Seraphina Nova Glass delivers another thrilling, twist-filled mystery in Nothing Ever Happens Here, set in a deceptively quiet Minnesota town where the snow blankets secrets just as easily as streets. After surviving a brutal attack over a year ago, Shelby Dawson is finally starting to feel safe—until the threats return, and it becomes clear her past isn't finished with her. With new evidence emerging, a missing husband, and a group of unexpectedly meddlesome senior citizens who make the case go viral, Shelby is thrown into a race against time to uncover the truth before it’s too late.
I loved this book—largely thanks to the Ole Gang, the ragtag team of senior sleuths who stole the show. I’m a sucker for a group of feisty older characters banding together to solve a mystery, and this cast was funny, resourceful, and totally lovable. The setting was pitch-perfect too—Glass nails that wintry, small-town Minnesota vibe with references to hotdishes, meat raffles, and ice fishing that made the atmosphere feel so vivid and real. The plot was fast-moving and full of surprises, but it was balanced with humor and warmth, which gave it a cozy edge despite the darker subject matter.
The pacing hooked me from the very first scene, and Glass’s writing style is cinematic and immersive. There’s an intricate balance between personal trauma, suspenseful twists, and just the right amount of levity. Even as the mystery unfolded in unexpected ways, the heart of the story remained in its characters—especially the Ole Gang, who truly made this one unforgettable. If you love a thriller with charm, grit, and a band of unconventional heroes.

This was such a good book! I loved all of the characters in the friendships in this book. This was such an interesting story that held my attention and definitely surprised me in the end. I listen to the audiobook and I enjoyed it.

Nothing Ever Happens Here contains an unlikely cast of characters - the last people you would expect in a thriller are a group of elderly retirees! Yet they manage to enrich what is already a compelling and thrilling story. Through the first two acts we remain suspicious of everyone - Mack, the missing Leo, even Shelby's husband Clay. It takes a while for the truth to come into focus, and when it does it hits like a freight train you didn't see coming, in true Seraphina Nova Glass fashion. This is a great popcorn thriller with quite a dark edge to it.

“Nothing Ever Happens Here” by Seraphina Nova Glass is quite the thriller.
There are so many characters that I found myself a little confused at times in a “wait, what?” type of way.
Glass does a great job of creating such a fast paced read filled with twists and turns and I’m honestly looking forward to diving into that backlist after this one.
Thank you to Grayson House for selecting me for the ARC.

This is a terrifying read as the reader is constantly looking over their shoulder trying to dodge the story's killer. This is a twisty and fast read.

Nothing Ever Happens Here is the perfect title for this small-town thriller. I always enjoy Seraphina Nova Glass' books, and this one definitely ranks up there. The twists and turns keep coming with each chapter, and I loved the senior citizens who decide to start trying the break the case open as they post a video online that goes viral. It's a good book that will keep you engaged until the last chapter.
Thank you HTP Books and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Shelby and Mack are best friends who both suffer life changing events on the same night. Shelby survives an attack on her life and Mack’s husband disappears. A year later, neither mystery is solved and in fact more questions begin to surface. Shelby runs an assisted living facility and her residents get involved in solving the mysteries.
I really loved the characters and loved taking a peak into the assisted living. The story caught my attention right away and some aspects made me think of the show Murders in the Building. Seraphina Nova Glass doesn’t disappoint. Thank you to Harlequin Trade Publishing and Grayson House through Net Galley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I raced through this book. I couldn't read it fast enough. The unthinkable happened in a small town, and there was never any closure. That was until residents banded together, created a podcast, and did their own investigation. The storytelling was fantastic, and I can't recommend it enough!

SO GOOD. I love Seraphina's thrillers so much. Fast paced writing that leaves you on the edge of your seat constantly wanting more

I loved this!! This was halfway between a thriller and a cozy mystery for me.
Shelby, recovering from an attack is thrown back into a place of fear and anxiety after finding a strange and threatening message on her car. The tension created in the beginning of the book is truly phenomenal. The snowy setting created a feeling of isolation throughout the book.
However, my favorite part is the group of senior citizens that stepped up to solve the mystery. Their banter, wit, and friendship had me laughing out loud. Each character felt like they each had their own personality and were real people.
This was my first book from Seraphina Nova Glass and it certainly won't be my last.
Thank you to NetGalley and publisher for this ARC!

Thank you to Graydon House for the digital copy to review.
While setting the stage in the beginning I could not figure out how this would all come together, but it did in a way that worked well. The audio was great and I really enjoyed each of the narrators. The pacing was good and it was intense in parts, and I could not put it down once I got started.

Seraphina Nova Glass, one of my most favored authors, has once again delivered a masterpiece of suspense with Nothing Ever Happens Here, a novel that will bury itself under your skin and leave you breathless long after you've turned the final, devastating page.
This isn't just a thriller; it's an experience. Glass lures you into a seemingly tranquil world, where shadows lengthen and secrets fester beneath a veneer of normalcy. But don't be fooled. Beneath the deceptive calm lies a darkness so profound, so chillingly insidious, that you'll find yourself questioning everything and everyone.
Nothing Ever Happens Here is a symphony of dread, a meticulously crafted puzzle box where every piece is a razor-sharp edge designed to keep you teetering on the precipice of revelation. Glass's ability to weave together a tapestry of richly drawn characters, each with their own hidden agendas and buried desires, is simply astonishing. You'll be captivated, horrified, and utterly unable to look away as the truth slowly, agonizingly, comes into focus.
With its relentless pacing, shocking twists, and an atmosphere so thick with mystery you could cut it with a knife, Nothing Ever Happens Here is a breathtaking thriller that will redefine your very definition of suspense. Prepare to be consumed.

Unfortunately this was super hard to read due to the formatting and, for a book like this, you really need to be focused and not distracted.

Seraphina Nova Glass is known for her twists and turns and surprises. I was expecting a lot from Nothing Ever Happens Here. Plus, the title alone has you all kinds of nervous because just when someone says nothing ever happens here is exactly when something happens. It’s like saying “I’ll be right back” in a horror movie. You never come back!
The story actually is split with multiple story lines. There’s Shelby who survived a terrible attack on herself and then there’s Leo, missing husband to friend of Shelby. The guess is that Leo attacked Shelby and that is why he ran, but not everyone thinks that. Then random notes start appearing and you just don’t know who to believe. Glass has this uncanny way of leaving you questioning EVERYONE. I had no idea what to believe. Even the people you are basically reading every page in their perspective you don’t trust. There are a lot of twists and a lot of characters you really want to trust, but are unsure if you should.
My only problem was I would get confused here or there because of the jumping around and not being able to track quickly where we jumped. It wasn’t the end of the world, but it did throw me off a little bit. Not enough to ruin the book though, so I’m okay with that.
While I really like the lead characters, my favorite group in this story is the nursing home of old people. Nothing is better than retired individuals with a lot of time on their hands. They are epically hilarious and really made this story as good as it was. I would love a side story or a flashback story of some of these people to their younger years. I would read that in a second. Such good characters to really build up this story, which may have been slightly more boring otherwise.
I’ve always enjoyed Glass’ writing and I fully plan to pick up more of her books in the future and you should too. You may guess parts of this ending, but you definitely will not guess it all! Grab a copy now!

I had to dnf this after the first chapter. It was too triggering/traumatic for me. I was hoping to enjoy this, but I could not get into it.

I thought this was an original novel! Unique at hand. The stars of the show were the seniors at the living home! They added so much quirks that I couldn't wait to continue reading.

I completely love seraphina and was so excited for this book. A small town thriller very captivating kept me engaged not as good as her other books, but definitely worth the read. I give it about 3.5 stars.

Two intertwining mysteries...with lots of twists. As per usual, I didn't see the ending coming! Fun and fast read.

Thank you NetGalley, Graydon House and Seraphina Nova Glass for letting me read Nothing Ever Happens Here before it’s Feb release!

thank you to netgalley for the e-arc. i should have known from the title what i was in for. literally not much happens here. its a small town story with small town characters and really nothing exciting happens. i also did not like that most chapters were narrated by a different townsperson.
