This was a brutal, haunting, heartbreaking story based on the despicable event of the Mountain Meadows Massacre. I wasn't aware of this and I was angry and sad and disgusted this could happen. Noelle West Ihli writes in such a beautiful yet tragic way. You can't help but feel the pain and fear and heartache of her characters. As a mother, this was very emotional to read and made me very grateful for the safety and health of my children. The list of people affected by this tragedy was shocking. Thank you to Noelle for writing such a beautiful book about such a difficult subject.

None Left to Tell had me hooked from the very first page. The tension is perfectly paced, the twists genuinely shocked me, and the characters felt real—flawed, layered, and hauntingly relatable. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, the story veered in a direction I never saw coming. This is the kind of thriller that lingers with you long after the final chapter. If you love a dark, smart, and gripping mystery, do yourself a favor and read this book. One of the best thrillers I’ve read all year!

This being my very first Noelle West Ihli book, I was caught off-guard by it being essentially a historical fiction novel. I had heard she was a great thriller writer, so that is what I was expecting. It took me a while to get into this one as it was not really a thriller at all. Instead it was a speculative fiction story about a true event that I had never heard about before: The Mountain Meadows Massacre. Once I finally settled into the fact that the book was not what I had expected, I started to enjoy the different POVs that were offered by three different females of different groups in the story. The most shocking thing to me was how vicious the Mormon's were in this event. My limited knowledge of modern day Mormonism is that it is a pretty peaceful religion. I was genuinely shocked to learn of such a violent period in the religion's history. I would recommend None Left to Tell to anyone who loves historical fiction based on factual events.

In her latest offering, Noelle West Ihli masterfully blurs the lines between historical fiction and thriller, delivering a narrative that is as heart-pounding as it is profoundly moving. While the initial pace might be a gentle current, trust that it builds to a torrent of thrilling moments and scenes that will undoubtedly bring you to tears.
A Tapestry of Courage and Hardship
Ihli sets her deeply researched narrative against the harrowing backdrop of the 1857 Mountain Meadows Massacre, introducing us to three unforgettable women whose paths intertwine amidst unimaginable adversity:
* Lucy, haunted by the echoes of past persecution, stands defiant. Ten years after anti-Mormon mobs drove her family from Illinois, rumors of their return to Utah ignite a fierce resolve within her to finally make a stand.
* Katrina, a young mother of four, embarks on the arduous journey west, unknowingly stepping into a maelstrom of chaos. Her unwavering determination to shield her family from peril pushes her to the absolute limits of her endurance.
* Sally, navigating the isolating reality of being a fourth wife, strives to find agency in a life not of her choosing. Yet, when her husband becomes entangled with a vengeful faction, Sally is forced to confront agonizing choices about her allegiances and, ultimately, her very survival.
Beyond the Pages: A Historical Reckoning
It's clear that Ihli poured her soul into this story. The meticulous attention to historical detail is remarkable, creating a vivid and unflinching portrayal of a tragic chapter in American history often overlooked. This isn't just a novel; it's a poignant exploration of resilience, loyalty, and the devastating consequences of prejudice.
While the story eases into its stride, the profound emotional depth and powerful themes quickly elevate it to a must-read. Noelle West Ihli has once again crafted a truly captivating novel—one that is both exceptionally special and deeply touching, leaving a lasting impression and encouraging vital reflection on a historical event that deserves broader recognition.
Have you ever read a book that made you want to learn more about the historical event it depicted?

Not like any book I have read.
I knew nothing about this event before reading the book and found it was depicted very respectfully. You can clearly tell how well researched the book is.

This isn’t a typical genre I read but I love Noelle W. Ihli. I decided to give it a go and I am glad that I did. It was a little difficult for me to get into at first but overall very happy with the read

Growing up Mormon, I had no idea about the Mountain Meadows Massacre. It wasn't until I was an adult that I found out the horrifying truth about what happened. This book was beautifully written, and I love the way that the true history was woven into the story of these brave characters. There was incredible character development, and even though the plot is heartbreaking, I think that everything wrapped up so beautifully in the end. Such a fantastic book with so much heart put into it. Definitely recommend this book to everyone, even if you aren't Mormon.
However, I think this should be a must-read for Mormons - history is important, and this is an entertaining (?) way of putting yourself in those ancestor's shoes.

Absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. Everything exceeded my expectations — the quality, the service, and the overall attention to detail were top-notch. It’s clear that a lot of care and thought went into every aspect. I felt valued and appreciated throughout the entire process. Whether you’re new or returning, you can count on consistent excellence. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone looking for something truly reliable and worthwhile. Five stars well earned! I’m already looking forward to coming back again. Thanks for such a smooth and enjoyable experience. Keep up the amazing work!

Brace yourself—this thriller grabs hold and does not let go. Noelle W. Ihli crafts an intensely suspenseful, twisty narrative that keeps you guessing until the very end. The story unfolds with the discovery of multiple murder victims, each seemingly unconnected, but as the investigation deepens, dark secrets start surfacing. The tension builds masterfully, creating an atmosphere of unease with unreliable characters, shocking reveals, and chilling psychological elements. Ihli’s sharp writing style adds to the urgency, making this an unputdownable read. If you love thrillers that keep your pulse racing, None Left to Tell is a must-read!

Historical fiction fans will enjoy this account a little known story for many of us. In 1857, families crossing Utah in a wagon train were brutally massacred. Blamed for years on local native Americans, the Church of Latter Day Saints has more recently taken responsibility. The book uncovers local sentiment at the time for both the Mormon community and the natives tribes both forced from their homesteads to the dusty Utah plain. Bingham Young’s leadership is detailed including excerpts of his sermons.
At times it was difficult to keep the characters straight and I wasn’t sure where the story was going. I recommend the audiobook as there are many tearful accounts which are heart wrenching and I likes hearing the singing used throughout the storyline. I enjoyed learning about this event and recommend it to other fans of historical fiction.

I had a very hard time reading this book. I started and stopped many times. I really appreciate the opportunity to read this book for an honest review.
I just think it was not my style.

Fans of survival thrillers and psychological suspense will likely enjoy this gripping story based around true historical events. It did take me on and off due to my schedule to finish it, but the layers and story are life changing.
Overall, this one is an intense, emotionally fueled ride with just the right balance of character depth and high-stakes action while highlighting some very important history!
Thank you, Netgalley, for my ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

None Left to Tell is a fast-paced, gripping thriller that kept me flying through the pages late into the night. Noelle West Ihli delivers a story packed with tension, secrets, and that delicious “just one more chapter” feeling we all crave in a psychological thriller.
From the start, the premise pulled me in—there’s an eerie, locked-room vibe mixed with small-town secrets and a growing sense that nothing is quite what it seems. The suspense builds steadily, and Ihli does a fantastic job planting seeds of doubt about everyone. Just when I thought I had things figured out, another twist would knock me off track.
The characters are compelling, especially the protagonist, who’s both vulnerable and determined. I loved the emotional undercurrent woven through the story—it’s not just about survival or solving a mystery, but also about confronting the past, grief, and betrayal.
This one reads like a binge-worthy Netflix thriller: dark, twisty, and deeply satisfying. If you're into mysteries with strong female leads, unexpected turns, and tightly written suspense, None Left to Tell should be on your TBR.

None Left To Tell follows three women who all have their own individual stories but are all connected by one of the most brutal mass slayings in US history.
This book is inspired by the story of the Mountain Meadows Massacre.
I have now read a few books written by Noelle now and I have loved every single one of them. I love her writing style and am obsessed with her ability to write such fantastic suspenseful books.
I will admit that it took me a while to finish this book. I struggled with the pacing at the beginning and felt that it was dragging on. I found myself also cringing at the outdated phrases and terms towards Indigenous Americans. I understand that that’s to be “expected” in the time period that this book is based in but I couldn’t help the instant grimace that it gave me.
As a non American, this was the first time I had ever heard about the Mountain Meadow Massacre. However, this was not the first time I had heard about the LDS church and I want to say that from what I have heard, I am not surprised by the lack of responsibility and about the fact that many leaders and members within the church still continue to place the blame on Indigenous Americans.
This unfortunately was not my favourite of this author’s
Thank you to NetGalley and Dynamite Books for providing me with this ARC. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I was not prepared to learn as much as I did. This story - and true tragedy is heartbreaking. I had never heard of the mountain meadows massacre. The author did not disappoint in the amount of research she put into this work.

Wow. This author can do it all. I’ve read some psychological thrillers by her but this historic fic thriller was fantastic.
There’s lots of characters and story lines that intertwine and it can be a little tricky to keep track but the details and stories are so well plotted and organized it gets easier as the story goes on.
It’s an emotional look back at American history.
Highly recommend!!!

I requested this book from NetGalley because I’ve read other books by this author and loved them. Unfortunately, I did not love this one. Although it was well written, the setting and storyline were just not for me. I would recommend this book to anyone who love historical fiction and stories that focus on religious elements. I found the afterword interesting as this story was based on true events.
I’d like to thank Noelle W Ihli and Dynamite books via NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy in exchange for a review of this book.

None Left to Tell is an intense, suspenseful read that grips you from the start. The plot is full of twists and turns, keeping you hooked with every chapter. The main character is well-developed, and her journey is both emotional and compelling. The pacing is perfect—never too slow or rushed—and the writing is sharp and engaging.
If you're into thrillers with strong character development and unexpected surprises, this book is definitely worth picking up. It’s a quick read that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.

While I do love this author, this book wasn't for me. I knew it was historical fiction, but I couldn't get into it the way I hoped I would. It took me a very long time to read this.

Thank you to Netgalley for letting me read to and enjoy this book.
This is my second Noelle W. Ihli book but not my favourite. I thought the premise sounded so amazing but I found the book to be too long and it dragged on. It is based on a true story and I can’t imagine how terrible that would have been but the way the book was written it didn’t even make me feel any emotion towards what was happening. I didn’t feel connected at all. We had each chapter being different characters PoVs of what was happening almost simultaneously or close together. And it was interesting just not enough.
I’m not sure if I would recommend this book or not.
