This is My Treehouse by Guillaume Gueraud, illustrated by Alfred, is a delightful children's fiction book that is highly recommended for young readers aged 4 to 7. This charming story is not only engaging but also beautifully illustrated, making it a wonderful addition to any child's bookshelf.
One of the standout features of the book is its illustrations. They feel remarkably sophisticated for a children’s book, giving it a timeless, almost classic quality that could easily be appreciated by readers of all ages. The art style is notably influenced by Alfred’s background as a graphic novel artist, and this influence is evident in the dynamic and expressive illustrations throughout the book. The visual storytelling is rich and detailed, with an art style that carries both depth and warmth, ensuring that it resonates with both young readers and adults alike.
A particularly unique aspect of the book is the choice to never show the face of the main character. This decision serves a clever purpose: by keeping the character’s face hidden, the reader is invited to step into the character's shoes and imagine themselves more fully as the protagonist of the story. This creates a personal connection between the reader and the book, allowing children to more deeply immerse themselves in the narrative.
Overall, This is My Treehouse is a beautifully crafted book that combines an engaging narrative with sophisticated illustrations. It encourages imagination and self-reflection while offering a high-quality reading experience that can be enjoyed by both children and adults alike.
I would like to extend my gratitude to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an advance reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I received a copy of this children's book from NetGalley.
This story encourages the use of imagination. Bright colors of the autumn forest are fascinating!
A little kid built a treehouse with the grandfather’s help. The author leads us through a wild imaginative journey when the treehouse is imagined to be a pirate ship on the ocean, a helicopter flying through a storm, a cloud palace, a monster-filled swamp, and much more. It is basically a place to dream and be happy!

This picture book has soft, atmospheric illustrations and simple text that describes the narrator's experience of building a treehouse and imagining different adventures in it. This doesn't have a plot, and it just describes different things that the protagonist likes to do in the treehouse, but it's very sweet.

The illustrations in this picture book are just gorgeous, with such rich, vibrant colors. The story is about a family treehouse and all the adventures the child has, and it's even better because you never fully see the child, so any boy or girl could put themselves into the story. The tone is whimsical and I enjoyed it. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC!
I read this with my 3yo daughter and she enjoyed it. The illustrations are great. The story is fun and imaginative. Great children’s book!

This Is My Treehouse, written by Guillaume Guéraud and illustrated by Alfred is a wonderfully illustrated children’s book with a solid text and a nicely conveyed theme of imagination.
A young child, maybe 10-12, narrates from the treehouse they built, apparently with their grandfather’s help. We never see the child’s face or fully, so any young reader will be able to see themselves in the narrator, a nice touch. The structure follows the pattern of one page describing the reality of the treehouse (it leaks, it’s small, it’s covered with leaves and moss to make it soft, there’s no bathroom or light, etc.) and the ensuing page describing the treehouse and its environs transformed by imagination into a pirate ship on the ocean, a helicopter flying through a storm, a cloud palace, a monster-filled swamp, and more.
The storyline itself is good in the way it encourages one’s use of imagination. The text is I’d say solid if not particularly lyrical or startling, and it can occasionally (not often) feel a bit stilted or flat, though that may be a matter of translation. The artwork, meanwhile, a mix of pencil, watercolor, and ink, is wonderful throughout. Shifting palettes and mediums as needed to convey the bright colors of a gorgeous autumn forest in full leaf or the blue-tinted soft grey of an afternoon rainstorm.
