What an awesome book. Well written, great character development and of course, narration was on point! Nora Roberts is always amazing and this book is no different. This continued the story in book 1 and it transitioned seamlessly. Now I just need book 3 so I can find out how it ends!!!!
Thanks NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the audio book in exchange for my honest review.

If you thought time-traveling ghosts were entertaining on the page, wait until you hear them brought to life in the audiobook of The Mirror. The real star here? The narrator.
With pitch-perfect pacing, a talent for distinct voices, and just the right touch of drama, the audiobook reader turns Nora Roberts' twisty, ghost-filled tale into an irresistible listening experience. The narrator handles everything—from spectral sass to romantic tension—with flair, making every time jump and haunted encounter feel vivid and cinematic.
It's not easy to juggle the living, the dead, and the occasionally possessed, but this narrator does it with charm and humor. If you’re looking for a story that’s equal parts spooky and swoony, with a narrator who knows exactly how to keep you hooked, The Mirror on audio is the way to go. Just maybe keep a light on while you listen.
Thank you Netgalley and McMillan Audio for book 2 of Nora Roberts wonderful series, the lost brides trilogy!

I read this book when it came out in 2023. I was excited to get the audiobook as I didn't have the audiobook when it came out. I have read the majority of Nora's books and this one didn't disappoint. To be honest, the second book was not as good as the first but I'm hopeful for the third one.
Thank you for allowing me to get a book in a different format to a book I've enjoyed in the past. I'm looking forward to the third book coming out this fall.
I appreciated the narrator and the pacing of the audiobook.

The saga continues! We get to see Sonya's presentation and her and Cleo's house party event, and we learn more about Hester Dobbs and the seven lost brides. I love the ghosts in this series and I love them even more in this one. I wish I had ghosts to pick out my clothes, do the dishes, weed the gardens, and chop the wood. It's a lot of fun to live in the manor vicariously through Sonya and Cleo (and Trey and Owen), and the animals!
I love the gothic vibes, small town feel, found family, a sense of history (both personal and non-personal) and the mystery of how the manor is cursed. And I'm looking forward to discovering what Hester can do and how she'll be stopped. I wish book three were ready already!

Against popular opinion, I really enjoyed this book! The twists and turns hit exactly when I needed them, making the story so much fun. I laughed out loud more times than I can count and now I can’t wait for the next book!

The Mirror is the second book in the Lost Bride trilogy. Sonya inherited a manor from an uncle she never knew existed. But the house isn’t just an ordinary fresh start for Sonya as she’s sucked into stories of the past and a curse she has to break.
This book is a classic second book in this series. We get more information to set us up for the final book. Could it have been dry? Sure. But it wasn’t. I liked learning about the different brides. Hearing their stories makes the story more personal. I want this curse broken for the brides’ closure. And I’m excited to continue and resolve the story in the last book.
I received this ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.

This second book in the trilogy was a little slower and less interesting for me than the first book was. But it was a quick, easy read and I am invested in the mystery and am looking forward to the final book of the series.

Book 2 of the Lost Bride Trilogy - this book picks up after 'Inheritance.'
Sonya is still residing in a haunted mansion where many brides have been murdered. She's dating Trey and her best friend, Cleo, has moved in. We get tidbits more about each ghost, but honestly for a 13 hour audiobook, the actual plot doesn't feel like it moved much. Like the first book, there feels like there was a lot of filler words in here. Unfortunately, I didn't feel riveted by the plot; I still felt a lot like "what is the point, where are we going with this?" I honestly feel like book one and two could be severely edited and combined into one strong book.
I mid-range 3⭐ for me.
Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillian audio for the chance to listen to this audiobook. The narrator's voice is lovely and easy to listen to.

This series reminds me so much of why I love Roberts's work!! SO SO GOOD! I love the romance, the family, the witchery, the history....just everything about this book and this series! It's going to be an unreal wait for book number 3 in the Lost Brides!! Sonya and Cleo or the perfect balance of best friends, as are Trey and Owen! I've falling in love with each of the ghosts, sans Dobbs!! Highly recommend!!

Book two in The Lost Bride Series was not as good as book one, imo, as it read a bit like diary entries. You follow Sonya’s day to life in the manor as she works, manages friendships, relationships and plans a party at the manor. It talks a lot about decorating, rearranging furniture and gardening. Nothing really happens aside from party planning, wine drinking and experiencing private moments from her ancestors in her sleeping life, through a magic mirror. I started to get a bit bored. She’s still experiencing the antics of all of the spirits who inhabit the manor but less extreme and not as often. Not much has changed. We get the story of the seventh bride near the end. Dobbs is kind of ridiculous and I’m annoyed that we haven’t gotten her exorcised lol. I’m still going to read book three, which releases in November this year, and hope for a lot more answers and action as it’s the last book. Like can we finally find these rings and exorcise this witch?

“You can’t take back death, Sonya.”

I actually think the covers are deceiving for this series, not because they aren’t pretty, but they are set in a Wuthering Heights/Rebecca gothic and eerie victorian mansion on the cliffs. I would also like to say that it is strangely cozy…?! Not as “scary” as September House, but similar feel and determined lead female character. It reminds me a lot of Mexican Gothic.
There is also a very brief sex scene in both books. It felt like the author threw them in, because it was expected. It was unnecessary, which was proved later in the book by off screen moments.
By the end of this second book the stakes have once again been raised and I was left on a huge cliffhanger! I can’t believe I have to wait until November for the third book, that’s months away!
This also has me rethinking authors such as Danielle Steele and if those books are what the perception is, but I’m not brave enough yet to give in to reading those. Again @NetGalley, please give me the third one when it’s ready. I have to know how it ends!
One critique:
The women are cooking/baking…
Phrases like “but they’re men”.
However it is finally acknowledged midway through book two.
Extra Quotes:
‘ “I never had a hobby.”
“Umm, shopping!”
“Shopping’s a calling, even a mission.” ‘

“You move slow. That’s how you’re made, there’s nothing wrong with that. Sometimes circumstances move faster, it’s easier to sail with the wind than into it.” -Owen 43%

A great follow up to "Inheritance." It was awesome to go back and visit Sonya and all of her houseguests. The narrator was phenomenal. I loved the increased tension with more and more occurrences throughout the house and I can't wait for the finale this winter!

I am such a huge Nora Roberts fan. The Mirror was a five star listen for me. I can’t wait for the third book in the trilogy.

Wow. This book starts where the last one ends. I love this series so much. The ghosts, the brides, the family it's all just an amazing story. I can't wait to see what happens with the house and when they get all seven rings from Dobbs.

Welcome to the Maine coast, where the fog rolls in, the seagulls scream ominously, and nothing is as it seems. Sonya MacTavish thought she’d inherited a charming, slightly-creepy Victorian mansion. You know — peeling wallpaper, creaky floorboards, a ghost or two max. But what she actually got was a full-blown supernatural mystery complete with haunted bridal portraits, a cursed mirror, and the kind of nighttime noises that make you sleep with the lights on.
Sonya doesn’t just hear ghosts — she sees them. She dreams them. And one night, in true “Alice but make it gothic” fashion, she glides through a mysterious mirror and straight into the past… where she watches a bride get murdered on her wedding day. Romantic, right?
What unfolds is a tangled, time-hopping web of curses, betrayal, tragic love stories, and a mansion that basically deserves its own IMDB page. Each bride has a story. Each mirror scene unlocks another haunting piece of the puzzle. And Sonya? She’s not just trying to survive — she’s determined to break a centuries-old curse and finally put these restless spirits (and maybe her own doubts) to rest.
Now, let’s talk series structure. Nora Roberts doesn’t dabble in trilogies — she reigns. And this one? Pure gold. Unlike some of her past paranormal collections that follow different couples with a single thread tying them together, this trilogy is a one-plot wonder. Same characters, same cursed town, same goosebumps — just escalating drama with every turn of the page.
By book two (which is where we are now), everything ramps up. The characters are more layered, the relationships deepen, the Big Bad is nastier, and the world of Poole’s Bay feels so vividly alive you’ll want to book a ghost tour — or maybe burn some sage. Seriously, the creepy brides alone deserve their own spin-off.
There are still a few secrets left dangling (as any good middle book should do), but it all works to build anticipation for what promises to be a mind-blowing finale. And yes, the ghosts are terrifying, but there’s also a sense of love, legacy, and sisterhood grounding everything — because Nora never forgets to bring the heart.
Haunting, mysterious, romantic, and utterly immersive, this book is gothic glamour with a supernatural twist. If you like cursed objects, ghostly women in white, and puzzles that unravel like a Victorian tragedy, then start with Inheritance and get ready for one wild ride through the mirror. Roberts has created something seriously magical — and I cannot wait to see how it all ends.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. I’ll just be here, staring into my bathroom mirror nervously until book three drops.

I'm a sucker for Nora Roberts, and this series has been really good, other than I hate ending in a cliff hanger. The second book in the series was not quite as gripping as the first, but I'm hopeful that the last one will wrap everything up and have a satisfying amount of suspense. I'm not sure why this needed to be a three book series though, as this second book really didn't accomplish much in the plot.

THis was a great audiobook. Listening to it was very clear. THis book starts where the Inheritance ends. It is a great story that kept my interest.
Sonya inherited a mansion, She moves in with her best friend. Weird things happen in this house and when they happen the two women and their male friends stick together. This story focuses on their relationships and what happens when the mirror appears.. It was great to listen to this story.. I was able to listen while doing other things..

This was great! I love the whole alice in wonderland feel with the twist of thrill! I listened straight thru on my road trip! It was perfect!

The narration on this was spectacular! I really liked what the plot of this book was about. A haunted house, a curse, and which it was perfect. I would for sure listen to this again. Thank you Macmillan audio for the gifted audiobook.

This is the second book in the Nora Roberts series. It is good but I liked the first one better. The main character is still living in the house with her best friend and her boyfriend stays over a lot. She is having issues with nightmares, sleepwalking and seeing ghosts. She is struggling to keep her mind in the real world. There are supernatural threats to the occupants of the house, and they are all very afraid. So, they come up with a plan--a way to stay safe. This is the part I can't reveal, or it will spoil the story. If you want to read a fun, ghost story that has both romance and chills this is the book to read!
