Good Premise, Mixed Execution
A Little Getaway had a lot of promise—the idea of a suspenseful escape with a spicy twist definitely caught my attention. There were moments that pulled me in, especially when the tension picked up and the stakes got higher. Bonnie Traymore created a setting that felt both relaxing and unsettling, which made for an interesting contrast.
That said, the story didn’t fully deliver for me. While the suspense kept me curious, the pacing felt uneven, and some of the twists were a bit predictable. The romantic elements added some heat, but at times they felt rushed or took away from the overall suspense. I also had a hard time connecting with a few of the characters, which made certain plot points less impactful.
Overall, it was an okay read—not bad, but not great. If you’re looking for a quick, steamy thriller that doesn’t take itself too seriously, it might be worth checking out. Just go in with moderate expectations.

This particular one was just not for me. I’ll need to pick it back up again soon because I don’t remember why I sift DNA’s this one around 50%.
Thank you for the arc! I appreciate the opportunity to leave honest feedback voluntarily.

When I heard this book was suspense AND spice, I was sold. You rarely get both, and if you do, it’s rarely done well. This book delivered exactly what it promised. It kept me entertained with enough twists and turns as well.

What starts as a peaceful solo escape quickly spirals into a nightmare in this fast-paced, twisty thriller. Bonnie Traymore masterfully balances suspense, paranoia, and emotional depth, making you question every character’s motive—including the protagonist’s. With short chapters and plenty of surprises, A Little Getaway is a binge-worthy read that keeps you hooked until the final page.
Perfect for fans of domestic thrillers with unreliable narrators and vacation vibes that turn sinister.

3.5 stars actually
This was a fun blend of suspense and spice. The setting was great, and there were enough twists to keep me flipping pages. I liked the tension between the characters and how the plot kept escalating. On the flip side, some of the reveals felt a little predictable, and the romantic elements sometimes overshadowed the thriller part for me. Still, it’s a quick, entertaining read if you like a little heat with your suspense.

A Little Getaway delivers on the spice and the suspense, but not always at the same time. The chemistry between the characters is definitely hot, and the tension builds well in the first half. But as the thriller elements kick in, the plot starts to wobble a bit with some questionable choices and twists that felt a little forced. It’s a fun, fast read if you’re in the mood for something sexy with a side of danger, but don’t expect everything to tie together perfectly. Enjoyable, just not unforgettable.

I did not see the ending going the way that it did. A good portion of the time to be honest I thought that the husband was dead and that she was behind it. I did not see it being the other way around. And with the package at the end that was perfect.

A quick and fun read, this domestic thriller keeps things spicy with plenty of twists. While it’s engaging overall, there are moments where the pacing slows down a bit. Still, the unexpected twists make it a solid choice for anyone looking for a thrilling story.

Quick paced domestic thriller. A cheating husband, missing person, is there more to it? There are a few twists throughout the book that keep you wanting to read more. It gets you from the very start.

This book was a pleasant surprise.
I thoroughly enjoyed it, as it was a quick read and a good time.

A big thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for early access to this book. I love me a good thriller in this one is definitely a keeper! This book was a page Turner and a nailbiter. I really enjoyed it. This is a book that needs to be added to your TBR list.

A Little Getaway by Bonnie Traymore is a fast-paced domestic thriller packed with suspense and unexpected twists. When Morgan and Kyle Murphy’s marriage starts to feel strained, Kyle plans a romantic weekend getaway to rekindle their spark. But what should have been a fresh start turns into a nightmare—Morgan is attacked, and Kyle vanishes without a trace.
Traymore masterfully builds tension, keeping you hooked as Morgan unravels the shocking truth behind her husband’s disappearance. The pacing is tight, the suspense is gripping, and while the "spicy" elements are minimal, the mystery more than makes up for it. If you love domestic thrillers with jaw-dropping twists, this one is worth the read!

A++++ this was fun and spicy I absolutely loved this!!! My bestie read this after me and absolutely devoured it!!! Such a good book

Ok i did enjoy this thriller but someone please tell me why it says its a spicy thriller?!? lol. I'm lost with that aspect. I enjoyed this...i appreciated the ending even though it didn't end with some kind of crazy twist. all in all, it was it was good.

This book was an easy-to-read thriller that kept my interest throughout, although I felt like it was slow at times. It was hard for me to connect with the female main character because it felt like she was all over the place. The ending came and went so fast, I almost felt like it was too rushed. Overall, a good read, but I probably wouldn't recommend it to anyone who can scent out the ending from a mile away.
Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the eCopy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

This story starts with Kyle's disappearance during their weekend away, so the tension is immediately palpable. Then you jump into the past and go back a month. Here you can read that Kyle and Morgan's marriage is no longer so good, and Morgan even thinks that Kyle is cheating...
Ultimately you read chapters in the present again and Tara comes across Morgan's path. Tara is a journalist trying to find out what happened to Kyle. And can Morgan herself be trusted?
I thought this story started very well and I was very curious to know what had happened to Kyle. I also thought Morgan was an interesting character, partly because of her past.
You don't really know who to trust and this keeps the story interesting. I did think that the plot would be very different and I don't really know what I think about this yet. Not that it's bad, but I had different expectations.
'A little getaway' was certainly fun to read and I think I will look for more from this author!

This was a fun thriller with lots of little twists along the way. But the end will leave you with a surprise!

This was my first book by this author and it was actually pretty good! It hooked me from the very beginning and I was engaged the whole way through! 4 ⭐️
Thank you NetGalley!!

I can't recommend it enough! I really enjoyed this book, I couldn't put it down, I finished it in a couple of days!

A Little Getaway is a quick, fast-paced read, though it doesn’t quite align with its synopsis. The book focuses on Morgan, whose husband mysteriously disappears, leaving her scrambling to uncover the truth while also dodging suspicion herself. Alongside Morgan’s perspective, we get chapters from Tara, a determined reporter chasing a big scoop.
At under 300 pages, the book is an easy read, but it does require some suspension of disbelief. The plot itself reads more like a basic mystery with a few twists, rather than the high-stakes, suspense-filled ride I was hoping for. As the story progresses, it starts to feel unrealistic and disjointed. Morgan's character is difficult to connect with, mostly because her actions are erratic and not fully justified. We’re given glimpses into her troubled past, but these moments feel underdeveloped and don’t serve to add real depth to her character. On a positive note, Tara’s perspective offers a nice shift in focus in keeping things fast-paced and relatively engaging, especially with the mystery elements. However, her presence isn’t enough to redeem the book as a whole.
Overall, A Little Getaway is a quick read but ultimately lacks the depth and execution needed to make it memorable.
