This Book Will Bury Me is Ashley Winstead at her finest!

Jane recenlty lost her dad and is looking for someway to honor his legacy. Logging onto her computer, she discovers true crime Reddit and can not look away. Helping solve a murder mystery case, she is hooked and needs to help her internet friends find who killed a set of college girls in Delphine, Idaho. They've got suspects but everytime they think they've cracked the case, something else comes unraveled. Anyone could be the killer at this point and maybe, just maybe, the evidence is right where they were looking this whole time. Jane just needs the right hint to push her there, and she's going to tell it all in her "a year later" book, if she can figure out the case.

I could not put down Winstead's latest thriller, wanting to know who killed all those girls! While, at first, the case reminded me a lot of the Idaho four in reality, I loved that Winstead didn't make it that way with the twists and turns. This is one you definitely need to go in with a whole day mapped to just read because you'll want to know the who's, what's, when's, where's and why's ASAP. The shorter chapters and fun social-media threads placed throughout made this a quick paced one that I will definitely reread to catch more clues!

Wow just wow! I am honestly just blown away. Winstead does it again! Her writting is brilliant and my words fail me. She is a multi genre threat ! Romance & thrillers ?! I can’t think of another writer that has done that or at least I have never experienced it. THIS BOOK WILL BURY ME is encompassing, deep, heatbreaking and riveting. She writes so well to tie in the rawness of people in her characters, the grief, drive, shame and ugliness of people’s personalities was brilliant. I guessed part of the ending but it didn’t take away from the book AT ALL. The true crime take was refreshing- I’m not really part of the obsession as it gives me anxiety but it was a refreshing angle.


Jane Sharp reeling from her father’s death needs a distraction and falls into the company of true crime sleuths. As they start to gain traction the biggest can is the Delphine murders. Three college girls are murdered in Idaho (hello another COLLEGE CAMPUS 👌🏽) and they race to solve the case. But it keeps on taking weird turns- more questions than answers, the cops are sloppy, and the media theories add to the frenzy.

This book MUST be on your radar, Winstead WILL be an auto buy author and I CAN NOT WAIT to see you all rave about this one!

3.5 stars. This book started out good and the ending kept me reading. There were some parts in the middle that dragged on, but overall a good read.

Ashley Winstead was already fast becoming a favorite when I received this book. Well, this one just bumped her into "auto-buy without even reading the blurb" territory for me! I freakin' LOVED THIS BOOK!!! I am already a fan of the true-crime sleuth trope, and this story is just that on steroids. Yes, I did guess the big reveal fairly early on, but that in no way diminished my devouring the pages and totally enjoying the ride to get there! And there was still so much more! I was thinking of angles while I was doing other stuff and could not wait to pick it back up again! Part of the story is based on the actual Idaho killings from a couple years ago, but there is way more than that. Jane is sad and lonely after her fathers' death. She begins online investigating crimes with fellow true-crime junkies, and they get their big case when 3 college girls are murdered at a college campus. I enjoyed the friendships and camaraderie of the group and feeling like I was solving the crime along with the characters. It was also interesting to see what a double-edged sword not leaving the crime-solving up to the trained professionals can be. The story is told in an interesting way. We are reading it as a book that Jane has written explaining how everything went down after the fact. Complete with footnotes and everything. I loved it! Did I already mention that? No, I don't think any of this could actually happen in real life, but it's not called fiction for nothing. Just kick back and hang on! Hurry up, Ashley and give us another one!!!

I don't love to post negative reviews on books, especially ARCs. I've been thinking about and wrestling with this review since I finished reading it. Ilove Ashley Winstead's books and I was so excited to read this. The book wasn't what l expected at all. I loved the premise of true crime fanatics helping to solve crimes through web sleuthing.
However, the main crime in this book was too much like the true Idaho murders and many details were taken from the true crime tragedy and it just didn't set right with me. I was disappointed that Winstead incorporated these details into her fiction book. She didn't even mention anything about the true crime in her author's note.
Even if you take out this part of the book, the story just fell flat for me.

Thanks to netgalley for an arc of this book that comes out next March. An online group of people form a true crime podcast try to solve murders. This book takes a lot of the information and scenes from the college murders of the students in Idaho. This Book will bury me by Ashley Winstead. 3 stars.

I really liked the writing style of this book. It was a little on the longer side, but I think it flowed pretty good so it wasn’t boring. The only issue I really have is that it’s basically the story of the Delhi murders. If I had known that going in, I probably wouldn’t have chosen to read it. I will definitely be reading more books by this author in the future, as I really enjoyed the writing style.

I absolutely fell deep into this book! On the longer side, I knew it’d be a marathon and not a sprint, so I took my time and fully immersed myself. I loved the characters, the plot, the pull to figure out what really happened. I found myself thinking of it when I wasn’t reading it- like a tv show pending a new season.

Now, with that said, this is not a “could happen in real life” story. Or if so, would’ve been completely impractical. But it’s fiction, so who cares? The story was well paced until part three- then I felt like it unfolded rapidly. I felt like it was a little too fast- but I still loved it!

This is my first book by this author and it won't be my last. The writing was very good. It had me hooked and desperate to know what happened next. It delved into internet crime sleuths that included a found family aspect. I knew what the twist would be. I have watched and read enough that it would have been shocking had it not been what it was. Still a solid book. Was it spooky for my month reads? No but it was a good read.

This was way too close to the actual Delphi murders.

After not loving her last couple of books, I am happy to report that I am back to being an Ashley Winstead fan. I really liked This Book Will Bury Me. I think I liked it since it's based true crime sleuths on the internet trying to solve murders. The murders were a bit gory so heads up for that. The only reason I removed a star was 1) it was longgg. perhaps a little too long? and 2) the whole finding info about her deceased father didn't make much sense to me. I understood how it fit, i just didn't think the amount it was discussed was necessary for the story.

Oh wow! What a fun book about the world of true crime. I really enjoyed the diverse characters, their backgrounds and interactions. (Bonus points for including someone from Iowa, my home state!) Although I had predicted one of the killers early I loved all of the twists and turns that led to the reveal. The ending was EPIC! I would never have predicted what happened at the safe house. I truly enjoyed this book and found that I couldn't put it down. I would definitely recommend it to friends and am now excited to read other titles by this author. I appreciate the opportunity to read the book and give feedback.

I really enjoyed this book! I liked the writing style and the flow of the story. It kept me wanting to keep reading so I could find out what happened. I really like Ashley Winstead books and I was so excited to get an Advance Readers copy of this book through NetGalley. It was the perfect spooky read for October!

As a true crime fanatic, I adored every second of this book. Winstead writes a compelling narrative that is one part crime thriller and one part coming-of-age story.

I really wanted to like this book. I liked it until i realized the entire book was a retelling of the Idaho murder case. At first I just thought it was an inspiration but the small details even matched up. As a lover of true crime these victims have not received justice. I find it so wrong that the author wrote a book that is detail to detail of the Idaho murders. I wish I could have loved it but it was not for me.

WOW what a book. A little long winded. But I absolutely loved the journey and our imperfect narrator. This book is going to sit with me for DAYS

This book was right up my alley! It was intriguing and twisty and had a satisfying ending. I enjoyed the character development as well. If you like a good thriller you’ll really like this one. I highly recommend this book.

This book was amazing! I read it so quickly and just could not put it down. This was one of my most anticipated books of 2025 and I already got to enjoy it! Ashley Winstead writes characters you love and are simultaneously suspicious of the whole time. This one was no different! Everytime I thought I figured out the twist I was so wrong.

This was mostly really good!!!! In the first 100 pages thought it was going to be a new favorite, with a fast paced intro, intriguing premise, and interesting characters. The middle dragged a little though, slowing the pace and losing my attention, but the ending ramped back up, and got me hooked again. I did predict the twist pretty early on, but I still found the ending to be satisfying and gripping. Notably, and something I didn’t care for: the author chose to use the Idaho murders (a real-world, very recent) crime as the backbone of this story. It felt insensitive (the trial is literally still ongoing), and took me out of the story because I kept going back to the real case to try and figure out what was fact versus fiction.
Overall though, would definitely recommend!
