Wow. This book starts where the last one ends. I love this series so much. The ghosts, the brides, the family it's all just an amazing story. I can't wait to see what happens with the house and when they get all seven rings from Dobbs.

Welcome to the Maine coast, where the fog rolls in, the seagulls scream ominously, and nothing is as it seems. Sonya MacTavish thought she’d inherited a charming, slightly-creepy Victorian mansion. You know — peeling wallpaper, creaky floorboards, a ghost or two max. But what she actually got was a full-blown supernatural mystery complete with haunted bridal portraits, a cursed mirror, and the kind of nighttime noises that make you sleep with the lights on.
Sonya doesn’t just hear ghosts — she sees them. She dreams them. And one night, in true “Alice but make it gothic” fashion, she glides through a mysterious mirror and straight into the past… where she watches a bride get murdered on her wedding day. Romantic, right?
What unfolds is a tangled, time-hopping web of curses, betrayal, tragic love stories, and a mansion that basically deserves its own IMDB page. Each bride has a story. Each mirror scene unlocks another haunting piece of the puzzle. And Sonya? She’s not just trying to survive — she’s determined to break a centuries-old curse and finally put these restless spirits (and maybe her own doubts) to rest.
Now, let’s talk series structure. Nora Roberts doesn’t dabble in trilogies — she reigns. And this one? Pure gold. Unlike some of her past paranormal collections that follow different couples with a single thread tying them together, this trilogy is a one-plot wonder. Same characters, same cursed town, same goosebumps — just escalating drama with every turn of the page.
By book two (which is where we are now), everything ramps up. The characters are more layered, the relationships deepen, the Big Bad is nastier, and the world of Poole’s Bay feels so vividly alive you’ll want to book a ghost tour — or maybe burn some sage. Seriously, the creepy brides alone deserve their own spin-off.
There are still a few secrets left dangling (as any good middle book should do), but it all works to build anticipation for what promises to be a mind-blowing finale. And yes, the ghosts are terrifying, but there’s also a sense of love, legacy, and sisterhood grounding everything — because Nora never forgets to bring the heart.
Haunting, mysterious, romantic, and utterly immersive, this book is gothic glamour with a supernatural twist. If you like cursed objects, ghostly women in white, and puzzles that unravel like a Victorian tragedy, then start with Inheritance and get ready for one wild ride through the mirror. Roberts has created something seriously magical — and I cannot wait to see how it all ends.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. I’ll just be here, staring into my bathroom mirror nervously until book three drops.

I'm a sucker for Nora Roberts, and this series has been really good, other than I hate ending in a cliff hanger. The second book in the series was not quite as gripping as the first, but I'm hopeful that the last one will wrap everything up and have a satisfying amount of suspense. I'm not sure why this needed to be a three book series though, as this second book really didn't accomplish much in the plot.

THis was a great audiobook. Listening to it was very clear. THis book starts where the Inheritance ends. It is a great story that kept my interest.
Sonya inherited a mansion, She moves in with her best friend. Weird things happen in this house and when they happen the two women and their male friends stick together. This story focuses on their relationships and what happens when the mirror appears.. It was great to listen to this story.. I was able to listen while doing other things..

This was great! I love the whole alice in wonderland feel with the twist of thrill! I listened straight thru on my road trip! It was perfect!

The narration on this was spectacular! I really liked what the plot of this book was about. A haunted house, a curse, and which it was perfect. I would for sure listen to this again. Thank you Macmillan audio for the gifted audiobook.

This is the second book in the Nora Roberts series. It is good but I liked the first one better. The main character is still living in the house with her best friend and her boyfriend stays over a lot. She is having issues with nightmares, sleepwalking and seeing ghosts. She is struggling to keep her mind in the real world. There are supernatural threats to the occupants of the house, and they are all very afraid. So, they come up with a plan--a way to stay safe. This is the part I can't reveal, or it will spoil the story. If you want to read a fun, ghost story that has both romance and chills this is the book to read!

Was a huge fan of the first one but it was starting to get interesting near the end of that one so I figured I would give the mirror a try and honestly it wasn’t getting much better for me. The narrator was good and was the only thing that got me as far in as I did get. I won’t be trying another Nora Robert’s book I just don’t think they are for me.

I need more stars! This was amazing, absolutely amazing! I love how each bride's story unfolds & fits into the main story. I could not put this down & I cannot wait for the next one.

Dear The Mirror,
You were not a good story, or a bad story. You just fell into the typical second book in a trilogy trap. You were a connection between the beginning and the end of the story arc. The story did move forward, but you were somewhat flat and repetitive, without much momentum. I am glad that I read you, and I will be finishing the List Bride Trilogy, you were a bit "meh" for me.

I didn't realize right away that this was Book 2 in The Lost Bride trilogy, so when I did, I was thrilled to read "The Mirror," and I can't wait for Book 3 when it comes.
"The Mirror" picks up the story where "Inheritance" left off. Sonya MacTavish and her friend Clio are making Poole Manor theirs, even as the ghosts they live with make themselves known and pitch in around the property. For the most part, the ghosts are friendly, with one distinct exception--Hester the witch; the one responsible for cursing and killing seven Poole brides over the centuries, and who is determined that the manor is hers, and hers alone.
With the help of Trey and Owen, Sonya and Clio try to piece together the history of the ghosts and witch, while reclaiming the manor for themselves. They come to realize the more life and happiness there is in the manor, the less energy Hester has to work with. So, they plan a big summer soiree and invite the whole town to return to the manor after it's been shut up for years.
In the battle of wills between Hester and the foursome, Sonya and her friends seem to be winning. But there can't be a clear victor until either the witch or the living are banished from the manor forever. And Hester isn't about to give up that easily!
While I'm not normally a fan of paranormal stories, I'm really enjoying all of the different personalities in this series. The ghost of Sonya's grandmother, Clover, is especially entertaining with all of her musical commentary along the way.
I really enjoy this author's writing and can't wait for the final book in the trilogy to come out!
Thank you to Nora Roberts, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for an advance review copy.

The Mirror is the second book in the Lost Bride series. It picks up right where we left off in book one with Sonya at her newly inherited very HAUNTED mansion in Maine. As Sonya and her bff Cleo continue to settle in they get along great with the ghosts who take their duties very seriously. All expect the one ghost who has murdered all 7 of the brides that died in the Manson. She’s very unhappy and spends a great deal of time trying to scare the girls away. They need to find a way to get rid of her for good.
This was so compelling kept me going till it was over. Can’t wait for book 3 to come out in November.

The Mirror is a beautifully written, atmospheric story that perfectly blends romance, mystery, and a touch of the supernatural. The characters were deeply compelling, and their relationships felt authentic and emotionally rich. The chemistry between the leads was fantastic, and I loved watching their connection grow against the backdrop of suspense and intrigue. Overall, The Mirror is a captivating read that delivers everything I love about her books; strong characters, a gripping plot, and just the right amount of magic.

Normally I read the more modern and mystery/thriller type books by Nora Roberts, but I am hooded on this series. It centers around a haunted mansion in Maine and a bride that travels into a magic mirror to solve a mystery. I love the characters and it was fun to try and piece together the mystery.
4 stars

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for my copy of The Mirror by Nora Roberts Narrated by Brittany Pressley in exchange for an honest review. It published November 19, 2024.
First off, Brittany Pressley does a really great job with this cast of characters. Everyone has their own voice!
I definitely enjoyed this book even more than the first! I appreciated all the backstory and building up of everything! The relationships and character development, professionally and personally really enriched the story.
What I didn’t love is how everyone was shocked when people cooked food, it gets old. I also didn’t love all the foul language and the sex scenes—but you can skip those.
I will definitely be reading the third installment!

What can I say an ancient curse, a haunted mansion is a recipe for an entertaining story. This is one you can get lost in. In true Nora Roberts fashion, she entertains from beginning to end. Get comfortable and immerse yourself in this one.

Nora Roberts' The Mirror is a captivating blend of suspense, romance, and supernatural mystery. When Sonya MacTavish inherits a grand Victorian mansion in coastal Maine, she steps into a world filled with eerie occurrences. From the footsteps she hears at night to the ghostly music, Sonya quickly realizes her new home is haunted. The discovery of haunting visions, particularly surrounding a mysterious antique mirror, draws her deeper into the mansion's dark past.
As she experiences disturbing glimpses of the past, including a murdered bride, Sonya is thrust into unraveling a centuries-old curse. The atmospheric setting of Maine and the slow unraveling of the mystery keep readers on the edge of their seats, eagerly turning pages. With Roberts' signature storytelling, this novel expertly mixes elements of the supernatural with a compelling romance, making it a perfect read for those who love a mix of mystery and historical intrigue.
The Mirror is a thrilling and emotional tale that will leave fans of Roberts’ work deeply satisfied, while newcomers will quickly be swept into the charm of her writing. The suspenseful atmosphere and heart-pounding plot twists ensure this audiobook is a thrilling experience from start to finish.

I thoroughly enjoyed Inheritance, the first book in this Lost Bride trilogy, and looked forward to this, the second book with some trepidation, knowing that sometimes the second book in a trilogy can feel like the weak link. The first part sets the stage. The third brings the conclusion and hopefully delivers all the promise of the first two. The second can feel like filler - hopefully moving the plot but it can easily be disappointing, even though you go into it knowing there won't be a resolution to all things (whatever the things may be). Happily this one didn't leave me feeling disappointed - and it does move things along. We learn more about Sonya and her tribe (both old friends and family and new friends and a significant other) as they get to know each other. She's growing her free-lancing business, finding her place in her new community, and taking trips through that mirror to learn more about the history of her inherited home and the ghost who wants her gone. Brittany Pressley is a favorite narrator for me, and she did her usual excellent job with the narration here. I enjoyed this second book, and am very much looking forward to third and final one.
Thanks to Netgalley and Macmillan Audio for providing a digital copy for an unbiased review.

I love this series! The sequel rose up to all my expectations. The mystery part is getting darker and more dangerous, as the title mirror brings its magic to the story. In between these moments there are the real lives of the four protagonists, filled with light and love and hope. This permanent transition makes the story flow, and the house, the ghosts and the pets bring a lovely whimsy to the book. The narration is wonderful, just like the first book. I can't wait for book 3!
