This book was an enjoyable read with a fun mix of romance, magic, murder, and vampires.

Their banter was humorous, with some spicy tension. The murder mystery and book club subplot kept things engaging, and the spooky, small-town vibe gave the story extra coziness and charm.

That said, the book felt longer than necessary, with some pacing issues and a few overused tropes. While Alaric’s character kept things going, it took a while for the plot to pick up. Overall, it was a solid read with enjoyable moments, especially if you like paranormal romance with a bit of mystery.

This books was such a fun and easy read! The plot was fun and the characters were so entertaining I laughed so much. It was the perfect book to pick up if you need something in between all your horror reads and need something spooky but fun! Will definitely be recommending this to my bookclub.

Loved this. It was fun and face paced. The characters were relatable and weren't perfect which made them that much more charming.

A fun supernatural romance. I liked the concept of a vampire with hoarding tendencies hiring a professional organizer to fix up his castle before a ball, and I liked the characters’ interactions as they slowly started to fall for each other. There’s a few too many side characters that distract from the main story, and I didn’t realize this was part of a series. I really liked Alaric as the brooding, ceramics making vampire, and Reginald was a treat as his hot chocolate making butler.

DNF @ 42%. I'm just not super into the story, which is wild coming from someone who loves a vampire romance. I feel like certain things are happening too soon, which makes me wonder what's left when I'm not even halfway through it. I'm not a big fan of the writing either. My interest isn't completely lost, though - I would consider picking this up again at a later time. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC.

Easy 5⭐️ for me!!

The premise of Fangs for Nothing is very unique! Which is a rare statement these days. I found myself audibly giggling and kicking my feet while reading!

Winnie is such a relatable likeable character, I loved her personality and the one liners delivered by herself, Alaric and others were hilarious!!

I adore mixed media books, the text messages/chats between characters is an interesting way to show other characters perspectives on things.

I will be eagerly awaiting the next book, I cannot wait to see where the story goes and how the threads that have been woven will unravel!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review for "Fangs for Nothing" by Steffanie Holmes

Fangs for Nothing is a delightfully spooky read that’s perfect for the Halloween season! Steffanie Holmes blends humour, mystery, and just the right amount of supernatural charm in this vampire-filled adventure. The characters are quirky and fun, and the plot keeps you guessing with its twists and turns. If you're looking for a lighthearted yet thrilling read to get into the spooky spirit, this book is definitely a great pick!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and the author for providing me for an ARC in exchange for my honest review!
This book was SO good, you guys. I loved this book SO MUCH. The leads are so fun and work so well together. Winnie is an extremely compelling FMC, with a complex life and struggles that draw the reader in. She has a clear character and a clear arc, which is sorely lacking from many romance novels these days, in my opinion. She also makes the perfect foil to Alaric, who was such a breath of fresh air for a male protagonist! He’s a little quirky and awkward, but not in a way that is so overly done that he feels like just a trope fulfillment. He has clear interests, is utterly devoted to Winnie, and, frankly, he’s hot af! Both of them were just such a joy to read. I loved their characters alone and their chemistry together. No notes, 10/10, I was kicking my feet up and giggling the entire time.
I also thought the side characters, especially the entire “Smutty Book Club” characters were extremely interesting, and I can’t wait to explore them further! All of the side characters and side plots were wonderful and engaging.
Overall, this was a great, refreshing, perfectly engaging and spooky read. It balances out humor, heart, heaviness, and romance perfectly, and I’m so excited to read more from this author in the future!

This book was utterly delightful! I was looking for a cozy read for Autumn and "Fangs for Nothing" didn't disappoint. Winnie and Alaric's relationship was something I look for in a lot of my romance reads and I also liked how Steffanie Holmes approached the topic of hoarding by showcasing how family members and loved ones are affected, it was something I didn't anticipate with this novel. I most assuredly will be getting the sequel when it comes out!

Thank you to NetGalley and Victory Editing for this ARC!

The cover of this book really drew me in, I loved the purple and who doesn’t live a book about vampires!
I feel like this part of a wider set of books with more background about the characters but I felt I could follow it fairly easily and it was a good book to read around Halloween. The plot flows really well and I read it within a couple of days, the characters were likeable and I enjoyed the relationships between them. Winnie’s ptsd from her mothers hoarding was handled well and focused on the effects it can have one someone even though the rest of the book was quite light hearted. The background and history to the vampire families is well thought out and I did download more of this authors books once I finished this one. Probably a solid 4 stars

Overall, I thought this was a fun read. I am not usually a vampire book girl (other than Bride, I don’t think I’ve read a vampire book since Twilight in the late aughts), but it was interesting and nuanced and the human story of it all (the FMC’s trauma) rang true. I would have appreciated some editing — 600 pages was WAY too long — and I didn’t find the resolution particularly satisfying.

I would like to thank NetGalley for allowing me to read & review this book!

First of all, I will admit I was apprehensive and a little worried when I picked up this book. I was intrigued by the cover and the punny title, but I don't usually read anything that can be described as "kooky" or "funky", let alone contemporary.

And yet... This book surpassed all of my expectations. Besides the occasional cringy joke or too-precisely-dated reference (Sleep Token, HiSmile toothpaste of all things?) it is a heartfelt, sweet story about dealing with grief and processing really complex mental health issues, which was both heartwarming and fascinating to see. Every character in the story is fully fleshed out with distinct voices and personalities, and I have literally never found it easier to root for characters, both individually and as part of a romance.

This story is so unserious and stupid (affectionately) at times, and yet so on-the-nose and heartwarming. The spice and the romance deliver on the same level as the paranormal story, the murder mystery and the character's individual development - it is an instantaneous rec from me for anyone searching for a silly romcom with surprising depth.

I did not want this book to end! I enjoyed everything about it. All of the characters were interesting, there was just the correct amount of conflict or tribulation, and the spice was nice! I will definitely read Fangs for Nothing again, and the many others in the series that I can only hope for!

If you're looking for a spicy supernatural rom-com with a lot of heart and a smutty book club that also investigates murder- this is for you! I enjoyed every page- truly could not put it down.

Part romance, mystery, and paranormal, Fangs For Nothing is a laugh-out-loud romcom that is steamy as it is funny. The romance is slow-burn (at least for me), but I found it really satisfying; I really like the chemistry of Winifred and Alaric. The side characters are fun too particularly the quirky members of the book club. My only concern is the fact that some characters, the one you'd thought to be important to the story, fell short for me. Another thing that fell short to me was the mystery. It kind of read like an afterthought for me and somehow kind of forgotten about it.

OMG I loved it. I enjoyed everything about it. It was an easy fun read that reminded me of another series I loved and it made me want to read more Steffanie Holmes so I went straight off and bought the books for her other series Nevermore Bookshop.

I literally cannot wait to read more of her writings.

This book just had it all for me. Danger, Romance, making friends, finding your home. It was just a really nice read.

Its the perfect book to curl up with your fur baby, a mug of tea, coffee or hot chocolate in front of a roaring fire and ignore the world around you.

Winnie is a professional organiser and she organises peoples house and their various collections. She is appointed by Lord Alaric's assistant to organise his castle for the upcoming ball. The castle is on the outskirts of a small town and it's very gothic. There's very little electricity, like literally candelabras are used in corridors, and it's stuffed with Aleric's different hobbies like stuffed bears, paintings, rugs, swords, etc.
We see Winnie helping Alaric to organise things and them bonding while they spend time together. her mom was a hoarder which was exactly why she became a professional organiser to help others to keep their spaces neat, clean and organised. Alaric likes Winnie but vampire - human relationship is not accepted in their community so he is trying to suppress his feelings for Winnie.
I appreciate that the book was not a typical rom com book, the trajectory of them getting together was very realistic, but at the same time I got a bit bored around 50-60 % of the book.
The murder mystery was interesting and I didnt expect the plot twist so it pleasantly surprised me.
There is also a cozy book club which has a lot of quirky members and I can't wait to read each of their stories.
I would recommend it to those who love
Small town
Vampire romance
amazing friend group
gothic vibes

If Discovery of Witches was a rom-com...Obsessed!!

If you need a spooky kooky read, a paranormal fantasy to laugh out loud too while curling up under a fuzzy blanket that sometimes makes your toes curl to... look no further!!

I LOVED Fangs for Nothing, and I cannot wait for the next book to come out in the Nevermore Murder Club and Smutty Book Coven (just the best name for a series). This series is tied to a previous series by Steffanie Holmes called the Nevermore Bookshop Mysteries. I had not read that series prior to this and will say it contains some minor spoilers for that series, and you can feel a little out of the loop if you haven't read the previous series but it is not necessary. I am absolutely going to go and read that previous series now while I wait in anticipation to the next book in TNMCASBC - i am going to need to figure out a shorter way to put that.

Winny was sarcastic yet bubbly, a rarely seen combination and Alaric a wonderful combination of vulnerable and strong. While I have limited knowledge of the particular mental illness covered in Fangs for Nothing I thought Steffanie did a wonderful empathetic portrayal of how it affects both loved ones and those with the disorder while also imbuing the story with hope for change.

Did I mention the vampire bitey spice?? the laught out loud elements, and the references throughout the story for smutty book lovers to smirk at?

Go read this

Fangs for Nothing is a book 1 that nicely wraps up Alaric and Winny's stories while leaving some loose threads to be wound into the next story...Which I believe will be Arabella and Gideon's story!!

* Vampire x Human
* Mental Illness Rep
* Happily For Now

This completely delivered on the goofy, spooky, vampire romance, while also being an exceptionally fun read for the spooky/fall season. The characters have depth and are a joy to read about and I would recommend this to anyone who wants a goofy paranormal romance with serious topics mixed in. The side characters and their murder club/book coven made the book even better. I need to know what really happened though!! I cannot wait to read book 2.

"I'm afraid if I open my mouth, I'll accuse him of being a vampire.
Or I'll leap on him and climb him like a haunted treehouse.
It's one or the other."

I didn’t know I needed a book where the undead have such... personality! The story had my heart bursting and breaking for all the right reasons.

Alaric won my heart immediately. He likes glitter and crafts for goodness sake!! His sarcastic banter had me cackling like a villain in my own evil lair.

The neurodiversity representation really was well done and appreciated by this neurospicy girl! I really fell in love with the world and think everyone should go for a visit. If you’re looking for a lighthearted vampire read that still has bite (pun intended), this one’s for you.

Curl up with this book, get yourself a cup of Reginald's hot chocolate and a membership at the Nevermore Murder Club & Smutty Book Coven.
