This book is a fucking masterpiece. Guerrero understands cats and cat people purr-fectly. Every single POV is thoughtful and distinct. I fucking cried. This may be my new favorite book.

Cat's People had the cozy vibes that I needed in this season. I love a good found family book and, as a cat mom, I know the beautiful impact a kitty can have on a community.

I adored this book! Five people in Brooklyn, all trying to find themselves or someone else, are brought together by an intelligent, endearing stray black cat. Told from 6 different POVs (including Cat’s) it is a heartwarming, very well written story that has me seriously considering getting another cat after losing mine 8 years ago.

I really enjoyed Cat’s People. It was well-written, and a really heartwarming story. I loved that each chapter was from a different person’s perspective, and I especially liked that we had chapters from Cat’s perspective. I found the characters to be relatable and very likeable. I enjoyed finding ways that each person’s story was interconnected. Overall, this was a really sweet story that I would recommend.

Cat's People was such a beautiful story, it made me cry tears of joy at multiple points, pulling my emotions along with the story through each character's eyes. Cat's People is about stray black cat and five people whose lives become connected to each other because of their connection to the cat. There are lots of different relationship dynamics and character developments, illustrations of depression, loss, grief, and loneliness that I feel very deeply connected to, and thoughtful portrayals of familial pressures, anxiety, struggles with making friends, and it is all spread out across characters of various ages and life experiences. I could truly see how the author put their love into this story as it is all written in a real and raw manner, but is still comforting, like a hug.

I enjoyed Cat’s People very much. It was something I wasn't expecting, but it was a warm-hearted story, with a brilliant ending
The story of the neighborhood is told from a feral Cat’s point off view and it is enlightenment of human behavior of the highest level.
With Rainbow Lady who fed him, the Mailman with squeaky shoes who talked to him, Aqward neighbor guy, who watched from the window, and the bodega man with the creamy treats all looking out for Cat; all finding each other,
Cat finds it not so bad to have people friends.
Who knew cat’s were so smart?

Cat on the pink cover? Yes please. Cast of characters? Love it.
In this book we meet Nuria who is a barista in her thirties. Lily, a young women in search of her half sisters. Collin who is a author with social anxiety. Omar the happy mailman. A widowed bodega owner named bong. And of course.. the cat!
This book was both heartwarming and bittersweet. I really enjoy the different POVs and how the cat weaves people together. As we roll into the winter scaries, this book filled me right up with cozy vibes. Recommend.

A sweet story about a cat who brings a connection to several people in Brooklyn and how it manifests.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley, and this is my honest opinion.

I’m trying to find the right words to say to express how much this book means to me. This is going down as one of my favorite books of all time. Cat’s People is a story about found family, and how a group of strangers in New York all become intertwined in each others lives due to their mutual love of a local stray cat.
First, we follow Núria, a local barista, who stops to feed the stray cat on her way to work every day. Then there’s Collin, a best selling author, who sees Núria feed this cat from his window and becomes inspired, and intrigued. We follow Omar, the mail man, who always walks with the cat to the nearest Bodega and buys him some creamy cat treats. Then there’s Bong, the Bodega owner, who finds his own connection with the stray through his late wife. There’s also Lily, a store clerk, who sees Núria buying cat supplies and ends up befriending her under false pretenses, while also hiding a secret about why she’s really in the city. Finally, we follow Cat himself as he navigates living on the busy streets of New York, and how he brings an entire group of people together through their shared love for him.
This book is a story of love, friendship, found family, awkward yet real conversations, and is a true display of what it means to love others- human or feline. Despite the multiple POV’s, this book is incredibly easy to follow. Each person has their own strong personality, and I was able to connect to EVERY single character in this story, which is so extremely rare for me. I loved every person, and enjoyed seeing their lives become more and more intertwined with each other as the story went on. As someone who takes care of stray cats myself, this was such a beautiful story. The writing was perfect, especially since part of the story is told through the POV of a cat, and it really made me feel like I knew these people and lived on the same block as them.
If you are at all a cat person, you’re going to want to read this book and hug your fur babies tightly. I’m so happy I got to read this and find this soul touching tale.

This was the perfect cozy read! I loved reading about this cat and learning about the people in which it interacts with. The story really shows the simplicities of life and how we interact with each other in the smallest yet most impactful ways. I really enjoyed reading it. It is a slow read but one that will warm your heart.

A sweet and simple story that I need!! The characters are very realistic and likeable, and Cat is just so cute and reminds me of my cat!

This is such a heartwarming story about a stray cat and the people whom he interacts with. It alternates points of view between the people and the cat, and it's just such a beautiful story. This will be released in April 2025 and trust me, you need to read it! Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for my digital ARC!!

In this heartwarming novel, a stray cat unites five strangers during a transformative summer, exploring themes of love and connection. Núria, a barista and member of The Meow-Yorkers in Brooklyn, discovers anonymous Post-It notes from a secret admirer while caring for her favorite stray, a black cat named Cat. As she navigates potential admirers—Collin, a reclusive author; Lily, a Georgia native searching for her sister; Omar, a mailman facing a mid-life crisis; and Bong, a grieving widower—their shared concern for Cat's sudden illness, fosters unexpected bonds. Through this experience, they learn that chance encounters can lead to meaningful relationships.

Such a heartwarming book. Made me cry in places. I enjoyed this book very much. Kept me thoroughly interested through one sitting. Look forward to much more by this author.

A sweet story delivered to me at a time when I really really needed a sweet story. I enjoyed the human characters, and felt particular affection for Cat.

I wasn't sure that I would enjoy this book. I am not a cat person and I didn't know how that might color my perception. As I read deeper and deeper into this story, I found myself hooked. I didn't care that the central character was a cat. The people were so interesting and vibrant that I enjoyed every page.
Cat is a stray. While other cats may wish for an indoor home and reliable feeding, Cat doesn't. He has his routine and is perfectly content on his own. A lady comes around nearly every day and feeds him. His friend the mailman buys him a treat on his delivery days. The nice lady at the bodega used to feed him too but he hasn't seen her for a while. Cat hasn't made his mind up whether he likes the writer or not. Only time will tell. These are Cat's people. How will he bring such divergent people together? Circumstances will cause these people to become neighbors and friends.
I've never read a book told from the perspective of a Cat. The author brilliantly captures the behaviors and oddities of humans. This is an uplifting story about people reaching out and caring for each other, quite a juxtaposition to contemporary life. Each character grows and their lives become more - all because of a cat.
This is a quick reading story that warms your heart and reminds us of how important human connections really is to our lives.

This book felt like a warm hug and it was exactly what I needed. In this book we follow a group of five people who come together to help take care of a sick cat. Found family is one of my favorite tropes and the character work that Tanya Guerrero did was so beautiful, I found myself tearing up a time or two.

I was able to read this novel thru NetGalley and even though I am not a cat lover I really enjoyed this book. Told thru the viewpoints of the characters that a wild cat encounters in the streets of the city it moves quickly and it’s easy to be engaged in the outome. Well written and different from most other novels because of its originality.

A charming story about a stray cat and all the people he interacts with. The main characters are all lonely or searching for something more. Cat brings them all together. It's a heartwarming tale that will make you both laugh and cry. A delightful read.

I loved the story, the world building and meeting the different characters. I felt completely immersed in the story and couldn't stop reading it.
