever after! I could truly feel the love as it developed in the pages for this book.
My heart is so full after reading such an incredible, powerful romance novel and was ready for the story to continue even after reading the last page.

Forever love. If you are fortunate to experience this in your lifetime, your hope is that it will last a lifetime. What happens when forever doesn’t last, and you are just left with love? Or, when the love looks different than when it began?
Navigating the world after that love can be challenging, especially when you have a lot more life to live, and living without loving isn’t really living at all.
This is the story of Dresden and Harper. Both having lost different types of love and having to live with the effects of those losses.
I loved both main characters individually and rooted for them for a good portion of the book. There were parts I think Dresden could have extended some grace to his daughter, but in the end they worked it out.
I can’t imagine letting go of love you thought would last a lifetime, to embrace what could really be your next lifetime love.
Thank you Black Odyssey Media and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this ARC.

As a Robbi Renee fan, I was thrilled to receive an ARC of Somebody's Husband. The story of Dresden and Harper unfolds as a slow burn, with each character wrestling with personal trauma while navigating life’s challenges. When their paths first cross in a professional setting, there's mutual attraction, but they both try to suppress their feelings.
Over time, Dresden and Harper develop a "working" friendship, all while fighting their attraction. The push and pull between them is palpable, though for me, the prolonged tension felt a bit drawn out. I would have loved to see more individual character development for both Dresden and Harper, which could have enriched the story and balanced the slow burn. Instead, the narrative primarily focuses on their struggle with their feelings, which follows a cycle of resistance until they finally give in.
Overall, Somebody's Husband was an enjoyable read, and I would love to see what lies ahead for Dresden and Harper in a future book.
Thank you to Black Odyssey Media and NetGalley for the ARC of Somebody's Husband!

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and reading all about the handsome Dr Dresden Xavier. It was so sad to see him loose his wife but moving back to his home time helped give him the love and support he needed from his family. Grief is a journey a person had to navigate for the rest of their life. Dr. Xavier's home was full of memories and relics of his late wife. With his wife seeming very present in his home, dating would be tricky. Professor Harper Kingsley would be the woman to test out Dr. Xavier's dating skills. The minute he met Professor Kingsley the first day he met his new team for his trial, I knew he was in for a ride. It seemed the two had sparks immediately. Harper's home life seemed to be rough since she was caring for her ill ex-husband which she was a great woman for that. I felt bad for the ex-husband but also he didn't appreciate Harper when he had her. Folks always realize what they had once they loose them. Now the ex husband was trying to make good and being there for his family even though he knew his time was very limited, but I didn't like that he put Dr. Xavier in jeopardy with his career and trial. It was nice to see how Harper and her ex mad amends in the end so that they both could stop feeling guilty before he transitioned. It was just nice to read this beautiful story of healing and a chance for new love again.

3.5⭐️ 1.5🌶️
Everyone who knows me knows I’m a super fan of Somebody’s Wife. So I was eager to get to this one based off my love for the previous books.
I was glad to be back in Monroe City at our favorite HBCU. The story opened up with familiar places and new faces. Dr. Dresden Xavier and professor Harper Kingsley were beautiful people with caring spirits dealing with the most unimaginable grief someone could experience at their young ages.
This one was heavy and filled with grief.
The internal conflicts Dresden had with his love for Nina, doing what’s right and moral in the cancer center, and his newfound desire for Harper was my favorite part of this story. Harper’s heart was so big and pure. I’m not sure a lot of people could’ve done what she did for her friend.
Together, I loved Dresden and Harper but it was hard for me to connect with them individually. I think I wanted to see more of them individually without their spouses being the center of who they were.
The last 20% of the book was BEAUTIFUL everything we read at 80%, I just wish we started getting that part of the book earlier around 40%. The last few pages left me saying “I wanted to read THAT! Oh, that’s what happened? I would’ve loved to read about it.”
I was thirsty for those stories that we didn’t get to experience. 😞😞
I would still recommend this book and inform readers to check trigger warnings because it is a very heavy topic.
Thank you Black Odyssey Media and NetGalley for the ARC copy in exchange for my honest review.
