I really really loved this book! I loved the characters, loved the immediate grab of the plot, and the twists throughout the book. I'm also a sucker for dual POVs, so if you don't like those books, this may not be for you. But, if you like fast paced, quick (under 300 page) thrillers, then this is definitely a book for you! Seraphina Nova Glass did it again!

A year ago, Shelby was violently attacked by a masked intruder at her best friend, Mack’s cafe. That same night, Mack’s husband, Leo disappeared, leaving behind his business ventures and some questionable files. As Mack begins to dig deeper into Leo’s world, Shelby and “the gang,” at the assisted living facility where she works, begin to notice strange happenings. It appears that the attack on Shelby and Mack is not over - hopefully everyone survives it.
This book is told from multiple POVs, but all along the same timeline.
This book is one of those great books that embodies two distinct genres: mystery (because there really is a great and often chilling mystery at its core) and comedy, because, y’all, there were times I was legitimately laughing out loud while reading this. Let me tell you, the residents of the Oleander and Shelby and her twin girls were the true stars of this book, just bringing in some amazing comic relief to this book that had me absolutely rolling. (One example is when the podcast the residents make goes “viral” and they don’t know what that means.)
But you can’t forget about the mystery, which is also really good. There were plenty of red herrings, twists and suspense to keep me reading and guessing all along the way. There’s also a lot of small town politics going on, which adds an extra dimension to things. And having grown up in a small town, the author nails that aspect.
This wasn’t my first book by Seraphina Nova Glass, and it was yet another winner from her.
I would encourage anyone to pick this one up and then check out her other books. I haven’t been disappointed yet, and I don’t think you will be either.

Thank you to NetGalley, Seraphina Nova Glass and St Martin’s Press for the free ebook in exchange for an honest review.
I don’t really know how I feel about this. The premise is good and I felt very invested once we got half way and had more characters involved in trying to solve this crime. It has decent twists but the pacing was just off.

I am always interested in a new story from Seraphina Nova Glass, and this may be my favorite yet. A quintessential winter mystery set in northern Minnesota, the book captures the isolation and quiet tension of a snow-covered small town. Shelby Dawson is trying to rebuild her life after a brutal attack, but when threatening notes start appearing on her windshield, her fragile sense of safety shatters completely. At the Oleander assisted living facility, a group of seniors becomes unexpectedly central to her story. Florence leads the charge, transforming local gossip into a viral podcast investigation. Their involvement isn't just comic relief—it's a really neat exploration of how marginal voices can drive a narrative, as these seniors bring collective wisdom, stubborn determination, and an outsider's perspective to Shelby's desperate situation. The multiple perspectives could have felt disjointed, but Glass weaves them together through a shared sense of uncertainty. Mackenzie's mysterious missing husband, Shelby's ongoing threat, and the seniors' investigation create a web of tension that keeps things moving along. Set against the cold, isolating backdrop of Minnesota, the story explores how community—in all its messy, imperfect forms—can be a lifeline. The bad guy is almost comically predictable, but there's something oddly satisfying about that predictability—it's part of the book's cozy, hygge-like charm. I found myself completely caught up in the ride.

I enjoyed this "cozy mystery". I think my favorite was Florence and the other residents rallying together to figure out what is going on in the town. In the first chapter Shelby is assaulted and traumatized by an attack. The very same night Mackenzie's husband, Leo, goes missing. Months later Otto passes away in the hospital, but was it of natural causes? You'll have to read it to find out!

Nothing Ever Happens Here is a blend of small-town cozy mystery and a twisty suspense! It started in a dark place when Shelby is attacked at her best friend Mack’s restaurant and then veers into cozy territory when we are introduced to senior citizens turned amateur sleuths. I appreciated the levity of the scenes at the Senior Home, but I do feel like we were trying to solve a few too many mysteries. This was my first by Seraphina Nova Glass, I have heard her other thrillers may be more my speed (darker!) I will definitely try her other books!

What a great read! It began with a really thrilling intensity and kept it up throughout the entire story.
Shelby survives an experience like no other at the beginning of the story. Stuff nightmares are made of and her attacker made a big threat towards her before he fled. A year later and she finds a note reminiscent of what she was threatened with. So begins a thrilling and scary cat and mouse game that attempts to make Shelby out to be the bad guy. The seniors that live in her senior citizens home called Oleander get involved in a podcast to try their hand at being detectives.
I really enjoyed this suspense filled drama. The addition of the seniors really made this novel come to life. Their personalities shined and though laughs were had at their thoughts, the story was creepy and intense. Very well written and made for an exciting reading experience. 4️⃣⭐️❗️

Posted a feature on my instagram account as to not leave a poor review on my feed.
I wasnt a big fan of this one. I found it somewhat slow and cant recommend it. I wasn't crazy about the audio narration of this one either. I would recommend On a Quiet Street or The Vacancy in Room 10 if you want to read something from this author instead.
Thank you to HTP books for my audio and digital copy.

Unfortunately this one fell very flat for me. It started out so good and instantly hooked me, but then nothing ever happens. I wanted to love it so I stuck with it because I love this author and thought there may be a spark, but no there never was. I was so annoyed with the characters and couldn’t wait for this to end.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this eArc of Nothing Ever Happens Here. Although this one didn’t work for me I have loved every other book the author has written.

Normally, I absolutely ADORE Seraphina's novels, but this one just didn't really do it for me. I think it's just me. I still enjoyed it, just didn't 'love' it. However, I did love the TWISTED ending, i was not expecting that at all! There were several surprises that actually did surprise me. Looking forward to more reads from this author, and I probably will give it another go at a later date.

The snowy Minnesota setting made this the perfect winter read. I didn't love this as much as On A Quiet Street, but it was still a very good thriller! There were, in my opinion, too many pov's and characters to keep track of, but I enjoyed the suspense and twists!

I’m here today as part of the HTP winter blog tour, dishing about a new suspenseful thriller: Nothing Ever Happens Here. So, of course, a lot IS happening in this novel, from murder to missing persons to kidnappings to stolen items. There were a lot of characters and a lot of motives and it definitely kept me guessing. I kept thinking as I read that this would make a good limited series on Netflix. My challenge while reading was keeping everyone and their motives straight, but overall this was an edge-of-your-seat thriller!
Thank you so much for my copy and for making me part of the tour!

There's a reason why so many people enjoy living in small towns. They're safe. They're wholesome and it's a great place to grow up, or raise your own children. Shelby and Mack are best friends who still live in the small town they grew up in. Both are successful business women and have their own families. Life is steady and good.
That is until Shelby is viciously attacked, barely surviving the incident, and on that same night Mack's husband, Leo, also goes missing. This event shook the town. People were understandably shocked and disturbed. How could this happen here? Nothing ever happens here...
Honestly, this is all I want to say about this plot. I always look forward to new releases from Seraphina Nova Glass, because she always ends up surprising me. I'm never sure what I'm going to get.
I feel like for some Mystery-Thriller authors, they have a bit of a formula, and you know when you are reading their books that it's one of theirs, because there is such a specific style. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that. In fact, some of my favorite authors I would say this about. A great example, IMO, being the great Agatha Christie.
For SNG though, I don't really feel that. This also isn't a bad thing. Neither way is better than the other. I feel like her stories, the tone, the way they're told, have really run the gamut for me. I loved the unique perspectives in this one. We get Shelby and Mack, of course, but we also get the perspective of an elderly woman named, Florence, who lives at a care home that both Shelby and Mack are involved with. I love getting older perspectives. I say older, but by that I just mean older than what we, on average, tend to get in fiction, and I completely loved Florence.
This book grabbed me from the start. By 10% in, I was hooked. I felt like the opening was so powerful and intriguing that it's going to stick in my mind for a long time. I didn't know what to think. I did find Shelby and Mack a bit interchangeable at the start, NGL. I struggled at times to tell them apart, but that worked itself out the further along I got in the story.
The residents of the care home though, were all distinct and such a joy to read about. The time spent with them was honestly my favorite bits.
Another thing I loved about this was the setting and the climate. This story is set in Minnesota, entirely during the winter months. The snow and teeth-chattering cold play a huge role in the action. It's absolutely perfect for Winter reading. This entire story made me feel cold. I'm not joking. I could feel it. Make sure you have a nice warm blanket and hot drink at the ready when picking this one up!
Overall, I had a blast with Nothing Ever Happens Here. It's such an intensely-OTT, wildly-wicked good time, and boy, oh boy, did it get my pulse racing towards the end. Florence and Herb are absolute dolls. I love them both and their friendship so much. Goals.
Thank you to Graydon House, for providing me with a copy to read and review. As mentioned, I love Seraphina Nova Glass and always look forward to her latest work

Nothing Ever Happens here by Seraphina Nova Glass
Genre: Thriller
Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Missing husband. Attempt for murder. Missing money. Suspenseful deaths.👀
This second book for me by this author and again a great thriller! 😝💃 This book is a fast paced mystery/thriller set in a small town with multiple POVs. The best element of the book was group of elderly people from retiring house helping to solve rise of a crime. I loved their dialogues and jokes😁.
It was fun read and I didn’t guess the twist. 😝✨💃
Thank you @htp_hive for the gifted ARC!

I’ve been needing an excellent thriller and this new one from Seraphina Nova Glass absolutely delivered. I loved that it was all told from the view of the female characters, I loved the red herrings, I loved the twists and turns. This is a top notch thriller and I highly recommend.
Fifteen months ago, Mack (the owner of a local cafe) and Shelby (her bff and the women who runs the local retirement home) were struck by a dual tragedy… Shelby was almost killed by a break in to Mack’s cafe and Mack’s husband went missing. It’s clear these two things have something to do with each other, but no one knows what it is. And now, things are happening again… Shelby and her family are being targeted, Mack is finding Leo’s things and finding out new information. So together, with a group of retirees they decide to get to the bottom of things themselves. But they may just be putting themselves in harms way…
Ok first of all, inclusion of retirees trying to solve crime with a true crime podcast?! Hilarious, genius, loved it, only murder in the building vibes. But the tension and fear and likelihood that any character could die at any moment, also so good. This was unputdownable and so twisty. Definitely high on my thriller love list

Looking for a cozy, comfortable thriller told in multiple POVS, Nothing Ever Happens Here is for you. The storyline follows Shelby who was attacked and left for dead 15 months earlier. She is now receiving anonymous notes on her windshield. Is it the same attacker? Garnering the attention from some senior citizens in a care resident, the story goes viral asking the question “who will be next”.
The senior citizens are adorable and add a good flair to the story, but overall, I felt the story fell a little flat for me.
Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for my ARC in exchange for my thoughts.

Thank you @htp_hive, @htpbooks and @netgalley for both my e-ARC and ALC of Nothing Ever Happens Here by Seraphina Nova Glass! Last year, I read On A Quiet Street by the author and LOVED it, so I was excited to check out another title by her.
Shelby was attacked at her friend Mack and Leo’s restaurant and left for dead, but she is saved just in time and survives. Fifteen months later, Shelby is focused on moving forward with life for herself, her husband, and two young daughters- until she starts receiving threatening messages that appear to be from her attacker. Mack’s husband Leo has also been missing since the night of the attack and Mack is a mess over both the loss/disappearance of her husband and the mess that Leo left behind for her. Shelby and Mack are trying to put together the pieces from that night to figure out what happened to Leo and who is trying to hurt Shelby- with very little help from the police and allllll the help of the senior citizen residents of The Oleander, an assisted living facility that Shelby manages.
There were elements of this novel that I enjoyed such as the pacing and multiple POVs, but I especially loved the endearing cast of characters at The Oleander- the true stars of the novel! However, it seemed like this was two different books merged into one. In some ways, it was a dark, twisty thriller, which I always love (and it was definitely dark!), but in other ways this book read as a cozy mystery with the humor and focus on the senior citizen sleuths at The Oleander. I think the book had the opportunity to successfully go in one direction, but in trying to accomplish both it seemed a little disjointed and in a bit of an identity crisis over what it wanted to be. The ending was also a bit of a stretch and appeared to tie up a little *too* nicely. I did really enjoy On A Quiet Street and would still be interested in checking out another title by the author, but this one was just a miss for me.

This was a fast-paced story, but lacked twists and suspense. The characters and multi-POV were ok, but overall the plot and especially the ending were lackluster.
I loved the first book I read by this author, so this may just not have connected with me personally. I will definitely check out her other work.
Thank you to Harlequin Trade Publishing and NetGalley for the advanced copy!

This book had me hooked from the start! The three POVs worked perfectly, adding layers to the story and keeping the tension high. The mystery was well-crafted, and the eerie, suspenseful atmosphere made it impossible to put down. Every twist had me on edge, and I loved how the small-town setting played into the plot.
However, while this was a 5-star read for me for most of the book, the ending felt rushed. After such a gripping buildup, I wanted more time to process the reveal and its aftermath. It wrapped up too quickly, leaving me wishing for a bit more depth in the resolution.
That said, I definitely still recommend this one! The suspense, the twists, and the engaging characters make it a must-read for mystery and thriller fans.
Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I'm this wintry take, Shelby Dawson survived an attack that should have killed her. Fifteen months later, she’s rebuilding her life—until a note appears with the same threat her attacker made. Suddenly, she’s back in a nightmare that won’t let go. As strange accidents pile up and new evidence resurfaces, Shelby starts asking the same question as everyone else: Who attacked her that night? And what really happened to her best friend’s missing husband?
Going in, I expected a pulse-pounding thriller based on the style of cover, but what I got was something different—slower, cozier, and unexpectedly funny in places. The senior citizens who accidentally make Shelby’s case go viral were my favorite part. Their banter had the charm of a small-town sitcom, but their involvement in the mystery was surprisingly crucial. It gave the book a unique balance between dark suspense and lighthearted mischief.
That said, the pacing leans toward a slow burn, which might not work for readers expecting nonstop tension. The story takes its time unraveling, but if you enjoy mysteries that feel like a mix of Only Murders in the Building and small-town drama, this one might be for you.
Overall, this was a mystery that subverts expectations—less high-octane thriller, more small-town suspense with an endearing (and meddling) supporting cast. If you like your mysteries with a touch of cozy and a dash of dark humor, you’ll enjoy this one.
