This was a good thriller, but it didn't fully hit the mark for me. The book delivers a few exciting twists, but some aspects of the plot felt predictable and the pacing was a little off at times.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing an advanced copy of this book.

A woman suspects her husband of cheating and then he disappears. This book was so fast paced, which I love, and had me needing to know what would happen next! I would definitely recommend!

There is so much going on in this story with the deceit and lying though also just being ok with offing your partner these two are a real doozie but it makes for great reading content and I really enjoyed the book.

Nope. Title is super misleading. Spicy thriller - not at all. Not reading it for the spice, but when it’s LITERALLY in the title, you’d expect some - none. Which that’s fine, but then change the title.
As far as the actual book - the premise wasn’t bad, yet it just didn’t deliver. Overall I would’ve DNF’d this book if I wasn’t so heck bent on not dnfing books. I found the book slow, and then when it was over I thought - that was it?
Wouldn’t recommend it 😬
Received this as an E-Arc, from NetGalley.

Spicy….i would maybe remove that phrase from the tagline. It almost feels like false advertisement. It’s any otherwise good book, if I weren’t constantly wondering where the advertised “spice” was

📚: A Little Getaway by Bonnie Traymore
⭐️: 4/5
The gist: A little getaway to a beach resort turns bloody for Morgan Murphy and her husband, Kyle. Morgan prides herself on having a marriage that stays - ahem - passionate, but suddenly she feels Kyle pulling away. Is it work, with a deal taking a sharp left turn? Or is it another woman? Just as Morgan’s spider senses start to rise, Kyle whisks her away on this beach getaway… at the same time he decides to up both of their life insurance policies. Next thing you know, Kyle disappears into thin air, and Morgan needs to piece together what is going on.
The good: Easily bingeable and fast paced, with suspense that had me furiously turning pages. This was my first Bonnie Traymore read, but won’t be my last! I enjoyed the twists and turns this story took, and found Morgan to be a complex character that I cautiously rooted for.
The eh: A few plot points that landed abruptly in the latter half. Also, this is billed as a *spicy* suspense thriller, while this book had a plot line surrounding some spiciness, I wouldn’t necessarily call this book spicy. 🤷🏻♀️
Big thanks to BooksGoSocial via @netgalley for the digital ARC in exchange for an honest review. A Little Getaway is out now!

Honest Review!
I’m not really sure if I read the same book as others since the ratings on GoodReads is about a 3.8 but this was a 2.5 for me.
“A Little Getaway” was a disappointment from start to finish. The plot felt disjointed, with too many clichéd twists that lacked any real suspense or intrigue. The characters were flat and unrelatable, making it hard to care about their fates. The dialogue was awkward, and the writing style itself felt unpolished, as if it were rushed to publication.
What could have been an exciting psychological thriller ended up being predictable and uninspired. I kept waiting for a moment that would redeem the story, but it never came.
Sadly, this book didn’t live up to its potential.

Thank you Netgalley and booksgosocialgroup for the advanced copy of the book. It is available now!!!
This book is a suspenseful, intriguing and mind-blowing read that hooked me from the very first page. The intricate plot and twisted narrative kept me on the edge of my seat, making it impossible to put down until I figured out the mystery.
The pacing is spot-on, keeping the tension high while introducing unexpected twists and turns that are completely unpredictable.
Also, I love that Philippines was mentioned in the book 🇵🇭💗

My Thoughts💭
It did take me a few tries to fully get into the story. It was an easy read once I got in to it. There were a few times when I predicted the outcome and was shocked at the ending. Morgan is a smart don’t take no crap fmc and I loved her throughout the story. The back stories that were presented were given enough context to fully understand the reasoning why they were mentioned and that made me happy.
I would def give another book a try from this author.

First, I would like to thank the author and NetGalley for providing me with a digital advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
Morgan’s marriage has lost its mojo. Suspecting that her husband, Kyle, is cheating on her and knowing that he has increased their life insurance policies, she is surprised when he books a beach holiday during winter. She decides this is the perfect time to teach him a lesson and find out what he’s been doing. When she discovers blood in the sink and realizes Kyle is missing, she knows she will be the chief suspect even though she was nearly kidnapped herself. As she pieces together the mystery of what happened to Kyle and who would have a motive to kidnap him, protecting herself–from the kidnappers and from being charged–is paramount.
Morgan is a dynamic character. She is no saint, making her really interesting and questionably reliable as a narrator. Each of the characters has their own ulterior motives, and it is never clear who Morgan should trust.
A Little Getaway is marketed as a “spicy suspense thriller,” but it is not spicy at all. Morgan claims they have a “spicy marriage,” but aside from mentioning that they enjoy role-playing, there is no spice at all in the book. Not even fade-to-black. Of course, a book without spice is fine, but it was a misrepresentation of the content. I don’t read many spicy books, but I had been looking forward to seeing how Bonnie Traymore would incorporate the spice in this thriller and felt disappointed when it wasn’t included.
Fast-paced and full of suspense, overall, this twisty whodunnit and its morally grey cast of characters is a quick, fun read.

This was such a fun book to read. It was an amazing suspense novel that had me continually guessing and literally on the edge of my seat. When you think you have the characters figured out…guess again. I definitely recommend this book.
Thank you NetGalley, BooksGoSocial and Bonnie Traymore for this advance copy to read.

3.5⭐️ Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for an advanced copy of A Little Getaway.
Morgan thinks her decade long marriage to Kyle is perfect-they still cannot get enough of one another after all this time. Until he starts to become distant and starts coming home late. She asks her friend Carla to spy on him for her and she sees him meeting a woman at a hotel. Morgan is devastated-then Kyle suggests a weekend away together. But while there her husband goes missing and she is almost kidnapped and that was not how her plan was supposed to play out.
This book was good-some things I was able to figure out and other things did surprise me. Overall I enjoyed the book.

Thank you Netgalley for the advance reader copy!
Solid 3 star read. I wouldn't consider it a spicy read or even a thriller. More of a mystery genre.

This book was okay, it was easy to stick around for as it wasn’t that long. I think the story was well put but spicy suspense is very misleading. Spice is implied more than anything.

A Little Getaway is a thriller where we see a breakdown of a marriage in asecluded beach resort. The story kicks off as Morgan becomes increasingly worried when she can't locate her husband, Kyle. Her anxiety escalates upon discovering blood in the bathroom, leading her to believe something terrible has occurred. While searching for Kyle, Morgan is attacked by a masked assailant but successfully escapes. Furthermore, she learns about a sizable life insurance policy in her name, fueling her concerns that Kyle may intend to harm her.
It’s my first book by Bonnie Traymore and I enjoyed it! It weaves together multiple timelines/POVs, and complex character relationships. The non-linear storytelling gradually exposes the characters' motivations and secrets, adding depth to the mystery and offering an engaging and satisfying read.

This book was such a fast paced read and such a good thriller to read! I couldn’t put this down and finished it within a few hours!
I liked reading from Morgan’s perspective more but it was still a good dual POV.
It was a good spooky read but I wouldn’t say spicy really.
Overall good read thanks netgalley for the arc

I was so excited for this one, but it just didn't live up to it for me. It was not what I consider spicy, it was suspenseful and a fast read but it was just missing something for me.

2.5-Star Review of A Little Getaway by Bonnie Traymore
The Little Getaway offers an intriguing premise with Morgan and Kyle Murphy's marriage at the center of a suspenseful story filled with secrets, suspicions, and betrayal. The plot promises spice, thrills, and twists as Morgan navigates her husband’s shady dealings and increasing distance, leading to a weekend getaway that takes a deadly turn. Unfortunately, while the story is fast-paced and has several twists that will keep readers turning the pages, it ultimately falls short of delivering on its potential.
One of the biggest drawbacks is Morgan herself. Her actions are erratic and often hard to justify, making it difficult to connect with her. While we’re given glimpses of her troubled past, they don’t feel genuine enough to flesh out her character. Morgan seems more focused on repeatedly reminding the reader of how clever and beautiful she is, only to make questionable decisions that make her character frustrating rather than sympathetic. It’s hard to root for her when there’s not much depth beyond the surface.
The story is marketed as a “Spicy Suspense Thriller,” but the spice is noticeably absent. The book talks about it, but it never quite delivers, and the plot feels more like a straightforward mystery than the suspense-filled ride I expected. While the first couple of chapters drew me in, as the story progressed, the plot began to feel unrealistic and a bit disjointed, with too many unbelievable situations.
That said, I enjoyed the perspective of Tara—it was fast-paced and focused more on the mystery, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to lift the book overall. The writing itself is another letdown, feeling rushed and poorly executed in places.
I was genuinely surprised that this book holds an average rating of 3.80 on Goodreads. The plot is mildly interesting, but the writing and character development drag it down. While A Little Getaway is a quick and easy read, it’s not one that will stick with you.
Thank you to Bonnie Traymore, Books Go Social, and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this ARC.

Very fast paced, I read this book in a day. Wouldn't classify it as spicy, so that did make me nervous to read with it being a thriller but I loved it

When I picked this up, I was looking for a thriller to get lost in, and this one did it!
I'm struggling with what to write because I don't want to give anything away, but.... possible cheating, disappearing husband, missing money, unsavory people, and a love for the ages pretty much sums this up. If you're looking for a page turner, give this one a shot!
