I had to read this book because the title completely sucked me in . I judged a book by the cover 🙃
I'd give this a 3 1/2 ⭐ but I'm going to round up because I couldn't put it down even though I wasn't really in love with any of the characters . The main character just wasn't doing it for me .
Idk what to say without giving anything away but this book is definitely original in the plot & WILD .
I wasn't a huge fan of Cyra but this chick has balls & I love that !
I love the layout of the chapters also .
Something was missing for me with this book but then I still loved it so 🤷
&& The whole time I was reading I'm wondering if there really is a serial killer support group 😂
Thank u #NetGalley for the arc .
Love finding new authors 🤘

I enjoyed the idea behind this book, Cyra's bloodlust to exact revenge upon her sister's murderer, and her oddly emotionally neutral facade. The notion of a serial killer support group and Cyra having to assimilate herself into their warped culture was entertaining, as was the group of killers she meets. The title gives a lot away, but I was still entertained.

Sneaking into a group for killers is ballsy! Loved the idea of this one but it was missing something for me!

Some books hook you with a clever premise, but Serial Killer Support Group delivers far beyond that initial intrigue. Saratoga Schaefer’s debut is a fast-paced, darkly funny thriller that manages to be both a nail-biting suspense novel and a sharp character study.
The setup: Cyra Griffin, devastated by the unsolved murder of her sister, infiltrates a support group for serial killers, posing as one of them in a desperate bid to unmask the culprit. It’s a high-risk game of deception, and Schaefer wrings every drop of tension from it. The support group isn’t just a backdrop—it’s a whole ecosystem of dangerous individuals, forced into a setting that demands introspection, even as their very nature fights against it.
What makes this book stand out is its balance of tones. It’s dark—sometimes very dark—but Schaefer laces it with biting humor and a keen sense of the absurd. Think Dexter meets Fight Club, but with a queer feminist edge that brings fresh perspective to the genre. Cyra’s journey isn’t just about revenge; it’s about identity, trauma, and the weight of justice—both the kind society allows and the kind we take into our own hands.
Schaefer’s prose is sharp and efficient, keeping the pages turning at a relentless pace. The escalating tension, the claustrophobic setting, and the psychological cat-and-mouse game make for an addictive read. And while the premise is outlandish, the emotions feel raw and real.
This is a thriller with teeth—smart, unique, and unafraid to ask uncomfortable questions. If you want a book that keeps you on edge while making you laugh at the audacity of it all, Serial Killer Support Group is well worth your time.

4.5/5 stars
Thank you Crooked Lane Books for the advanced reading copy!
Wow this book was wild! It took me a second to get in to and definitely had moments where suspension of disbelief was necessary — and those are the only things keeping me from 5 stars.
To start, the premise of this book was super unique and well executed. I mean, a serial killer support group?! What a wild idea. The support group scenes were some of my favs— so interesting to get into the minds of these men! I also especially enjoyed the chapters giving us background info on each member — so fascinating to read part of their origin stories!
The main mystery was well done, with lots of red herrings. I truly didn’t know what to expect for most of this book and even when I was confident I had figured it out, I was proven wrong. This was a twisty, suspenseful, dark and devious thriller and I’d highly recommend it if you want to be shocked!

ARC Review!!!
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC!!
Cyra is dealing with her sister's death and feels like no one cares about finding the killer. She is becoming withdrawn and is distancing herself from everyone around. She feels like the police aren't doing their job. She gets a tip from the police officer on the case that it might be related to other killings,a potential serial killer.
Cyra takes this and runs. She has her friend Eli who also works within the police department and he alludes to there being a serial killer support group. Crya sees that this might be the way to find her sister's killer and needs away in.
Throughout the book, we get comments of Cyra being extremely closed off and cold to everyone. She never grief her sister, didn't cry so it's perfect for her to be able to join the group and not be caught. Cyra joining is very risky and she keeps it from her friends.
In the support group we meet the members and throughout the story we get a glimpse into how or why they became serial killers. I truly loved this aspect of the book, It was so cool to read their beginning and feel like it was done very well.
The story has a nice flow all throughout. I did find it a little boring at time and tough to get through. The plot twist was cool and very well done. There's 2 plot twist but for sure can be caught really on if you're really paying attention.
Cyra was a scary bitch, cool but scary. I liked how it ended.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy in exchange for my honest review. I don’t even know what to say about this book. It might be the most implausible premise of all time with canyon-sized plot holes, yet somehow I didn’t entirely hate it. I think the author has interesting ideas and a solid voice, but at some point an editor should have stepped in and said nothing that happens in this entire book makes any sense.

Very interesting concept which is what drew me to want to read this ARC copy. I didn’t connect as well as I thought, I found the characters needed more dimensions to them, however it could be what the book what aimed for and from that angle it did keep in theme. I did enjoy the ending and couldn’t guess it.

This is such a fun read (or atleast as fun as a book about infiltrating a group of serial killers to solve your younger sister’s murder can be)!
I loved everything about this book: the flawed but complicated FMC, the group of killers and the little vignettes giving us glimpses into their backstories, the pacing, and how the author kept me feeling tense and unsettled until the very end. I will absolutely recommend this one to anyone looking for their next great thriller read!
Thank you to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Serial Killer Support Group really surprised me. I thought I knew exactly where it was headed, but I was completely wrong.
I really enjoyed it. It was full of suspense, mystery, murder and mayhem.
I was hooked early on in the novel, and I couldn't put it down. I read it in one sitting.
Cyra was a great main character. She was strong, determined, loyal, and complex.
This is the first book I've read from Saratoga, and it definitely won't be the last.
If you like a good serial killer revenge story, then I'd highly recommend Serial Killer Support Group.
4 stars from me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks to Netgalley, Crooked Lane Books, and Saratoga Schaefer for the chance to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to Crooked Lane Books and Netgalley for this ARC. Unfortunately this one didn’t work for me. I felt very disconnected from the story and I didn’t like the writing style.

Thank you Netgalley & Crooked Lane Books for an eARC ♥️
Cyra, a complex and intriguing protagonist, infiltrates a support group for serial killers to uncover the truth behind her sister's murder. I was hooked from the very first page!
As Cyra navigates this dark and twisted world, we're introduced to a cast of characters that are both terrifying and fascinating. I loved how the author skillfully wove together their backstories, motivations, and secrets, making each one feel eerily real.
The pacing was expertly handled, with a narrative that jumps between past and present in a way that's both suspenseful and thought-provoking. I appreciated how Saratoga Schaefer used this non-linear structure to slowly reveal clues, building tension and suspense to almost unbearable levels.
The individual serial killer chapters were some of the most compelling parts of the book, offering a glimpse into the twisted minds of these characters. I was on the edge of my seat, eager to learn more about each one and how they fit into the larger puzzle.
I'm blown away by this book!!!!!🤯

This was a read that I really enjoyed!
Cyra's sister was murdered, and she is bound and determined to find out who her sisters killer is. Cyra is able to get her hands on some information that has not been released to the public around her sister Mira's murder. With that information, she plans to join the serial killer support group, and find out which of them killed her sister. Little does she know how much danger she is truly putting herself in by joining this group and exposing herself to these killers.
This book started off fairly slow and stayed that way until towards the end of the book. There was some things happening throughout but could have been a bit more thrill in the start and middle of the book.

The title caught my eye…a serial killer support group is wild. I do wish there would have been more “support” in the group, but that’s just me lol. It was a whodunnit that kept me interested and even guessing. I’ll keep an eye out for more from this author.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This book brings a unique premise to the mystery/thriller genre. I was immediately sucked into the plot, and found myself not being able to put this down as I needed to know what happened next. I thought I had the whodunnit aspect figured out but I was definitely wrong. I will say at the first few scenes it was a little challenging to figure out the character’s nicknames, but I was able to catch on relatively quickly and it was no longer an issue. Despite the book’s dark nature, I genuinely enjoyed this breath of fresh air to the genre and recommend giving this one a read.

When Cyra's sister is murdered by a serial killer, she accesses the dark web to infiltrate a serial killer support group to get vengeance for her sister. I read the first half and listed to the second. This was suspenseful, dark, and a moments had me holding me breath. I like that these types of suspense/thrillers are being written from the female gaze. Cyra is a force to be reckoned with, and I loved every twist!

Thanks to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the eARC.
Super excited to be an early reader of this book, was so intrigued by the premise. I found most of the characters insufferable though and had to push to get through.

DNF at 50%.
The idea of a serial killer support group sounded fun (like the very witty Final Girls support group) and I wanted to like this. Still, none of the characters were likable and the book requires a LOT of suspension of belief. Our protagonist's sister is killed by a serial killer and when she finds that a group of them meets weekly in New York she's determined to infiltrate them. But what are the odds of this killer being one of them? Aren't serial killers notoriously bad at being in groups?
The killers are all one-dimensional characters. I found Cyra & Mira, the sisters, annoying. Overall, this wasn't for me.
Thanks to Netgalley & Crooked Lane Books for the e-copy!

dnf'd at 20%. this was such a. mess. like i get suspending my level of disbelief for books but this wanted me to basically breakdown my frontal lobe and set it on fire.

Loved this book. It was a fun and unique story that kept me on the edge of my seat. Thanks to Crooked Lane Books for the ARC.
