About Last Night was a super quick read, based on a DJ and a businessman who accidentally becomes her boss after they hook up.

While this book had potential, it felt super rushed to me, so I didn’t feel like I got to know the characters, and it was very insta-lovey. I think with some more pages and time with this (and maybe more of a slow burn by keeping them enemies for longer), this could’ve been a really good book!

this was good; very easy quick read that you wanted to keep reading, but it was too fast paced for me and I would've def punched Tristan irl

Funny, poignant, endearing characters, a good spattering of relatable everyday truths, a few unexpected plot twists . . . everything a good book should be! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“For the first time in a long time she felt empowered and sexy and alive. She needed this right now. So badly”

Did I get exactly what I wanted in this spicy and funny and romantic romcom story? Absolutely!!! Boss romance, one night stand, forced proximity, workplace romance and an undeniable pull these characters are feeling. Exactly my cup of tea. I had so much fun getting through Lulu and Tristan’s story and honestly their dynamic was hilarious. The book is short enough to make the narrative interesting without sounding boring. I could read about them and have the best time, without feeling like the pages were too many or the story repetitive. It was a good combination of short time, fun time. Plus, there is something about Lulu that draws you in. I don’t know if it is the fact that she is an introverted woman trying and pretending to be outdoorsy and a partygoers when in truth, she is made for cozy movies and a night in. Or simply the fact that, as many others, she was attracted by guys that would have eventually have a path that felt incompatible to hers. And when Tristan comes in the picture … oh boy, did she have a great time!!! I enjoyed their dynamic and some of the banter that was there and the possibility of another story like this is … really exciting!!!

“In a shocking moment of clarity, she realised that this was always going to happen. She’d been kidding herself this whole time”

I liked the writing style. It was so straightforward, no fluff or unnecessary descriptions just to bulk up the pages which, after my last read, was ''such'' a breath of fresh air!. The pacing was perfect, and the balance of intimate moments was spot on. It’s a short, easy read that I finished in a few hours.

Tristan meet Lu in a London pub while preparing to fire a DJ, Tallulah, at his dad's radio station that the boss there has sexually harassed. Lu has a career deciding meeting in the morning but wants to blow off steam and happens to find Tristan more than willing.
Turns out Lu is Tallulah and that meeting doesn't end very well for either of them the night after...

Unfortunately this romance didn't work for me. I didn't like the characters at all, or the writing style or the 'sense of humour' the author tries to achieve here.
I believe more experienced romance readers might enjoy this book a lot more than I did.

I loved this so much!
The characters were loveable and relatable. The banter between the two was perfect and made me laugh out loud at some points (see slamming door in face post job offer)
This was a joy to read.

"About Last Night" by Christy McKellen left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. The story had potential with its London setting and radio DJ protagonist, Lula, but it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The plot felt disjointed, jumping between chick-lit vibes and heavier topics like difficult childhoods, without really connecting them smoothly.

Tristan, the male lead, didn't win me over, especially with how he handled Lula's situation at work. His rash decisions and poor treatment of her early on made it hard to root for their romance. Though I appreciated his creative apology towards the end, it wasn’t enough to redeem him in my eyes.

Lula, on the other hand, had some great qualities. She’s brave, determined, and knows what she wants. However, the rushed nature of the story didn’t give her character, or their relationship, much room to grow. There was plenty of chemistry, but not much emotional depth to back it up.

In the end, this book is more about the short and spicy rather than a deeper romance. If you’re looking for a quick, light office romance, it might be worth a read. However, for me, it was just okay—entertaining but forgettable. Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC.

About Last Night by Christy McKellen is a delightful romance novel filled with charm, wit, and emotional depth that kept me captivated from start to finish. The banter between the characters, the intricacies of the plot, and the well-developed personalities all contributed to making this book a truly enjoyable read. McKellen's writing style is top-notch, and I found myself completely engrossed in the story. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a heartwarming and engaging romance novel.

I liked this book. It was a quick and predictable read with likeable main characters. If you want something to read by the pool that’s quick and easy to indulge in, then this is the book. I feel like it had a lot of potential and just missed the grit.

Radio DJ Lula Lazenby is usually very quite and laid back and never lets out her wild side, however after having enough of being cautious she decides to pretend to be Louise for the night whilst our with her friends, and do everything she wouldn't normally do. After spending the night with the hunky Tristan Bamfield she is mortified to realise that he is actually her bosses son and has only come to the station to fire her.

I read this book whilst on holiday and it was the perfect rom-com for lazing around in the sun. The book is very funny and the characters really relatable and likeable. This is the first book I have read by the author but I will definitely be looking out for her in the future. This book ticked every box for me on what I like in a romance.

** spoiler alert ** OMG this is such a fun cute story. Classic rom com with some spice!! I enjoyed the quick pace of the book, and the female main character is just hilarious. I liked how it goes spicy right off the bat but then had a slow burn the rest of the book. I look forward to other books by this author.

I gave this book 3 and a half stars ⭐

I thought it was a really cute and short read. It was very easy and quick to get through as well.

For a short story, it had a bit of everything. It was written really well, with sprinkles of romance and drama all round up into one.

I had no trouble getting through this read, and I'm left feeling quite satisfied for a book that's less than 150 pages.

Overall, a good read if you're looking for a palate cleanser or a pick-me-up ❤️

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc! Okay this was really cute. It started out strong, I was immediately hooked from the banter/chemistry between Lula and Tristian. And I was living for the tension between them on the first night they met at the bar. I will say it did get slightly repetitive towards the end and I also feel like it moved so fast even for a romance book. I mean Tristian was proposing after a month and I feel like they barely knew eachother. But overall enjoyed this one, giving this 3/5 stars.

Sometimes you just want a book that is short and sweet! Between heavier reads, this is a great rom/com that could be read in one sitting. I probably wouldn’t reread, but I enjoyed it as a whole knowing that it was going to be an insta-love, fast paced story.

A short romcom book. Easy read. You know from the start where this is going, and ultimately where it will end up. Probably, read definitely, not PC as far as far any HR officer or lawyer would be concerned in the real world. But as a bit of fiction, enjoyable reading to pass a few hours. “𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘴𝘵, 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘧𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘩𝘦’𝘥 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘮𝘦𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘩𝘦𝘳.“

A one night stand turns into chaos when Tristan, a hot successful, but a little arrogant, businessman, finds out that the woman he spent an unforgettable night with is the same woman he has to fire as a favor to his father. Sweet, but strong and independent, Lula doesn’t let a guy, especially not dreamy Tristan, to walk all over her. When Tristan regrets firing Lula, she makes it close to impossible to convince her to work for him again. After a grand gesture, she accepts his job offer. They think they can have a normal boss-employee relationship and put their sizzling night in the past, but the more time they spend together, the harder it is to keep their hands off each other. Despite their strong chemistry, they both want entirely different things in life and deep down they know they aren’t meant to be.

I couldn’t put the book down! The banter, the plot, the characters, the writing was all *chefs kiss*

Tristan is trying to get over a messy breakup when a sexy brunette catches his eye and his life turns 180. He initially was only supposed to be in London for a few days, but that changes when he starts liking his new job and starts falling for a diligent brunette.

Lula knows what she wants in life and doesn’t shy away when faced with a challenge, especially a challenge like Tristan. He makes her crazy in every way, but after being let down by all her past relationships, she refuses to start something with him knowing that it’ll only end in heartbreak.

Reading about a man falling in love is my kryptonite. They both fall simultaneously for each other, but Tristan falls harder.

The characters are so perfectly written that I have no notes. The plot was so smooth and although there were some cliches here and there, they didn’t overshadow the story. I hate miscommunication, but they both had bad role models and awful past relationships that prevented them from being more open about their feelings, which is why I let the minor trope slide.

I’m really glad I read it and I can’t wait to read more of her work!
