It had good potential at the beginning but it fell short in my opinion. It still kept me entertained enough to see the outcome but it was just OK.

This was a slower paced thriller told through multiple points of view. Because this was slow paced, I found my mind wandering, and I wished it was faster. I prefer my thrillers to be fast and furious, and this one did not fit that bill. There were also way too many points of view for me to stay focused. I think had things been faster, I would have been able to keep up versus my mind wandering. I did, however, enjoy the underlying story, the deliver just wasn’t to my liking. I think that the author was going for a very suspenseful read but it missed the mark for me. This book was pretty emotionally charged, and I enjoyed that aspect. I also enjoyed the drama, there was so much of it and really why I kept reading. It’s what I was invested in and watched play out.
If you are looking for a slower paced thriller full of drama, then check this one out.

Despite all the 5 star reviews, I really struggled to get Nothing Ever Happens Here.. While the premise was interesting, it moved way too slowly for me. I found it hard to believe the plot and be moved by either of the main characters. While this book by Glass did not work for me, I don't doubt her next one will. I appreciate the ARC

⭐️⭐️⭐️3.8 star. Some positives first, I loved this cover! In the search for “seasonal” reads it looked like what I needed and wanted with it being December at the time of reading. The title also appealed to me and the fact I see this author fairly often on bookstagram.
However, the pacing was off for me in this book. It starts super strong. And at first I was like YES!! I’m hooked but then it slows down and with little bits of excitement spikes along the way. The twists were decent and I enjoyed some of the characters but it seemed fairly character heavy. When that happens I generally don’t hold on to the characters as well. With all that being said I still feel like this book will be for a lot of thriller loving people.
Thank you to @netgalley , @htpbooks , @htp_hive for giving me the opportunity to read this arc!

Nothing Ever Happens Here is one seriously gripping tale of survival and suspense. When she survived a brutal attack, Shelby Dawson attempted to put herself back together only to find in her snowy Minnesota hometown of Spokane a panorama of disconcerting new threats.
Additionally, the dynamic between Shelby and her friend MacKenzie and a surprising twist in the unfolding drama is enhanced by understandably close involvement from local seniors.
Even if the plot seems to be rushing between connected points, it keeps you interested through the two mysteries, Shelby’s assault and Mackenzie’s missing husband, Leo. This novel works on the tension and the friendship, which work well together. Nothing Ever Happens Here is perfect to read if you’re in the mood for a suspenseful story and one that’s very emotionally involved.
Thank you to Harlequin Trade Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

4 solid stars for "Nothing Ever Happens Here" by Seraphina Nova Glass. I've read this author before & found her previous titles to be very solidly plotted thrillers, so was quite happy to get my hands on this one early. In this one my expectations were actually surpassed, as the start was very suspenseful, but the introduction of a group of senior podcasters lightened it up and almost gave it a very welcome & "cozy" type vibe. Really enjoyed it & will look forward to the author's next title. My sincere thanks to Net Galley & the publisher for my advanced readers copy - my pleasure to review it!

Nothing Ever Happens Here by Seraphina Nova Glass has an intriguing premise, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to its potential for me. The story follows Shelby Dawson, a woman who survived a violent attack only to be haunted by new threats and eerie accidents in her small Minnesota town. As she grapples with mounting fear and growing suspicion, secrets about her past—and her best friend Mackenzie’s missing husband—begin to surface. While Glass has a talent for building suspense, the pacing of this novel felt slow, and it often seemed like not much was happening, which made it hard for me to stay engaged. I typically love Glass’s work, but this one didn’t hit the mark. It had all the ingredients for a great thriller, but the execution left me wanting more.

This book had everything I enjoy in a novel: suspense, mystery, and funny old people. Seriously, the light-hearted banter of the old folks in the senior living facility broke up the tension in the book, in a good way. I would have never paired the two, but somehow, Glass makes it work. The drama with each character is so well developed. I felt a connection with each and found myself dedicated to the story. With this book, Seraphina Nova Glass has cemented her position as one of my favorite authors. Thank you so much for the advanced copy, NetGalley and Graydon House. I hope my review encourages readers to discover this wonderfully talented author!

Thank you to Grayson House and Seraphina Nova Glass for the ARC!
Shelby Dawson survives an awful attack that was meant to kill her. Over a year later, with the help of her best friend Mackenzie, she is finally beginning to feel safe again in her hometown. But all of that is threatened to unravel again when an anonymous note appears on her car. Meanwhile, Mackenzie has questions herself - because her husband disappeared the night Shelby was attacked. And at the heart of this mystery is a group of well-meaning senior citizens that try to get to the bottom of things.
I absolutely loved Seraphina Nova Glass’ previous book, so when I heard that we at Thriller Lovers the Pulse were being offered an exclusive early read, I jumped at the opportunity! I think what I enjoy most about Seraphina’s books are the whole cast of characters she writes. Here, the senior citizen group absolutely had my heart! Their love and devotion to Shelby, and the hilarity that ensued as they tried to peruse the internet for clues, was my favorite part. They truly made me wish I was a part of the story (minus the creepy notes and near death experience, that is!) Although I had a pretty good guess early on who was responsible, I was still on the edge of my seat reading this story! Another fabulous thriller by this author.
“Nothing Ever Happens Here” releases February 11, 2025. This review will be shared to my instagram blog (@books_by_the_bottle) shortly :)

This is my second book by this author, and I really enjoy her books. I like her prose and storytelling. Her books are easy to follow whole still stimulating. Her descriptions are fantastic, and anyone who loves a good thriller mystery should be reading her books.

After being attacked in her best friend’s restaurant, Shelby struggles to find the truth of who did that to her with the help of a group of senior citizens whose armchair detective lifestyle is just the thing to help solve the mystery. Her best friend’s husband Leo disappeared that night, prompting Shelby to question everything she thought she knew. 4/5 stars, this book was really good! I absolutely adore this author’s work!

Once again, Seraphina Nova Glass has rocked the thriller of all thrillers! This was a Suspenseful, cliff hanging, page turning, thriller!

I made it through at last!. It was just incredibly slow! Additionally, there were far too many individuals to follow. I was annoyed by it. Some of the irrational behaviors that wouldn't occur in real life also annoyed me. I suppose the plot wasn't too horrible overall, which is why I gave it three stars rather than two. Since I read a lot of books and provide generous evaluations, I can't really attribute it to my mood. I want to be honest, but I feel horrible that I can't give it a higher rating. Thank you for providing this ARC, NetGalley.

I may be an outlier here, but I really struggled to get into this one. I really really like Seraphina's novels, so I was thrilled to see this on here. While the premise was interesting, it moved way too slowly for me. I found it hard to get buy in with the characters and the plot itself. I will always read her books though, so while this one did not work for me, I don't doubt her next one will!

I really enjoy this author's books.
Nothing Ever Happens Here takes place in a small town in Minnesota. It's cold and snowy and not much ever happens. But a year earlier, Shelby was left for dead in a freezer and was found just in time. Her best friend's husband Leo went missing that same night. Most people think it must have been him, but Shelby never saw the man's face. The local police are useless. And now things start happening to Shelby again. It appears that the would be killer is back and after everyone around her. Not only are her daughters at risk, but so are the people in the senior living center she runs.
I really loved the Oleander group. I was more attached to them than Shelby or Mack. They definitely added some humor. I had my killer choices narrowed down to two and was pretty sure on the one. But I wasn't 100% for awhile. This one was very hard to put down at times.
I gave this book 4 1/2 stars. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for my earc.

Unfortunately, I could not get into this story. It was my first time reading this author and I just wasn't feeling it. I did like the elderly characters. I honestly love when books have a cast of nosy neighbors and what not, but that alone couldn't save this book for me.

Unfortunately, I did not enjoy this story. I never got into it and felt like it dragged. It felt as though nothing really ever happened. I did enjoy the elderly cast of characters. They made me laugh.

Title: Nothing Ever Happen Here

My Rating: 3 Stars

Shelby Dawson survives a terrible attack while her two children were left in the car waiting for her.
Shelby and Mackenzie Mack are long-time friends. The night Shelby is attacked inside Mackenzie’s café and left for dead. Mack’s husband Leo disappears.
The police investigation isn’t successful however Shelby works at ‘The Oleander’ an assisted living center and a concerned group of seniors decide to help by starting a podcast about this.
Although I went into this story blind, I had read "The Vacancy in Room 10" by Seraphina Nova Glass. Since I enjoyed it- I was sure it would enjoy this.
Hmmm - I no sooner started and the profanity challenged my tolerance level. I hung in there as the seniors had my attention. Plus my Southern California daughter lives in Minnesota and since we don’t have snow the snowy backdrop increased my curiosity.
Want to thank NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing – Graydon House for this uncorrected text copy.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for February 11, 2025.

3.5⭐️ I really enjoyed the overall plot and mystery of this book and the characters at the Oleander were an absolute riot.
Shelby is attacked one night when she goes back to the cafe her best friend Mack owns and is left for dead. Mack’s husband Leo disappears the same night. Fast forward a year later and Shelby and Mack begin to uncover the truths about Leo’s disappearance and Shelby’s attempted murder. Meanwhile, someone is still out there trying to kill Shelby. The old folks at the Oleander where Shelby works are determined to help Shelby figure out who is trying to hurt her by using a podcast.
This was really just a fun little story. The banter between the characters was hilarious and the plot kept me on the edge of my seat. I guess I was just a bit disappointed by the ending. It wasn’t the twist I was hoping for and then it just fell flat at the end.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Publishing for this advanced copy in exchange for honest review.

"We're all outlaws"
My first book by this Seraphina Nova Glass and after this read I'd definitely try some of her other books.
It was a thriller had me hooked I finished this in a day. I wasn't able to figure out the plot twist and that's always a bonus for me.
Wasn't a solid 5 stars for me only because it seemed like too many characters introduced & some I felt weren't necessary or crucial to the story. Which hard to in result made it harder to keep track of all that was going on.
With that said I'd still reccomend this book.
Thank you NetGalley & Harlequin Trade Publishing for this arc opportunity.
